AOSP bulid and no gapps. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just made an aosp build and everything works fine but theres no gapps, is that normal or did i forgot something before building ?
Is there a way to build so it will contain the gapps at the end?

¿You forgot something?

I dont think you understood what i mean.
Yes i have flashed the gapps after that, but i was asking if its normal , that aosp build compilled from source contains no google apps, not even the basic google core apps?

I understand now

That's normal, if you see on any cyanogenmod,AOKP,Vanir,on any custom rom (AOSP is the base of every custom rom), there are not any google apps, as i know, that's by some legal things, i'm not an expert, but that's what i know

A. you HAVE TO link your source, legally and according to xda rules.
B. this is not an original rom, and does not go into the n5 original development section. this is cm, not your own personal development.
C. you dont even thank the people who develop the rom, very disrespectful.
D. and there is a legal reason why gapps arent included in custom roms, lkegally you are not allowed to include them if you are distributing your rom. which is what you are doing. for personal use, its allowed, but when you are sharing your rom with the gapps, that is against the law since you do not have a license.

a cm based rom doesnt belong in original dev, its cm, no matter what you did to it. you using a different developed rom is still not your work, it belongs in n5 android development. and credit needs to go in the op as well, not just in the rom. in the rom itself, credit isnt even needed.

Yeah this thread will be closed and links will be removed. Sorry dude. You have to exclude gapps for a starter.
Good luck. Cheers ?
Gapps aren't included for the same reason with CM because Google told them to take it out. And unless code optimizations come from you it is essentially a kanging of someone else's work...which is fine when you give credit. But make sure you respect everyone, and the GPL. If the kernel is custom (not the one included with CM), make sure to include a link in OP to kernel on git with your sources and commits.
I have removed Gapps ok. My bad. I got it figured out, switched toolchains, and some other cleanup. Now this is totally legit I think
I will have the new ROM uploaded sometime tomorrow with a separated Aroma Gapps. If I can still at least do that.

So...how the things are going on here???
i was informed by an xda mod gapps can be included
There is nothing wrong with including gapps..it is only the official CM team that got a C&D from Google...it is not enforced by XDA anyway.

What is the difference between the lollipop binaries and offical binaries? Like functionaily wise
Does this contain SuperSU, or do I need to flash after install?
Whenever I try to flash, it tells me that there is no OS installed when I try to reboot.
NO OS install like another L thread.

Sorry op for posting link
Worked for me. I flashed a factory image of kitkat, then factory reset, then flashed twrp recovery, and then flashed this zip with the gapps for lollipop hosted by cyanogen.
Got root by flashing supersu's modded kernel and then supersu update zip.
All apps were automatically backed up after boot, but there is one strange thing:
Google play keeps telling me Google plus is incompatible. Is this something wrong with the Rom? Or lollipop? Or something else??

Just updated drivers really. There currently aren't any lollipop binaries that are available. Unless you can pull them from the current preview. However, you can use the preview binaries or the 4.4.4 ones until the new ones drop. I used the preview ones, but haven't been able to flash it yet.

[ROM] VanillaAOSP [Android 5.1.1_r13 LVY48E][Aug 17, 2015]

VanillaAOSP
This ROM is built straight from Google sources without any changes/modifications.
Please feel free to flash it on your device or use it as a base for your own custom ROM if need be.
I don't plan on making any changes to the ROM or adding any features etc. I usually run the factory image on my device unrooted a lot of the time. I just love the vanilla android simplicity and ease of use. I also really enjoy AOSP as well, so vanilla AOSP works for me. Enjoy.
Instructions
1. Have the latest TWRP installed on your device
2. Full wipe if coming from another ROM (make sure not to wipe internal storage)
3. Flash ROM
4. Flash Gapps
5. Flash SuperSU
6. Enjoy

The factory image from Google comes with all Google proprietary apps and services pre installed.
ROMs built from AOSP source don't have any Google apps installed at all. All the apps are open source. So there is AOSP calendar, AOSP Dialer, AOSP Gallery, AOSP Camera, Keyboard etc etc.
If you want Google apps you can flash separately in a custom recovery.

I guess it depends which Gapps package you choose to flash whether it removes the AOSP apps. The SimpleAOSP Gapps I linked to earlier does not remove the AOSP apps. If I am not mistaken I believe PA Gapps will remove AOSP apps. So depends what you want and which gapps you choose to use. Whichever suits you best.

[ROM][7.0.0_r1] Decrypted+Debloated AOSP Nougat Build

Hey XDA!
This is just a quick build of AOSP Nougat that I though I should upload and share. It's just pure AOSP with a modified fstab and a bunch of the useless apps removed. While it does boot, the main problem is that there aren't any gapps available, so there is little functionality.
Instructions:
1. Flash vendor.img
2. Flash ROM zip
3. Boot up
Downloads:
Unofficial vendor.img: http://oceighty.co/ Created and uploaded by @xanaxdroid
ROM zip: https://basketbuild.com/ Build and uploaded by me.
DISCLAIMERS:
I'm not responsible for any mishaps you have.
This is simply a courtesy upload, do not expect updates.
The vendor.img was pulled from the OTA and is not an official factory image.
is it rooted?
The latest TWRP version functions with Android N, it now correctly decrypts the phone (yes, I'm aware this ROM is pre-decrypted). You can flash SuperSU through that and then download most of the needed GApps from APKMirror, I know Android N preview GApps were uploaded there.
confused... so I could just flashed this like a regular rom? would my internal disk erase? is this rooted?
you guys need to read the OP and stop asking senseless questions
"It's just pure AOSP with a modified fstab and a bunch of the useless apps removed"
Lol, this is why I wish rooting wasn't just a click away. I miss the old days where you actually had to know what you were doing to root the damn thing like actually being familiar with adb I doubt half the people that root haven't used shell period. Point being that the people that did it knew the ins and outs of what they were doing and there wasnt all this clutter. people used to actually do the time to research and educate themselves on what was going on now it's all entitlement give me give me i don't understand oh blah blah won't work fix it for me anyway this isn't helpful or constructive please delete goodnight

Can someone confirm that flashing the lastest SuperSU beta works? http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/2014-09-02-supersu-v2-05-t2868133
So basically flashing this ROM + Vendor + ARM64 GApps + SuperSU = Android N, decrypted, rooted, with gapps?
How'd you even build this? I synced r1 and tried a build last night and it wouldn't build (for the 6p). The website doesn't show 6p as included in r1 yet

Not really, no. The ROM isn't technically decrypted at all. It just doesn't force encryption. So if you were encrypted prior to flashing you would still be encrypted. The only way to decrypt is to format userdata. The advantage of a ROM not forcing encryption (or being incorrectly labelled as decrypted in this case) is that if you were previously decrypted the kernel won't encrypt your storage on the first boot.

This can be tricky, especially in modern android where you have a choice to make: Do you want an almost all Google OS or do you want AOSP OS?
These days, when you install your gapps, it uninstalls the CM apps unless you only use PICO. (which is just the basic for playstore functionality) Google will replace stock apps like Calendar, Calculator, Launcher, Browser, Clock, etc.
Personally, I try to limit Google and use AOSP, but the choice is yours.

If you get that error while installing RR(or any other ROM), it means that the installer script checked if your device is compatible with that ROM and it is not. Did you download the right ZIP for your device?
I think you can also get that error if you didn't wipe the necessary partitions. Usually you need wipe "/system", "/data" and "/cache". Make sure to make a backup of them before wiping.
