Ok I have a question, I have a really annoying bug while im in a call! The screen goes black as soon as I press the call button,the phone call is fine but when I come to end the call the screen is still black and I cant end the call because there is no response from the screen!! Is anyone else facing this problem? I hope somebody knows how to fix it.

I'm on .402 and I cannot duplicate the issue. What version is your phone on? Have you tried reinstall the system via sony update service?

Im also on .402 im at work at the min so cant try anything until I get home. Just checked again and its ok now! But for how long I dont know. Its very annoying if its going to keep doing this!

Hmm...that's interesting. glad to hear it's okay now. It doesn't sound like a hardware problem to me. If it keeps happening, maybe try reinstalling the system. Remember to backup before you do the restore tho
P.S you might want to avoid sony Pc companion for backup. It failed to restore last time I tried and a lot of people reported that the app would freeze for quite a while (in some cases stayed frozen forever) if your backup is big.

Finally got my recently bought 2nd hand (still only 3 months old) Z2 after service because the previous owner had forgoten the mini-sim adaptor attached inside the sim tray...
I really have the same problem with my phone... ! Everytime i call or answer a call the screen goes black and i can't do anything... Except some times double pressing the power button brings up the screen, but not always !
Any ideas? Thank you.

this is excactly what im getting to dude, been trying alllllllll day to get somewhere, and got no where.
first it was a single lock up with buzzing audio, not its just random blank screens, white led and reboot
been trying all day to fix this
im getting bizzre sound and my notification led is change colour(like red,blue,orange)
I had just started my phone up too. Looks like a new fault for the x10i then.

Ive had this for a couple months now, getting worse and worse, since 1.6, multiple re flashed etc. Never fixes, cant [lay games now it crashes and reboots certainly cant handle navigation! Seems to be a problem with the phones, waiting on a spare phone to use while I send mine back to SE. Very annoying sometimes it goes on a reboot cycle takes ages to come back up and keeps rebooting as soon as it starts. Always worse when plugged in to usb/wall
Hey i have been getting the same thing........ random reboots........ since i updated to 2'1. I flashed aosp firmware. Same thing there. Called SE, they said tht i might not have properly upgraded my phone, so come to SE Service Centre.

I haven't had these strange reboots, but lately while manually rebooting my phone it hangs on the rogers white screen for ages.
So? No solution yet? Mine goes into reboot when being charged, specially when opening some apps. The battery then, too, gets overheated. Any solution?

SE is completely ripping me off !!!
I went to their service centre, they told me my phone has been purchased outside my country and will have to pay for software restore and if hardware problem, 75% of mobile cost. It was purchased outside of my country, but I never had this problem with other electronic devices.
Did anybody here experience on SK17i that when you install an APK coming from say, a file explorer or even the "Application Installer", then you click on the program you want to install, you can't click the "Install" button?
I mean you can click it but it won't register. And there's nothing you can do about it, unless power cycle the phone, and randomly experience the issue again.
I am pretty sure that this is not a hardware problem as the touch screen works everywhere, only in Installation this problem comes up.
I noticed this on the stock .335 firmware, and now that I flashed the .368 I thought it was fixed, still there sometimes, randomly.
But when it works (immediately after a power cycle), it works just as normal.
Installations coming directly from Android Market does not have this problem.
I don't install/uninstall apps regularly so its not much of a big deal but I really find this strange. As I am not fond of doing reboots and waiting for phone to start up just to find out it has that issue again, what I do is just install using "adb install" when connected to my laptop.
Any similar experience, and how is this resolved?

I'm curious when you say reboot do you turn off the phone completely or you have an app.
in the market Fast Reboot closes all app but keeps phone still on. maybe that can help in some strange way instead of turning off the phone, if thats what you mean.
thanks for the response. like i said its rare i encounter this, but at some random instance it happens. if i had no choice i power cycle the phone (sorry i mentioned reboot in the 1st post), but it is power cycle. i know the "Fast Reboot" application, but what that does is just kill all apps, not really reboot
btw, a program that really reboots the phone on one click is "Reboot Control Widget", which I have installed (rarely used though) and it needs root.
Same issues have happened here randomly. I am running the .368 firmware with google market automatically updated to the newer version (the windows phone 7 like).

^ Not so, because after a power cycle, its almost 95% the error disappears and you can install it normally. Strange huh...

2 days ago my phone totally lost responsiveness of touch screen. As in touch screen dead. I'm sending it back today for seller to replace. Good thing I bought a cheap arc yesterday.
What's evident here now, is this issue could be telltale signs that eventually the touch screen will die so arrange for backup and warranty.

Just an update on this matter.
It seems the app "Screen Filter" which helps reduce the brightness contributes as one of the cause or maybe the main cause of this issue. I happened to observe it on Xperia Arc on rare occassions. When I turn off the app, Install clicking works afterwards.
Sometimes when i press the power button on the side of my phone my phone will not fire up. I see the screen really vague. I need to press the button sometimes more them 10 times in order to get my phone working. It looks like the backlite is not working good. It is starting to piss me off.
Anyone else experiencing the same kind of problem?

Sorry to say I don't know the answer to your question, but there is one thing I'd like to share with you. Samsung OLED displays don't have backlite. So it can't be broken either. Good luck finding a solution!

So you want a defective phone? Even if you fix it, you still have a defective phone. Get it sent back to the store or Samsung.. Surely you can live without it for the benefit of the time it comes to sell the device.

Are you sure you are on the most current official ROM? (This would be, starting today, Jellybean in a few countries)
Some old offical ROM's sometimes had the issue and it was annodying as hell. I have not seen it since switching to leaked Jellybean builds.
As the previous poster already said; there is no backlight so you should not be able to see anything. Maybe your eyes are playing tticks on you or you got some app such as ScreenFilter to act up.
I just got an xperia for likely much les than 1/2 a month, the problem im having with it is my home cancel buttons, the 3 buttons on the footer of the phone just above the lightening thing, when i install skype and sometime without installing it i get about problems with the 3 touch buttons, sometimes the problem goes about the way they respond, that is sometimes they take time to respond or sometimes they don't respond at all, i get this problem like about once during the day thats the reason i cant take it back to the store in case it starts working, using the touch buttons with vibrations, sometimes i take time and press it still it does not respond to any requests, also there are times when this problem is going through and i press the cancel button a few times, you hear the vibration and then it stops responding in some time that is pressing the middle button might not lead to any request to be performed
the problem is similar to this one but the solution does not appear to work in mine

It's happened alot over past two weeks and it's now done it 3 times in past 2 1/2 days. Screen stays black press any button does nothing and hold down power still does nothing. Only way is to hold volume up and power for 3 vibrations then power back on its really annoying and must be due to some problem....?

am going thru this currently ... and i cant do anything to the device at all! urs might work after the restart ... i've done the power button/volume up restart that didnt help ... did the emergency reset using the red button also didnt work ... the phone is running in the background as i can still receive whatsapp msgs but i cant view them as am receiving "inititalbootsetup" isnt responding either close or wait ... and again both of these options arent working ..
Go to settings and disable auto brightness. I'm not sure why it works, but after researching for a while on this same issue, this is the setting that worked for me. Try it and update us if it works.

Did you guys update to 257 without wiping? I didn't wipe, but there might be some bugs sticking around from 532. Do a factory reset (full wipe if you have recovery) and see if that solves it.
any updates on this issue .the device screen simply doesnt wake-up from sleep ,unless you hard reboot .
i'm on 290 stock ,and testing the auto brightness disable method.

Hmm, it has to be a software bug. I can't see how this could be a hardware issue. Have you tried everything? Wiping? Re-flashing? Flashing a different ROM?

Happened to me view times when i tried to play movies, weird thing its not all movies, just some of them. Then i tried to remember what did i just installed because it never happens before. For me it was Nooxzoid, i uninstall it, and it back to normal.
So maybe try to remember does it happened before or just recently, maybe some app went roque with your phone.

I had to remove sim which forced a reboot. Never installed anything recently on rooted. 532. I've had nothing but issues regarding this phone. Regretting getting it thought sony would make a better product then this.

I have it just once though two days ago. Force reboot it by the button i almost gone mad when it's still not working, but somehow after a minute, it's normal again. I don't know why. But in case of yours, try to upgrade to the latest ROM first. That might fix it for you. No point for rooting if you can't fix the problem so let it go.
