EVO V 4G Only boots to hboot or recovery - HTC EVO 3D

Info

s-off
hboot 1.50.5050
radio 1.09.00.1018
Rooted a friends phone exactly like i rooted my own phone (same model and carrier) and installed an MIUI rom (same one as on mine) ran fine for about a week then cut off while he was using facebook, now it will only boot into Hboot or recovery. tried reinstalling the rom, reformatting everything, wiping caches, etc and nothing. debating whether to just unroot it and see if it works.
Any ideas?

don't. S-on, stay s-off. Now as for unroot? Do you mean stock? I think doing ruu is a good thing, fixes most partition issues
Sent from my DOWNGRADED EVO 3D

What funk said...run ruu the pg86img way.
Then you'll still be soff and no need to lock or unlock ever again
Sent from my Evo V 4G using XDA Free mobile app

Been searching for an hour, and can't find RUU file. Every guide's link to the file is a dead link

Google, or check htc for download. S-off means you can flash any version older or newer

Help can't seem to flash ICS GSM

So I've attempted to flash two of the ICS GSM roms based off the leaked HTC ICS and both give me bootloops(like shutting off and rebooting every 10 seconds). I've tried to do it with both 4EXT and CWM, I've superwiped, I even tried to flash the boot.img using fastboot but nothing seems to work. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas.
Mostly you only get stuck on boot loops if you're S-On so I recommend you downgrade your HBOOT first, use Revolutionary to go S-Off and do the flashing again. Cuz I've been through it too, was very annoying. Only some roms used to work S-on.
If you're S-Off, then I have no idea what's wrong because ever since I'm S-off, I've never encountered bootloops. Except for when I experiment with my phone installing mods I shouldn't.

I'm S-OFF, trust me I'm stumped, I installed a different GB rom last night to make sure my phone could flash new ROMs and that's not it either. At this point I feel like my phone is just rejecting the ROMs, I wonder if it's all ICS or just the leaked HTC one that my phone doesn't like.

I've probably installed he firmware via bootloader at least 5 times, maybe I could try a different firmware though I'm not really experienced in knowing the difference between firmwares.

Go and download the one on Virtuous ROM official thread. That should do it. I got it working on the first go, though I was **** scared of bricking my phone.

I did install the one on the Virtuous ROM thread, I'm wondering if there is a way to switch to another one and try that since I've been failing to install ICS on that firmware and haven't tried on any other one.
Don't be afraid of bricking its all about knowing what to do after its bricked and also what process are you using before you flash the Rom

I tried to flash both Virtuous 3.0.0 and 3.0.2 aswell as the Anyrl ROM based on the ICS leak and all exhibited the same bootloop. GB roms flash just fine as I put on Virtuous 2.0.0 last night to see if I could and I've never had an issue flashing various versions of MikRunny.
I can help you with that I just flashed 3.0.2 its vary easy

However as stated you must have s off to flash the firmware and then flash the Rom

H-Boot update ?

How can I update my h-boot to 1.58
I have now h-boot 1.57 stock ics and gsm
Can somebody tell me how pls
Are you s-off? If s-on, get s-off. after s-off: flash every hboot you like.
Whwre can I See which i have ?

Unless I'm mistaken, hboot 1.58 is CDMA only. Since you're GSM, it would be a bad idea. Afaik, 1.57 is the latest GSM.
I could be wrong as HTC numbers hboots very annoyingly.

Yeh as far as I know 1.58 is CDMA. Though why you would want to update your hboot is beyond me... generally speaking the lower your hboot the fewer problems you will have with it

1.57 is VM hboot. If you are S-Off search for the hboot thread by mpgrimm and download the 1.58. That one is not unlocked though. 1.58.5858 junuptobear is unlocked I think. It is there too.

Unlocked bootloader is no really necessary for most things if you are S-Off. The hboot thread is a great resource for all this.
I don't understand really sry
Because I'm from.germany
But when I wantet to unlock my bootloader at htcdev.com there comes comes always at the last step
Unlock tock check failed
Sorry, he did say gsm, although the VM leak had a hboot of 1.57.
I wanret to root my phone
But I can't because I have to unlock my bootloader and it failed always

Since you are s-off, find and download the appropriate gsm hboot (i know where cdma ones are but not gsm), rename the file (pg86img for cdma, not sure for gsm), put it on the root of your sd card, reboot into bootloader and flash it there.

You are already S-OFF with latest hboot. You dont need to unlock it. S-OFF is more than unlocked bootloader. If you want to root, you will have to flash custom bootloader 1st if you cannot unlock it. As you will not be able to flash recovery through fastboot without unlocking it though you are S-OFF. or you can flash a PG86IMG.ZIP containing a custom recovery.
then boot the custom recovery and flash superuser zip.
This will root your phone.
How can I Flash custom bootloader
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using xda app-developers app
i'm gonna try and explain this real easy:
1) Download you the hboot you want (I'd recommend this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1906172 )
2) Put the PG86IMG on the root of your sdcard (it means dont put it into any folder just place it outside)
3) Pull out battery.
4) Hold power and vol down button. The phone should boot into bootloader(white screen with fastboot recovery options etc)
5) select bootloader by pressing power button
6) It should check for the PG86IMG now. let it do its thing. when asked if you want to apply update press power up.
7) Let it complete and reboot

Updating radio s-off

I've been looking through the threads and haven't seen anything similar to the issue I have. I'm running the new meanbean except all my radios, hboot and all that is pretty out dated. Probably the reason why I can't get 4g yet the wife's phone, sitting next to mine, is showing full bars. I have been trying and trying to install any radio update, jewel pack I can find to update my radios. I'm running the latest version of twrp. Everytime I try to install any update pack through twrp it fails. I've even tried older versions, yet newer than mine, and still get the same results. Any help from you guys would be appreciated. Posting was my last resort.

S-OFF your phone then update firmware/radios. The only way to update your firmware while S-ON is to re-lock and take the OTA

Option 1 - Relock and run the 3.15 RUU. Then take the 3.16 OTA then Dev Unlock.
Option 2 - DirtyRacun to get S-OFF and head on over to Captain's thread for flashable that will update your radio, pri, nv, touchpanel etc.
Honestly I would recommend getting S-OFF while it is still available.

Did all that, most of the time I get the bad image message. When it does go through I'll get a blue status bar on the right, will fill up than will say parsing that particular file. After that, the parsing message goes away and that's it, goes back to hboot menu. It apparently never updates because my versions don't change above the menu.
I'm almost wondering if there's a hardware issue which could be causing the updates to not install.

Download this file and place it on the root of your external SD card:
http://d-h.st/mFj
Rename the file PJ75IMG. Some operating systems automatically hide the zip extension so check and make sure (it should appear as PJ75IMG.zip). Once you've done this reboot to the bootloader and update. If you are indeed S-off I can't imagine why it won't work otherwise.

HBOOT 1.40 downgrade bootloop

Hello,
So at one point my EVO 3D was S-OFF, HBOOT 1.40, and running a Jellybean ROM. At one point, the rom started acting funky so I ran the Sprint ICS RUU. I rooted it, restored the data partition, and I was HBOOT 1.58 unlocked S-OFF. Yesterday I downgraded to HBOOT 1.40 using a PG86IMG.zip and then the stock ROM would not boot. I briefly saw bit of the Sprint Boot logo, then it shut down, and repeated.
What can I do to get my stock ROM booting again?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I didn't think that 1.40 hboot was compatible with jellybean, I could be wrong. you can flash another hboot then wipe cache and dalvik then give it another go

1.50 and under is usually for GB, JB and some custom ICS roms

The ROM I was planning on installing was MIUI v5. I believe it is JB.
I have a Nandroid of my stock ROM, so when I want to go back I can simply flash HBOOT 1.58 again?
Then once you've changed boot, it won't boot to the stock ROM....do a full wipe and flash the jb ROM
