If you haven't gotten your status bar back yet, I suggest to Odin back Samsung Full Stock Firmware tar, and go from there.

HELP HELP HELP!!! Rooting screw up!!!

Hi,
I think I screwed up my phone! I rooted yesterday and all was fine then today I tried to add a custom ROM but I think I did it wrong and now my screen is black and all I get is that I have an unexpected error. I have done an ODIN restore two times and it doesn't work... please please please help I can't brick my phone I need help!!
You need to provide more information. Were you on DI01, DJ05, DL09, EB01 when you rooted your phone and what rom did you try to flash.
Also which file did you try to odin, and did you add the file using the pda button on odin.
I was on EB01 I tried to flash to vinallia or something and then I tried to flash back to stock because my whole screen is black so I used this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=867648&page=19 and nothing happened I mean I know just have my wallpaper and no applications or anything I think my phone is broken and I am super freaking out and I don't know what to do!!
Can you explain your steps on how you used odin. Some people make a mistake here and mess up their phone (using phone button).
Also how did you flash the vanilla rom.
Try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=948679
But before you do, download update.zip from this link I uploaded direct link
http://www.4shared.com/file/ReRrCtwV/update.html
Place update.zip into the sd card by taking out from the phone and mount it on computer
Then do the first thread I gave u. And when u get ur phone back up hold power button which will give u an option to go recovery click that and apply update.zip
Sent from my SC2.8/EB01 Fascinate using XDA Premium
I have done somerhing like u b4 I updated to eb01 n something happened so I tried install back to stock rom which became more complicated. So let me know if theres any progress after trying my method

You are going to be fine. You don't need to odin, you need to reinstall the rom. The first time I flashed a rom on my phone it did the same thing. You get a ton of messages and nothing shows up on your screen but the default background.
Was your phone stock before you tried to flash?
I can't really understand where you are in fixing this, but it sounds like your phone is successfully booting to the homescreen and now you want to know how to get back to where you were? If you're wondering why your apps are gone, it's because the DI01 odin package you flashed flashes everything, and does a factory reset on first boot as well, so all of you apps and data that wasn't stored on the SD card is gone. You'll have to re-install them via Titanium Backup if you had it, or manually if you didn't have any backups. Also, if you want to get back to EB01, you'll need to download the EB01 ROM, EB01 kernel, EB01 modem, as well as CWM recovery to flash as well.
His problem is that he has nothing. What is displayed after he boots is a series of error messages and then the home screen default widgets just show up as dead space "holders".
I am trying to remember how I fixed this... I think it had something to do with me not installing with clockwork mod installed correctly, but again, I'm not 100% sure.

Counter reset to 0 but system properties still modified

Well as the title says, i successfully reset'd my flash counter back to 0. It worked like charm. But the problem is that the system properties still shows status "Modified". So is there any way to reset it to normal too?
BTW i already searched the forum but didn't find any promising solution. If anyone of you knows any thread with the answer then please guide me and mod can close the thread.
Regards
Did you flsahed STOCK ROM and RECOVERY back with ODIN or?
You also need the stock kernel installed. The stock recovery normally comes with installing the your country's firmware with Odin.
Stock rom, recovery and kernel are all needed for the status to be "normal".

Well i have stock indian 4.1.1 ROM. Stock kernel. Stock recovery. Just rooted today with cf auto root. Reset'd the flash counter. So there's no reason for it to remain still modified. Any solutions bro?

IF you do a factory reset, you'll get Normal status back. Not sure if it's worth it to you, but it will work. (If you are rooted and install JKay's mod, your system will report Normal status regardless).

[Q] Please Help! Odin failed on stock ROM re-flash, now I'm bricked

So, I'm sending my Verizon Samsung S4 Sch-1545 back to Verizon for a warranty return.
So while help with bricking is needed, I really still need to be able to flash the stock ROM.
I previously had rooted my phone, and decided to flash the stock ROM via Odin v 3.09. I used the 1545VRUFNC5 ROM which is the correct one for my model.
However only partially through the flashing I get the FAIL message in Odin and now my phone is bricked and I get the message upon boot "Firmware Upgrade encountered and issue. Please select a recovery mode in KIES and try again".
I even re-tried using a different USB cable and port on my computer, that didn't change anything.
I don't know what to do now, and how to get my phone un-bricked and flashed back to the stock ROM with Odin failing. Per the Odin dialog box, it keeps failing at system.img.ext4.
Please help! I have to send my phone back to Verizon ASAP and I'm at a loss here.
Thanks!!

Thanks, that worked and it passed. So at least my phone is working again, but I'm having other problems now.
My phone rebooted automatically to the normal home screen, however I keep getting the dialog box that won't close out that says "Unfortunately, the process android.process.acore has stopped" as well as "android.process.media has stopped".
So I'm not sure at this point what to do . Should I try flashing it again, or doing a factory data reset? All II'm really trying to do is take this completely back to to stock for the warranty return.
Did you use the no wipe tar or full wipe?

I didn't know there was a difference? I used the 1545VRUFNC5 ROM .
Was this a setting that I should have chosen in Odin? The TAR file didn't specify wipe or no wipe in it's filename.

OK so I did a hard factory data reset, that seemed to fix the problem.
I installed ES File Manager and Root Checker and there's no evidence of root access or the SU binary.
Sounds like I may be good to go with sending this back to Verizon. What do you think?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735172 that should help, remember full wipe completely wipes all data on your phone pictures and everything.

"Firmware Upgrade Encountered an Issue" "Device not responding" Samsung Kies

"Firmware Upgrade Encountered an Issue" "Device not responding" Samsung Kies
I tried to flash an Android 5.0 ROM earlier, and my phone was only booting to the stock recovery (Safestrap was installed but I did a factory reset). Now, if the phone was turned off by removing the battery, it won't turn on when I hold the power button, or attempt to go into download/recovery mode. Nothing happens. If I plug it in, I can use whatever button combinations as normal. However, I don't think I can get to recovery mode. Both volume down/power and volume down/power/home enter download mode to the phone. I tried to flash a stock ROM in Odin, but it failed. Otherwise, it shows a screen that says " Firmware Upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies and try again" And when I open kies, it just says "connecting" for an extremely long time until it eventually says "Device not responding" and I can't do anything. What do I have to do to fix this? I can't find anything for this phone that has had this problem or knows how to fix it. I've tried a few different things so far but flashing nothing in odin has worked. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.
Bumping for others to hopefully see... I've still made no progress and am in the same situation and simply can't find what I need to do.
What build were you on before you started? What file are you trying to flash with Odin?

Here's the issue: since you have safestrap installed that means you're on the new bootloader. We cannot install anything other than TW based roms from nothing newer than nc5 base. If you can get into download mode, you'll need to flash the full wipe nc5 tar file through Odin. That will get you back on stock and you can re-root from there.

Crap. You're right. I completely forgot about that last night. I was getting frustrated with Hyperdrive because when I was trying to install version 20, the WiFi would never work no matter which modules.zip I flashed.
I got fed up and just wanted to flash something else and I did this without even thinking about it... I can get the phone into download mode, but when I try to flash this in odin, it fails.
I saw someone with the same screen as me with a Note 2 and someone said something about flashing a PIT file or something like that? I think I'm going to look into that next, hopefully I can find some useful links.

Sorry I didn't see this post at first. The file I'm using in Odin is mentioned in the above post. Before I had done anything, I was successfully using Hyperdrive 17.something. I did a factory reset, flashed the Hyperdrive 20 rom, flashed the modules.zip (I used like 3 or 4 different ones and none of them got WiFi to work) and rebooted and let the phone sit for 10 minutes, and when I would try to toggle WiFi, it wouldn't work. To make things worse, every time, when I rebooted, SafeStrap wouldn't load. So I had to go back to the ROM and install Towelroot and root the phone again, then install safestrap and install the recovery again and then I could boot to it. But I could never get the WiFi to work a single time.

Using the Full Wipe method on that link, I was able to resolve the problem and at least get back to a working phone. From here I'll use towelroot to root and install safestrap and then install hyperdrive 20 with those modules you linked. To be more specific for anyone reading years from now with the same problem as me, I used odin 1.85 (though many versions work) with the pit file provided from that link with "re=partition, auto reboot and f. reset time" checked in the options. At first, I was having some trouble, but I think it was because the phone had low battery. I plugged it in for a bit, booted it up, and am setting it up right now. Thanks for the help everyone, it's much appreciated. I very much hope that the modules you linked work for me, because if they don't, I have no idea what ROM to use.
I was reading a thread last night where someone listed all of the ROMS working with SafeStrap, but it was from like 2 years ago and almost all of the ROMs had been abandoned.... Is there a more updated list of options? Or just something to look for to make sure a ROM will work right away?

So right now things aren't going as smoothly as I would've hoped.... The first time I flashed Hyperdrive and then that modules zip you linked, and the phone got stuck on the Samsung custom screen in some sort of loop. I reset it with odin and just the PDA from the link from before, and I then installed towelroot and safestrap again then flashed hyperdrive and modules and now I'm stuck on the hyperdrive red screen... It's just the boot animation and nothing else. When I take out the battery, the power button does nothing if the phone is not plugged in. When I plug the phone in and hold down the power button, it just shows an empty battery with a loading icon in the middle. I can't do anything else.... I'm going to reset it again now and maybe try installing this echoe rom.... Are you talking about this?

Sorry! I had started this reply earlier in the morning then got busy with work. The link for the signal bar fix is in the OP from the forum you found by jds. It's down by the link for v26. I sent you the wifi fix that works for me. If you're going to use v39.1, you will need jrkruse's nk2 patch found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2674280
The echoe site is here:

Flash in this order:
Rom
Nk2 patch (not needed for v29/29.1)
Signal bar fix
WiFi fix
Updated supersu.zip (optional)
Be sure to verify the md5 of the downloads. Good luck!

Well the OP said he did the wipe with that link I listed, and I would assume it's a good link. I am flashing the full wipe with the PIT file, using the cable that came with the phone, and I have tried using a different USB port. I have tried 3 different MD5 files as well and still have had no luck.
Edit (2:13 PM Eastern): Had the wrong file after some digging, and got the NC5 instead of the MK2. Phone is booting normally. Thanks for the help.

Have you tried the patched version of ODIN? To go back to stock, you really should fully wipe the device or you risk running into a lot of issues with carrier settings, features, APN's, etc., not working.
Just to chime in about wiping. When I reverted back, and didn't manually wipe in recovery, I had no navigation bar. Even though Odin will wipe depending on which CSC you use, I'd still suggest a wipe.
