@Topsnake you think the radio from 19.6.3 will work on 4.4.4? This one isn't cutting it for me.

Haven't tried it personally, but generally speaking, yes. Worst case it doesnt run the radio. Then just revert.

Nah.. Not yet. Ive been busy and haven't been home much. I have horrible signal at home. Often no 4g. Where before I would get at least 2-3 bars. Seems OK in other areas near me though. So I haven't been frustrated enough to motivate me lately.
Sent From My Droid Ultra
I upgraded from 4.4 to 4.4.4 (latest OTA from 30 April)
My GSM has stopped working.
Can I flash the radio of 4.4?
My bootloader is unlocked if it helps.
I could even try flashing radio of 4.4.4 (previous version). Any links would be helpful.
If your unlocked you can flash it

I am going to try and flash this radio.
I am on Baseband MSM8960PRO_BP_23255.132.81.00R
Build Number SU6-7.2
System version: 24.13.2
Wish me luck.
Edit: Success. My signal is back. I don't know if the updates or my tinkering with CDMA provider messed up the radio earlier.
This radio is much better on GSM network for me compared to the 4.4.4 radio. I am sticking with this as long as I can.
Would this be advisable for someone switching to CM12.1 and t-mobile?
@Topsnake I am still using 232.55.52.00r radio which was provided by you in the original post, though I am on CM 13.
Now, I am looking for the latest radio for Droid Maxx 4.4.4 MSM8960PRO_BP_23255.132.81.01R but so far I have not been able to find just the radio.
I am going to download the 900+ MB of FXZ from http://firmware.center/firmware/Mot...rizon-user-4.4.4-SU6-7.3-release-keys.xml.zip
Question: Do I just extract the two files fsg.mbn and NON-HLOS.bin and flash them as mentioned in the OP?

This is what I ended up having to do. I flashed the Moto X 5.1 and patch for my Maxx, but had wifi issues galore. I flashed an older Kit Kat radio, which fixed my wifi issues but then created the speakerphone issue. Pulling the modem from this zip is what fixed it for me.

I have had issues with this modem.
WiFi drops on my home network - but this happens very rarely.
But I have issues when I am on roaming. Data does not work in 3G mode at all. And when that happens GPS also does not work.

Yeah, just had my first wifi dropout a bit ago on this modem. Also it seems my wifi has slowed again, while all other devices are fine. Probably going back to 4.4.4 when I get the motivation. No matter what I do on my maxx, anything not on stock has an issue, either signal related, Bluetooth, or wifi. Big issues.
Of course I'm just waiting to see more about the m10. My maxx is getting long in the tooth.
I now updated to the Moto X 5.1 radio - basically I downloaded a file named 292-ghost_verizon_51_lpa2312-397_cid2_cfcxml and then extracted the radio files.
The WiFi problem continues. So, this is turning out to be a bad situation.
Baseband version: MSM8960PRO_BP_23255.140.93.00R
Edit: Removed my Home WiFi network from the phone and added it again - seems to be working fine now. Will do more testing and report back.

Review after using it for 20 days: Baseband version: MSM8960PRO_BP_23255.140.93.00R
1. This is better than MSM8960PRO_BP_23255.132.81.01R, in the sense that it does not have issues with data connectivity while on roaming network.
2. Both modems have issue with my home WiFi.
3. No speakerphone issue with these modems while running Marsh Mellow.
4. Did not see any negative issue with respect to network reception (I live at a place where network is poor, so cannot really blame it on the modem).
Now, @.: SID :. mentioned that there is a new modem (at least for Droid Mini), can someone please extract that and post it here?

hey there, im unsure about this radio image thing, would someone tell me about it and also could someone post a link with the best image, thankyou
There's really only 2 radio versions floating around for US Arias. There's the old one that it shipped with originally, and this updated version that came with the 2.2 update:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1007684
You can get the image from that thread and flash it from CWR (check the md5 sum first or you will brick your phone). Or, the safer way is to run the official RUU to upgrade to 2.2 (will install the above radio), then run AlphaRevX to S-OFF.
I should add that there doesn't seem to be a huge difference in call quality between the two radios, but YMMV.
+1 I've used both radio images and the newer one shows slightly better signal strength (47.63.35.21U_7.16.35.11), for me at least. The gps did lock in a little faster. If you go to menu-Settings-About phone-Software information, in the Baseband version (shows radio you're using) the older one I believe ended in a 6 and the newer does end in 11. If you use Astro File manager you can long press the zip, choose details to see the MD5 checksum. Or you can use AFV (Android file verifier), it's a free download in the market. Personally, I would say go with the newer one, not everyone will see an improvement but from what I've read most do. Verify the MD5 checksum!!!
As far as gps goes the biggest improvement I've seen is using this gps script. Instantaneous GPS Fixation CWR v1.2 US & INTERNATIONAL FINAL http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11342772&postcount=1 I used the one for my region (South Mid States), there's versions for different countries also . With this script gps locks in very fast and very accurate.
You can also use GPS Status to reset and download new assistance data, it's a free download in the market, it works great to show how many satellites your gps sees and how many it's locked into. Screenshot of GPS Status taken inside house using above script.

I get the feeling you're not rooted. IF that's the case, then you don't have cm recovery. Its something you have to flash to your phone yourself.
That said, if you aren't up for rooting your phone the alternative is to run the 2.2 ruu from htc. Then again if you're not rooted then you most likely are already on 2.2 due to either when you bought your phone or an htc ota update. If that's the case you most likely already have the radio update. To check just turn off your phone and turn it in by holding volume down button and the power button simultaneously. This takes you to the bootloader screen which displays the radio version. The newer radio ends in 11. You can also get to cm recovery from this screen (if I was wrong about the root thing) by selecting recovery in the menu.
Sent from my cm7 Aria.
all good now i am rooted i have my htc aria cyanogenmod 7.0.3 with drowningchild kernel, with the 47.63.35.21U_7.16.35.11 radio image, i was just having a blonde moment nd forget what cmr stands for which i now know it stands for clockworkmod recovery, but thankyou anyways was just inquiring
issues with wifi
Hello
First of all, sorry my english
I had installed on my Gratia the version of cyanogenmod 7.2 that comes in that thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1430267
concretely 2/10/12 revisiĆ³n
It works perfectly, but there is a little issue with wifi
When i connected to a wifi point and i exit from its range, and enter in other wifi range that i had stored in my wifi connections, phone not connect automatically to that other wifi while phone is locked. but i had to connect it mannually unlocking the phone.
In the original rom, when i was near my home, for example, phone connects automatically to my home wifi
In other hand, when i connected to a wifi and the wifi not detect activity, it disconnect from acces point, although i have put to never the sleep polytics of wifi. This problem is solved partialy because i install an app from market that make a ping every minute to a extern ip, then wifi detects activity and no sleeps.
A friend tell me that there is an update called "baseband" that update the part of android that controls radio connections, and this update can solve this problem.
I search that update in xda forums and find this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1153385&highlight=baseband
but when i try to update it with clockworkmod recovery it tells me that the update is in an old version previous to android 1.5. (amend) and abort the process.
I dont know how to solve problem.
Thanks
How do I go from .211 radios to .209 radios. I am unrooted and running the .211 leak. My reception sucks since the update. I have searched and searched and cannot figure it out. I am new to motorola android phones. My previous androids have been htc and samsung. Please help!
Are you having any actual issues with calls, data speed, etc? Remember ICS uses a different formula to calculate reception, this is explained here.
If you really want to flash back the radio:
I'm not responsible if something bad happens here.
Grab your .209 zip and unzip it and pull out the radio (I believe it's called lte.img), throw fastboot.exe in the same directory as it (or set up environment variables like I did), and then fastboot it.
Hold down volume down and power until your phone shuts off
Quickly hold down both volume buttons and power and a menu will appear
Select AP Fastboot
Open command prompt
Type "fastboot flash radio lte.img" (assuming the radio you are flashing is named lte.img)
That should work. If not you can run the .211 zip again and it should flash your radio back.
Thanks for responding! I am having dropped data. 4g doesnt connect when it should. It get grey bars alot. It was much better on gingerbread. Does it matter which .209 file that I download?
I found in phone settings if i change to cdma/lte instead of global i got better reception in my area

Not really. Grab any .209, radio image is not a patch file, it's the full thing.
Tappin the talk
I was not able to get it to work. It would act like the file was pushed but, when i would look in settings to verify it would still show the .211 radios. I tried to flash the entire .209 rom as well and it errored out. I guess I am stuck on .211. However, reception seems to have improved since I did a fresh install.
Hey guys. A couple days ago I started having connection problems. I was running s-off infection 2.7 when I was having this problem. Turning wifi on results in the toggle getting greyed out, and 4g works, but calls and texts do not. I updated to the latest infection 2.8.1 rom and it was working at first, when the rom first booted up, and then randomly calls and texts stopped working, and the status bar actually shows no bars, but 4g still works from time to time. I think I need to reflash the newest radio for it. The one I am currently running is 2.22.10.0801r. If anyone has a newer one or the same radio that is flashable from amonra recovery that would be helpful. Thank you.

Here's a link to the updated firmware (including radios) but with boot.img and recovery removed so you don't lose root or data. A link to download just the radios is also somewhere in the same thread.

EDIT: For some reason after flashing this my baseband version shows 2.23.10.0123r, 2.23.10.0803r. Calls/text/4g are working now, but I also replaced the back housing with another I had lying around. Wifi still does not show any networks and stays greyed out. Any ideas?
CM11 is great, but the libraries it's got appears to be heavily targeted toward CDMA mode and less so GSM. If you're a traveler or want to use your device with AT&T/T-Mobile, you'll want to install this patch which loads the AT&T ril onto your device. Without it, I couldn't receive any incoming calls and calls I placed couldn't be hung up (I would be stuck at the "hanging up" screen).
This patch is just two files (libril-qc-qmi-1.so and libril.so) pulled from the AT&T version (jflteatt) of CM11 (specifically, this version: https://download.cyanogenmod.org/get/jenkins/53825/cm-11-20140104-SNAPSHOT-M2-jflteatt.zip).
I'm overseas right now, so I'm only able to test GSM mode, but it's working just fine for me now. If it's not enough for you, you might want to try the two other changes suggested here: https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse/CYAN-2362
To summarize, they are:
Set telephony.lteOnCdmaDevice=0 in /system/build.prop
loki_flash the jflteatt CWM with jfltevzw aboot - see here. Note that this is specific to MDK, so don't do this if you're on any other bootloader. Let me know if you want me to create a flashable version of this possible fix.
I didn't need to do either of these things to get it working for me, but you may need to do the first item if you want LTE (I'm currently in a country without LTE, so I can't test).
Flash this for GSM-optimized rils: View attachment jfltevzw-gsm-0.2.zip
Flash this to revert to CDMA-optimized rils: View attachment jfltevzw-cdma-0.2.zip
Are these the updated files?

I see above that the flashable zip files were removed due to being broken. Are the ones attached good now? Also, these are AT&T files so will they work the same way with T-Mobile service since its fixing the issue with GSM and is not carrier specific?
If so, I'll give it a shot tonight. Thanks!

No. Attached files are no-good; I've now removed them. I made a mistake in building the packages that'll likely brick your phone. I quickly removed the links while trying to fix my own device but forgot to remove the attachments. I'll repost when it's working properly.

I just tried the fix in the CM thread - stuck in a segfault loop
Now that I've unbricked myself, I've updated the zip packages and they should be usable now.
Lesson learned: mount partitions by name whenever possible! I'm lucky I didn't blow away anything that I couldn't recover from. I was just unlucky that it was a partition not normally included in odin reset tars.

So to recap how this is done, please correct me or agree.
If someone was installing CM 11 for the first time, they would:
1) Download the CM rom.
2) Download the GAPPS they prefer.
3) Download your 2 zip files for GSM ril provided in this thread.
4) Flash into recovery (assuming they had a custom recovery in place already)
5) Wipe data/cache/dalvik
6) Flash ROM, Gapps, and the 2 GSM ril zips you provided. (I prefer to flash Gapps after the first boot)
7) Reboot and watch it boot up.
8) Calls should work (assuming the correct apn settings are in place)
Agree?

Almost!
(2) is optional and can be done later. There's no dependency here.
For (3), you only need the GSM flash package. The cdma package is provided if you want to revert.
For (4), a custom recovery is a given, since CM can't be flashed on the vzw s4 without it
For (6), flash only the GSM package.
For (8), calls should work even if APN settings are broken.
The two things to test for is:
1. After you've placed a call and are connected to the other party (i.e. the call timer starts ticking), you can successfully hang up.
2. You can receive an incoming call.
And to answer the carrier specificity question -- I'm testing this with Taiwan Mobile, so it's most definitely not carrier specific.
I guess this would have to be re-flashed after each nightly update that is applied?

With the latest comment on the linked Jira thread (and a correct APN), I think that I have an AT&T SIM working in my Verizon S4 without this mod. Does anyone else have this experience? To clarify, here's what I did:
1. Wipe data and cache.
2. Install latest CM11 nightly and gapps.
3. Boot and confirm that everything is working.
4. Add the letter "U" to the build.prop line that said "ro.telephony.ril.v3=newDriverCall" by default.
5. Reboot and confirm that Verizon LTE still works.
6. Power off, insert AT&T SIM, power on.
7. Choose LTE/WCDMA/GSM in Mobile Network settings and select a working APN.
8. Get H or H+ icon in signal bars and use speed test to confirm the blazing fast 0.10M down, 0.13M up.
9. Place call to my Verizon number, check voicemail, and hang up normally (I didn't get stuck at "hanging up").
10. Place test call from Skype to AT&T number, pick it up on the S4, and hang up from the S4 normally.
Thanks!

With the latest comment on the linked Jira thread (and a correct APN), I think that I have an AT&T SIM working in my Verizon S4 without this mod. Does anyone else have this experience? (I should note that I flashed the GSM zip from OP three days ago, but I have since wiped, installed Hyperdrive ROM, wiped again, and reinstalled CM11 without flashing the GSM zip.)!

Are you running CM11 nightly or the snapshot?
FWIW, I tried "ro.telephony.ril.v3=newDriverCallU,newDialCode" from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50036251&postcount=1591 and it caused a segfault loop on bootup.
Given all the issues getting CM11 working well, I'm probably going back to stock MDK 4.2.2; it's still less bug-prone than CM11 is
I'm using the CM11 nightly. I didn't add the part after the comma to the build.prop line.
I am very grateful for this! I searched and searched for days for a way to fix my dialer not letting me hang up a call after switching to Straight Talk AT&T. Now if I could only figure out how to get 4g LTE instead of just H+, I would do backflips! I appreciate your post immensely!

Are you using the latest (MK2) radios? Those should get you LTE if AT&T has refarmed AWS LTE in your area.
I will try flash mk2 right now. Thanks. I'll report back ASAP.

FWIW, I flashed the non-hlos + modem.
Did you use the vruemk2 or the other one? I just did that one, but it was not the non-hlos. I read that you should only flash the non-hlos modem that matches your boot loader. I'm on mdk boot loader.

For anybody that wants to go back to 4.4.4 from 5.0 I can confirm it works great, I just flashed back with Odin. The 4.4.4 firmware is at sammobile right below the lollipop firmware. The 4.4.4 flash put it into a bootloop to which I then factory reset and it started up perfectly with none of the completely unusable issues I was having.
Bummed out that I can't use lollipop for the time being, but more than relieved that I have a usable phone again, I thought it was toast.Lollipop made my phone worthless, literally couldn't do anything, major bootloops and constant crashes.
I made another thread about it here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-note-3/help/reboots-lollipop-t3090421
You should retry the upgrade, it's faster and more stable. You just had a corrupted file or something, if you really want the best is worth a try. It's 40% faster. There was just something wrong with your install.
Did you do a factory reset when you upgraded? A lot of Note 4 users who upgraded had similar issues which a factory reset corrected.
I took the upgrade and found it to be faster and more reliable as well. Still fingers crossed for a root exploit. At least we know if an exploit ever happens for 4.4.4 then we can downgrade to get it. Good to know!
Oh really? I thought we couldn't roll back after taking 5.0. I am having a hard time a stable host to download 4.4.4
Can someone help me out with this? <confused>

Success! The 4.4.4 firmware took forever to download but worth it! Thank for this!

Trust me I really wanted it and tried all the usual steps. I think something is wrong with my phones hardware that works mostly ok on this version. I actually stayed on an old version for a very long time, I rooted "root de la vega" and took one ota using the supersu option to keep root when using an ota. The next update after that would not work for me, I would have had to wipe and odin to update, so I held off thinking I wasn't missing anything. Till about a week or less after 4.4.4 came out then my phone started crashing the moment I received or made a call. I hadn't gotten any new apps or anything like that but just in case I factory reset to see if it fixed with no luck. So I finally upgraded via odin, no root now, but miraculously my phone could make calls again. I am giving you this essay because I have a feeling this issue is related. It seems it's my phones hardware that is messed up and i'm just lucky that 4.4.4 works at all. I still have issues every couple days where I make or receive a call and hear nothing, with a reboot needed to fix, that is confirmed still after a fresh install of 4.4.4 after all the 5.0 stuff I tried. Anyways thats why I think it's my phone. I wish I had an extended warranty so I could just update and make a claim.
As for everything I tried in the update, I took the ota, which was literally unusable by anybodys standard, I could use the phone for about 5-20ish seconds before it would crash, turning the sound to mute would help, but still crash at a couple minutes of use. I downloaded the firmware and flashed via Odin, same exact issues, changed nothing. Did several factory resets between all these steps. I kind of walked through the process on that thread I posted in the OP.
After making this thread I did try it one last time and flashed via odin, knowing that I had a workable fix, but same exact thing again. If they release another update I'll try then, but looks like I'm stuck till then at least.

Yeah I did anything and everything I could, no luck. I think my phone itself is the problem.

Awesome, glad it helped. I'm SO glad they didn't block the ability to do this, I'd have been out a phone if they had.

Can you be more specific? There are two firmware versions that are 4.4.4-NJ6 and NK1. I assume you used NK1? I'm a newb and sort of know how to use Odin/download mode. What version of Odin did you use?
I want to rollback to the previous build until they sort out the radio issues. My phone was fine on NK1 but on lollipop it drops LTE indoors frequently. Aside from the radio issue, lollipop runs great. I factory reset after the update, didn't make a difference.

You can use any radio with any rom. Just flash the modem file via flash app or Odin.

Are you certain I can use a KitKat radio on lollipop? Verizon Note 3. If so, I'll do that right now.

I haven't done it, but I have mixed radios and roms before for example kitkat radio with JB rom.
Well, I'd still rather 4.4.4.. it's too bad. When I have strong LTE it's amazing. Did this speedtest today - kilobytes per sec. Incredible.

No matter what....once you go to lollipop, you can NOT go back to any earlier version.

Doesn't the OP state that you can revert back?

Yep. The OP did. Hell that's the title of the topic and there's two confirmed posters that did it successfully. I only wanted to know if they flashed NJ6 or NK1 and what build of Odin they used..

Okay, to anyone whose interested: I used Odin 3.09 & NK1 (most current VZW build of 4.4.4) and it worked. Phone went into a bootloop, started recovery did a factory reset an it's back to normal.
Lollipop ran fine on my phone-probably because I reset it as soon as I updated...BUT, my data signal was halved. I get a weak LTE signal at work and by weak I mean 1 or 2 bars 105-115DB at best. Old brick building and I work in the basement. On lollipop, it wouldn't hold onto LTE anymore. It'd flip between 1x/3g..usually settling on 3G. Voice was unaffected. Hopefully they sort this out but this sort of signal performance (especially when it was fine on KK) is unacceptable.
Rolling back to NK1 has solved that. Thanks to the OP!
I can also confirm that flashing 4.4.4 NK1 from 5.0.0 OB6 works.
Tried it myself, but after I got done playing with it I went back to 5.0.0 OB6 afterwards.
I didn't look to see if it kept the 5.0.0 radio when downgrading to 4.4.4, but it kept the 5.0.0 boot loader.
I did not test the radio (as I didn't have a usable sim card at the time.)
Also, don't try to run URDLV on the 4.4.4 firmware before flashing, it will not boot (even with a factory reset.)
But I didn't try to flash a modified 4.4.4 firmware after 4.4.4 was already on there.
so just so I understand there's no root for 4.4.4 or 5.0 but it's possible to go back to 4.4.4 from 5.0 ?
