[Q] Possible to manually rewrite your CID instead of using SuperCID.apk? - HTC Droid DNA

Would it be possible to use ADB to manually rewrite the CID to 11111111, and then generate an identifier token for htcdev.com?
Is it possible to do this with a locked bootloader and S-ON?

If it was possible, then beaups and jcase would've done that. Just use the current unlock methods since they work.

Current methods?

Already tried firewater. No go. I am getting the OTA updates now (was on 1.15). Tried moonshine on 2.8 (also fail). Going to try rumrunner on 3.6 next. Worth a shot.

OK, I could have been more specific. I am on ATT version 1.19 Hboot 1.40. Bootloader unlocked.
I have tried using all of the toolkits mentioned in the Sticky with no luck. I would just assume use ADB/fastboot method, but I dont see directions in the Sticky.
Your sarcasm is greatly appreciated though

The standard method works fine. I just unlocked and rooted my 1.19 RUU with hboot 1.40 last week using hasoon's kit, TWRP 2.5 and SU.zip. No issues.

It should either work without it or provide a way to get it. It would seem pretty pointless if it doesn't as if you are unlocked you can already s off.

Moonshine will facilitate your phones ability to unlock via HTCDEV, which is needed to s-off your phone. Once s-off, you no longer need to be unlocked.

I think your a little confused. Moonshine will likely be an s-off method (direct s-off)... anyway my point being that htcdev does not facilitate s-off at all, it simply unlocks the bootloader allowing the use of custom recoveries and hence roms/kernels. My money is on a direct s-off method because i know the nature of beaups and fuses hacking background and previous work.
furthermore if im correct then htcdev wont be entirely necessary because a different hboot can be flashed without it giving the user write access to the boot and system partitions
I don't think it's possible to unlock without htcdev... I can't wait to put some sense 5 then cm 10.1.... I actually had a question regarding backups before I root. How exactly should I be backing up my phone? Unlock–>put twrp –> use x app to create nandroid and get that on computer somehow and then flash?

Can you flash a custom recovery with s-off?
I thought beaups mentioned after s-off you flash the eng hboot, ruu 1.15, get supercid, and then unlock through htcdev.

It's possible that I'm confused, but, I do know that for facepalm to work, you had to be unlocked using super CID. Then you could do the s-off method. I was basing my statement on that. It's entirely possible that moonshine does not require an unlocked bootloader to work. We will find out in due time.
Edit: I'm fully aware that HTCDEV does not give s-off.
From my S-Off DNA
Moonshine will not require htc-dev unlock on the DNA. If it did, it would be useless for the stuck 2.xx users.
It will give you s-off and "UNLOCK" status, together.

Seeing as its called the same thing and the screenshots, I assume they found a common method. Possibly has huge implications.... its really hard to tell without the release or without a hint as to how it works. They, understandably, probably wont say if it can get patched or something.

[Q] Quick Unlock question

I'd just like to know if there is a way to unlock the boot, maybe via adb commands, without having to go through HTC Dev for a code, and thus, have my phone completely wiped in the process. This is a warranty replacement, so I know how to go about the processes, for the most part. I'd just hate to have my phone wiped. My searching isn't coming up with anything. Thank you.
Yes there is. But you'll already need to be S-OFF to do it.

Try Firewater. It worked on mine a couple of weeks ago. But it has 1.55 HBOOT & 4.3 still. Using the temproot method I got S-OFF & unlocked bootloader without any issue. Not sure if the temproot method is working with 1.56 & KK. Doesn't hurt to try it out though.

Trying to S-Off but doesn't work! HBoot 2.49

I want to S-Off my One Max (international) and change unlocked to lock, remove the tempered word because fingerprint scanner is not working.
Tried rumrunner doesn't work, it ask me to flash compatible kernel (what? I'm just using a stock ROM with root) and firewater doesn't work too!
Spending my whole night fixing it :crying: Any solution?
compatible driver, no htc software, checked debugging, running latest SuperSU. Is it because of not compatible with HBoot 2.49?

I have had tried 3 different tools. rumrunner, firewater and revone.
Nothing was able to get S-OFF with hboot 2.49.
Tampered and Unlocked - but that's it.

I'm having the same issue.
My VZW updated as soon as I opened it up out of the box and I let the update run not knowing the issues i'd run into.
I'm on hboot 2.49. 4.4.2.
I can get root with weaksauce, but for some reason the firewater temproot wasn't working for me. I've tried rumrunner (both universal and specific version), and firewater. No dice.

I have had no chance. Do you have an international device?
If yes can you explain how you have done this?
I have seen that the hboot 2.49.000 will also update the TZ partition. And I guess there is the problem why it will not work. I have had used almost every S-OFF tool for the OneMax but nothing will run to the end.

I am having the EXACT same issue as you. I am running HBOOT 2.49 on a stock, factory locked, unrooted, odexed Verizon HTC One Max.
For the life of me, I cant achieve S-OFF regardless of everything I have tried, including the tools you listed above (rumrunner, firewater and revone). I am at the point of giving up, I have spent 2 days trying to figure it out with no success. it must be an incompatibility of these tools with the 2.49 HBOOT firmware. I am eagerly waiting for a developer to give me a working solution.
There is a thread at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2765383 where developer Mrt69 CLAIMS to have an S-OFF & superuser package that will work on this version of HBOOT, but his link for S-OFF package just takes me to dating sites and other random malware/garbage, not the package itself. so I have been unable to test. let me know if you have any luck.
I am also running windows 8.1 Pro, but have also tried it under Windows 7 with the exact same problems.
