Can someone help me understand the tmo VoLTE announcement? They say it is now nationwide but there are no details on what that means. Did they light up the entire network? I have the last update before today with support and it is turned on but calls aren't made over VoLTE and I'm NOT in one of the original markets.

You failed to link to the announcement that you referred to. What I read was just PR spin. John Legere described the VoLTE rollout as having reached "Nationwide status" a rather vague and meaningless description that is simply meant to sound impressive to people who aren't paying attention to details.
It does not mean that all TMobile customers now have VoLTE. Just that the rollout has progressed enough that they feel they can get away with using vaguely impressive adjectives like "Nationwide".

I don't think this list is complete. They have more than this on some pr announcements.
It is sort of weird tmo doesn't have any sort of web page for volte info

It's not complete. I live in pa and Allentown and reading (not on your list) have volte. I'm pretty sure it's wherever there is lte you'll have volte. Just make a call and if it says "HD" or you don't lose lte then you know it's working. I had to flash the nf6 update twice before it actually worked. My modem wasn't sticking.

HD voice and volte aren't the same. HD exists through the whole network. Only way to tell is if you don't drop lte
Its almost if not everywhere lte is present currently. Im in a tiny hole in the wall that is always the last to get upgrades on every carrier and it is working here.

Anyone in the San Antonio area? we are supposed to have LTE service but I have been driving around town and I cant get it to connect to 4G LTE, I called sprint customer care and they said that according to their system everything is ok that there are still expanding the network BUT that it should connect...
San Antonio here as well. No luck finding any LTE. Like you, I've been told it should be up. No idea what could be wrong. I've checked my data settings and it's set appropriately.
I would say if your still stock just drop by a sprint corporate store and double check with them. If sprint says it's on and you can't connect at all... I would cover my bases. Ya know? Just in case
Shifted from Outer Space
And I'm in San Antonio and I know of no one using LTE yet
Shifted from Outer Space
I checked my EPST settings and it says 'CDMA HDR LTE Only', so it should connect... hopefully they turn on the the LTE antennas soon....
Did this...yeah.... Almost like they purposely pull the worst resumes out of the bunch and put em on the payroll. Like they're punking us or something!!!! They knew nothing. GRRRRR!!!!!
EDIT: Spoke to another TECH rep on phone... Apparently work was supposed to be completed on 18th according to the last work order in system. Order is still open so he told me should be any day now. So...that said...we're no closer to definitive date. Thought I would share what I just heard.

AWESOME!!! thanks bro!
I'm in San Antonio as well and have been wondering the same thing. Hopefully it'll be on soon!
I am in Dallas, also one of the first to get LTE service. Ummmm I hate to be so sarcastic, but it calls for it. IDK wth them Sprint reps are talking about. Proof positive customer care suuuuuucks. Just making up stuff. Ummmm LTE is not even active on Sprint yet. Due to be this summer!

I just spend 30 min on the phone with the sprint rep and we did a number of "tests" and "resets" he reset my profile, my data profile, my PRL they re provisioned my phone, they did a ##72786# + MSL and that basically reset EVERYTHING... and still nothing... they said that the next step is to get it to the store... I don't know what else and different they can do there....
he kept saying "well you have excellent 4G coverage in the area that you are in..." and I asked "are you talking about wimax coverage or LTE?" and he was evasive and didn't answer that question... he said "you have excellent 4G coverage for the phone you have..." I asked again and nothing.... LOL
anyways... I guess in gonna take in to the store and see what other BS they give me...
LTE is not turned on in any market at all that I'm aware of. Everyone you're talking to at Sprint is just an idiot. They think 4g is 4g and they don't even know there are two types.
Sure you have great 4g Wimax coverage in your area. That won't do you any good.

yup, they have all the lte sites blocked right now. the tower that services my house out in helotes had it live for about a week but now its blocked.
I think I read somewhere had LTE live right now? Well regardless when San Antonio gets LTE please let us all know! I'm on my EVO 3D for WiMax till LTE goes live
there were several but not many tests sites in houston, san antonio, dallas, and probably other cities that some people have picked up on. However, it must have been testing as they have blocked access to those towers again. awaiting for a official launch date?
http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/212-network-visionlte-deployment-running-list/
This link should help some....not showing the markets complete yet...I would suspect that they have not turned on the switch yet to allow everyone on....who knows for sure though except for Sprint.
I read on another post that LTE was up and running in Dallas, drove to Dallas for the weekend and unless I got a broken EVO I did not get LTE service in Dallas, has anyone gotten LTE service yet?
Posting from my new EVO near Overland Park KS ... LTE is working and working well! Can anyone confirm if it has been launched everywhere today or is it just a network test or something ?
Thanks
LOL you're damn near the headquarter's campus. Not surprised.
Sprint probably has it up for the HQ area.

nothing officially yet....likely still testing in your location...dont be surprised if you can't connect to LTE in those same locations in near future as they go back to blocking them....
unless they stop that practice and start allowing devices to connect to the already tested locations...
Update guys: After leaving an area around a corporate store, the LTE disabled. I guess it was just enabled around a certain area, as I don't get it by my house! :'(
Hope they enable it soon
I live north of the river and nothing yet. Nothing downtown either nor at Kauffman Stadium. Lucky!

Thanks, I was just curious on the speeds. Doesn't look all that fast especially with no one on the network. I actually miss wimax a LITTLE bit. It was just nice to have as an option if I wanted it. Gonna tough it out till LTE is up. I wish Nextel would just shut off, instead have to wait another year plus will have to buy new hardware for 800Mhz band.
Really you will have to buy new hardware in a year?
I wish I knew that!! I thought this EVO was future-proof
*falls over face-forward*
Its not a bad thing really. 800mhz LTE wasnt approved yet so they couldnt build it into the EVO LTE. If Lightsquared was approve we would all be sitting on some pretty fast LTE speeds rite now.
Is there an LTE "Air Rave" ? maybe the store was using that, causing my LTE limited radius Also it might explain why it's so slow compared to the speeds reported in live Dallas LTE
Also do you think sprint will let me upgrade sooner if the 800mhz LTE launches within two years? I bought this phone to be future proof with Sprint's "latest" network, only to read in this thread that the current-gen LTE will be replaced by an even newer/faster/better/stronger 800mhz LTE in a couple years.
Dont worry. It won't be replaced. They're just adding a band and future phones will have connectivity to 1900 & 800 bands. AFAIK

It just says "4G" instead of "3G" so it's pretty easy to tell if you're on LTE

Orange County, where? Florida?
This happened to me in LA country a couple months back but it actually changed back to evdo a so I'm not sure it means much. And if you mean orange county California I wouldn't get your hopes up too high. LA should be almost done before you get any lte and there isn't any lte in LA yet.

I was driving in North Austin, between Wells Branch and Howard Lane, and I picked up my phone to answer a phone call and lo and behold my phone had connected to 4G. I was so surprised I missed the phone call! Looks like Sprint may be starting to test towers and perhaps a 4G rollout could be imminent. Can any other Austinites confirm that they are starting to receive LTE on their phone?

Nice! Hopefully we will be getting a full rollout soon. Mods, feel free to close my thread then and I will move my question to the appropriate place.
So woke up this morning to find I had LTE. only one bar but speeds are encouraging.
Yep, noticed it last night while driving down I-15. LTE is basically everywhere now! I've verified Las Vegas, SLC, Manhattan, Newark, Bethlehem (PA) and Detroit.
Overnight implementation, just like Verizon. Kudos T-Mo. Guess we know what their bold announcement in the next few days will be!
All of this on the $30 prepaid plan too. The best setup in wireless, period!
It's up in O-town too
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4 Beta
It's in Lindon and American Fork too. I work in Draper and it's here as well.
Yea I notice that too, there LTE at my house in the west valley area, but I don't need LTE there I have Wi-Fi at home. I need it at my work in Sandy but sadly they don't have it yet.

SLC LTE
Hey Guys I enabled my LTE on my Nexus 4 the other day and when I made it to SLC this morning sure enough it was there. Speeds were promising but could have been a little better. Anyways check it out!
LTE down most of Bangerter HWY also seeing LTE from state street to 5600 west from 3900 s and 3500s and 4500s. Noticing it also going towards the airport from 4700s down 5600w it's getting stronger too, bars have increased past few days
It's been in SLC for about a month now. They have been slowing flipping it on. Only about half of the towers have LTE right now, with the rest of them coming by the end of the summer and a few by the end of the year.

I just got on t-mobile this month, when I was signing up they had a page pulled up with all the towers and expected dates they would go live with LTE.
There hspa is pretty impressive, that is usually what I get at work inside, sometimes I get LTE, but it is so weak of a signal its not worth it.

I know they plan on updating every site along the Wasatch Front. I'm not sure of specific dates, but I have seen maps of Salt Lake County, Davis County, and Weber County and most of the sites are supposed to be done by the end of the year. There are a few that are planned for next year too, but once complete, there should be total LTE coverage in the area.
