[Q] Screen froze, cannot shut down - Ornate TrueSmart

Dear Sirs,
my Omate Truesmart's screen froze completely at the settings screen after I tried to reenable bluetooth. Now the screen is on and the buttons are not working (tried holding them for a minute) so I cannot power it off in any meaningful way. I have no tiny screwdrivers here (on vacations).
Does anyone know any way to shut down this device without dismantling it?
Or do I have to wait for the battery to discharge completely?
I have seen such absurd situation on no other device yet so far..
All best.

So how did it go? Battery empty and now up and running again?
I had the same with my device. I did had the tiny screwdriver at hand and removed the battery. Now the back lid won't fully close...

Exactly, the ghost left the watch after a few hours, and now it works again.
I thought to put it on the sun to overheat the CPU and trigger the reboot, but then - it might never wake up
So, the bottom line is - always carry watchmaker's tools in your pocket!
Cheers

Nah, leave the lid as long as you can. Like I said, mine won't fully close now. One drop of water in the wrong place and it's is bye bye TS.

[Q] Digitizer freaking out on anyone else?

This has been happening more often the past week or so.
I'm running the late-December-2012 "Energy ROM" release, and from time to time the touchscreen goes all wonky on me. It seems random but is happening more often as time goes on.
I can, for example, tap to open my Gmail account, but then holding my finger down in one spot in the message list will cause it to scroll down, scroll up, select and deselect different messages - sometimes when I tap on a message it registers somewhere else altogether.
I did apply a Skinomi skin not too long ago, so I'm wondering also if it's interfering somehow. I thought it was lotion having come off my hand once, mimicking another finger, but now it happens even when totally dry.
Anyone else find this one?
Thanks,
R
Is it plugged in or laying on a wire that is plugged in?

It is plugged in when it happens - I generally leave it plugged in at home - but not always.
Unless you count 'plugged in' as in, attached to the dock.
I pulled off and replaced the skin yesterday, I think I did a better job on the 2nd time through.

sometimes being plugged in to power source from wall or laying on a wire that has power to it will cause touchscreen to be erratic. get it away from power it will be fine.

This has started happening for me aswell at random. I don't have any skin on it or plugged in. Do you know if I can send it to ASUS to see about repairing it even though I have unlocked the bootloader?

Well - with a sample size of one, this seems to work.
I was having trouble scrolling through a large list of items, it was jumping all over - I unplugged the dock from the wall charger, and it smoothed right out.
So - thanks to whycali again!

XZU goes crazy very often now

Its getting more and more often. My XZU screen goes crazy randomly. Crazy means.....like multiple presses on the phone are happening at the same time and apps are starting without pressing, even the homescreen goes crazy and goes into edit mode and the crazy ness is so crazy that I cannot even turn off the phone because the moment I hold down the power button and it shows the power off window, it immediately goes off. I cannot go to the apps I want because random ads are all going off at the same time. This whackyness normally goes away when I reboot the phone....however, I discovered today that after rebooting the symptoms came back immediately. I had to reboot twice more in order to get the phone back working properly.
HELP!!!!!

you could change the sensitivity of the screen.
There is a file that you can edit.
navigate to system/usr/idc "max1187x_touchscreen_0"
If you edit this in a notepad app or root explorer... then find the code:
touch.filter.level = 2
and change it to 4 or maybe 6.. to make it more sensitive..
- or 1 to make it less sensative

I had similar problem few times too, but it stopped after cleaning a screen. Try to do this it may be not software issue ^^.

I also have this problem. It's mostly because there is water (even very small amount, like sweaty fingers) on the screen. Just wipe the screen and make it dry.
Also for some people(like me) the problem only happens on a certain area of the screen. That area of the original film on the screen is damaged, and water on that part of the film just won't go off. You can try washing you phone with tap water, and you can see that water will stay on the defective part of the screen forming a small water pool, and clean and dry(maybe some water bead) on the rest part of the screen.
I've sent back my phone to sony for repair. Hopefully they can replace the original film. If not I guess I'll go for another screen protector.

Yeah, that's the oleophobic coat coming off in certain areas. Mine's come off in the lower left corner, but that doesn't bother me since i can't see it unless i hold a flashlight over it.

how I wish I came to XDA earlier.. I just googled "oleophobic coating" and found out that I can repair that myself, at very low cost(about the same as the shipping cost to send it for repair...)
Well at least if sony sent it back unrepaired I can still do it myself. Just one month without my precious won't kill me (thinking positively!)

NEW S6 Edge Owner needs some help :)

Hello everyone,
As the title suggests I'm now another proud owner of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge (SM-G925F) and immediately a few questions rose.
First of all, I unboxed my device and did the first power on. However, I noticed something weird. From the 1st power on it only had 3% battery ! Is this normal guys? From all of the unboxing videos I watched on YouTube all of them where 40% + after the 1st power on! Is it normal to be so low ?? So, I immediately shut it down and got it charging.
Second, after plugging it in to charge it started from 0%. Probably it even lost these 3% it had lol. Anyway, charging started nice and fast but I noticed another thing. The phone got really hot while charging! Is this normal again? The back was quite hot and the aluminum bezels on the sides as well (especially side lower parts). I know that this device has fast charging so it may be this and also maybe that it started charging from too low , 0% .
(UPDATE: now that it is at 99% it's has really cooled down)
My 3rd question is probably a foolish one but forgive me please. :silly: When I got it out of the box, since I'm a crazy perfectionist, I started examining the body of this jewel with a really bright torch light hahaha. Everything seemed flawless apart from a couple of tiny little marks on the lower left part of the home button. (not scratched some kind of marks like tiny glue residue maybe) They didn't get away after wiping them, even with little water on a cloth. Also, they are not really visible. Maybe they are a bit in really bright conditions but still you should look for them to see them. So, are these kind of tiny imperfections normal too? I guess so, but just wanted to say hahahha.
One more. My heart rate sensor seem to have a little plastic protector applied on it. Am I right? I'm quite afraid to pull it so, is there a little membrane there? In camera, I'm not sure.
Thanks in advance and have fun happy owners!
When I got my first smartphone, the Motorola Droid Ultra on initial boot it had 1% battery, so battery being low on first boot is not unheard of. Yet you are right that it should have 40% on initial boot. The battery going to zero before going up again is something I have experienced as well. The phone getting hot is expected with how rapidly energy enters the battery. The last two I am unsure about. If you can remove the plastic do so

Thanks for your quick response!
Alright, so yea the low 1st power-on battery seems normal. I also asked Samsung and they say it's normal since they don't set any specific charge amount from factory but they just use it as much as needed (for quality control, I assume).
About the heart rate sensor yea, I realized that it has a little protector film which can be removed.
Also, what I told about the little "marks" on home button let me explain. You can't actually see this normally. You have to have your home button fully clean and then point a bright torch to it and then look carefully on the bottom left part of it and you can see some tiny little "marks" but still can't see them at every angle. However, they are not scratches, it may just be some little debris or glue residue under the button surface, probably on the fingerprint scanner. (maybe during assembly) But again this is from a crazy perfectionist's eye!:laugh::laugh: You can't see it in normal use. I guess if you take many S6 Edges out of the box and start examining them with a powerful torch, mm by mm for sure you will find different kind of "imperfections" in any of those. This thing must be the same for every device. But I like doing it just to know if there's something there in the first place.
Also, about the warm up thing. I updated to Android 6 and performed a hard reset afterwards. Also I disabled fast-charging from the menu. (don't know if it's also disabled when you charge the phone fully shut down tho.) In normal use the temperature is fine. When charging tho (when shut down) it warms up quite a bit on rear and on side bezels. So, you S6 Edge does the same?
Thanks a lot.

Also, 1 last question (detail style again).
When you start up the notification led lights dark blue and then lighter blue in sequences. So when it does that, I can tell that there is a little "2nd" led that lights up on the right side of the notification led and makes it brighter blue. My question is that, can you see that in yours? I ask this because in my Galaxy Alpha you can't tell where the "little leds" are but you just see a clean light changing colors. On S6 Edge though, you can tell that the notification led area must be somehow "splitted" so like there is "another little led" on the right side lighting up and changing the color. Is it the same to you?
Thanks
The low battery percentage you had in your phone is just normal.
The phone gets hot when it's being charged especially when it starts from a very low percentage. Do you imagine the amount of energy getting into your phone's battery? That's a lot.
Speaking of leds, mine has the same too.
Hope you have a great time with your phone!

HELP!!!

My Z2 accidentally got submerged in water, and the water got in the phone. Basically I was in the kitchen while suddenly my phone slipped and fell into the bowl full of water, the charging port flap is very lose so it got open and voila. I've removed the water from the phone but there's still some moisture under the front and back cameras. The phones boots up just fine but the screen flickers a little bit and after 5-10 secs it goes completely black. I just want to know if I keep it off for sometime, and when all the water will evaporate, will it go back to normal or I will have to get it repaired? Thanks
Edit 1: I just found out that the touch screen works even after the display going off soon I tried increasing the brightness to full and the screen started working, although it still flickers a very little. On keeping the brightness on minimum the screen goes off again

No Fastboot/Flashmode, no LED

Hi guys,
so I'm having a minor (maybe major) issue with my device. I'm (was) running the Resurrection Remix Oreo without problems. I did have an annoying problem with my proximity sensor tho (black screen when making a call, up until now I used the power button to hang up).
I tried to disable the sensor using sensor disabler from the xposed framework. After reboot I tried making a call and my phone shut off.
No LED, no falshmode, no fastboot, no vibrating after holding down power+volume up. Any idea of how to fix this?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Edit: Got this fixed by simply de- and re-connecting the battery. All good!

Oops, im sorry, I overlooked your reply. You have to open the backcover to get to the battery. It's really easy, just heat the back up a little using a hairdryer, carefully lift the cover at the top using a suction cup and try to get underneath it using a plastic pick (a butter knife also does the job if you're careful). After you're in, just work your way around the back cover until it comes off.
Check this video, if something's not clear
Sorry again for the late reply!
