Where's the water intrusion indicator? - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

On the Xperia Z, there's an indicator behind the flaps, which turns pinkish red when in contact with water. Is there any similar indicator for the Z2?

It seems as though there is. If you hold your phone so the screen is facing up, open the Micro SD card slot and pull out the information tab (the one with your model number and manufacturing date on) you will be able to see it on the motherboard. At least I am assuming that is what the white strip is.

Can't find it. Also I wasn't able to find it on Z1.

[Q] SIM Card in wi-fi

just picked up my tab 10.1 this saturday... and my second unit this afternoon.
1st on had a weird blemish (i think water spots) on the inside of the display causing a rainbow-like swirling on the display.
anyway.. question. why is there a SIM card slot if this version doesn't have 3G?
There shouldn't be, can you link a picture? The Wifi model GT-P7510 has only the volume control and the power button on the top side.
The "water spot" is a manufacturing defect and seems to be common enough that the sales guy at the store I bought mine at mentioned it. You should return it ASAP.

[Q] [GO] Water Damage, Screen Flickering. Solution

Hi guys,
I took my Go out for a swim and after my swim, the screen started to flicker and eventually the screen died(yes, all the flaps were closed, I double checked). Now this was last month, and I did the whole rice bag thing, and still no improvement :3 But occasionally the screen comes back to life when I tap on it and then dies again.. And last week, I just happened to switch on the phone and it started working like nothing ever happened! And yesterday it stopped working again I took it to the Sony store and they say that it might take about 400RM(120USD) to fix it.. Is there anything that I can do to fix this??
Try to have it tested for water resistance, if a machine test shows leaks even after cleaning the caps it's not your fault (at least if $ony follows their service manuals to the letter)
You can open the screws up in the back and manually troubleshoot what is up with it. Check it for any water or moisture on the inside or any damage from it. Good luck

@Hukanawa
Did you switch it off the instant it got wet. Using the internally wet phone could damage the main board which could be causing the problems.
Or the screen could have been screwed up...

I did switch it off after the screen started flickering :/.. I opened her up today and theres a a little of rust on one of the connectors that lead from the screen to the board..
Well there you go. Youre gonna have to get new parts or fix the old ones.
Try removing the rust from the connector, then fully drying the insides and see if the screen turns on if you moove the connector around. Also check ebay for the price of a new screen. It might be cheaper then you think.

After water damage my xperia z3 having the same problem! Screen flickering, brightness is very low I can barely see anything in daylight! Otherwise everything working fine! Any idea what might causing the problem? Is it the screen or the motherboard is damaged?

Please close side cover message ?

Greetings All,
Just a quick question, do the side covers have a sensor that let's the phone know if they are open? The reason why I ask is because my phone on reboot/power up asks me to close the covers even though they are closed. It also asks me to close the covers every now and then when I have been using the phone. So I am wondering if there is a sensor, is mine faulty? I don't think we have a sensor but that's why I am asking. I have done a factory reset numerous times with no change.
Thanks all.

Hi,
They don't have a sensor, the message will pop up on reboot, and anytime you disconnect a cable or insert a microsd card. The phone recognises the connection and knows a flap has been opened

Went to the Sony shop. They told me they can't change the St for me as they claim that the case I was using caused the issue. They even told me that it I can only get a refurbished model 1 for 1 exchange.

Dim Flash Light is on any time sony xperia z2

I have Sony Xperia Z2 (D6502). I rooted this device. After that dim flash light on everyday even not off in switched off condition.
I have flashed allmost all (kitkat,LP,MM) stock ftf using flashtool but still the dim flash light is on everytime.
What to do?
Is this because of lost DRM keys?
Please help me.
Compare with other Z2 device, any different? Or if you like, then try to boost your flashlight with editing file flashled_calc_parameters.cfg..

it is absolutely a short circuit on the mother board probably caused by water (if you ever used it in water) but for sure it is not a software Issue.
water even after drying can make a little corrosion on the mother board contacts which acts like a resistance conducting electricity to your flash light.
