Now I know this is very unlikely, but are there or is there any ways to get 4k movies on my g3? I'd love to put this screen to use, and if so where, if not what are some great normal hd New films that look great?

The screen is 2k & the camera is 4k
You can YouTube 2k video test or something like that to test out the screen, the videos included in stock gallery shows off the screen well
Try Netflix, they just updated to Ultra HD accounts. I upgraded and I see a difference on my G3... Takes a while to buffer to best quality tho...

Anyone know if it will work? I pulled one from an Evo ROM, but it said it couldn't be installed. Would be nice to have it play in the highest def as default.
I used the one from cm 5.0.8. Worked like a charm. My girl's phone isn't rooted & she just installed the apk & upgraded the youtube app using astro
Isn't the I've from 5.0.8 just the regular one?

Right, my bad. I forgot I modded cm5.0.8 myself to have that in there from the start. Sorry about that, here's the apk I used
Isn't the factoryyoutube app on the vibrant hd? When I watch a video I click the menu soft key and scroll to the bottom and click watch in high quality.

The apk I posted has the option in the settings to set high quality as default
But When i watch Videos on the youtube app on my vibrant i go to settings and it says watch in normal quality that means it's already on high quality right?

I'm not sure. Are you using wifi? If you are in wifi, it will default to high quality. But this option will make it default to high quality if you are on edge, 3g or wifi

Thanks for the find. Works fine on my vibrant.
HQ video selection.
That would be nice. It's annoying having to go to settings and choose high quality ever time I watch a video. I get great 3g in my area so I rarely use wifi

Very helpful! Thanks for the tip!!
Here are a couple videos I found to really show off the screen.
Trailer for The Hobbit in 4k
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t56ooXC9VmY
ST. JOHN / U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS in 4K - This one is really amazing. Anyone who says 1080p is pointless on a 5 inch screen needs to watch this. It almost looks 3D

you can use tubemate to download at 1920x1080 resolution. I use it for longer videos because even on my 50mbps home connection, youtube doesn't buffer worth sh!t.
Tubemate isn't in the market, but is on several other sites including getjar and amazon appstore.
Holy crap using tubemate and downloading them and playing with mx player....wow simply wow

Thanks for this tip. Streaming from YouTube was good quality, but using this app to get the full 1920x1080 files is stunning!
Hi, does anyone else having the same issue as what I'm having? Youtube quality isn't as good on this device compared to galaxy note 3 or HTC one.
Videos play smoothly but the quality and the sharpness of the videos seems to blur and not as sharp and I already set the youtube setting to HD.

Download boat browser or another preferred browser with support for flash and watch 1080p without a problem.
If that's not an option, get the youtube mod allowing for 1080p streaming. Although I couldn't get it to work it might get fixed soon.
Turn off X-reality also, it kills YouTube.

I already knew that option but its not as easy as playing via app. Anyway thanks for your suggestion
I tried Viral Youtube app and its quality even though max it support 720p as of now(earlier used to support 1080p) is really fantastic.I find it much better than default youtube app.
Slow Motion had been working fine for me except for the fact that it is very grainy and Pixelated despite video details showing that it is 720p. Anyone else have similar problems?

Same for me. Have you tried watching the videos on another screen other than the phone? I thought it may just be the playback frame rate causing the issue and not the actual recording. I haven't exported anything yet myself.

HereLG G3 Slow motion test: http://youtu.be/rpuNL4m8Dds is a link to the video I just recorder at 120 FPS unfortunately, the YouTube player does not support slow motion like other video players such as vlc. So feel free to download it and have a look if you want to see it in slow motion. The picture quality ad you can see looks like 360p and seems to be upscale to 720p. I still think something is wrong based in the other G3 slow motion videos I have seen on the Internet.

Using danvdh 4.4.4 GPE ROM. YouTube max is 720p.
I also have a stock VZW Galaxy S5 that allows me to select 1080p. Same video.
Confused.
I'm running Vanir and I only have up to 720p option as well. Personally on a screen our size I doubt it makes much of a difference.

Me neither I've even tried viral and it wouldn't allow me to use 1080p on my s4 why
