If your SD has FAT32 file system, than max.file size is limited to 4GB. If you need to download larger files. Format it to exFAT.

Hey!
I had some apps moved to the internal storage using the stock app2sd feature of Froyo... only to discover that some of them got lost after one or more reboots.
Data is still there but the apps are not installed anymore. Only way to recover them is to reinstall them from the market.
Anybody else facing this issue?
Cheers,
Kashban
for move the apk on internal memory
see applications

Not sure it is the firmware problem or froyo problem.

means that you are testing a new beta, correct? Any improvements on wlan?
Thanks
I don't have these problems on A70, running 2.0.54.
But I don't have a ton of apps
Also, I've managed to fix WiFi problem on encrypted network.
Switch to AES (from TKIP), WPA2-PSK, channel 1, fixed IP (before was assigned via DHCP).
am I doing something wrong cause when I seem to use app2sd to move to internal storage it moves to the 8GB storage and not the 32 GB microSD card I have installed. what am I doing wrong?
I also had the problem with apps having issues, but I uninstalled app2sd and reinstalled and it seemed to fix the issue (the manual update cratered)
You are doing nothing wrong.
App2SD as Archos hasimplemented it uses the internal SD.
You can't change this.

so then the microsd card is just for my music and movie files?
can I even save ebooks(kindle, nook, google, aldilko) to the card or is that also just limited to the internal storage?
That up to that Software, not up to Archos or Android.

You cannot save to your SDCard. These apps work with "sdcard" which is the name for internal memory. The actual sdcard is sdcard\sdcard
What I do is keep all the epubs on the internal memory and all the pdf books on my 32GB sdcard. That works for me.
You seem to be working with / for Archos, may I ask you a few questions:
1) Will the next firmware offer the option to hide the soft buttons menu bar?
2) Is it possible to 'resize' the system (app) storage? Archos has 256MB RAM and 299MB of app storage. The Galaxy S, i saw, has 1.7GB app storage. Surely it does not have 1.7GB RAM.
Thanks
Hello
Right, a few questions.
Wanting to download a few games to my phone for obvious reasons. However have become confused after reading different things on different webistes.
For Gameloft games (I will use Asphalt 6 as an example) you are meant to according to most websites, download the .apk and SD card files from your laptop to save time for your device. However, I have been confused at a few things.
1) After installing the .apk, are the SD files not meant to go onto your Micro SDHC card? If so, what are all the patches around for?
2) I need the games on my SD card, not internal memory, is this just a case of what I have stated above?
3) How do I verify these games? I have seen 2 videos on YouTube but they do not make sense. After downloading the SD card data, do I just say No when it asks me to download via WiFi, and the game will run? Or is there a more complex process
Thanks a lot to anyone who answers

Downloading .apk files from internet is quite unsecure, you never know if you get correct game or not, virus or not, full of sh*t or not.
SD data goes on your SD card indeed, location varies with the game.
Some games check your Market account first, if you have bought it or not. If not...too bad, no fun for you. Some patches(LuckyPatcher) is used to change the Market license, so that game sees you bought it.
Last question. As I said, the location varies with the game. If it asks you to download files, you don't have the SD data in the correct location. Try to match the folder in .zip/.rar file(downloaded SD data) to the folder on your SDcard Android\data folder or just data folder on your sdcard.
EDIT: Forgot one question.
Install games first in internal memory, then you can move these to SDcard. SD data is anyway on SD, so no internal memory is used for it.
Thanks for that
So I don't need to verify any Gameloft games at all?
As in as long as everything is in the right location it will just open as normal?
Thanks

It sometimes tells you to download the game via WiFi even when you have already downloaded it and put it on the SD card

If it asks to download, then it means you don't have those SD files or they are not in correct location.

What happens when you download other files? Tell me about this so I'll understand whether it's the problem of the file itself or not.

You'd better to search to see if other users have the same issue. May be the internal storage of your device supports only app installation, not file download. You may repartition the device storage to get a free space disguised as a 'virtual' SD card.
Please help as this is driving me up the wall. I have a 16gb WiFi/lte Tablet (sp321) and I don't seem to be able to copy things to my sd card via es explorer, the built in sony unlimited video app, my seagate media app.....I can do file copies and create new folders using file commander.
I originally assumed it was my Samsung 64gb card but as it could be mounted and formatted and copied to by file commander, Google music I wasn't sure. So I swopped it for my Sony 64gb card with the same results. OK I know the 321 doesn't support 64gb cards so I got a samsung 32gb card, formated that in the tablet but still the same results.
I actually want to download the free movies I got from the Sony unlimited store when I bought my z2 but everytime I try to download them I get the error unable to write them to the sd card so going to use the local storage.
My device is unrooted, bootloader locked.
Please help
Si
KitKat itself blocks access to the SD storage to every system app. It is mainly due security and speed. It's not Sony's fault. If you want to use it just like before, root your device and install and run an app called SdFix. Should do the job

Thanks for the quick reply, could you clarify what you mean by every system app ? File Commander does work but Sony Video Unlimited ( which I had to download a newer version that the play store was offering to show up my purchases from my Z2 ) doesn't have access.
I think I might do you suggest and root but I'm not sure if iPlayer will still work as they say they won't work on rooted devices.
Thanks again for your help
Si
Scrap the questions above, I've read about SDFix and the assosicated reasons so as soon as I get home I'll root and install.
Given that all SDFix does is update an XML file thats not availble to the standard user, I assume after the fix has been applied I can unroot if I need to ?
Thanks
Si

z2 lollipop build 23.1.a.0.726 issues
1) move apps to sd card is a joke,
as it only move the tiny (apk) file to sd while leaving the huge (obb) file eating the internal storage
Take example (badland game) apk size 23mb. And obb is 143 mb
Is that normal with Sony phones , it works perfectly on my Samsung note 10.
2) there is No haptic feedback option, why?
I really want to disable vibration for all notifications and not all apps has individual option for vibration
Can I solve the obb problem without root?
Will Sony fix these issues?

No. Without root you can't do anything. It is no very difficult to root LP if you flash prerooted firmware zip file via recovery.
For moving app and obb folder I use Link2SD Pro on Kitkat which have that nice feature also to move obb folder of games to SD card. So far for me that is best app for moving application to SD card. And it will move everything what you want (apk, cache, app forlder and etc.).
@icpart
Since you rooted your Z2, use foldermount pro.
As it move the files as a normal Android do
To
(sdcard1/Android /obb)
Not like link2sd do
It moves the obb to its own folder
(sdcsrd1/link2sd /bind/obb) Which interfer with your updates
