[Q] Unknow ROM directory for kitchen - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys! I own a Doogee Valencia DG800, a chinafone with a stock rom. For many reasons I've decided to customize my ROM, and teak some little bugs from the original ROM. So, I've dowloaded the original ROM .zip file installed in my device, and placed in the directory of android kichen called "original_update". The problem comes when I try to setup the working folder for the rom, I recive the following message "Error: No Rom's found under original_update folder!", and this doesn't allow me to cook the rom. But I've noticed, that the rom that I've downloaded has not the classical ROM directory with build.prop folder, system forlder, etc... To makes things more understandable, I've attached a screen with the directory of my ROM.
So what can I do to make recognize my rom into Android Kitchen?
Thanks in advance.

strange file on \windows

hi all
in my \windows directory there's a file with name "dangaard-certificates.xml"
what is it? maybe something that could prevent rom upgrade?
and i have a lot of strange file inside like 034e7cf6-8a3*.dmf. are they temporary files that can be safely deleted or system files?
thanks
It's a security certificate. Come with the South African TyTN ROM
does it come with the radio rom ? because i have only upgraded the radio rom, the os rom is the original italian one
thanks
It comes with all htc roms, its run from preconfig.txt, if you look at it there's an "XML:" entry which install the certificate after hard reset. This is normal, don't be paranoid

[Q] How To get Stock Apps ??

i am using samsung galaxy ace with a custom rom. i want to have some of the stock apps mainly stock camera, stock task manager, and stock messages. is there a way i can get it and put it in my custom rom ???
my method-
i am not sure whether this will work or not but i think that if i get the apk file then i can put it in root/system/apps and set permissions to rw-r-r. this should work according to me.
but how do i get the apk file?
for that also i think i could extract it from the installation files for stock rom...
but the installations i have come across are either .md5 or .tar files for stock rom. hence i am unable to help to extract it and get the apk file. also i am unable to find a direct zip installation setup via cwm for stock rom. if i get that then its easy to extract the apks.
please help. i am not sure if my method is right. if it is then help me with it, if not then please tell me the other method
I think it´s not that easy, becaus the stock apps are using another framework, so they will not work if you just put them in the root/system/app folder. You have to install the framework which is used by the stock Samsung rom. If I´m wrong please correct me.

[Q] Android Kitchen - by dsixda, HTC Amaze 4G

I want to use the android kitchen to turn our recently leaked ICS update into a rom. On Dsixda's thread, he states that we need to create a file in the kitchen's /tools/edify_defs folder with the properties of our phone, in the templates file, it is kind of unclear for me how to do this.
Can anyone help me create a file for the HTC Amaze 4G? Thanks

Sorry if I am reviving a not quite old thread, but it came up when I was searching for the kitchen to download on my new windows install..
If you want to create a rom you don't really need the kitchen, it can do certain things to a rom- deodex, zipalign, install superuser and busybox, etc.. but within a few days of the leak all of that is available. You can pm a developer as I did and get permission to use their files rather than recreate the wheel.
First, just run the zip file thru the kitchen, don't do anything special with it- we have a superuser zip file you can/should just unpack into the final setup.
Find the updater-script and the binaries(in the same folder), this is what tells it what to install and where, fix permissions, install the files needed for SU(look in the superuser zip files updater script for details) etc..
If you want a deodexed rom you can ask to borrow the system/app directory from a rom that already has deodexed theirs. Literally, this is the best way to do it.
What the kitchen IS better for is pulling apart the kernel, putting it back together, unpacking apks.. it has built in scripts which can be a real time saver than typing in backsmali this, smali that-- simply put a file in a folder, type a number, and magically it all happens for you.. but you won't need ANY of that until you get into the advanced stuff.
I don't know if you were still trying to figure it out or not, but at the very least this may give someone who happened across this thread SOME sort of answer-- I get sick of finding more unanswered posts or posts where people reply with "you should search".. I've searched so much I my fingers should be bleeding.

Do not install UOT Help me

Hi i'm create a ROM based on cyanogenmod7 for tattoo and i'm i modified the graphic on site uot dakra, after download the package integreated to my ROM,and install to my device, only ok, after seeing the graphics I decided to change some things in here bootanimation, download the package again and back into regular ROM adding the Data folder (the folder that was not there before) containing bootanimation happens here and the odd fact, after the installation of the ROM,which is successful, the device restarts the bootanimation not start, I thought that went into conflict with those contained in the Media folder (with the first ever discharged package from uot dakra) , so I tried deleting the bootanimation in media folder, but nothing, I tried deleting the Data folder, but nothing, I tried to replace the bootanimation Date of moving in Media but nothing, so I tried to restore a functional ROM but also This is not incredibly went faster, but I thought a Brick cyanogenmod7 restoring from backup system is up, may depend on what the problem with my ROM? and how do I fix?

[Q] Deodexing an 7.0 ROM with vendor folder?

Hello everyone, I'm having a bit of a problem here.
I have a ROM, a stock ROM that has a vendor folder with /app, /priv-app and /framework along with some other folders in it.
I'm trying to deodex that very ROM. It's a 7.0 ROM.
I've tried different tools, different ways... Copying the app, priv-app and framework to same folders in root of /system, deodexing, flashing... doesn't work.
Tried to copy it, deodex it and then copy the very same files back to vendor, then flashing... kindda works, but brakes like half the the OS.
So what I'm wondering is, is there any tool that deodexes the vendor folder too?
This is a ROM for a phone that is not very popular, that has no sources available to make a custom Lineage or something so my best way would be to debloat it, deodex it, have magisk and xposed on it and have it run smooth. I've got magisk but need deodex to make it xposed capable.
Please, any ideas on how to deodex this kind of ROM?
Thanks in advance!
Can anybody give any advice with what I should try and how?
Really, no one? Is it impossible or what? Just give me some guidelines...
