[Q] Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 Bricked!!! (Help please) - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello to all,I am in a serious trouble with my samsung galaxy player 5.0 International China version . I rooted this with super one click. And it was successful and there was no problem. But as soon as I overwrote a file in lib folder of system,it got stuck.I tapped the power key and the screens light was gone.I again tapped but there was no response. So I held the power key for a while and the device restarted. But it got stuck on samsung logo and began to restart again and again. So I took it to download mode and tried to nand erase with odin,I thought it could format the device and my device would be fixed. But it took some time and I closed odin. Then I held the power key and it restarted with a black screen containing a picture of malfunctioning connection between a phone and computer at its middle. Then I again tried to t-flash it and again closed it without completion because my notebook had no charge. After that I flashed my device with the YP-G70-Kernel-r14 and it restarted with download mode. But if I hold the power key for a while it restart and again go to the brick showing screen(I heard that this brick is called soft brick).I downloaded two stock rom STOCK_G70XXKPH_G70XXKPH_XEF and G70XXKPL_G70XXKPL_XEF.I tried to flash them in my device with odin and they succeeded. But none of them could fix my problem. They remain in download mode and if I hold the power key the device again go to the soft bricked screen. My device isn't force shutting down.If I hold the power key the screen goes and again lights up with the bricked screen. Now,my device has become very hot and after 8-9 hours it has automatically turned off.But if I connect it to the charger it again lighten up with bricked screen.
Now,I am wanting to setup a clean and clear version of android 2.2/2.3.6 in my device. Is it possible? Will this fix my problem? If it does then please explain me the steps.Or if there is any other way to fix then please help me.
N.B. I am junior about andorid root, rom etc.It is the first device I rooted successfully.
Sorry for my bad and wrong English.
Please, help.I am in a bad danger.

I don't have a samsung device myself but if you can get in download mode and you can from what you described. What happened is that you deleted a driver (from the lib folder) that was necessary for boot (something important). To get to stock go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192488 download the right Firmware for your device. And the right pit file (pit file is the partition layout of the device). Flash using the pit file you got. You will fix that. Good luck.

Stock rom and pit file downloaded

So,I am in the download mode.I downloaded the firmware (XXXKPL) and the intl pit file. Now what options would be checked in odin and where will I put the firmware file(PDA or Bootloader)? The device has no charge. If I connect to the charger,it wakes up and becomes very hot than normal. And I can't turn it off.Its battery is non-removable.Thank you for your valuable help.

help please!! i777 won't start and I run out of ideas

I have a rooted i777 with SHOstock rom, I haven't updated the rom for a few months so I'm not sure which version it is.
The phone was working yesterday and it suddenly got stuck so I tried to reboot it (had to take out the battery because the power button didn't respond) but now each time I try to turn it on it is stuck on a black screen with the logo "Samsung Galaxy SII" and won't progress.
I tried to boot to recovery but it shows a screen saying "CWM-based Recovery v6.0.2.7" but it doesn't go pass the screen to show the recovery menu (it just reboots after being stuck on this screen for about a minute).
I tried to boot to download mode and succeeded, but every time I connect the device to my pc, the pc doesn't recognize it
(I tried re-installing kies, but it didn't help and probably the problem is not with the pc drivers because if I connect my wife's unrooted i777 to the pc it does recognize it).
so now I don't have clue what else to try.
any advice will be appreciated.
Make sure you have Odin v1.85 on your Windows PC. Look in the Windows Add/Remove programs dialog (or Uninstall a Program dialog) to see if you have SAMSUNG USB driver for mobile phones.
Open Odin on the desktop. Next put the phone into download mode by holding down vol + and vol - while plugging in the USB cable.
If Odin recognizes your phone, flash back to stock. I would recommend UCMD8 stock firmware, which you can get from the Download Repository.
don't know what happened to it but now it doesn't even turn on.
it's stopped turning on before I had a chance to try what you suggested.
now even if I connect it to the charger it doesn't show the charging status.
is there any other "force something" I can try?

Remove the battery and leave it out. Connect the USB cable to your PC. While holding down the vol- button (also try it with both vol- and vol+) but not the power button, plug the USB cable into the phone. The computer will provide the power. If this works, your phone will go into download mode. If not... you have very likely had some kind of hardware failure.
unfortunately it didn't work.
can't get it to download mode.
I'll try to leave the battery out for a longer time and try again.
should I try ordering a JTAG usb and see if it puts it in download mode or
probably my only option is to send it to mobiletechvideos?
I had the same problem, Your battery got too low. Pull your battery and leave it out for a while 15 mins or so. Put the battery back in and connect charger. Let the battery charge for a while without trying to turn on phone. The phone will not turn on with a dead battery even if it is connected to charger.
I just solved a problem that I didn't find any help with, so I thought I would post it here in case somebody else needs help out of this situation, and this is a recent and related thread.
After I pulled the battery of my i777 to test in another phone, without remembering to power my phone off first, it would only hang at the Samsung boot logo (stock UCMD8 ROM, rooted, stock recovery). Normally the Samsung boot screen shows for only about five seconds. Pulling the battery wouldn't get it to boot right. Holding Power to force a reboot didn't solve it. After clearing the cache it would move to the AT&T Rethink Possible screen once, then reboot and then again get hung on the Samsung logo screen. Also my battery was heating up a lot as it was hung.
I could get into both download mode and recovery. I tried reflashing my ROM from the stock file in ODIN since that would save all of my data IF it worked. This still didn't get it to boot past the first logo. Finally doing a factory reset on stock recovery is what solved my problem. I had to re-add my account and reload apps from scratch, etc.

[Q] Unbricking LGOG E970 - help needed

Hi Guys, greetings from India!
I have a E970 which I unfortunately bricked ( in what seems to be a hard brick) during flashing an updated ROM. The phone screen now does not turn on at all, though when I connect it to my computer the power button led flickers on and off, and the PC responds as if a removable device is getting attached to it and being removed in quick succession.
In Device Manager I can see that the phone gets recognized as QHUSB_DLOAD.
When I tried to run the unbrick process via LGNPST, the phone name flashes along with the COM port name in the software, then disappears, and then comes back again. Moreover, the process errors out at 85% but pressing the power button does nothing.
Since the screen does not turn on, I am not sure whether my phone goes into a download mode or not.
So - is the phone recoverable at all or is it all over? Please help.
Thank you.

[Q] Bricked phone - Boot loop - Recovery & Download mode not working [HELP]

Hello guys,
I've got a big problem with my I9300 and therefore I would like to ask here for any help. (If I'm in the wrong section, please move the thread to a correct one)
I had installed the Resurrection Remix ROM, v5.2.6. from 30.12.2014 and Googy-Max 2 recovery (CWM based) on my phone. I was using it for days and all worked fine.
One day I turned the phone off and I wanted to restart it. But it never restarted again; it ends up in a boot loop. It shows me the white Samsung Boot-Logo for some seconds, then a total black screen and the same thing repeats in a loop.
So I wanted to get into the recovery for wiping etc. but I couldn’t access the recovery. Nothing happens by pressing the relevant buttons. The device is still hanging in the boot loop. So I wanted to flash via Odin, but this isn't possible. I also can't go into the download mode. After pressing the relevant buttons, the green warning screen appears, which asks me if I really want to go to the download mode. But when I press volume up for "continue" or even if I don't press anything, the phone turns off and the boot loop with the white Samsung Logo starts again.
Therefore I ordered a USB JIG for forcing the device to go into download mode. When I plug the USB JIG in, the device actually goes into download mode but this status holds on only for a few seconds. After accessing download mode through the JIG, after a few seconds the phone turns off, restarts, (and because the JIG is still plugged in) the download mode appears again and it ends in a loop.
At first I thought maybe the power button is sticking and therefore the device turns on and off autonomous. But definitively I can negate it, because I opened the phone and removed the power button and nothing changed. Also by pressing the power button on the mainboard I can clearly hear the "click".
So I started a new attempt. Although the time, in which the device stays in download mode before turning off, is very short (only a few seconds), I tried flashing an other recovery, namely TWRP v2.8.3.0. So I prepared ODIN, plugged the JIG into the device, by appearing the download mode I switched cables and an other person clicked start at ODIN and it worked. So now TWRP is installed. Now I also can't get into recovery but after flashing TWRP there exist two little differences. First, after pressing the relevant buttons, TWRP appears for less than 1 second until the phone turns off. Secondly, when I plug the device in for charging, the Samsung charging logo appears for some seconds, then for less than 1 second appears a charging logo from Lollipop and the device ends up in a loop by displaying alternately the two different charging logos. Before flashing TWRP, the device booted in a boot loop (as I wrote above) by plugging it in for charging.
So the main question: how can I get my device work again
I tried telling you all details so that you have a better view of the problem.
Maybe I should flash a fully (stock) rom, but as I told you the download mode appears only for a few seconds. Flashing a recovery was possible, because the recovery file is very small - 7 MB. A full rom is much bigger and I think by flashing a complete rom, the device would turn off while Odin is flashing, therefore I ask first here for any assistance.
Thank you very much in advance!

Check and make sure that your volume buttons and home button are not stuck also. If they are not, I would suggest a visit to a repair shop as your EMMC chip might be weak already.

Your power button is failing, stuck in 'pressed' position. Try pressing repeatedly power button for several seconds, then release it completely. It shall bring it back to life. Visit your local service, or prepare tin, heat gun and soldering pistol. One button cost $0.2, they are selling them on eBay in sets of three (and 10, and 100....).
Happened to me some time ago, and video on youtube helped me to dismantle my phone, pull broken button out of it, and change it for new.
My phone was cycling like yours.

As said your emmc chip maybe failing.

Thank you very much for helping! :good:
So the question is, whether it's the power button's or emmc's fault...
I did a little searching and found this video. I've got exactly the same problem like the guy. At 1:06 following the boot loop, at 1:34 following the problem with downlod mode.
Although he thinks it's caused to the sudden death problem, but at least in my case I think it's wrong because months ago I did the eMMC Brickbug Check.
Also I noticed a probably important detail. When I put the battery in the phone, it automatically turns on without pressing the power button like in 1:04-1:09 in the video. Which normal working phone turns itself on by simply putting in the battery...?
So it must get a command for turning on - (possibly through a defect power button?)
@Virnik0, do you remember, if you could hear the micro-switch clicking on your phone before replacing the button on the mainboard?

Your power button is faulty, replace it before you try fixing anything else.
Thank you very, very much for helping! :good: :good: :good:
Truly the power button was fault although you could hear clearly the "click".
I unsoldered and removed the power module and (by startig with JIG and rebooting via ADB) the phone works as it should. :victory:
Now I'm trying to solder a new power button......it's a bit tricky
Again, thank you very much guys!
I had the same problem, pressed the button many times, and it helped. Thank you for your suggestions

Hi , your situation is complicated because the firmware writing to your emmc is stoped in the middle because your power failure .
In order to try to bring your device back in life if your download mode is okey you can use USB JIG which you can find on Ebay or some other shop in order to put your device into Download mode .
Here is example how is look like .

If that dosn't work let your battery dry to 0% and then put the usb cable and just hold 3 keys for download mode until Download message is show up on your screen.
Good luck...
