[Q] No IMEI number!!! HELP!!! - Galaxy Ace S5830i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
A week ago my sister gave me her Samsung Galaxy ace s5830i, she said that she could not call or text anyone and could not receive anything. I looked around on her phone and on the Internet to find the root of the problem. I found that the phone had no IMEI number. I typed *#06# in the keypad of the phone and a box appeared, it had the words "IMEI" but there was no number under it. When I go to settings, about phone and then status, this is what it says:
Network: T-mobile UK
Signal strength: -83 dBm 14 asu
Mobile Network type: UMTS
Service state: Out of service
Roaming: Not roaming
IMEI: Unknown
IMEI SV: 01
I just wanna tell you guys that I hardly know anything about android, so could you please explain everything simply. Thanks

Your thread will be moved to appropriate section.

CM7.1 Carrier Name not displayed...

T959 with the nightly 44 installed and rather than display my carrier name - CincinnatiBell, my phone shows a 6 digit number. Under Wireless & Networks, Mobile Networks, Network Operators it displays AT&T and TMobile, and only a number (310420) for my carrier. I was out of my service area this past weekend, and CinBell phones always display 'CinBellUSA' when roaming - mine showed 'T-Mobile'.
Any ideas?
John
I'm bumping an old thread, this is beyond annoying. My phone does the same thing, except it never shows anything but the carrier number 310420. What is going on and how do I fix it?
Another bump. I'm on CM7.1 build 102

Sim card not registered?

Hi guy's, have a UK SGS2. It's rooted and running Criskelo ICS rom. I've recently been in Brazil for 6 months, my phone worked fine over there. I've come back to the UK and got a standard Vodafone PAYG sim card. When I try and use it the phone says "not registered on network"
The sim card itself is fine as it works in my old mans SGS2.
I have wiped the phone and installed the standard software and it's still the same.
Anyone got any ideas what could be up?
The phone could be network locked (sim lock)

That's what the guy on Vodafone web chat suggested.
How and why would it get network blocked?
The phone was originally on the 3 network. I bought it 2nd hand about 1.5 years ago and it's been fine on T-mobile ever since.
If it is sim locked, is there a way to unlock it?
You can unlock with:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sImV1LmNoYWluZmlyZS5zZ3Myc2ltdW5sb2NrY29kZSJd
It's free on google play.
I don't think it's sim locked, I can put any chip in it. It doesn't ask me for an unlock code.
I have run the sim unlock tool. The code it came up with is 00000000
When you go into the network settings, it shows all the service providers. every provider I click on says "can't register on the network"
I'm wondering if i've had some sort of network update in Brazil that's screwed it up?

I'm sure its something to do with being abroad as i've read about someone that had the same issue when they went from China to Denmark.
If I go to settings - phone it says...
Network - Unknown
Signal Strength - 103 dBm 5 asu
Mobile Network Type - HSDPA:9
Service State - Out of Service
Roaming - Not Roaming
Mobile Network State - Disconnected
My Phone Number - Unknown
IMEI - the correct number, I checked
The fault isn't with the sim card itself, I can use it in other phones and I can save a contact to it in this phone.
I'm wondering if some of those network settings I had from the Brazilian phone company's have messed something up.

Find your networks apn settings, save them in setting-mobile networks and reboot phone. And/or flash a new radio, theres several threads with archives/advice about which to use.

and check your IMEI
and provide more info how did it happen'? while flashing a new rom?
Here's a thought, what have you tried so far?

Sounds carrier side (& in the absence of any great amount of detail from you). Either coverage where you're using the phone isn't up to scratch...Or...Phone is IMEI blocked or some kind of block on the phone by the carrier. In the first instance, call them & ask if there's any issue from their end.
Edit - Speaking of the IMEI, check the IMEI in settings/about phone/status Vs the box/documentation that came with the phone. If you don't have it, if the IMEI in phone settings begins with 0049...., that's your problem. Whatever you do, do not post your actual IMEI here if it's OK, just confirm whether it begins with 0049...or not.

Hello there. I'm having this problem. No matter what ROM I flash, I get either mobile network not available or not registered on network. And I check what you said. The IMEI is different from as written on the phone and when I check it in about phone. And it starts with 0049. Can you tell me what's the actual problem here? and do you know how to fix it? Plz reply asap. Even flashing back the stock rom gives me the same problem.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 pro (Kenzo) - No Service on both sims after drop

Hello all,
I have Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 pro and after a drop, I cannot get any cell signal to the phone, it states "No Service" on both sims.
Wifi and everything else is working without any problem. The phone can identify whether sim phone is inserted or not, it just seems that its impossible to enable radio. I tried to reboot phone, turn-on off airplane mode, reset to factory default but no change.
I opened the back lid and all connections are in place, no loose parts are visible. Removed the antenna part, re-seated it and still its not working.
Below you can see all details on the symptoms.
- Settings / About the phone / Status / SIM Status:
Netowrk: Unknown
Signal Strength :0
Cellular network type: Unknown
Service State: Radio off
Roaming :not roaming
Cellular Network state: Disconnected
- Settings / About the phone / Status /Status -> IMEI Information shows MEID, IMEI for both slots, but IMEI SV is 00 regardless the presence of sim card in the slots.
Settings / About the phone and pulse several times on internal memory I go to the Testing menu and then I can see:
- Phone information 1
- IMEI is populated ok
- Signal strength 0dBm, 99asu
- Location: LAC = unknown, CID=unknown
- DcRtInfo : mTime=9223372036854775807
mDCPowerState=2147483647
- Current network: off
- GSM service: Radio Off
- GPRS service: disconnected
- Network type: unknown
- There turn on radio, select the type of network do not work whatever I choose.
Do you know how I can repair this situation? Is there any other lower level tool that I can use to force enable the radio or to further debug the issue?
thank you

Hi, have you solved the issue? I have same issue, need solution!
Unfortunately not, I shipped the phone back to the store I bought it and they sent it to factory where they confirmed an issue with the motherboard that was caused by the drop. They asked for $125 to repair it - I dont think its worth it since you can find this new for as low as almost $150

Oh...
Yeah you're right. Many people are getting the same problem so i don't think everyone has dropped their phone and have motherboard problem. It's just Xiaomi wants to fix the phone by easy way and earn something.

Emergency calls only, not registered to network help

So I've been unlocked on Sprint galaxy s8 plus Sm-G955U and switched to MetroPCS. I flashed this root firmware from this forum for root. https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...root-g955u-g955u1-snapdragon-sampwnd-t3658911 . Did the mps code. My service was working had to reset my network many times but I had service. Now for about three days I get emergency calls only in top left corner . I try to make a call and it says not registered to network. I have signal bars . My number reads. My sim is working in different phone. I checked my imei number it's original. I tried air plane mode , LTE to 3g/2g, checked a website to to see I was blacklisted it was clean. I switched firmwares. My voicemail pops up when I insert my card but I can't call it. Tried MetroPCS US LTE and MetroPCS apn can't connect to t mobile network operators. I'm lost. Is there a repair network for this device? Does anyone know how to get my MetroPCS service working again or why it's saying emergency calls only and I can't register to a network? Please help. I checked blacklist because I bought this phone someone and thought maybe that was the problem. https://imei24.com/blacklist_check/
https://m.sim-unlock.net/imei_check/blacklist/
Can anyone help me please?
If reflashing the firmware didn't help, you may need to search for someone to use a box to repair your network. A quick Google search showed me that there are options available. Just search "repair network SM-G955U"
Good luck!
