[Q] Neo V Cam can't connect to camera - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Hi, a pleasant day to everyone.
I have my neo v under CarbonRom for several months now. the rom was awesome.
unfortunately a month ago i dropped my phone for like 2 feet. ever since the drop my camera started malfunctioning.
first i lost my front camera. the icon for which i can turn the cam from rear to front was gone. 2nd i lost flashlight capability.
then eventually i lost the whole camera function. I tried reflashing the rom, went from 4.4.4 to ginger based rom, and even to stock ICS firmware and didn't get any luck.
From the looks of my device, i didn't see any hard scratch from the drop, nor a crack/physical damage.
i tried disassembling my device and removed the camera module, reattached and reassemble it back. just to see if there are loose connections.
still no luck...
is there anyone who can advice me of any possible fix for this?
i would really appreciate any help.
other than that the device is fine...
im just wondering if the issue is software/kernel or hardware issue caused by the drop.

[Q] Do it yourself Camera fix? - remove back of Prime

I have noted that several folks have the same problem that I have... rear camera is no longer functioning, green "static" screen, front facing camera works
Have read that folks think it is a loose connection and it is not a software issue. I have all current firmware updates and have done factory reset. Now I have a RMA to return it for repair but I wonder if anyone has removed the back and has tried reseating the camera connection? I read a great thread about removing the back (at your own risk) .
Anyone try fixing the camera by removing the back and messing with the connection? thanks for your thoughts

I returned mine. I had the problem crop up once earlier in the month. A reboot fixed it. But last week, it went completely green with interference like static. A reboot failed to recover as did a factory reset.
Asus recommended I return for repair. So, I'm guessing it is a loose connection. It makes sense. Better to have Asus do the repair/fix than me.
I am trying to avoid the return.. Seems like more folks are reporting rear camera issues..
I will keep hoping it is firmware and hope for an OTA solution or a take it apart/do it yourself solution. I am holding off for a little while before I return. thanks

Front Camera doesn't work

Good Day everyone!!
I have a HTC EVO 3D GSM upgraded it to ICS and front camera started not to work. Everytime I try to turn front camera on or to use mirror application it is thinking that the 2nd camera is the rear 2nd camera and its flipped upside down.
It will fix it if I restart the phone several times (Probably 2 to 5 times of restart then when I try to use it several times it goes back to the same problem, I'm thinking that this is not a hardware problem but a software problem because it can be fixed by restarting the phone several times but its getting annoying already to have to do that just for me to use the front camera.
I have tries
1. Resetting Phone to Factory Settings
2. Resetting Phone to Factory Settings and included SD Card
and its the same thing.
TIA!
Hardware problem. I took my phone to sprint for this the other day and there's nothing they can do.

Yup. Pretty much what the poster above me said. My fiance's phone is afflicted with the same issue. Oddly enough, when she got her phone, it worked with out an issue. Then, one day out of the blue BAM! the ffc no longer worked right. She doesn't use it much so it's not really an issue for her. YMMV,

[Q] i9100 Wifi completely dead. SOLVED

I've read a few posts here with similar problems but the solutions (if any) haven't worked for me.
My wifi started to switch off intermittently. The "switch" icon in Settings would move across to the "ON" position but would then move right back to "OFF". Then after several hours the wifi would magically work again. Now it has stopped working altogether. I tried going back to GB including wiping data and cache then went forward to JB 4.1.2. No luck. I even tried GS2ROMNuke in between and Siyah kernel. I'm now back where it all started with WanamLite Clean & Fast & Pure Stock Themed 4.1.2
I opened the phone and checked for internal battery leakage but there was only a tiny amount and that was still on the battery itself, none on the circuit board.
At this stage I have just about given up. Has anyone managed to recover from this situation?
Of course it happened just 3 months out of warranty

Hey bro, sorry to hear about your problem. Have you tried testing the Wi-fi after installing a new ROM without updating or changing the stock kernel?

I think I have... not 100% sure though. Might go back to stock and try again though. Such a PITA... I was going to upgrade to a Note 3 and pass this S2 on to a family member. :crying:
Success!
I'm sorry to resurrect a long dead thread.
I just wanted to let you know I finally fixed my wifi issue. The problem was (as in many cases) the battery near the wifi chip, leaking. Although I had previously opened the phone and cleaned the PCB with isopropyl alcohol, I hadn't noticed that the track between one of the resistors and the wifi chip, had been eroded. I scratched some of the covering off the track and tried to measure continuity to one side of the resistor but got an open circuit. After clumsily soldering a piece of fine wire from the resistor to the scratched piece of track, wifi was restored.
I really can't believe it. I had previously inspected the board close up and thought that no erosion had taken place. But now after taking some time (and some beer) I found the fault.
Some feedback for Samsung... you *****es! How can you fit such a weakness to, what was, your flagship phone? This issue has hit so many users. I have read many many posts here and on other forums complaining about wifi problems with the SGS 2. Unfortunately for me this fault occurred when I was a few weeks out of my 2 year warranty
This was not an easy soldering job. I am fairly good at fine soldering but attaching a wire to a SMD resistor so small was really difficult. It may come off in the future but at least I now what and where the fault is now.
Once again, sorry to resurrect the old thread.
FYI the resistor that was affected was the one that sits by itself at right angles to the other 4. Unfortunately it is nearest the battery.

[Q] Unable to Start Camera

I've been having a problem with my phone. I recently had the motherboard and screen replaced by HTC. I'm now running MeanBean, and the camera will not start. It started working after I did a factory reset, but it stopped working again now. Is this a hardware issue?
I tried updating to the 4.3 camera apk, but I get the message, "Unable to connect to Camera" when using that application. Is it possible the cable to the camera is loose?
Update again. I took the phone apart and reconnected the ribbon cables for the camera. Maybe they weren't seated correctly. My Void sticker fell off after opening the cover after getting my phone back from repairs. So I had nothing to lose by taking the phone apart... Plus, I don't feel like waiting another month for them to fix it anyway. So I'm glad this worked (for now). I'll try and update in a few weeks if it is or isn't working still.
Well that didn't last long. Once again, can't connect to the camera.
My only suggestion would be to contact HTC. They usually have a warranty period on their work
I was afraid of that, haha. They took so long the first time. I had an EVO 3D I bought for a temp phone, but the service was so terrible on that, I would rather not go back to it for another month.

[Q] Unable to Start Camera

I hate to post this twice, but I wasn't getting any hits in the Q&A section and thought there might be more people in this section.
Anyway, I recently had my phone repaired by HTC. They replaced the screen and motherboard. For the first week, it worked fine. Then all of a sudden the camera stopped working. I did a factory reset (running MeanBean) and it worked again. A day later it stopped again. I tried a different ROM, and now I have a stock ROM on there. Still no luck. I took the phone apart (warranrty "void" sticker fell off when I opened the MEID cover...) and unplugged the camera ribbon cable and plugged it back in, still no good. Both the front and rear cameras do not work.
Think buying a new camera would help? Or Motherboard problem?
This thread is now closed, as your first thread is in the correct location.
Thank you
