Was it compressed in any way? Does it look like a thumbprint? Honestly, if you have no warranty I think you're screwed. Front assemblies are @$90 on eBay:

This is why people should take the time to learn what it is, then you would already know that it does and you can.
yes, it will void the warranty.
on the other hand...

[Q] Is this normal (just curious)

I was reading around the S3 forum.. notice some guy making a big noise about the screen flaw...
Here is the problem... i mistakenly drop my S3 on the back(lucky not front facing), nothing happen button everything ok.. but suddenly I notice the screen has a black border around it.. before it drop there was no border around it. So i'm really curious is this normal or there is a setting to remove it. If u can notice the picture i took of my phone.. any S3 owner out there can clarify for me this is normal or not?
Mine has the same black border. Didnt notice it before your post though
Thats odd, mine doesnt. Could be faulty. Email Samsung and add the pic. Dont tell them you dropped it tho.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA
Yeah it's supposed to have a 2mm black border but weirdly most people never notice it until it gets pointed out.
I think it's normal.
I have them too.
It's probably hardware related so don't expect a fix.
I understand there suppose to be a black border but look at my picture it seems to be larger than usual.. who should i email to in smasung.. i'm from Malaysia
Does factory reset solve the problem?

Yes there was!
Picture's too small so can't really see but it looks normal, and like I said most people don't notice the border until it's pointed out and then when you notice it looks huge.
it not suppose to be so thick? i believe and its only on the lock screen...
Try to upload a better picture.
There IS a black border its normal...
No, that's not normal. The border isn't supposed to be that large. The border on mine is barely noticeably against the white of the border.

That doesn't capture anything outside of the usable screen area. I'll try to borrow a camera later.

Here is a picture of the phone that shows the border. Its taken from the forum, not my picture. But mine looks the same.
Maybe this is a clearer picture? This is only at the lock screen... i remember b4 the incident it not suppose to be like this... I've also done a screen shot of it.. u notice it has a BIG black border around it... i'm seriously thinking does factory reset solve this problem.. cause its only at the lock screen

Haven't seen the picture yet but still gonna confidently say it's just a dead/stuck pixel.

Well I have received a Nexus with dirt underneath before and had a refund. I never had dirt going under the screen if the screen was clean in the first place for any Galaxy phones. My SIII back cover also doesn't snap in smoothly on all edges, I think its simply poor design.
Please clean the screen before taking photos. It's really smeared.
Go to a dark room (I mean really dark) and check if that 'speck' seems to light or not. If yes, then it's a bright pixel (one that lights but should not)
No matter the picture, I find the TPU case (with plugs for both connectors) does a nice job of keeping dust out of the phone. It even goes over the bevel in the front so if there is a gap there, the damage should be minimised (dust wise)

nothing light, and i guess if its so dustproof i shall return it and demand new one

[Q] Screen replacement

Hi everybody, I need some advice about replacing the screen of the i9100.
I have already done all the disassembly, and I have to put everything together. I have seen in a tutorial that it is suggested to replace the double sided tape along the edges of the screen, and especially in the part of the screen between the actual screen and the softkeys, in order to prevent the light from bleeding.
Anyone can confirm or clarify this?
Thx in advance
Ive not seen a guide that tells you to put it on the screen. I would only out it around the edge and across the top of the hardware keys near the screen not on the hardware keys themselves

No, I wans't about to tape the capacitive soft keys yet here there is a pic for further explanation. The red part is the old tape, and the green one iis the tape I wans't sure of. In the tutoria it suggests to replace only the green one to avoid light blleding into the screen, and it says one should use the tape under the new screen (which is the orange part).
Do I need to replace the red parts around the edges or the orange and the green would be enough?
Thx in advance

Yep, that's the guide I was talking about. He just puts the screen on, but says that you should put the green adhesive to avoid light bleed, do you suggest doing so or not?

L in LG logo fell off

The L in the front bottom LG logo fell off. Has anyone had this happen to their V10? Not a major issue but a disappointment nonethless
No but I'll be sure to wipe gently on the bottom part of the phone next time after reading this.
