Best/Favorite Root Method for Verizon 4.42? - G2 General

What do people think? Especially with 4.4.2 seemingly being the norm now. Easiest to install? Easiest to unroot? Least buggy? Compatibility? Any others than the above you prefer?

Hi, for me the best are towelroot and stump root because don't need pc but only an apk. The best was towelroot but it only work for build < jun 3 2014. Stump root now work perfect but it isn't simple to unroot, you need to reflash stock rom, because it makes low level changes, without flash stock you can only remove su binary.

[Q] Root before or after ICS OTA

Just got a razr max running 6.12.181.XT912.Verizon.en.US.
I really want to get ICS and wanting to know if I should wait for OTA then root or root. Will rooting be harder with ICS.
If I do root should I keep stock rom or get ICS leak or custom rom. There are a few things I like about smart actions would like to be able to keep if possible.
Thanks ahead of time
I would root now and try to keep root through the OTA, I don't know of any root method of ICS after the .85 build, and most of them you can't fast boot back to Gingerbread, so it's probably best to stay stock.
If you root, I would stay on the Stock ROM as ICS as been announced to be out by the end of quarter 2.
But it's all your choice.
Thanks for input. I know its my choice just want to make the right choice .
What is the best root method on razr? I have seen a lot about motofail is it the best?
Yes, Motofail is the most hassle free and easy root method. Just plug in with USB debugging enabled and run it! It installs Superuser and roots .173 through .181 easily.
My last question. Can it be removed if for some reason I have to take device back?
Thanks again for everything and the super fast responses!!!
Yes, root can be removed if you root with Motofail. Just to have everything in one place, I would recommend this utility http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...1-6-now-contains-6-12-181-fastboot-files.html it has root with motofail, fastbooting to .181, unrooting, overclock installs... I'll let you look at the rest.
Its rooted and I installed ota root keeper. Since i am not flashing anything right now i didn't do safestrap and fastboot. That should be enough to let me get OTA without any issues hopefully and be rooted.
Thanks again
Just a warning, when I was on the .79 leak I lost root when i tried Voodoo OTA Root Keeper. If you do when we get the official OTA it shouldn't be a big deal, because root methods are usually the first things found if losing root was common.

CF Auto Root on MJ4

I've looked thoroughly and haven't really found anyone on MJ4 who rooted besides the Kingo method (too sketch for me). Has anyone tried the CF Auto root/qbking77's root method? Is there anything extra I have to do? I know it trips Knox. And are there any limitations of having Knox flipped? Like am I able to use any ROM or recovery?

I used QBking77's method and it worked great. Afterwards, download SuperSU from the Play Store to control your rooted programs and then flash TWRP or whatever recovery method you want. I used Goo Manager for that. Then you are all set to go. You can stay in stock rooted if you want or flash one of several ROMs currently available. Most developers and rooters are not concerned with the security features of Knox and I am not either. In fact most ROMs just omit it. You will be able to make your Nandroids and recover your previous ROMs just like on your previous phones. I made a Nandroid immediately after rooting just in case.
You may want to start with Xposed Installer (Framework) and Wanam Xposed while stock rooted to make some changes to your system just to get used to it and then just dive into some ROMs. Don't forget to make Nandroids before testing any ROMs. Most ROMs can be found here:

Of course. I was referring to the video. Thanks for the clarification.

Quickest way to Root SGP561 running 5.0.2?

Latest, fastest root on the z3V (phone) running unrooted 5.0.2 is to use Kingroot, flash xz dual recovery, and download and install a fresh prerooted 5.0.2 ROM that would then get rid of all traces of Kingroot. The ROM I used was compiled by GigaSPX and contained a flashlight mod and nut's dual recovery.
Prior to that method, you had to flash the stock 5.0.2 back to 4.4.4 in order to gain root. Then you could flash Gigaspx's ROM to have all of it.
Problem for me was (is) I have crap for an Internet connection, and would like to know the fastest easiest way to date how to gain root on my z2 Verizon tablet. The less files I need to download the better.
Thank you.
This is a verizon device.....i dont think that a quick way exists......

Any way to bypass the read-write switch with root or xposed?

This is the bane of the Z3v in my opinion. The only way I have been able to get write access to the root partition is to run a root exploiter like KingRoot. It would be nice to just install a custom rom, but I'm not sure if I can use Paranoid Android since it is made for the Z3, not Z3v.
I'm rooted with Kingroot atm (because I couldn't figure out how to remove it. SuperSU-me didn't work.) and on 5.1.1.

I am in the exact same boat. At least I am able to debloat the software a bit. KingRoot is not nice though, and Purify is the worst. Took me a few tries to get that off my system.
As far as i remember you just have to flash the pre-rooted lollipop in the section and it will remove kingroot and let u use supersu.

What is the absolute easiest way to root my phone?

I've just recently upgraded to 6.0.1, now I'm looking to reroot my phone again. What's the absolute easiest way to root a phone? I just want it so I can install SuperSU and the Xposed Framework.

Easiest way are apps like kingroot, however they don't work on all devices. The surefire way and safest way is to unlock b/l, flash TWRP (or other custom recovery), flash SuperSU zip with TWRP.
What device is it?
