Hello i use the Ubuntu Touch in connection with my Nexus 5.
I want to use the pictures from the front and rear facing camera but where do i find them?
On my Host-PC I use OpenCV with the command
Videocapture cap(X);
from a USB-camera. The device is in /dev/videoX but where do I find the front and rear facing camera in Ubuntu Touch from the Nexus 5?
Thanks
On the Nexus 4, the cameras can be found as /dev/videoX as well.

If you are talking about programming a QML app which uses the camera, have a look the the Camera type in the QtMultimedia package.
Furthermore, you're going to have to add the proper security policy to your apparmor file in order to be able to access the camera.

Hi all I have diceplayer with external plugins allowed for dts on my nexus7, but that same plugin does not work on my Galaxy Tab 10.1
Does anyone have an external plugin that allows dts playback on their Galaxy Tab 10.1 or point me in the direction of it?
Thanks!

How did you get Dice player to play DTS on Nexus 7? What plugin did you use and folder did you put it in?

I had the same plugin, its somewhere in the N7 thread. You place it on the root of sdcard and enable the option for custom plugins in Dice settings. It doesn't work for GTab, every time I tried to play a DTS video using Dice, it would just disappear on me... no FC just disappear.
Did you ever find a player that can play dts on the galaxy tab?

Got a 720p w/ DTS transffered to my GTab, I tested using VLC for Android Beta
Here is the link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.videolan.vlc.betav7neon&hl=en, but I am not able to install from here so I get it from their nightlies http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/armv7-android-neon/
It says for neon and specific hardware for HW accesleration, but it seems to run fine with occasional stutter... but I expect stutter from 720p videos since our processor does not really have mkv support.

Dang, after watching the video longer, its gets out of sync. The problem is that it does not have tegra2 support in the link I posted. They do have a tegra2 version, but it has not been updated since Oct and it doesn't run that great. If your able to, you might be able to build your own tegra2 from their source and get the latest updates to try.

hey guys!
Just picked up my Moto X about a week ago and rlly enjoying it!.. thought id stay under the 30 minute talk-time as long as i could to not void the return policy just in case i wanted to come back to apple and pick up a 5S.. decided im sticking with the Moto tho!
Anyway on the iphone i was able to play a video, then lock (sleep) the display and have the audio of that video still play while having the info and toggle button (play, rewind etc.) show up in the lock screen by tapping the wake button. I used this primarily for video streaming via the Safari browser using sites like youtube (the youtube app didnt allow this function).
Can i do something similar to this (play the audio of a video with the display put to sleep + have a toggle widget in the lock screen) . I found it to be super convenient for listening to interviews and talks while at the gym or even in the car while saving some battery.
sorry if the solution is obvious.. im still learning Android's functionality.. is there a native way of doing this? if not is there a browser/app/widget that can do this? do i need to get a custome build of the OS?
Thanks in advance, i know u guys are great on here

There's also a modded youtube apk somewhere under Development & hacking which allows exactly that, playback with screen off.
I think PVTStar also does that, I'm not wrong (it's an app to play youtube videos basically).

so i think the app you mention is called SuperTube which is pretty sleek.. it does play the audio with the screen off which is rlly nice and it has a pull down widget for pausing and playing!
another question is whether there is a web browser that can do this for videos that are outside the realm of YouTube?

Try PVStar, I think it does a broader video search (not just youtube). if I'm not mistaken. Check on play. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.co.asbit.pvstar
i was curious if there was a way to do this to our phones? Just like how the sony z5 premium runs 1080p regularly and 4k when it needs it. movies as of now only run to 1080p and youtube/photos/home movies would be the only real app to utilize QHD. it would be nice to use 1080p or even 720 if you wanted to lower battery. Just an idea.
you use adb shell.the command is "adb shell wm size 1920x1080"if that looks weird switch the 1920 and 1080.but upon reboot youll get a system ui crash
---------- Post added at 04:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:15 PM ----------
just be warned .you will be stuck in a infinite system ui loop so dont do this unless you have twrp or equvilent
so if i get stuck in an infinite loop ill just restore my rom? this will have my phone working at 1080p at all times?
New playground app for Android pie devices
You need a gcam port and AR core installed from Google play
Download link

Have fun
Please help,
This app lags too much, I get it it's 430 mb app running at a time but can something be done to fix this lag? The video recording also records lags, the camera and sticker keeps lagging in playground app.

My phone is a non rooted Moto X4
the earlier sticker pack with the star wars characters lagged on the x4 as well. Perhaps its a question of the CPU not being 100% up to the task?
The previous AR stickers app which was around 120mb didn't lag at all. This new playground app lags so much that it's unbearable.

Which is probably why it isn't natively supported until you side load it

Yeah that's true but if ur looking for more stickers then this one is better
It appears that, in theory, you can just install the base and packs as desired.
To my knowledge, the Moto X4 officially supports the ARCore.

I just purchased a new Android phone running Pie.
I want to have a way to record my screen e.g. to a MicroSD card, so that I can later copy the video file of that recording to my PC.
Does Android have a built-in mechanism for screen recording?
Thanks.

Need a third party app
([emoji813]9/[emoji725]/9[emoji813])
No need for a custom ROM.
No need for an app.
Just use:
adb shell screenrecord
