Please tell me I'm not crazy. - Sprint LG G3

But, since I have been on stock Android LG lollipop zv8, it seems like the g3 has lost all of it's casting capabilities!!!!! [emoji36] no longer can I cast YouTube to my TV, or video files from my media payer and mircast is all sorts of wonky, and even disconnects and refresh rate sucks. And I can't share any files through Wi-Fi direct, only in advanced Wi-Fi in settings, I can only connect to another device, WTF good is that? Anyone else have these issues??

Odd. I believe everything worked pretty well for me in the couple of weeks I used it before switching to barepop

I don't know if this will help you, but you can try ##UPDATE#and see if that fixes it.
It fixes a lot of issues, so maybe yours.

[Q] HBO Go Streaming Problem

Does anyone else have a problem with getting a quality picture for HBO Go. My Wi-fi is fine, and no matter how long I let it buffer it always looks like crap. It doesn't do it on my Nexus 7.
Just wondering if anyone is having the same experience and if they know how to fix it.
I tried reinstalling, clearing app data, and all of that. It almost seems to be a hardware problem, but I don't have any problems with any other streaming app...
Check out the screen shot below to see what I'm talking about.

Default video player "lagging" problem

Hello there.
I just bought the OPX and it's a great device (except for the camera, of course)
But I have this weird video player problem.
videos are lagging and stuttering everywhere! twitter, youtube, browser, anywhere! except if I used an external player like (mx player) it goes kinda smooth.
I tried to disable nuplayer (or enable it, I don't remember but I changed the default state ) and got to nowhere. Same thing.
I've came across some webpages of people having a similar problem, yet no one have offered a proper solution.
I'm on the latest OTA oxygen update, just bought my phone 3 days ago so I didn't even have time to mess around
really looking to fix this problem ASAP because it's annoying, VERY annoying.
May be reset will work out!
Do a factory reset, or replace the device to a new one!
I guess I would do a reset when I'm totally out of ideas.
any sugs?

Try Awesome Player in developer options
Blu-spark kernel really improve the experience with the OPX. But I still have this problem sometimes.
I noticed that it's not on all vids on the youtube app for ex. It should be related to the video format (of course, worse on 1080p) & codecs/encoding properties (VBR ou CBR) or the servers the video is on. My data speed transfer is not the issue on that.
Tried awesome player, nothing changed.

so what do you suggest beside changing the kernel?

[Test Requested]Chrome and Google Cast Test, Please Test for me?

Friends, if you own a V10, with Chrome and Google Cast, on both LP and Marshmallow, can PLEASE run this Test for me? I would really, really appreciate it!
1. Open Chome
2. Go to cnn.com or any site that has video streaming
3. Play the video in the browser until the Cast icon pops up
4. Cast to your TV
5. Once the video is running, pull down your notifications and click on the stream that's running from Google Cast to launch the full screen player controller window
6. Please report what happens? Does your video keep running and you are able to play with the video progress (Rewind, Forward with the slider) OR does it crash Chrome, loses the video controller on your phone, but the video keeps running on your TV?
Please report this on your phones as much as you can and please mention which ROM, Android version you are using.
Note: This has crashed for me since G3, G4 (LP), and the V10 (LP), wondering if I am the only one with this issue?
Thank you in advance for your testing!!! Would appreciate it DEEPLY if you could do this for me.
Ive used the google cast for sometime on my 6.0 (such loss of root, many sadness) and havent had any issues like that, all flawless except when i play any videos from chrome it makes my phone noticeably warm but otherwise okay. VS99022A Lg V10

Thank you so so much for your response and test, my friend. So just to be clear, I can cast fine as well. Yes, noticed the warmth, but works fine.
Now can you truly confirm that once your casting from your browser, and then you pull down the video details from notification drawer to control the progress of the video, it launches fine, doesn't crash, and you can move the video forward and backwards? ?
Thank you again! Sorry you lost root on MM. I'm on T-Mobile, we have it a little easier...

quick response due to email notifications! i just tried doing that and for me it completely exits the video if i try to go forwards at all and starts at the beginning if i go back... i think its something the bug team hasn't encountered yet and have to be told about it still. each phone model can act different even if they are almost similar, and just tested with my brothers S7 edge and it works fine, might be something with the V10 specific

Thanks for the quick response buddy. For me, since LG G3 on Verizon, to G4 on AT&T, to T-Mobile V10, when I launch the video through the notification drawer... It just crashes Chrome, the video keeps going, but nothing left on the phone to control the video ?... Wonder if it has to do with my Chromecast device? Since it's consistent on all these phone models from all these different carriers...
Thank you again for your test! Would love it if others can report too? Thank you all!

LGV30+ video playback problem

I'm looking for a solution for a video playback problem my LG-H930DS (SEA) has after the 8.0 Oreo update. When I start the phone everything is working well, but after a few minutes of normal usage the built-in videoplayer cannot play video recordings made by the phone itself. It says "Cannot play video - This file type is not supported" Then I have to restart the phone to get it working again. But it fails nearly every day. I wouldn't mind this failing because I can choose a different app to play the gallery videos, but the problem is that Snap-chat videos fail to play as well when this happens, until next restart. That's the bug I cannot have. Also when the phone gets into the state of not playing videos, the ringtones and alarm clock make no sound.
To start the problem I only have to open a few random web pages in chrome, open the gallery a few times, play some videos , and in a few minutes of this usage video playback crashes. MX player, VLC and youtube still work though.
I have done a lot of troubleshooting for this problem:
Full restore of the phone
Flashed different firmwares, H930DS20b, H930DS20d, and the european variant H93020d
Tried with no apps installed, other then preinstalled ones
Tried it in safe mode
But the problem always remains.
I always use the same google account. And after upgrading to 8.0 the problem does not seem to start until I restart the phone for the first time, after that it's constantly failing. Don't know if it starts when the memory gets close to full or not, but nothing else is failing on the phone.
I have now downgraded my phone to the Android Nougat 7.1.2 (H930DS10d) and this problem is not there, no matter how hard I try to replicate it.
I can only find one link on google where this problem is reported. (problem #6)
I have contacted LG Support, and they had never heard about this, and wanted me to send my phone in for repairs. But I'm not willing to pay for shipping from Europe to Asia, if this is just a software problem.
Is someone else getting this problem, or does know a fix or a workaround for it? Or is there a way for me to view the errors the phone is running into?
Sorry for the long post, hope someone is willing to read it and give me a little help
I finally found out what the problem is. It's actually just media files in the storage I use every day. These files only contain audio, but have the extension .ts. Video playback on the phone fails because the gallery is trying to create thumbnails of them to display. The workaround for the problem was to place a .nomedia file in the folder containing those files, to hide them from the gallery. After that the problem stopped. I've been using these files for years, and it has never been a problem until Android 8.
have you tried some other video player?
stock one is quite basic and thin.
Hi, yes I do use another players, but the gallery is failing video plaback in snapchat and stopping ringtones and alarms from working aswell, without using the stock player.
Same problem here with LG V30
I have the same problem with my phone I have the T-Mobile V30 and I have the same issue. I figured out not to take videos in 4k [email protected] works fine. But the moment I create a video at 4k it either starts playing and stops midway with sound continuing to play with frozen picture or it just says it doesn't support the video.
I've been using LG phones ever since the G2 and never had any other phone or any problems with them. This one though is getting really annoying.
I hate these Q&A format threads with a passion. I wish people would just open regular threads...

Have you tried other video players like VLC, MXPlayer?
Yes sir I did many players and VLC is always on all my devices and it also gets stuck. I'll try the .nomedia file and see how that works
And I have a problem with the smoothness of video playback in gallery, whether it's a bluray movie in mp4/mkv FHD format, or from camera in FHD or in 4k is always on Android 8.0 I have a delicate jam, how would he lose single frames every 0.7sec ~ 0 , 25sec. I came back for testing on 7.1.2 and it is perfectly smooth always, as soon as I updated to 8.0 version 20d or the latest 21h there are jam ... how b was an oreo error, quite a few friends did not catch up with this problem, I'm a perfectionist and I look at every detail whether it's a video or sound, that's why I chose the highest model of the phone.
LG releases more patches (already 4) and as soon as it appears oreo are staples. You can see that this is a pfroblem with support for video caps because MX Player also has micro jams on the hardware codec.
Interestingly, youtube is fluid.
I only hope that the Android Pie will be improved.
I'm having the same problem as well please let me know when you will find the solution to this problem of smoothness of video
At first it was running smooth AF but after some time i noticed the problem after 1 day of use.
Reseting the phone didnt work.

Amazon Prime Video app - issues viewing videos

Hi,
When trying to view videos on the Prime Video app, it appears to play normally ie sound plays, progress bar advances - there's just no video!
This happens with each show I've tried, whether streaming or from download, and regardless of download quality I choose.
I tried clearing cache, then uninstalling / reinstalling, with no luck.
Anyone have any suggestions? Very frustrating!
Best,
I just checked the Jack Ryan series and it worked fine. Checking your wifi would be the only thing I could suggest. When I had slow wifi I would get the audio, but the screen would be black. Sometimes it takes Amazon a little while to get something going.
Do you have anything checked in Dev Options (like 'Disable HW Overlays')?
Thanks both.
Defo not my WiFi - I even get the little preview when I use the seek bar, just nothing showing in the main viewing window.
No dev options activated, and everything else "stock" also.
Seems like I'm the only one having the issue after a few Google searches, so I'm at a loss!
So..... I was on the phone to Amazon support and was playing with my settings....
I use a "corner round" app to make the tablet screen more visually appealing - as soon as I disable it, Prime Video works!
So, if you have anything that creates a screen overlay, try disabling it and using Netflix / Prime video. Give it a try!
Best,
Same issue here with an app called "Rounded Corner". I had been wondering for ages until I found this thread. Thanks!
