Hi.
I still got one Streak lying around.
Question: How is the Streaks Camera compared to newer phones such as Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 4?
Is the Cam itself still quite good or as outdated as the rest?
Megapixels don't mean everything, but the Streak's camera is outclassed by the Nexus 4 8MP shooter. The Galaxy Nexus camera is the same size as the Streak camera. However, 5MP is now the realm of the budget phone, e.g. Moto E and Moto E 2d Gen. Flagship phones, except for the HTC One M8 and its "Ultrapixel" 4MP camera, all are between 13 and 16MP. That said, the camera is old, and eclipsed by most other phones.

I think every company's flagship phone makes reasonably good photos and it's a matter of personal taste to choose a company.
I mean - surely, there are people who will show me a difference between SGS2 photos and HTC Sensation and whatever LG's most expensive phone is but the bottom line for me is - I don't see a huge difference, people! If you want a decent camera then buy another device. Phone cameras IMO are just for taking party pictures and screwing around. They are simply not good enough for a photographer and that's about it.

iPhone 4S's camera is comparable to Canon S100, which is a top of the line compact camera. I really want the iPhone 4S's camera to be on Android.
Everything Apple is generally over rated;
And having used both the Galaxy S 2; and the iPhone 4s camera's
i can safely say the Samsung has the better picture.
My experience has been with HTC and Samsung:
Samsung smartphones take better pictures and videos. HTC uses too much compression which adds noise to photos and videos. Comparing my HTC Inspire to my Samsung Infuse (both 8MP cameras) I noticed the file sizes were smaller on the Inspire also leading to more noise.
This link is a review/comparison of the HTC Vivid and Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket and includes sample photos and videos:
http://www.phonearena.com/reviews/HTC-Vivid-vs-Samsung-Galaxy-S-II-Skyrocket_id2895
If you download and look at the original photos and videos, the Samsung does a much better job (notice the file sizes are larger too indicating less compression).
does anyone know any android phone with dedicated shutter button apart from the Xperia Arc?

I don't consider them comparable unless you're unfamiliar with cameras and using the s100 in auto mode. Even then there are plenty of situations where the s100 will beat the iphone since the s100 has a much more powerful flash, better low light capabilities, and optical zoom. If you do know your camera then the differences start to really mount up since you then get full control on the dedicated camera. I'm not fully familiar with the iphone's software controls but I'm assuming it doesn't have manual control of aperture and shutter speed. I'm hoping it has ISO control since some Android cameras have that but if it doesn't, there's another feature to include on the list.
All that said though, if you're uninterested in the details of photography and just want to snap a pic quickly for something like facebook, then ya, something like the iphone's camera is pretty decent.
Mytouch 4g slide cam is wonderful. The sgsII cam is good. Also the sensation/xe ect has a good cam.

The Mytouch 4G slide claims to have the best camera. I don't know if it's the best, but it's certainly one of the best. Both the physical camera hardware and the custom software are great.
Here's a shot I took in a very dark bar (no flash): http://i.imgur.com/3c8bY.jpg
And here's a shot taken that night by an iphone 4: http://i.imgur.com/8bhHa.jpg
Since most of the pics I take end up being indoors with crappy lighting, I like the fact that my phone can cope.
Im not a huge camera phone user but here are afew pics I took recently using the auto setting on the mytouch 4g slide.

HTC's 1080p display Butterfly has a "with Google" logo on the back just like the LG's prototype Nexus has. Will Butterfly will be launched as a HTC Nexus with some sacrifice on specs??
LG Nexus is based on the LG optimus but with a lesser MP camera and a slight change in design . So will the same strategy be followed by HTC too? or rather followed by Google for HTC ?
1080p + snapdragon s4 + waterproof + 2gb ram = Best Phone
I hope it will be a nexus

seems like a good phone to carry on the nexus legacy.. but 2020 mAh battery is a let down for a display like that.
That doesn't guarantee its a Nexus phone. My Droid 3 and some other phones that ship with Gapps will say "with Google" on them.
I hope it become one of the next nexus from HTC. I really don't mind the battery as long as it comes with at least 16 gb internal storage.
Hey Folks,
I am determining whether I should use my free upgrade to purchase the HTC A9. What are your thoughts on it, is it worth the "upgrade" over the m9?

Its been awhile since I looked at the spec's of the A9 so maybe I am wrong here but I thought the A9 was a mid range phone with a lesser chipset, CPU and GPU spec's. How would this be an upgrade?
Wait for the M10. The M9 is plenty of phone to get you by another 6 months and the M10 rumors if at all true, look to be promising on the camera side of things.:good:
Smaller MP camera, less ram depending on market and weaker CPU. Not an upgrade, I don't get the timing and release of the A9. I guess people were so disappointed in the M9 they had to do something. I like my M9, not sure what peoples gripe was so much. iPhone 6 to 6S not that big of improvement. I would have liked to see some more changes, but 20MP was a welcomed change from the M8.
I don't get the A9 either. The camera combination is probably better though with OIS and a F2.0 lens. The drop from 20mp to 13mp is probably a good thing. You need a hell of lens to realize a 20mp sensor. That's basically what the iPhone 6s have now. The M9's F2.2 lens, no OIS and 20mp sensor was a terrible combination.
The A9 concerns me that HTC has not found it's way yet. I hope it just means they are really focusing on the M10.
I can't image the A9 is much cheaper to make.

:The camera is the only thing that is somewhat better, played with an A9 for a long time at the store and the camera was the only "upgrade" if you will. Keep your m9 till the m10. I did like what htc did with 6.0 and sense, there are more elements of vanilla android in sense now with is a good thing. Hopefully that translates over to the m9 6.0 ota too.
I had the m8 and it broke so they offered me the m9 otherwise I'd still have the m8. The a9 isn't even as good as the m8, so no, I wouldn't get it. It's a downgrade.

I didn't know it had OIS, so yea that would be an upgrade. That said I don't think the M9 takes terrible pictures the way people act. No it's not the best camera but it's not terrible. They are working on Sense 6, I think they started rolling it out to the M8 international unlocked version already so hopefully carrier M9 version is around the corner.
I'm pretty happy with the m9 camera but I think the m8 did better in low light

I used to be a rom/kernel flasher daily starting all the way back to Nexus One and Nexus S phones, but eventually jumped ship to the iPhone 5s after the absolute **** audio and build quality of the Galaxy Nexus and the Nexus 4 (which I still have factory plastic on).
Since then I have sold and bought the iPhone yearly using Swappa, and now that I am up to the iPhone 6s Plus, I am getting really bored of IOS again. I plan on still keeping my iPhone 6s Plus, but want a second phone to use intermittently when I sell it in July.
I tried windows phone for a day, and said nope, this blows. So my choice is between Nexus 6p and S7 Edge. While the edge hardware looks amazing, I always appreciated the direct from Google updates and the unlocked boot loaders of the Nexus. So here are my questions:
How is the build quality of 6p vs S7 Edge
Is the audio qulality of either phoneup to par with iPhone 6s Plus
Camera Quality Decent?
Are the Screen poorly calibrated still, and are there kernels for that currently
How usefull are the fingerprint readers on Android now?
Can you reccomend cloud apps for this phone to sync with my ipad pro?

Ans to your ques exactly with no further clarification or explanation
1. 6p feels premium no doubt and if you want more buy the gold one
S7 edge looks dope but due to glass on back fingerprint magnet and slippery like hell also durability less than 6p
2. S7 edge audio sucks really due to ip68 water resistant you can check youtube for that as well
6p front facing loud speakers easily comparable with boomsound from htc
I would say it's louder than 6s plus but less bass
3. Both cameras are good but hdr+ on s7edge is 0.25 second faster in real time usage * and its a software side of thing so you can use 3rd party apps
Also front camera of 6p is 8mp and 5 for edge
4. Edge has the best amoled panel
6p would be 3rd after s7/edge and note 5 Also kernels for edge? Really? Roms for edge really? Unlocked bootloaders really?
Thanks to touchwiz hardly any support for s7 s7 edge
Yes kernels rom for 6p damn it's a nexus!
Yes I'm using a color profile damn my display looks so better than others much cooler.
5. 6p has one of the fastest finger print touch to unlock still i would say a lil fast than edge and yes there are android pay you can use while rooted as well there is a work around
6. Not sure about this.
Cheers ?

I just bought the 6P, after using an iPhone 6 plus for about a year and then the Galaxy Note 5 for a few weeks. Same as you, I have used various androids before the iPhone 6 launched with bigger screens (finally), but recently have missed the flexibility and power of Android. I think the build quality on the 6P is very good. But also considering the design, I think the order goes S7 > iPhone 6 > Nexus 6P. I say that because the attention to detail and materials used on the S7 is really a step above the iPhone. Both the S7 and iPhone have the gentle radius edge on the screen glass blending nicely into the chassis, the 6P does not (it's just flat). The 6P is nice, though, the aluminum feels nice and the chamfered edges look sharp. Reminiscent in appearance/style to the HTC One M7, I think. It also shares a similar (but not quite as bright) AMOLED screen with the Samsung offerings. But you should stop into a store to see the S7/S7 edge to see for yourself.
Is the audio qulality of either phoneup to par with iPhone 6s Plus
I think audio quality on 6P is just fine, the stereo front firing speakers are quite nice.. everything else I'm doing through Bluetooth, all sounds good.
Camera Quality Decent?
Photo quality on 6P is very good, better than iPhone according to DXOmark... But video quality not as good. S7 and Edge have the best camera of any smartphone on the market according to them.
Are the Screen poorly calibrated still, and are there kernels for that currently
I think the AMOLED screens on both the 6P and S7 are fantastic, better than any LCD option available. I haven't used tools to measure the technical merits of its color accuracy, but others have. To my eyes the screens are excellent. Apple needs to switch to AMOLED.
How usefull are the fingerprint readers on Android now?
The fingerprint reader on the 6P is excellent, better than the iPhone 6. The reader on my note 5 was not as good as the iPhone's, it would frequently fail and tell me to try again... I've heard it's improved on S7 but no personal experience. In terms of usefulness, you can unlock the phone obviously, but I can also use it to purchase apps in Play store, authorize android pay (and/or Samsung pay on S7), and log into PayPal. iOS is further ahead with 3rd party apps though, for example more banking apps on iOS have it integrated vs their android counterparts. I expect this will get more equal though as Marshmallow penetration expands with the S7 and G5 becoming available.
Can you reccomend cloud apps for this phone to sync with my ipad pro?
Guess it depends on what you want to sync. Google native apps sync pretty seamlessly across platforms.
The stock Marshmallow experience on the 6P is worth highlighting as another advantage. I wish Samsung would let you buy a Google Edition of their S7, free of all their extra software and carrier bloat. That's really the biggest negative in my opinion to the S7, and you can't do anything about it with its locked bootloader.
You don't buy a nexus for the build quality you buy a nexus because its a nexus and runs vanilla android and you can use android SDK and ROMs and kernels run 100 tines better than on other devices. Comparing two completely different world's IMO. And I wouldn't spend a penny on Samsung. I like choices and ROMs that run with no bugs. That's what I buy nexus and have since G1 and a few flagships along the way and never liked them as much as my nexus phones. It all depends what your looking for really. 6p is my favorite phone of all time. I'm a nexus kinda guy.

the premium quality of the 6P is up to par with anything Apple can offer... so that to me is not a problem
Software to me should be a big priority... yes apple pushes updates fast, but so do the nexus (nexi?) with monthly updates now keeping you with latest sec patches, i say go with 6P over the S7 even tho its a great phone by all means.
Went for 6p when I saw Franco Kernel is still around, which blew my mind. Got it in gold off amazon, this phone is very nice! And this finger print reader kicks ass. Can you suggest any roms?

Are you just talking about storage? In that case I'd use OneDrive! It exists for iPad Pro now:
http://9to5mac.com/2016/01/19/micro...pdated-w-ipad-pro-apple-pencil-optimizations/
Also, if you get the s7 you will get 115gb FREE for 2 years! on the other hand, you can also get this by simply logging into a onedrive account in a store on either s6, note 5, or s7 phone, and turning on camera uploads, then signing out again. I did this and have the 115gb free!
I think others have given a fair representation of the 6P vs the competition so I won't elaborate on that.
But... I will give my 2 cents on ROM's + kernel combo. IMHO, you absolutely can not beat the stability and battery life/performance of Uberstock ROM and Kylo kernel. Uberstock is pretty much an optimized stock AOSP ROM, so if you want more ROM settings flash xposed and install gravity box. I've been running this setup for several months. While I've tried other ROMs that were favorites with my Nexus 6 (Shamu), I keep going back to the setup listed above as it just makes this device the way Google should have sent it from the factory. Good luck with your choice!
I am the proud owner of the LG G2 and I don't see myself getting rid of it any time soon what with the fantastic developer support, although I am suffering slightly from the inferior camera vs. stock.
That got me thinking, are there any good phones out there where using a custom ROM doesn't mean sacrificing camera quality?
The nexus line was your only hope.
