I have my work Exchange email synced to my phone through the Gmail app. However, my company forces me to activate an Exchange administrator policy that blocks features of my phone and forces an PIN code on my lockscreen. Is there any way to disable this while still getting my work emails to my phone? Currently running the OctOS-L ROM with Android 5.1.1. Thanks.
Yes. Use Enhanced Email. It is no longer being supported, but it still has that option.

Mailwise is another option (and it's still beings supported / updated). I've been using it for the past year and it's absolutely fantastic.
I use Touchdown.
It's a paid app but it provides a container for all Exchange email.
Touchdown was one I considered, but I went with Enhanced Email. It was cheaper, if u remember right. I will have to take a look at Mailwise too, now I know about it.

Exchained
Just published a new app for this: Exchained ! Works with native mail clients, including gmail, with no need to root.
Search for "biko exchained" in the Play Store.
Please don't be too harsh if you encounter issues (uninstall within time limit to get refunded and send us feedback) as this is our first app

Today I tried to set up Active Exchange to use with my work email. While finalizing setup I get a pop-up stating "“Policy setting incompatible: Require Device Encryption”.
After some searching online, it seems the EVO 3D does not have the proper encryption to use with my company's policy. iPhones do.
Anyone have a work around or solution that has worked for them?
At my last company, this was not a requirement so setting up with Active Exchange was no problem.
What company?

Not going to put my company's name online.
I ended up downloading Touchdown and it worked fine with their Active Exchange policy. I will use that until we get an update.
I had this problem with my company and all I had to do was contact my IT department and have them authorize my device. Don't know if this is your case, but have contacted your It department yet?

Yes I contacted them and they said my phone did not have the proper encryption to use with their system.

So my brother just lost his phone. He had not anti theft app installed. Is there a way the phone can be tracked? I've tried plan B on the market but it didn't seem to work. The phone is rooted and unlocked if that helps. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Have him sign into play.Google.com and install a GPS tracking program. If the phone is turned on still, it'll download automatically to the phone then sign in. Cerberus is THE best program for this.
Incorrect password entries result in a picture of the person trying to unlock it being taken and emailed to an address of choice - silently.
You can set off an alarm that is unable to be turned off.
Locate the phone from Cerberus's web page.
Good luck.

I feel for him. 3wks after I got my launch day Evo, it WS lost/stolen,and I had just switched my insurance over to best buy insurance (which doesn't cover lost/stolen, but asurion did). I tried everything on earth/Google. Even plan B, from the online market, which is designed for that exact purpose, and none of it worked.
Ended up having to replace it
at full cost for 600$.
Good luck.

Edot : if on a family plan, you can go to sprint.com/family locater and at least get GPS coordinates, which is better than any market apps did for me.

There's also an app called "Plan B". Worth looking into.
He stated that he already tried 'plan b'.
Have him try Android lost. It's free and has the ability to install and activate after the phone is already gone / lost / stolen, which sounds like your case.

What about Lookout?
Thanks for the replies guys ill look into what u guys suggested when I get home.
Also what if they deleted the Google account that the phone is linked to the phone ? would I be able to install the apps?

No

HTC has built in tracking
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
Don't mean to go negative here, but if it is lost its gone till he finds it because by now the battery is dead. If it was stolen or found like others have said, the Google account is probably already changed. The only hope if it still has battery is the Sprint family locator since I believe it uses ESN or phone number to track not Google account.
Trying to set up gmail using Exchange and it keeps saying server unavailable. I was thinking Google killed exchange for all its competition...I didn't realize they killed it for Android based phones as well, or am I missing something?

They REALLY want you to use the Gmail app, which sucks because I know that I love a unified inbox.

Yea I love the stock email...especially in black. What do I need to purchase from Google in order to be able to use Google with exchange??
Sent from my LG-E970 using Tapatalk 2
I use exchange with no issues. Check your settings and then check you corp policy. My company only allows so many connections via mobile devices. I used up all mine while flashing my HTC Vivid and the LGOG. The best way to set up exchange is to do manual setup from settings/accounts.

He doesn't mean corporate Exchange, he means that you can no longer add your Google account via their exchange connector, m.google.com. They did away with this recently to make you use IMAP andCalDAV/CardDAV.
Has anyone been able to claim their 50gb Google Drive offer? Didn't get no pop up for it when I opened the app.

No 50gb offer here. I was just wondering if I did or didn't do something that was required for this promo

Same man. Can't figure it out. HTC says to go through the Google Drive app and it should say redeem....but didn't get anything.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
Just got off the phone with Google drive support and they manually applied the 50gb offer to my account
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
i think we can all thank AT&T for not having the 50gb google drive offer. They might've opted to be excluded from it like the Dropbox offer for their Galaxy S4. If you check the HTC Advantage features inside the box, this feature is not listed there
Just redeemed my 50GBs of data through the phone. Called support and representative was surprised that there is an offer but it is not displaying in app. He asked me to take a tour option and it didn't help. Maybe there is a way to clear app data from app management?!

I did everything on here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2698548
I called HTC support and they manually sent me an activation email where I clicked and added the storage.

I also didn't, but with 100GB for 1.99/m, I'm not really that broken up about it
Verizon's visual voice mail is giving me lots of problems on the G3. Well actually the same problems after the kitkat update on the G2 too. 50% of the time I get a no data connection error and have to refresh. That or turn off wifi for a while which seems to handle it better. It's a real nuisance. Anyone else see anything like this? I'm thinking it's a combination of Kitkat and Verizon.
Yes. It's horrible. Same on Droid Maxx.
My solution is perfect. Use youmail visual voicemail. And use the app better youmail. It avoids the annoying contact sync that youmail uses. And you can change every setting and then some.
The only feature that doesn't work is, if you integrate the voicemail in your call log, it will show up but you can't hit play. But if you have a notification of a missed voicemail it will play from there just fine.
Highly recommend. Worth the cost.

thx, but the reviews seem to sketchy and really Verizon should fix this.
The reviews are good from my friends and family. Just refund it if you don't like it. Trust me messages never expire

They also don't say how much it is on the play site. Is it a monthly service or one time charge?
One time charge for the app. 4.99 I think. It's worth it. No annoying contact sync that youmail app has.

I'm having the same issue.. Just happened to check voice-mail noticed I hadn't received any lately, and had freaking 8 or 9 unread from almost 2 weeks ago... Come on big red not cool.... I don't have visual voice-mail just regular still not receiving them...thinks it's time to give verizon a call

The voice mail notifications seem to clear and not return whereas on my s3 cleared voice mail notifications would come back.
To me it is the worst thing about the phone. It's almost unusable. How can it be so hard to manage voice mail? This is the kind of stuff that makes me re-think iphones as an option. . . . nah.. not yet.
Seriously, it is a hand off issue I think. This should just silently fail until it gets a good enough signal. It's just amazingly annoying otherwise.
If I put in my T-Mobile sim and install their visual voicemail, it works great. Same with Cricket.

Google Voice.
By the way, I tried that Youtalk app and it was the worst piece of S I have ever tried to use. It didn't work at all. I'll just suffer through the missed data connections of the Verizon app.
Why not use Google voice?

It's a work phone and I don't want to use Google voice. I want Verizon voicemail to work correctly. If it can't work on wifi, then it should ignore wifi. It doesn't. verizon needs to fix this to work better.

I mean we are on an android OS... The beauty of android is that if your voicemail app isn't working you have tons of options in the play store for visual voicemail. I would recommend YouMail..best visual voicemail out there IMO..

Amen to youmail! Love using it with better youmail app to avoid annoying contact sync and gain extra features. Disappointed that vm call log integration doesn't work well though.
