Lost Phone - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

So my brother just lost his phone. He had not anti theft app installed. Is there a way the phone can be tracked? I've tried plan B on the market but it didn't seem to work. The phone is rooted and unlocked if that helps. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have him sign into play.Google.com and install a GPS tracking program. If the phone is turned on still, it'll download automatically to the phone then sign in. Cerberus is THE best program for this.
Incorrect password entries result in a picture of the person trying to unlock it being taken and emailed to an address of choice - silently.
You can set off an alarm that is unable to be turned off.
Locate the phone from Cerberus's web page.
Good luck.

I feel for him. 3wks after I got my launch day Evo, it WS lost/stolen,and I had just switched my insurance over to best buy insurance (which doesn't cover lost/stolen, but asurion did). I tried everything on earth/Google. Even plan B, from the online market, which is designed for that exact purpose, and none of it worked.
Ended up having to replace it
at full cost for 600$.
Good luck.

Edot : if on a family plan, you can go to sprint.com/family locater and at least get GPS coordinates, which is better than any market apps did for me.

There's also an app called "Plan B". Worth looking into.

He stated that he already tried 'plan b'.

Have him try Android lost. It's free and has the ability to install and activate after the phone is already gone / lost / stolen, which sounds like your case.

What about Lookout?

Thanks for the replies guys ill look into what u guys suggested when I get home.
Also what if they deleted the Google account that the phone is linked to the phone ? would I be able to install the apps?

No

HTC has built in tracking
Sent from my EVO using xda premium

Don't mean to go negative here, but if it is lost its gone till he finds it because by now the battery is dead. If it was stolen or found like others have said, the Google account is probably already changed. The only hope if it still has battery is the Sprint family locator since I believe it uses ESN or phone number to track not Google account.

HTC watch question

Hey guys, hopefully you can help me out with this....
I had the sensation 4g,downloaded the movie 300 from the HTC watch app, then migrated to sprint for the EVO 3d,now when I try to buy a movie,it says Bill my tmo account instead of sprint. I can't for the life of me figure out how to change it to sprint! Talked to a sprint rep and she said the best I can do is make another account. The problem is if I do make another account, ill lose the movie I have now! Anyone run into this prob? Please let me know!

Check in the settings of watch.
In the payment methods, does it show up there? If so, try tapping on it and see if it gives a delete option like it does for credit cards.
failing that, contact HTC and get them to escalate it to saffron digital (the company they bought who make the watch software). They should be able to transfer the purchase to the new account. Of course, just cos they can, doesn't necessarily mean they will.

Hot spot getting billed.

So I've had my phone rooted since day one and the last two months my bill has showed fees for two if my three lines with hot spot fees and it just so happens to be the two rooted phones with hot spots. Both of witch are Evo 3ds just wondering if this has happened to anyone else. Or if any one has any suggestions on a solution to my problem. Both phones are 1.5 hboot one of them is running CM7 one eternity.

This.
If you're going to use the feature, at least pay for it. People that use the feature without paying and use a lot of data are part of the reason why unlimited data plans are going away.
I don't use this service but unlocked hotspots come with every rom and it is now being added to my bill. Just trying to find out why.

They have no way of telling you are rooted, or running a hotspot app, especially if you have never even used the hotspot app. If it's on your bill, either someone on your account put it there, or it may have just been a mistake by a rep. Either way, there is nothing we can do about it here. You need to call your carrier and have them take it off.
I know there is nothing any of you can do about it I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else.

M8, the wifi hotspot (if thats what you mean) is a feature of the phone and you should not be billed ontop of your usual bill for it, if your a crazy downloader and have just downloaded about 20 dvd's from it or something then fair enough they may have something to moan about, but from my understanding it's a feature of the phone and if you have an unlimited data plan then they have no right to bill you extra for using something on your phone that has nothing to do with them, all you are doing if you use it is utilizing your phones features and your tarriffs benefits.
Speak to them and get it sorted, it's never happened to me in over 4 years of using HTC devices with this feature rooted or not.

unlimited data plans are going mental in the UK, 3, t-mobile and i think another one offer unlimited data, no signs of them going anywhere.
Plus this guy shouldn't be paying for this, unless he signed up to something, this is a feature of the phone and nothing to do with the network.

there was no mistake when they added it on there. They illegally added it on there to hope you don't notice and gain income on idiots that don't check their bill. They'll get away with their illegal actions because they feel that they are above the law.

That is a fact. There are thousands of reports of the same issues with the company. Also, just look at the tax fraud alone and tell me that they care about doing things that are legal.
I don't have to source anything to an uneducated member. Pick up a paper once in a while.
btw, THOSE PHONES BELONG to us. Not sprint. They can't legally block a function of the phone to force profit. They get away with it because no one stops them. Just like this so called 10 dollar extra a month per phone for having a rock solid speedy phone. they didn't provide that phone to us. HTC DID! Consumers no longer have control over large companies. The government no longer has control.
I never got billed, but one time I went to turn on 4g and accidently turned on hot spot. Within 5 minutes I received a text from sprint mentioning the benefit of the hot spot feature and how to add it to my plan. Coincidence?

Sprint and Google Play no longer doing Carrier billing?

Has anyone else tried to purchase an app in the last couple of days using Carrier billing in Google Play? I have tried the last couple of days and while it shows my Sprint account when I goto pay, it won't let me select it. It is greyed out and all I can use is one of my credit cards that have been saved.
I am wondering if this has something to do with Google Wallet being broken on the Lte? Anyone else having this issue? I was going to call Sprint on my lunch break and see what they had to offer as well.

Well just got off the phone with Sprint. First it was supposedly on Google's end so I asked to speak with someone else. Next tech initially said that they no longer allow carrier billing and it stopped about three months ago. When I explained that I just used it over the weekend and that Sprint had just recently announced a partnership with Google Play for all store items she seemed confused and put me on hold. Then came back and said that my bill was behind so Google turned it off??? Next I informed her that actually my account is over paid by $80 she was even more upset and flustered. I thought she put me on hold again but she had just hung up on me. In the end she must have cleared my account as the apps I was trying to purchase I was able to.
Talk about horrible service and way to make sure your tech support team is well trained Sprint. What a joke...

My account was showing past due as well last month, when it clearly wasn't. I called in and they couldn't explain it either, but I got good service on the phone. My phone rep was very helpful and was going to call and follow up next month to make sure I wasn't charged anything extra.
To bring up an old subject, the other day I tried to buy an App. I kept getting an error, so I cleared the cache for the Play Store. and now I don't even have an obtion to bill to carrier. Any ideas?

It could be a Rom issue I know in the past I wasn't able to on certain roms. I haven't tried in a while but I did purchase some songs a few weeks ago. I believe I was on one of the earlier builds of meanbean. Try doing a back up and flashing a stock rom.

I have carrier billing. Always did. I heard a rumor if you don't pay your bill on time the option gets removed till you make a few consecutive payments on time. At least that's what a sprint Rep told my sister when she called to complain about not having the option.
I posted screenshots earlier today on another post regarding this matter showing I have the option. I'm never late on bills or ever have been so maybe that's why.

[Q] VZW Demo App

I have an Unlocked Verizon Note 2 I was wondering how do I stop VZW Demo App for re-installing itself. I keep uninstall it but re-install itself minutes later. My sister got it off craigslist, so I'm stuck with the phone. Is it possible to root it and put it on a different rom or install a stock rom to it?
Edit: Just realize post this in the wrong section some one please move it to the right one please.

Not to hijack a thread, but does Verizon actually block lte phones that are lost and stolen? Or is it like gsm where it will still work with a good SIM?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
Seeing as they still have IMEIs im pretty sure they can be blocked if they are reported. I have read in the GS3 forums where some guys had gotten the phone off ebay or craiglist and VZW woupdnt activate it dues to it being reported stolen. They didnt have a 4g sim card though and were trying to get VZW to send them one so while that still leaves it uo in the air...
Im pretty sure if you use a phone on VZW that is reported stolen then they will block it and contact you, and im pretty sure theyd be able to even tho we use sim cards in 4g phones now.
When the first iphone came out I got one, I was young and stupid, and it got stolen within a month. When i called AT&T and reported it stolen they told me that it had been activated on a different account and that they were blocking it off of their network permanently and would contact the user and ask them to return it. I dont know what ever came of it cause they were supposed to contact me if they got it back, I assume they didn't, but even they could block a phone permanently back then sooo......

Need to remove VZW app. Can someone help?
Remove VZW Demo App.
you will need to root the device and remove/move 2 System Apps.
location : /system/app/
Apps to move/remove:
com.customermobile.preload.main.apk
com.customermobile.preload.apk
use the following commands
mv com.customermobile.preload.main.apk com.customermobile.preload.main.apk.bk
mv com.customermobile.preload.apk com.customermobile.preload.apk.bk
that should do it.
you can use SafeRoot for the Note 2.
then you can uninstall the VZWDemo app in Settings/Applications/All.
Good Luck
this is a super old thread, but the question still remains. I purchased an OLD LG Intuition, it has the VZW Demo app on it. Everytime i delete it, it redownloads itself when I connect to wifi. Anybody know how to stop it redownloading?
install app freezer with no root, check google play for any app freezer which doesnt needs root

Sprint Techs Clueless

Called Sprint Tech Services regarding my lack of receiving phone calls (straight to vm). He tried getting me to do dialer codes, changing my MSID, etc. No-luck. I'm using a loaner phone from Best Buy right now, so the phone is obviously not the issue. He said the sprint vision may be an issue, but I told him my other line (OG Evo) works just fine. Any ideas?
Sent from my SPH-L300 using xda app-developers app
Call back and get a different person.
Explain your OG EVO is working.
But the phone may very well be the issue considering it is a loaner. If the next tech you reach can't get it working go to best buy and tell them the loaner isnt working and let them try and get it to work. If they can't get it get different phone. Don't leave best buy till you know it works.

So, went to Sprint Corporate store today to fix my no incoming call issue. They tried evetything u could think of. Dialer codes, resets, clearing and SOC's, u name it. It was not working. Five techs and a sales consultant. They called into their tech people, and nothing. At the end, the sales consultant turned off 4g, re-provisioned on 3g, and it works. Hour and a half later, I can receive calls.

The Techs are some snobby asses at that stores. They acted like they did not want to do their jobs. The sales guy tried telling them to do this and that, and the Tech guys were like "do it yourself if ur so smart". It was kinda embarassing.
