Any Help Please: Unbrick my Moto E XT1021 - Moto E Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Hello everyone,
I am trying to unbrick my Moto E XT1021 but so far nothing work. Here are the infos:
Status: Device is unlocked (Status Code: 3), rooted, and CWM Recovery (v6.0.4.9) is installed.
Initially, I installed Kitkat Rom from this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7S5WmlPgrI, but after finishing, OTA showed me an update to 5.0.2, which I did. Everything work fine for about a month until last week where my phone just stop working.
Problem: Device is stuck on the Motorola Logo, bootloader loop.
Tested Solutions so far:
1- I tried to restore the stock firmware from the bootloader mode, but I always failed. I am applying the procedure given in:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2759495
but it always failed. The method is working and the phone's screen some instructions are appearing, but between them, I notice in red/pink color that the phone is saying:
....
hab check failed for boot
......
hab chck failed for recovery
2- I also tried to install zip from sdcard from the CWM Recovery, or even to simply wipe cache, .... but strangely I am getting error on CWM as following:
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_install
E: Can't open/cache/recovery/last_install
and when I tried to install zip from sideload, I am also getting an error:
E:Error in /tmp/update.zip
(Status 7)
So.....basically, I do not know what to do or try more. Any idea. Please Help ?!!!
Thanks

I tried again using this time twrp-2.7.1.0-condor.img, but still I am getting on the phone's screen the same message:
"Mismatched partition size (recovery)",
and on the adb (CMD) window, I am getting:
<bootloader> Failed to erase partition
<bootloader> Failed to flash partition recovery
Failed <remote failure>
Any ideas ?!!!. Please Help !!!
Try ro use twrp 2.5.8 or above instead and write the following command in cmd
Fastboot boot recovery.img
In this way you're not owerwriting the recovery and if it boots up fine then install the stock firmware
Peace✌
Hit thanks pls

Ur internal storage is gone...consult ur nearby Motorola service centre
To confirm whether ur internal is working or not flash a boot logo via adb, if it fails to install then ur internal is gone!! :/

Most of the links were dead but fortunately I found one that still alive. The site is the following: http://forum.motofan.ru/?showtopic=1731307 I attached some of the files to this post.
Thank you Reiki21 Thanks a lot. I was about to loose hope on this. Can you please guide me on how to unlock bootloader. Do i keep them in ZIP format or will have to use RAR format.

If not then you can download it from here: http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.8-sunfire.img To flash it go into fastboot mode and use the following comand: moto-fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.8-sunfire.img
unlock failed I tried to unlock again , this time it ran for 98% and failed , but still when i boot it shows unlocked
I wouldn't use RSD after unlocking my phone, if the process of RSD flashing is interrupted (The usb cable got disconected, a black out, etc) the phone would most likely hard brick. You said it flashed until 98%, can you still access the menu by pressing power and vol -?
yes yes can access menu can you still access the menu by pressing power and vol moto-fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.8-sunfire.img this img doesnot run in demon tool Can you msg ur num to [email protected] , ill msg u on watsup all pics step by step

Click to collapse Sadly I don't have whatsup, anyways I think you just need to flash the custom recovery to be able to flash cm10. If you downloaded moto-fastboot from my attachments, unzip it on the root of you hard disk (C:\). After that copy the recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.8-sunfire.img inside moto-fastboot-win32 folder (C:\moto-fastboot-win32) See the attachment Put your phone into fastboot mode by pressing the power button and vol -, when you see fastboot below the word unlocked press vol + Open CMD and type: cd \moto-fastboot-win32 moto-fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.8-sunfire.img moto-fastboot reboot After that you should have a new recovery menu.
done On doing this i got the following message:: flashing partition recovery flashing mbr to device flashing stormgr partition : sos what would be the next step
After that reboot your phone using moto-fastboot reboot. Now enter the recovery menu and try to flash your rom.
unable to restart r_grsh said: On doing this i got the following message:: flashing partition recovery flashing mbr to device flashing stormgr partition : sos what would be the next step Click to expand... CM 10 Can you please upload any working CM 10 \ 9 . Might be the rom im trying to install is corrupt
Which CM10 version are you trying to install? Can you provide me the link to the thread?
cm-10.1.3-xt897 cm-10.1.3-xt897 this is the one im trying , not sure where i found it . think this is the one https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=xt897
I see what's wrong that CM10 rom is for another phone, the Photon Q. This phone is the Photon 4G (MB855) which I know would confuse anyone >.< You just need to find the right CM10 for your phone and install it. Hi guys. I am trying to root my father's HTC desire 601 the whole day. My current situation is: unlocked bootloader and no root, S-ON, hboot-2.22.0000 when I turn my phone on by standard way (or reboot or go to recovery) it automaticaly goes to bootloader after short blink of HTC logo, I can´t do factory reset or anything other action from menu (always stack in bootloader) I have tried to lock bootloader (no response). Do you anyone know if it is possible to get my father´s phone to stock or any function condition, please? I am absolutely helpless. Thank you very much. Best regards Richard

stuck on stock boot screen This worked on my Htc desire 601 after my phone only booted into white screen stock recovery screen. (it would keep rebooting to fastboot screen only, not twrp screen.) using ADB/FASTBOOT TOOLS i had to use command prompt from TOOLS folder to make it work, or else i kept getting errors, could not load file etc. I also put recovery .img in every folder i was using the command prompt until i got it working. Good luck! p.s. i had issues until i formated then full wipe install from twrp screen.
