You can't flash Sbf rom with the phone, you must do it with RSD Lite.
Here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3023837 is everything you need...
I suggest that you read a lot before you do something with your phone

That file is an update.zip
It only works if correct stock ROM is installed, and all stock apps are still installed, even then it's not uncommon for install to fail.
To use RSD Lite you need the FXZ(xml.zip) for your Carrier/region.

Wich solution to take to upgrade 2.3.5 ginger

I spent my day reading all the threads about rooting the Razr and upgrading to ICS, but with that much information, I am a little confused.
First I rooted my phone using the Motofail Solution:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342567
Then, and instaled the ClockworkMod using Razr Bootstrapper App:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347767
Now I want to upgrade my phone to ICS, but the tutorials that I found says that the version of ICS are for one specific version of phone or need a specifIc soluction to flash (like RSD lite)
So, my questions are:
1) Did I really need to upgrade for 2.3.6 before upgrade to ICS. Why?
2) Do someone knows a ROM to upgrade to 2.3.6 and other to upgrade to ICS trough ClockworkMod, that works with my phone version (651.73.250.XT910.Latam.en.01) :fingers-crossed:
3) Is there a way to flash a RSD litle fastboot file on linux?

1)
yes, you need to do. ICS is based on the 2.3.6 ROM files via md5 checksums of your current system. this prevents you from flashing some kind of ROM that would brick your whole phone.
2)
i'm not sure which ROM you could choose to do that, but maybe get some nude Retail 2.3.5 ROM... with a branded kind you will not be able to find much / any custom ROM.
just check this to get a working firmware ROM.
why don't you just upgrade to official 2.3.6 and afterwards to official ICS?
3)
man, i don't know... i'm windows user... but just ask google?
ps: official OTA's don't need clockwordmod
The firmware is the answer.
Thanks, Sh4itan for the attention,
That is what I could figure out.
1) The upgrade for 2.3.6 has a firmware on it, so, that´s why I had to upgrade for 2.3.6 before ICS.
2) My phone was a Latam.en.01 version, but I instaled a Latam.br version and worked just fine .
3) I used the RSD solution because I was more confident using a tested solution. So, I still don't know any RSD solution for Linux.

Just download the LATAM ICS Fastboot files and flash them via RSD Lite,It's really that simple.
Those fastboot files are linked at the development section here, use the search bar.

There is a utiluty, in the development section, for linux that you can use to flash .173. But if you have adb installed on your machine you can just flash all the .img through terminal. I beleve the code is /fastboot flash system system.img/ ?fastboot flash boot boot.img/ ect.

[Q] How to update do ICS? (special case)

Hi guys, I'm new with the Android system, so please, sorry for being noob. Well, I just bought an Droid Razr (20 days ago) in Amazon, the GSM international version for use in Brazil, and it came with Android 2.3.6, and after reading about ICS, obviously I want to update my phone. The problem is, Motorola doesn't offers me the OTA update (and not through the menu about phone etc). My sister has the same phone and bought it here and she already received the OTA update to ICS. I'm freaking out here, I searched a lot of things, but don't know what to do. My phone system version is: 651.167.21.XT910.Retail.en.EU. Thanks for the attention

In pretty much the same situation as yourself, just bought a Razr Maxx here in the UK today from P4U. It is running 2.3.6 currently and have tried both over the air and through the Moto desktop software but to no avail.
I am on 651.167.26.XT910.Retail.en.EU.
Help anyone?
Same problem, UK retail wont upgrade to ics, emailed moto and they asked if I had rooted, havent so emailed back saying so and no reply yet, starting to wish id gone Samsung, had similar problem on my defy, i'm tempted to root but cant find any stable jelly bean roms (anyone?) also woould like to delete the need for speed demo that never even worked, also is this phone 4g capable? or is that just in the us?
Good to hear that is not only with me. I also tried with Moto Update Software and nothing. I can't find any official Motorola ROM to try to install also
Anybody? UP
Still a no!!! This is slightly silly and can't be good PR for Moto.
Right, so I got a little bored and went and did the flashing on RDS lite.
Its actually very simple to do it and took about 30 mins in all.
You can get the generic .xml file from here http://www.droidevelopers.com/showthread.php?13330-Download-RAZR-XT910-Stock-4-0-4-Ice-Cream-Sandwich-fastboot-XML
Then just extract so you can get the .xml file.
Easy enough to do and with 5 mins I got another update which I presume is a fix for some of the bugs.
Just a little proof here. Heres a screen grab of my newly updated phone.

Yesterday I tried the Razrguy video on youtube and it didn't work. But I learned how to load flashboots on my device. So the flashboot you posted, will it work on my device? It's running the 651.167.26.XT910.Retail.en.EU
I just have to use the RSD light to flash it on my device? There's no problem to loading it on gingerbread?
I can't possibly see why it wouldn't work on your device. I was using RSD on windows 7. Like i say fairly simple process.
Oh and no i didn't root or unlock any bootloaders.

sorry probably sound stupid, but when i unzip the file to extract the .xml its tiny, do i just leave this in its directery and point rsd lite at it?
I made a new folder on my desktop and extracted to there then point RSD to that .xml in the folder.

[Q] Need help on a relatively simple problem

Hi guys,
I posted a question similar to this before, but did not get much reply.
I have a chinese Razr, and I would like to install an English stock 4.1.2 onto it. This is mostly because for some reason gapps do not work and I really do want gapps.
I have not flashed phones for two years so I have no idea what everything is. And it seemed like all these requires root. Which is my other problem: I cannot install root on this phone no matter what I try. Someone suggested to me that this was because someone had rooted this phone before in an unconventional way and this locked the phone for any future roots. And when I had updated to 4.0.4 I had lost the root and cannot regain it. I must have tried 20 different methods to root this phone already so I'm pretty sure this is hopeless until I flash a different rom.
In any case, my android version is 4.1.2 and system version is 672.300.384.XT910ChinaRetail.en.CN
And I would like to flash a stock 4.1.2 on it.
Check in the dev forum, you'll find links to the correct gapps for your
version.

This is the gapps you need : http://www.4shared.com/get/HDGIsCws/update_gms_jb_spyder_r4.html
This is the china 4.12 root tool : http://dl.projectlense.com/download.php?file=spyder/razr_legacy_jbroot_034.zip
This is bmm apk : http://dl.projectlense.com/download.php?file=bmm/com.projectlense.bootmenu.getinfo.apk
What you need to do is simple, root your phone using the legacy jbroot by whirleyes, install the bootmenu manager apk file. Reboot into bootmenu recovery and flash the Gapps R4 package.
Dont thank me !

[Q] Noob To Modding RAZR MAXX, Need some guideance!

So I just got a RAZR MAXX running on 4.1.2 Jellybean and found out it was already rooted! So that got me all excited and worked up pretty good! But, i don't know a whole lot about this phone. I am not new to rooting and or/ modding my phone. Ive modded my Droid x2 inside and out but this phone has a lot to worry about on messing up. So i was wanting some help a direction from the community on a couple things (Yes Ive read the forums inside and out on this website on this phone and how to do different things to it, but most are not clear or complicated)
So a few things im needing to know before i do any modding and development to my phone:
How to install and flash a ROM properly and how to change between ROMs using SS3.65 (Already got SSv3.65)
How do restore my RAZR if i mess it up back to 4.1.2 on JB using RSDLite? (Got the XML.zip and RSDLite)
What do the ROM Slots do and how to use them in SS3? (Would like to get the RAGE ROM on my RAZR)
Anything I need to be cautious about before Flashing ROMs, SBFing, and or other modifications (Dont wanna brick a new phone...)
Programs i should get? (To flash files and mod the phone? *I got Batmans Utility, SS3, RSDLite, ADB, SDK, Motorola Device Manger)
Like I said I dont know much about this RAZR MAXX of mine and would like some personal guidance from the community! I so GREATLY appericate it! Please if you know anything i could do or help me in anyway, PLEASE reply, all help is needed!

Then it's easier to do a factory reset,Settings/Backup&Reset/Factory reset/Reset phone...
And you can check Erase SD card to erase your internal storage,to be 100% clean.
But since you are already rooted I'll suggest you to install Safestrap or BMM and try some of Kitkat roms, some of them are really good
