I am trying to root my friends s3. Seems to have worked but instead of having the normal options in recovery mode, its missing "install from sdcard"
I haven't done anything different to how I went about rooting my s3.
Anyone?

Has you GS3's friend a SD card plug in at least ? Using CWM or CWM Touch ?
Else reflash CWM via Odin could be a solution.
When we first initially flash via odin, no. Tried to reflash but no luck.

hmm... seems like you messed up with the actual root process somewhere, try ref lashing again, but remember to follow the steps TO THE LETTER, otherwise i can't seem to know of any other fix.

Flash the unroot package that Chainfire provide to cancel all you have done so far in the rooting process then try once more from the beginning.
Apologies if this is in the wrong place.
I have been googling and reading for the past 2 hours trying to figure out how to fix this.
I have recovery v5.5.0.4.
I tried to flash the stock rom and it gives me error 7.
I then tried flashing a CM rom with the same error.
It apparently will not mount my external even when I select "mount external" so I have no access to my nandroid.
No ADB and no rom make for a very expensive paperweight
all help is VERY appreciated
Try mounting the internal? Also worst case scenario you can just Odin back to a stock rom too you know.
Good luck!

Wipe cache then you should be able to reboot system

I can access the internal which is where my two roms are located, but neither work. Do you flash the rom with odin the same way you flash a kernal?
Yeah man you just download the tar file and flash that sucker in Odin, quick fix for anything bad.

I feel like an idiot for being able to fix it so easily like that... Thank you for your help though.
Hello guys!
My problem is that I wanted to root my freind's I9100, but something went totally wrong...
Now my problem is that the bootloader doesn't seem to work... I hold the power button, the screen lights up, nothing happens for 1-2 minutes, it crashes and it all begins again.
The only thing that is working (I think) is the Download mode...
I tried to flash VillainROM v1.1 (I read that it would solve the problem somewhere), but it didn't work...
Also with that ROM I can get to the recovery, but unfortunately it can't find the storage (Of course I have a backup on there...)
I'm really worried right now, because it's not mine...
Please help me! :crying:
If you can get into Download mode, then flash a stock rom and see if that fixes your problem.
Stock rom 4.0.3 or 4.0.4 without the emmc brick bug

Didn't work for me... Any other ideas?
EDIT: I waited some minutes and now it says "KERNEL PANIC UPLOAD MODE" any ideas?
EDIT2: I've done a lot of research now and it seems like I have an emmc-brick which can only be fixed by re-partitioning... does anyone know where I can get the PIT file and if that would fix it? THANKS
what method did u use to root??
I didn't root it, i installed CWM recovery, wiped system, and then when i tried to wipe data it crashed...

I don't think that this makes a difference, root basically is just some modified system files, isn't it?
and with a new rom the old system partition gets wiped completely
I dont think its super bricked if u can power on the device. try to get into download mode and flash a stock rom. If you have warranty you better take your phone to samsung repair centre

That's what I tried about 15 times...
Only the rom, with bootloader, with all 4 parts, with pit, only pit, only kernel, pit & all 4 parts, nothing seems to work...
when I try all 4 parts it's stuck at DATAFS (or something like that)
& when I flashed VillianROM v1.1 it gets me into recovery, but it always says that it can't find E:\*
Please help me & thanks for you who tries / tried to help me...

Actually i know what I'm doing...
It looks like it's hardbricked because of a so called "brick bug" on the newest android version for the S2/Note

No it cant be. If you can power on your device its not super bricked..If it was super bricked your phone would be just a piece of plastic that gets heat up near the camera area. you should have just flashed a safe kernel like siyah using odin. Its perfectly safe. you must have ticked the repartition on Odin
Your data partition is corrupted. And only flashing a .pit file would save your phone. If it doesnt, i think samsung is the only way...

I need some help please. I accidentally formatted my tablets system when I wanted to format SD Card.
I went and formatted SD Card after not thinking my ROMS are on it! So now im stuck at the Galaxy Tab logo prompt on
boot up and I have no files to install. How can I copy a file over to the device?
I have not tried connecting to my computer yet but I feel it wont connect due to the device not fully booted.
I can get to download mode... Is there a stock odin file I can push to the device to get it up and running again?
If someone could help me I would appreciate it! Thanks!
Boot into download mode, then from your computer flash the stock tar.md5 via Odin.
Get them from here www.sammobile.com

I tried to register on sammobile.com but for some reason was not able to. Browser related I think.
I found the site samsung-updates.com and found straight downloads.
Does it matter which region I download?

Help guys i cant flash any ROM,Gapps etc But i can flash superSU,recoveries.
I can Also flash Stock ROM Via ODIN but I cannot flash any custom ROM? I tried different recoveries
Here's what happens when i flash the ROM i select the file it shows the progress and then after 30 seconds it Reboots Recovery or refreshes recovery (because the log is afresh or nothing is in the log).
Use an official cwm recovery from the official website and try again.
