Update Via PC Companion not working - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all.
I need some help how to update the z2 to lollipop.
I've read stuff on internet, but I simply can not do it.
The error 2003 is killing me... And I do not know what to do.
A month ago I bought a z2 for my brother and it was/is on kitkat.
Today, I bought a z2 for my father and there was lollipop already installed.
I bought both phones via Ebay.
The phones have the same Model Number.
On the kitkat z2 I cant update via OTA either.
Could you PLEASE tell me what to do?
I have read something, that my bootloader may be unlocked and I have to relock it.
Is that true? And if yes, how can I check if my bootloader is locked?
Thanks in advance!

Use flashtool to flash a stock FTF image, this way you won`t have to bother with the bootloader, unlocked or not.
If the phone is rooted OTA updates won`t work., it will say it can`t verify. And it`s true that unlocking the bootloader will cause OTA updates to stop working.

Question about Relock Bootloader vs PCC

Please, i relock my bootloader, i had unlocked it but i decided to lock it again.
How can I test, how to know if everything is ok? If I did right?
In line Xperia ARC when unlock the bootloader, the Track ID stopped working, when the relock bootloader again, he returned to work.
Xperia in S there is the same way to verify this? Or have some other way to make sure everything is ok with the bootloader? Because I want to receive updates from ICS by PCC or OTA.
Thanks for attention.
Just check it in the service menu.

Connect your phone to pc and open PCC, then click on update phone, it'll take few moments and should say no update available or your phone has updated software or something like that...!!! If it says, you are running modified software or something like that then its not locked...!!! Try relocking...!!!

So everything is ok here.
Very Thanks !
mine says that even with the bootloader unlocked. try the service menu to find out for sure

[Q] Upgrade to .75/.76 - Future ICS

Hello,
PC Companion says that i have a new update, but i've unlocked and rooted my phone, so when the install should begin, an error pops up saying that i have a modded firmware and i cannot update it.
So, i think the same issue will go on when next week or next year ICS will be released.
The question is: what i have to do to update my XS? I've to flash the ftf loosing the recovery and then reinstall it? Doing that, i will lost all the apps and everything on my phone?
Thank You very much
If you have unlocked bootloader, you cannot update using the official method, but only through flashtool.
If for some reason you want to use the official way, you should relock the bootloader, here is the guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527159
As far as my knowledge goes: You could backup your apps, lock your bootloader, upgrade to ICS, unlock bootloader, achieve root, restore apps. You'll probably have to wait for root for ICS though, shouldn't take long at all.
Or at least that's how I hope it will work.
So, the faster way is to wait for a custom rom correctly packed to be flashed via recovery
Thank guys

How to put stock sony fw back on phone

I think/hope this might be an easy question.
I have an xperia S that has bootloader unlocked and currently running a custom rom. In the next few weeks I may be swapping the phone with a family member. How would I go about getting the phone back on stock Sony firmware. I am not bothered about relocking the bootloader but I want to be able to put stock sony fw back on the phone so that they would be able to update the phone officially via sony pc companion.
it's a bit as I can flash roms /kernels and unlock bootloaders on these things but have now idea how to get it back to stock
cheers

You can reflash the stock ROM with flashtool. In order to get updates via PC Companion again, you need to relock your bootloader.

Will flashing my t-mobile s5 reset my sim unlock?

Hello,
I live in India and I purchased t-mobile s5 online and it already came unlocked and rooted. It was a bad esn set. I don't know how the previous owner unlocked it, but it was just 1 week old. So my guess is, he didn't asked T-Mobile for unlock code, but rather used some online services. Also, I'm unable to update my s5 via OTA and Kies method. While trying to update via OTA method, the following error message pops up:
"The operating system on your device has been modified in an unauthorized way. Try downloading software updates using Samsung Kies on your PC, or visit a customer service center."
And while trying to update it via Kies, it simply fails with a error message.
So my question is, while upgrading my s5 (to android 5.0) via Odin method, will I loose my sim unlock? Will it revert back to being region locked and I would have to purchase an unlock code?
Thank you.

It does not update via OTA because it's rooted. If he used the network unlock code then is should be safe to upgrade via Odin. If it's properly network unlocked it's very hard to lock it again. Rooting and flashing will not affect that.
Also, you can unroot (search the thread on rooting to see how to unroot) the phone and then it should successfully update via OTA.
Plus, if you have the contact info from the original owner you might be able to get him to send you the unlock codes. That way you would have them.

Oh! I see. Thanks for the info, but I'm not sure how he unlocked it.
I'm no longer in contact with him. I sent him couple of messages inquiring about the same about a month ago, but he hasn't replied me since.
I tried unrooting the phone, but it had no effects. I was getting the same error message.
BTW, I used "Kingo Android root" software to unroot it. But since it didn't worked, I rooted it again using the same software.

It's not the OTA that I'm worried about. I'm worried about loosing my sim unlock.

I went ahead and flashed my phone anyway, and I'm happy to find out that I didn't lost my sim unlock.
Thank you for help guys.

how to install recovery on locked bootloader

So I bought a brand new z2 tablet for £250, but the only downside is that its locked to t-mobile so bootloader is locked.
I want to root my device, and so far I found that to root lollipop you need to downgrade to 4.4.2 root using towelroot then udate via recovery with pre rooted rom. My only issue is that I am unable to find any instructions on how to install recovery without using the bootloader.
On my xperia Z I was able to install it through actuall phone, but for the tablet seems like the only way is through bootloader?
Can someone please help me out, perhaps im not looking in right place.
