Hello
I am attempting to flash my Xperia Z ultra sol24 variant for the first time. However I am running into problems and cannot seem to make any progress.
Ultimately, the goal is to root the device, unlock the sim carrier (au_kiddy) and flash the device to the c6833 Global rom, whilst keeping the 32gb internal storage that this latest variant (sol24 Japan only) comes with.
I am following the guide here (Its in three steps):
http://tealic.blog.shinobi.jp/Entry/1663/
http://tealic.blog.shinobi.jp/Entry/1664/
http://tealic.blog.shinobi.jp/Entry/1665/
Firstly (http://tealic.blog.shinobi.jp/Entry/1663) I was told to backup and make a ftf backup using the sony PC companion and flashtool which I have done. The ftf file I had created is SOL24_14.3.C.0.239_au_KDDI.ftf
Then after doing so, the guide says to download the android SDK and adt bundle, then download the latest xperiaRootkit (rootkitXperia_20140719.zip) and extract the rootkit to platform tools folder of SDK and connect my XU to the pc using usb debugging the run the bat which will essentially root my device.
After doing so I downloaded the SuperSU app and finished the root.
I was then told to download the two files from (http://htcsoku.info/htcsokudev/rudimentary-knowledge/sol24-globaledition-rom/)
SOL24_Xperia_Z_Ultra_GlobalEdition_1.20.973.4.zip
SOL24_Xperia_Z_Ultra_GlobalEdition_Baseband.ftf
And place the GlobalEdition_1.20.973.4.zip onto my SD card, then using the XZU&Z1recoveryv4Windows tool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45149758#post45149758) boot into CWM mode and install the zip.
That is where my problems started, and upon installing the SOL24_Xperia_Z_Ultra_GlobalEdition_1.20.973.4.zip I selected the "reboot" option and upon reboot, it was stuck at the SONY logo and the phone would not boot any further.
I hard reset the XU and tried using the flashtool to flash SOL24_Xperia_Z_Ultra_GlobalEdition_Baseband.ftf as that is the next step in the guide, however the device was still stuck at the sony logo. So I attempted to flash my pre-made SOL24_14.3.C.0.239_au_KDDI.ftf file back to the device, which worked, but took me back to where I had started.
I am trying to redo the steps above but I am getting an error, I have re-installed the XZU&Z1 recovery v4 Windows tool to the device, command promt says that "Installing has finished" however my XU did not automatically restart and boot into CWM (Similar to the first time I installed it), and I cannot enter CWM mode on startup via manually shutting down and restarting. (The phone does not vibrate, nor does the green led appear) it just skips straight to the xperia logo and boots.
Is it possible that I have somehow flashed my pre-made SOL24_14.3.C.0.239 ftf incorrectly? As the CWM tool was working originally.
There are three columns, "Wipe" "Exclude" and "MiscTA exclude" on the side of the flashtool that I have played around with, however after flashing a few times and going through the steps I'm still unable to get the CWM tool to work, and am ultimately stuck at the moment.
I feel this can be easily resolved, however I am not sure which ftf to download or even how to properly flash the ftf(What do I need to exclude from the ftf flash?)
Can I please request some assistance?
Edit: I attempted installing the XZU&Z1 recovery v4 tool whilst the phone was off this time, and it was a success, it seems the CWM tool is now working properly. I will attempt to re-flash the global rom now.
Edit: After installing SOL24_Xperia_Z_Ultra_GlobalEdition_1.20.973.4.zip via CWM I am stuck at the SONY logo on boot again.

I had just attempted to flash the older 14.1.K.1.217_KDDI ftf (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=62877990) version however kept running into the "adb server is out of date. killing... " error using the flashtool.
As you mentioned, the blog poster had actually uploaded his own ftf which was a later 14.1.K.3.95 version, but still earlier then my original one.
So after downloading and flashing that, it seems like there are no longer any problems when attempting to install that global rom zip via CWM.
As of now I am awaiting the unlock code.
Additionally nabendu1 or any other poster, would you perhaps be able to tell me what the different check boxes in the "Wipe" "Exclude" and "Misc" section of the flash tool are generally used for? The blog post says to simply check and exclude everything when I am ready to flash the c6833 ftf, however if I were to check and exclude everything, will I not lose all features of the latest c6833 firmware?

Wipe menu on the right side indicates what u want to wipe before flashing. Wipe data/apps clears the data on the phone [ I don't know for sure if it only wipes the apps or app+ data( like photos etc ]. Wipe cache wipes the cache and don't know what's appslog but always during flashing wipe cache and appslog wiping data is optional .
Exclude means not flashing the entire firmware. For eg u can flash everthing except the recovery using exclude and ticking recovery or bootloader or kernel etc etc. Don't Exclude anything except mentioned somewhere or u know what ur doing. Misc I don't remember the menu but it's not used to generally flash ftf

I have checked all the FTF files I presently have, and none of them have a "Wipe - cache" checkbox. However there is an "Exclude - cache" checkbox

Wiping cache means clearing ur cache partition data. Wipe cache is not a file in ur ftf it is a process. exclude cache means exclude flashing of the cache partition from the ftf.
If u still don't get check Xperia blog post on how to use flashtool to flash ftf and dld firmware from xperifirm http://www.xperiablog.net/2015/03/1...peria-lollipop-using-xperifirm-and-flashtool/

Hello,
First I want to thank all xda-developers for their work!
They do even better work then the providers!
Question 1:
Well my question is that I want to flash my SE Xperia X10 Mini.
I already unlocked the bootloader with the following guide:
Link 1: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254225
Although now I want to flash the kernel.
In the thread (link 1) stands how to flash the kernel.
But also in the following thread of the ROM that I want to install after worths:
Link 2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1068553
Link 1 says that I don't must flash any .sin files.
Although link 2 says I need to flash the kernel.sin and the loader.sin.
This getting me confused, now I don't know what I need to follow?
Question 2:
Also at the link 1 it talks about a .ftf file that I can't find.
Where can I find that?
Question 3:
In link 2 when i download the ROM I get a file called "A MiniCM7-2.1.1_nAa-kernel02.7z".
So it says it got a kernel inside (I guess thats the .ftf file) but I can't find it inside it.
Anybody knows where I could find that?
Thanks in advance.
Greetz,
Jan2426
I think you have wrong link to get custom kernel, find here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1256739 see instal guide, there the link kernel ftf file.
Before flash that kernel you must flash the ROM in Link 2.
to flash custom kernel you must download ftf file if you had zip, extract and you will get ftf and put that in folder flashtool/firmware, and you can see there 2 file.sin in there from flashtool.
If i can help you don't forget to press thanks button.
Thanks for your quick response!
U helped me to the right direction already.
Although i still have a question left.
Question 1:
To flash the ROM I just need to copy it to the root of the SD-card?
Thanks in advance.
Greetz,
Jan2426
Copy Rom ( *.zip) to the SD Card ,
in the ClockworkMod choose option
- install zip from sdcard then
- choose zip from sdcard then
find file with ROM and apply
VOILA
of course I assume that you have ClockworworkMod installed

Yes,
1. Copy ROM to sd card
2. boot in CWM recovery
3. Wipe Data/factory reset
4. wipe cache partition
5. advance>wipe dalvik cache
6. instal zip from sd card and chose ROM.
don,t forget to backup your file first.
and now you can flash the kernel.
Thanks both for your answers.
Yes I installed ROM manager.
Although stiv8785 you say I first need to follow these steps and then flash:
1. Copy ROM to sd card
2. boot in CWM recovery
3. Wipe Data/factory reset
4. wipe cache partition
5. advance>wipe dalvik cache
6. instal zip from sd card and chose ROM.

Although I first need to flash kernel and then follow those steps.
Just like it stands in the other guides.
Although I already copy the ROM to SD card.
Please note me when I am wrong.
Both a big thanks again for your quick response.

EDIT:
At the moment I wanted to flash my phone I am still confused (sorry guys for my slow understanding).
To flash it by this following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1256739
He says:
Flash the kernel via Flashtool
Click to collapse
Although that gives me to less details how to flash is correctly.
On the following link there is more details about it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1068553
He says:
Flash the nAa kernel using Flashtool. To to this:
- Turn off your phone
- Start the Flashtool\X10FlashTool.exe and select Flash. Then select the E10_nAaxxx kernel firmware (this flashes both the kernel.sin and the loader.sin)
- Keep the back button pressed while connecting the usb cable. Flashtool should detect your phone and flash the kernel.
- Once done, disconnect the usb cable and power on the phone.
Click to collapse
And the following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254225
Says this:
Generally you have to delete all the files in /system/lib/modules before flashing a custom kernel!
c. Put the (kernel name).ftf file in the /firmwares folder. (Don't flash any .sin files, flash only the .ftf file.)
d. Open Flashtool.
e. Click Flash.
f. Select (kernel name).ftf.
g. Turn off your phone.
h. Connect your phone in flash mode (only when the popup window prompts for you to do so). (To boot into flash mode, press and hold back button while connecting your phone to the PC using an usb cable).
i. Disconnect your phone (do so only when the popup window to prompts you to disconnect your phone).
j. Reboot and you have a custom kernel!
k. Confirm by going to Settings --> About Phone --> Kernel version. It should have the name of the kernel you flashed.
m. To flash back to stock kernel, download the appropriate file below and follow steps listed above.

Which one is the best to follow for my SE Xperia X10 Mini (E10i)?
Steps I already have taken:
1. Unlock the bootloader.
2. Install FlashTool v0.2.9.1 beta.
3. Put the .ftf file into the following folder: /firmwares.
4. Put the custom ROM (the .zip file) into the root of my SD card.
So far all successful.
sorry, maybe because I use the Mini Pro not mini.
Please follow the instructions in the ROM thread, I think everything is clear.
and all the materials you prepare is correct, good luck
No problem
And thanks again I will follow that guide now.
I am charging my mobile now to 100% now before I start.
Although I installed ROM manager but didn't do anything with it yet.
Should I do something with it before flashing or?
I have totally no experience with the ROM manager.
Anybody could give a short guide how to use the ROM manager and where it's good for?
I am sorry I keep asking questions but I am a bit nervous about flashing my mobile.
I don't want to brick it hehe
EDIT:
Do I need to delete all files in "/system/lib/modules" before flashing?
There is only the following items in it:
sdio.ko
tiwlan_drv.ko

Have you installed the Recovery CWM?
You don't need ROM manager.
No need to remove the module, if the ROM is compatible with a custom kernel.
At this following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1068553
or:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254225
Stands nothing from Recovery CWM.
Do I then still need to install it?
Also if I need to do I need to install it before or after flashing the kernel?
Or is it included by flashing the kernel?
EDIT:
I notice that I keep getting in a circle of keep asking questions.
I will try to break this circle with the following.
Tell me how far it's done:
- Good.
- Bad.
- What else need to be done.
- What need to be changed.
I'm sorry that I keep asking these questions, but like I said before I am getting bit nervous about flashing my phone.
Although I want to do it because SE stopped with giving us updates and I am stuck with 2.1-update1
Step 1: Root phone (done successful).
Step 2: Unlock bootloader (done successful).
Step 3: Flash kernel (not done).
Step 3a: Turn off your phone
Step 3b: Start the Flashtool\X10FlashTool.exe and select Flash. Then select the E10_nAaxxx kernel firmware (this flashes both the kernel.sin and the loader.sin)
Step 3c: Keep the back button pressed while connecting the usb cable. Flashtool should detect your phone and flash the kernel.
Step 3e: Once done, disconnect the usb cable and power on the phone.
Step 4: Install Recovery CWM (not done).
Step 4a: Don't know what to do here?
Do i need to install it actually?
NOTE:I also heard something about Busybox, but I don't know much about that either and is it needed?
Short explanation about the colors:
Green: done successful
Orange: I think it's the right way to do not sure and not done.
Red: I am confused and don't know what to do.
Thanks in advance.
Greetz,
Jan2426
GOOD
Make sure has been successful flash custom kernel:
go to settings> about phone and see if the kernel version is 2.6.29 SEMCUser @ SEMCHost # 1 you have not succeeded. but if his version is compatible with the kernel name or initials, you've managed to flash a custom kernel.
I read the thread nAa kernel, CWM recovery already in the kernel. to be sure reboot the phone, wait a moment will live on and the screen appeared an image or text first on press back button. iff you in to the recovery menu (for navigation, home to select).
please proceed to the next step in ROM instalation guide.
So I can untill ROM manager and busybox from my mobile?
They are not needed?

i erased sd card as was advised and repeated with no joy,ive done this about 10 times now.

if your phone has been root, you don't need busybox. because it's already installed on the phone when in root. (I assume if your phone already in root)
ROM manager i think it, s optional.

repair again, use SE Update Service.
if you,ve same problem, i think something wrong with your phone.
bring it tu SE Service Center.
stiv8785 once thanks again! (I pressed every thanks button at every post of yours )
So I unstalled dropbox.
I guess I will keep ROM manager on my phone for now.
Although I got one last question (I hope ).
How do I backup my ROM that I use now (the standard thats on every SE X10 Mini)?
So if something goes wrong that I still got a backup.

Congratulations, I'm sorry too late to respond.
2 days ago I've tried to flash a ROM on my Live WT19i: i've unlocked the bootloader, rooted the phone, installed CWM recovery and then flashed the RC3 Android 4.0 ROM. I haven't flashed the custom kernel suggested in the thread of the rom, so now my phone is stuck at SE logo every time I switch it on.
As i've read in another thread, i've downloaded flashtool and tried to flash the kernel on, but it says that "the phone is not rooted".
So i've tried to flash the original firmware (.58, i have never upgrade it up to .62) and then i'm going to re-flash the ROM(this time being more careful to follow all the steps), but when I try to flash the firmware on, Flashtools says that "the drivers are not installed, you can find them in the drivers folder of flashtool". Over there ther's only an EXE file, but the situation isn't changed.
Now: Where can I download this drivers? But expecially, what I have to do to make my phone came on again?
THANKS TO EVERYONE IS GOING TO ANSWERING ME
(In other threads I have found something similar, but not really useful for my problem, so please don't tell me that there is always a thread for this, thanks)
try this the tool posted at this thread.
this thread also has a download link for all the drivers you will need.
have used this myself for unlocking bootloader and flashing kernels.
after you flash the kernel for the ICS rom,
boot to cwm, then install ICS rom again.
dont forget to wipe data and clear cache and dalvik before installing new rom.

The problem is that flashtool (and even this tool you have suggest to me) says "FAILED (remote: The Device must be rooted first)" when I try to install the kernel on. Is for that reason that i've thinked to flash the original firmware on and then re-root the phone!
What do you think about this? Thanks.

According to me, kernel installation requires only unlocked bootloader and having phone in fastboot mode. Root is not needed, because kernel doesn't use ROM files at all.
Hello, I have a mini pro, and just get the ICS via Pccompanion, I never unlock my boatloarder or rooted my phone even when i had GB but now I wanted to wipe all cache(Dalvik, ..) Is it possible ? If yes .. How ?
Thanks

Yes. I think a factory reset would do. Or else try this method. I dont know if there's a simpler way to do it
Download the flash tool from here:
http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool/
You'll find it in the installation tab.
Download the ICS firmware for your phone from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27013445#post27013445
Follow these steps:
1.Install Flashtool.
2.Place downloaded firmware file(.ftf format) in Flashtool\firmwares(by default C:\Program Files\Flashtool) folder.
3.Start Flashtool.
4.Click the lightning button and choose Flashmode.
5.Firmware should appear there, if you have it in correct folder. Choose it.
6.Now on the right pane, Untick wipe data. (Keep wipe cache ticked).
7.Tick all options under the exclude section. (Tick exclude Fota, exclude system, exclude kernel and exclude baseband)
8.Turn off your phone, connect USB cable to computer, then while pressing Volume Down button, connect USB cable to your phone.
Flashtool should detect your phone and starts flashing. Follow the instructions.
When it says "Flashing completed", unplug your phone and turn it on.
Thats it
Can i do this without unlocking my Bootloader ? I don't want to root or flash a custom rom, just want my phone back as i just bough it from the shop .. Maybe downgrade to GB 2.3.4 .62 ?
Hi Everyone,
I am using Xperia Neo. My friend helped me in installing custom ics rom from unlocking bootloader step to installing a custom rom.
Now i tried to install a custom rom, but it didnt work even though i followed the right steps.
Now when i tried to switch to the old rom it gives a status 7 error (similar one to this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1805631&highlight=status+7)
From the above thread i got the following steps
Simply flash an official ROM (.ftf) with Flashtool in Flashmode mode;
Flash a correct Kernel (extract it from Cyanogen rom zip, boot.img usually) with Flashtool in Fastboot mode;
Enter recovery CMW;
Perform a full wipe factory reset, and cache wipe nextly;
Finish with applying custom ROM by CWM;
Can someone help me with the first step
Simply flash an official ROM (.ftf) with Flashtool in Flashmode mode;
Is there a thread which has these steps?
Currently I am on a custom kernel and not on the base kernel will that create any problem in doing the first step?
Please help me on this. I am just a beginner.
Thanks in Advance.

Flashing a .ftf in this case implies that you have to flash just the baseband version. u must have flashed the complete firmware. while flashing new baseband you must exclude the kernel. the .ftf file has to be placed in the C:\Flashtool\firmwares directory. also u have not wiped the Dalvik cache.....
Get the ICS Stock rom from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1678690
Flash it via Flashtool with stock kernel.
This will flash your phone to Stock rom.
I have installed the latest flash tool and i have also downloaded the Stock Rom.
Now the problem is the device not getting detected, i tried connecting the device to PC while it is in recovery mode and also when it is inside the OS. It is only getting at a point of time when it OS loads and then it again goes undetected. So I am not able to flash the stock rom. I have also installed the ADB drivers from flash tool.
What can I do now? Please help me out...

Maybe u should check first your phone led if there's red light blinking means you are out of battery. Try to charge ur batt. for several hours or just borrow an full charged batt. from ur friend and flash it using flash tool or SUS.

Help me..
Can not reboot into CWM..
I just reflash my phone, and then root it with the way that I usually use..
But today when I try to root it, I mean on progress by using DooMLoRD_v1_Xperia-2011 my computer reboot and after boot complete a prompt appears that said "Windows has just recovered from serious error" and give an option "send an error report" or "don't send"
After that, re-root it by using the same way and then install the CWM with install-cwm1.cmd(it also I usually use). It run normally, I think everything was OK.
But when I try to boot into CWM it get stuck on the "SONY" logo.
What is going wrong?
I have try to re-flash again, re-root and re-install the CWM still does not work
I think maybe there was a problem with the permission so I attached screenshot of the root and /system
*I have search before posting but can't find the answer

When you flashed the ROM, did you reset to factory settings and wipe away everything?
Doing so might have wiped the recovery too. There is nothing to worry about thou.
I am not sure whether you will be willing to do so, but I would suggest you unlock your boot loader and flash a kernel with built in recovery. A sample of that will be the FreeXperiaProject (FXP) CynogenMod (CM) 10 ROM's kernel. (search for "FXP 144 CM 10")
If you haven't flashed a kernel before, I can elaborate on the procedure or you can look it up on some other threads where it is already explained.

I flash it using SEUS, and I know it will wipe every mod on the system. I have do it several times.
I will explain the way that I usually did. Flash using SEUS -> Power off -> Flash kernel to MT11i 562(if I not wrong, i forget the number) using Flashtool -> Power on-> Root it using DooMLoRD rooting toolkit -> Power off -> Flash back to stock .587 kernel using flashtool -> Power on -> Install CWM by using the install-cwm1.cmd then reboot to recovery..
I get stuck on SONY logo just for now. I think it caused by the windows error that happened when I root it..
I also try X-parts but it does not affect anything. The LED does not show when boot, also nothing happened when I press any button during boot. Also it look like does not touch or add any file to the /system
have u repair with SEUS?
or maybe try flash FTF file with flashtool
reflash with SEUS
re-download root toolkit and CWM installer
disable your antivirus (if you have it)
try again
if it fails, post the logs of root and CWM install process..

I will post the log, btw where can I find the logs file of root and CWM install process?

Fisrtly you have to root by flashing 652 kernel from flashtool.. Then you get root accessand now you can cwm recovery..
Sent from my MT11i
Yeah, of course you will need neov ics kernel to get root, then flash back original ics kernel. I've suffered a lot of problems with root and cwm, so:
-flashtool: be sure ho have max one firmware in "firmwares" folder at once, then be sure to check the right boxes on the right.
-rooting toolkit: disable internet connection, disable antivirus and firewall (maybe also "User control" in vista-7). Extract "runme.bat" and "files" folder directly into root directory in your PC (it is where you find "windows", "program files"...). So enlarge the explorer windows because it needs to be "on background sight", then open "runme.bat".
-cwm: use the android application "cwm-auto-installer" which is the previous version of "X-parts", you can find it in pureness 13 add-on page. There are many cwm installer which doesn't work, I don't know why.

Yes, I have the MT15i kernel .587, MT11i .562 and MT15i .587 Global ftf..
Previously I always flashing, rooting, installing the CWM with the internet connection enabled, firewall enabled, antivirus enabled and everything work fine.
It just happened since I got my PC restarted when rooting and then the PC prompt "Windows has just recovered from serious error"

Search for pc app usbdeview and by this you can uninstall all usb drivers.. After that install drivers from flashtool connect your phone.. And root then flash cwm..
Try different types to reinstall drivers.. May be sometimes drivers get corrupt

Restart of the pc could be linked to driver faliure and the BSOD (the prompt) could be an hint about it.
For the cwm try to download that "cwm auto installer" from pureness page, but do not update the app. This is the only way that I have to install cwm.

Do you mean CWM Auto Installer now called X-parts? I also had try this, by using this it look like my /system partition not touched by it.. When reboot the LED does not show, also when on the SONY logo I press any key but nothing happens. It just boot like normally into system, does not get stuck nor get to the CWM.. Really nothing happened..
Btw will it have a problem with the hardware???
Ok, I remember one time when I wasn't able to install it at all. It was with JS 7.3, I had to give up and restore a fresh firmware (there were some other problems).
I don't think you have hardware problem, it seems that cwm can't be installed in your phone. So try to install ADB drivers again on PC, then flash new firmware, get root and retry.
Anyway there is a little possibility that cwm can't be installed because of low free space in /system partition...

Yes.. The main thing is adb drivers.. Uninstall it and reinstall.. Then everything should work.. Make sure you are on 652 kernel and rooted.. If you are rooted then xparts should work..
Try this flash alternet recovery from xparts and flash latest recovery..try it couple of times. Same problem I too faced earlier..do screen rotation off then install alternate recovery select 5.3 after flashing it says reboot to check.. And after it install latest recovery.. fingers cross..:sly:
