[Q] Xperia Ray ST18i - Extremally low brightness, almost pitch black. - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Hi guys, I got a problem with my Xperia Ray phone.
I left the phone to recharge for couple of hours, when I disconnected the cable, the phone was shut down, OR with so low brightness that I thought it was turned off. At that time I hadn't noticed screen showing anything.
I thought there was some problem with the battery so I tried to recharge it with universal battery charger [I just call it a frog]. After that when I tried to turn on the phone, I noticed very very dim "SONY" and after exclamation mark in red triangle. I decided that there was software problem, so I did phone repair procedure with Sony's PC Companion.
After that the phone works perfectly, the sound, touchscreen, everything, except the screen is so dim that It's only possible to see the text on extremely bright room, I know it's weird, it should be in reverse, but I can only see the display in well lit room. I have a theory that what I'm seeing is that anti sun-flare thing [obviously incorrect definition] which makes it possible to see clearly under the sun.
Oh and it says Safe Mode on the left bottom side, I think it's because the phone is without the SIM, maybe. I'm not sure.
Thank you guys in advance.
P.S. Here are some photos I managed to take:

I think you must go the after-sales service.

[Q] galaxy S3 dark scrren

My galaxy S3 is showing a very weird problem. I was using the phone and before reaching home the battery when completely flat. When I arrived home and plugged the phone to the wall charger the screen remains dark, black. Now the battery is full charged (green light) but the screen remains to the same estate. When someone calls me the phone rings. When I plug it to the computer I can see the files inside the different drives. I reinstalled the OS that is 4.3 but still same problem. I didn't drop the phone and It didn't have any shock.
That is weird. I am thinking of a dead screen but before going for a chirgucal operation on my beloved phone I wanted to ask if that couldn't be a software problem.
Happy to hear from your experiences.
Boot into download mode, volume down + home then power button. If the screen is dead in download then it is hardware.

never heard this type of problem
try to go into recovery and check if it displays anything
If successful do factory reset
In download mode i can see nothing. That is really weird. I am letting the battery drain completely and i will check. Thank you for your replies
I wanted to upgrade so far what i am getting. The screen while dark, black is reacting to touch actions: for exemple when i lock the phone with the power button i can hear the lock sound;when i unlock with the lide action on the screen, I can hear the unlocking sound. I think that must be a weird system problem. If the screen was broken will it react to such touch actions?
Lide=slide. I can actually take a call with the slide action on the screen. When someone calls me i just have to slide my finder at the proper place on the screen to take the call. I need help please.
Most probably its the hardware. Your LED seems to be ditching you. And yes a bad led can still response to touch despite of being black all the way. Actually it's the digitizer that responds to the touch NOT the LED itself.
In your cas3 so far from your feedback I can say that you are having a bad LED everything else including the digitizer is working well.

Thank you i w
ill try it check it tomorrow. I will try to install another firmware, may be 4.0.4. The one i was using i just installed it 2 days ago.

Out of nowhere, the red LED is always on, screen dimmed, don't know how to undo it

For whatever reason, last night, my phone started acting as if the battery was low but even at 100%. My screen is dimmed, the red LED is always on, and restarting doesn't seem to help. Anyone seen this, know what the heck I can do to fix it?
Other tidbits of information:
The red LED is only on when the screen is on. If the screen is shut down or another LED notification is shown, the red LED turns off for that brief time
Activating Stamina mode *further* decreases the brightness.
The unit is dim when first being powered on, through the boot screen, etc
It happened last night while charging my phone. It was quite hot for a little bit and then dimness
maybe trying a factory reset
do you install any app that dim the screen?
I did try to factory reset, but to no avail. As I mentioned, it's dim when it's first booting, so I don't think it's software.

Next step is to do a software repair via Xperia companion if it's still the same after that it'll probably need to go to a Sony service center..

I assume this phone is dead, am I right?

Ok so, I had the "bright" (stupid) idea to get an unused Z5 Compact online to replace mine which I have dropped about 24 times.
Unfortunately not long after I got the newer one, I dropped it and the screen cracked. Looooong story short, the screen is okay now, but whether it was in the fall or in the stupid shop, it doesn't charge properly.
However, rather than just getting a red blinking light, what I see is: red solid light, then the "Sony XPERIA" screen with white background will appear, but the power light will turn off, and then it will revert to the battery charge screen where the battery is at 0%.
I am nooooot technical so if the probably solution is replacing the charge port I feel like maybe I should just get another phone. Is that the right step now or am I jumping the gun?
