Wiped my OS :/ - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

didint know where to post this but yeah move if you need.
So i rooted my phone and in TWRP i thought i was factory resetting and i wiped EVERYTHING including my OS.
Like the mong i am i didnt backup at all. I'm on an S6 edge, SM-G925F and its just stuck on the Samsung galaxy s6 edge screen.
I've tried flashing in odin but i just get an error at the very last bit on hidden.img FAIL!
I've tried sideloading using ADB but i can no longer get into TWRP, only the recovery screen. When i could get into twrp when pushing the system.img (3.55GB) it just says fail protocol.
Someone please help! I'll pay $10 through paypal for who ever helps me!

Open the firmware with WinRar, and extract the file hidden.img and rename it hidden.img.tar. Now load that file into PDA and flash it. When you turn on the phone it will take a little time to boot up.

Need Help with a Softbricked Galaxy S3 i9300

Hi there,
I may have softbricked my i9300 S3 after failing to flash MIUI. I had the phone rooted already with custom recovery installed.
CWM 6.0.1.2. A friend recommended the recovery after he successfully installed it on his S3. I was running Android 4.1.2
so no Knox problems hopefully. I downloaded the latest MIUI rom for my phone directly from the official website and used the CWM
to try and flash it. My phone was already rooted at that stage and I had wiped cache and reset the phone prior to the flash attempt.
Unfortunately it gave me a Status 7 error. Even after I unrooted and rerooted my phone the error still remained. I read somewhere else
that this happens sometimes and so I edited the Updater-Script as suggested elsewhere and deleted the section pertaining to the
Verification process. I double checked I had the right ROM too and proceeded to wipe and flash again. It seemed to take and the phone
restarted and I was met with the MIUI language selection menu. However, when i tried to select English, the whole thing just froze and switched
off and restarted itself. But this time the screen went all weird and fuzzy and wouldnt boot back to MIUI interface. I tried to boot into recovery but with no luck. I have tried to reflash the recovery also with no luck. I have tried other versions of CWM alos without luck. Tried TWRP and also no luck. I have used both the 3.07 and the 1.85 version of ODIN with no luck. The flash would fail with either a PIT error or a COM port error. But I have all the necessary drivers installed. I have Kies but dont run it at the same time. The Emergency Firmware something also doesnt seem to work.
I have pictures of the various errors and such and can provide dropbox links if required
Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks!
Original Firmware
If I were you, I would go to Download Mode and Flash the Original Firmware from Samsung. Download it from the Sammobile Website and after you successfully installed it try it again.
Like Tkkg1994 said above download the Samsung firmware and use Odin to install it through download mode.
You were having a "Status 7" error when initially flashing miui because your CWM recovery was not the latest...download the latest cwm recovery (6.48.something not sure??) Then flash miui and hopefully you shouldn't have any problems.

Yes that's correct. Because of this I would do all things to get a normal S3 without root. That in download mode it shows Original and 0 flashs. Than I would download Philz latest Touch Recovery, clean to install a new rom, download the ROM again, maybe there is a fault, than install it again and root it later, not than.
Hope I could help
Thanks guys! I think that was the general consensus then. I'm trying to follow this guide here
http://unbrick.itcse.com/unbrick-soft-bricked-samsung-galaxy-s3-i9300/
But when I download the Original 4.1.2 ROMS they dont have all the mentioned csc files nor do they have any PIT files in them either.
The only file included in the ZIP was a MD5 file which i guess is the PDA file.
Regardless, I'll give it a go. I've found some newer CWM recoveries but they seem to be IMG files instead of ZIP or MD5.
Any idea how to convert it. I'm getting the file directly from the CWM ROM MANAGER website.
Thanks for all the help again!

If you like to download the latest Firmware form Samsung, than I have a link for you:

Thanks man but I live in Taiwan so selected Taiwan.
I downloaded this one
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=19112
and also another one but both did not have the PIT file.
When I try to use ODIN 3.09 it says fail due to THERE IS NO PIT PARTITION.
There is only one file thats supposed to be for PDA i guess.
I have tried older ODIN 1.85 too. NO PIT PARTITION ERROR
Help?

Extract the file inside the ZIP File. Than go to odin and on Odin3.09 select AP! Not PIT. This works!
Yes Sir Thanks but I was doing that before. When I unzip there is 2 files.
One is MD5 file and the other one is SS_DL.dll file
I loaded it in AP slot in ODIN 3.09 and ODIN 1.85
Still gives PIT Partition Error!
Is there any PIT file that I can use that wont brick my phone??
I really dont want to brick this phone!

You don't brike your phone this way. I never select the SS_DL.dll file. You just need the MD5 file and do this in AP. I do some research on that but it should work
Yes thanks man. Even Samsung Official readme says that I should do it that way but I still get PIT error when I load the .tar file in the zip.
If someone can link me a working .tar file with PIT as well I would greatly appreciate it!
Thank you all!

HTML:
https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/i9300/philz_touch_6.48.4-i9300.zip.md5/
After that try again with the md5 from Sammobile
Thanks man. That one failed too. Some kind of binary error. I tried numerous other versions from the site

Only the .tar ones load but when I start to flash it, the same PIT Partition error comes up.
I appreciate any and all help!

UPDATE
Turns out that my S3 had a faulty eMMC chip and had to have the chip and the motherboard replaced.
NOTE TO OWNERS OF 2012 MODEL I9300 GALAXY S3:
I did not know this before I had the problem but there is apparently an APP on the PLAY STORE called eMMC Brickbug App.
That will apparently check your eMMC status. Since I was not aware of this app beforehand I cannot say for sure if this app
does or does not work. However I previously owned and since gave away a 2013 late model Galaxy S3 which had no issues
whatsoever. From all the details that I have read, it seems that most 2012 models of the i9300 are more susceptible to this kind
of problem. If you own a 2012 model please take extra care when flashing any type of software, even if its original from Samsung!
Finally thanks to all the Posters who have attempted to help me out. I'm sure that all of your suggestions would have fixed the issue had my
phone not been hard bricked in the first place.

[Q] Is this what's known as "bricked"?

A while ago my phone started to restart itself for no good reason. Then it got worse and it starts randomly resetting itself (factory reset). To solve this issue I tried to do a manual factory reset myself, and the problem persisted.
I can deal with these random restarts, but then one day as it restarts it got stuck at the "Samsung Galaxy S3" screen. I tried to do another factory reset in CWM and clear the cache, but it says "E:\cache\...." isn't mounted. As I investigate further it seems the reason that it can't boot might be because the memory is not mounted I guess?
I can boot into Download mode and CWM perfectly fine, so I decided to try to flash the Stock Recovery and Stock ROM through Odin. Connection between Odin and the phone was set up fine, but then it stopped at this error message "Complete(Write) operation failed." Flashing either stock rom and recovery yields the same error . It simply can't write to the memory it seems.
Now I'm stuck at this start screen. I've heard flashing a PIT file might be able to fix it, but I have no idea what that is.
Is the phone bricked? How do I fix this? Should I use the Rescue Firmware in this post? It would be great if anyone can help me since I have been asking for help on other forums but got absolutely no response...
GT-i9300
If you can boot to download mode you can try to use the rescue firmware. No, it isn't bricked because it still works
Thanks for the response! I'm going to try the rescue firmware, but I see that it says "KOR" on the file name. Is that referring to "Korea"? My phone isn't bought in Korea does that matter? Also what's the CSC thing it's talking about?
Your description matches emmc corruption/failure, so it is a software brick.
Follow the guide for the rescue firmware it doesn't matter about the country or CSC, but make sure you include the pit file.
If that fails to flash then it's time for a new phone.

There are two versions in the rescue firmware page 4.1.2 and 4.3 the pit file is in the 4.1.2 version and can be used on both.
Now I tried to flash them with Odin 3.07, it doesn't fail nor success. Instead it got stuck at "Get PIT for mapping.." I read that this might be a driver problem, but I've reinstalled my drivers, and I even tried all the usb ports on my computer. I've terminated Kies' process, but it's still not working!
What should I do to get Odin to write onto the device???

It won't write for a reason, the emmc chip is damaged.

You can NOT flash sammobile .md5 firmware through twrp.
Download the firmware. Unpack the zip. Then use 7zip or something to unpack the AP file or if it's one file unpack the .md5 file. Delete the hidden.img file. Repack the firmware and flash again through odin.

Galaxy S6 Edge SM-G925F Bricked. No Recovery, only download mode. Pls Help!

Hello friends, im new to the S6 forum. A fer days back i bought a used S6 Edge from ebay for very cheap. The phone had "software issues" according to the seller. I tought that it would not be so difficult to just download the correct firmware for it and flash it with ODIN, but it seems that it will be a little more complicated than that.
When i turn on the phone, it shoes the samsung s6 edge splash screen and then turns of and on again in a bootloop. When i try to access recovery mode by presing vol up + home + power nothing happens. I only have access to download mode. First i tried flashing arecovery into it, the ODIN process completed succesfully but I still cannot access recovery. I then tried to flash a firmware with ODIN and the process failed from the start. I got a NAND START WRITE FAILED message.
So at this point I really dont know what else to try. I have some sort of experience with LG and HTC phones but not so much with samsung, but if someone can point me on the right direction I think that i will be able to do it. Any help and ideas would be really apreciated!
BTW my S6 Edge is the emerald green version. Ive seen that the color matters somehow...?

I had the same problem a few weeks ago and I just couldn't find an answer so I had to kind of figure it out myself, I'm going to try to help you as much as I can, Well Apparently you have the g925f so go here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...p-recovery-2-8-7-1-g925f-android-5-1-t3144866
And download the twrp and flash it with Odin, you should be able to flash it without any problem unlike the firmware, when you're done,* you should be able to enter the recovery mode ( vol up + home + power ) Then try factory reset, And it should boot now, If it does, download this rom ( i recommend it because it's really light and it gets you out of trouble as it did to me )
xtrestolite (http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...xtrestolite-deodexed-mod-edition-1-3-t3119968)
Then flash it with twrp again and everything should be working now
Pd: If for some reason it gets stuck on the setup wizard dont do anything and download the rom from a computer and transfer the file, since you can actually transfer files in the setup wizard. Then install it.

Hi I need help with my s6 edge 64Gb SM-G925F / G925FXXU5EQH6 S/N RF8G60B9LJT from new unlocked but I am on the UK 3 network.
I never messed with my phone, I got an updated in the background and it crashed.
I could not reboot. It crashed during clear cash, restore factory settings and smart switch.
I took it into Samsung store they reset it, but it is still restarting after a short time.
I took it back and they say it was rooted or messed with. yes by a bad update and so out of warranty now by magic.
I have no choice but to root using odin 3.12.7 and 3.12 using sammobile G925FXXU5EQH6 image
it does not work either.
I think the partition table is messed up as I tried ZEROLTE_EUR_OPEN.pit and SM-G925F H3G pit from sammobile
Still, no luck getting this to unbrick.
Please help and advice
Kind regards David

You cannot change between csc and home_csc. It's just some firmwares come as 5 separate files. In your case just flash the .md5 firmware through AP in Odin.

If it gets stuck on the 3 logo for a while. Just leave it to boot it can take up to 20 minutes.
Or boot to recovery and wipe data/ cache
If that don't work flash the firmware again along with this pit file

Hi everybody,
Yesterday I decided I wanted to root my S6 Edge phone (SM-G925F, International Version) and flash a custom ROM onto it. I managed to root it successfully and install a working version of TWRP.
I began installing the XtreStoLite Custom ROM onto my S6 Edge. Around the 10% mark of installation, my phone suddenly booted. I read online that I should boot back normally and install an app which reduces my CPU power or something like that, can't really remember. But when I tried to boot back normally, it was stuck in a boot loop with only the Samsung S6 Edge logo appearing.
During installing TWRP I bricked my phone a couple of times because I installed wrong versions of TWRP. I flashed a stock firmware a few times to get rid of the brick (a similar bootloop), which worked every time like a charm. So I figured that with this "Custom ROM bootloop", I can just flash the stock firmware, boot everything back and try again. But after flashing the previously so glamorously working stock FW, I was stuck in a bootloop way worse than before.
This time the phone starts, I get the S6 edge logo, I get a "installing software update" screen for about a millisecond and then a "no command" screen. After the latter, it repeats. Once repeated for - I don't know - a 1000 times, it boots into stock recovery.
I tried factory resetting, which only gets rid of "software update" and "no command" screens. The bootloop stays.
What do you suggest I do? Can I do anything? Could it possibly work with 'another' stock firmware file?
Thanks in advance :good:
Probably you end up with dm verify verification error, drk issue, try to flash back stock firmware using repartition and a pit file to see if will fix your issue
Thanks for the quick reply mate. Just to get this right, I don't want to mess anything else up: first, I download a new firmware from lets say, SamMobile. When flashing with Odin, I check the box re-partition. What do I do with the pit file? If I download the FW from SamMobile, I'm supposed to get a CSC file right? With the pit file inside of it? Will Odin recognize it just like that (from the CSC file)?
you must download pit file and add in pit file, depending on your csc code of firmware you want to flash search that pit file on google
Okay, thanks. I googled and found this website: droidviews.com/download-pit-files-for-galaxy-s6-edge-all-models/
You figure I could just use a pit file downloaded from there? Or should I worry about 32GB / 64 GB pit files?
Also found this website: sammobile.com/forum/showthread.php?t=30136
It has an "SM-G925F OXA multi CSC ( BTU CPW DBT ITV KOR NEE XEF XEO XEU )" pit file. My S6 Edge is NEE region marked. Is this any better than the 'droidviews' one? Is it possible to tell or are they one and the same?

You need this firmware
http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=85560321743B11E7963AFA163EE8F90B
And this pit file

Or just try to flash your original firmware
Ok so, I flashed the FW callumbr1 suggested, with the required pit file. Something happened! The phone now boots from the S6 Edge screen all the way to the next screen, the one with 'Samsung' text on it. The logo keeps flashing, with it never going away. So still in bootloop, but a little different one.
What now? Thanks for all of the advice thus far!
Its working! Oh thank each and every God, but most of all you guys.
So the phone was stuck in the Samsung boot logo. I booted into recovery, wiped cache, no result. 2nd try, I boot to recovery, do a factory reset, and it SEEMED like it was still in boot loop, with the logo flashing. I went to take a leak and my God, that leak turned out to be a leak of faith. I came back and the phone had booted. Now it seems to work normally.
Thank you so much!

It's because the glowing Samsung logo is not actually a bootloop.
It's just on that logo while the phone builds the firmware. Usually takes about 10-20 minutes on that logo screen. Glad I could help and it's all working :good: thanks the posts if you can
Is your s6 edge bootloader unlocked? If so, how?
I am unable to load TWRP as my bootloader is locked, and can't find a solution anywhere. Any pointers?

I'm in the exact same situation as the OP,with the exception that i cant even get to recovery
(I got the phone in that situation tbh so i dunno what happened)
I tried to flash the firmware and the pit file you provided but i got a cm.img error and binary error device 5 binary 4.
So i guess device had newer os installed.
I'm now trying to download(those sammob speed limits ) the newest btu file my question is the pit file you provided is for every btu firmware or do i need another one?

Yes try the latest firmware.
The pit file will work for every btu firmware aslong as you have G925F. If it fails quote me and I'll try to help further

I've downloaded the latest BTU firmware with samfirm and flashed it along with the pit file
Again i got the updating screen which was already on 25% jumped to 32% and then got to erasing screen in which the refreshing icon froze.
I'm waiting for it to make something but nope.

See if you can manually boot to recovery. If so then wipe data and cache and reboot

Hold down and power until it completely reboots. As soon as it goes off switch to recovery combo and keep holding

Only check repartition if you flash a pit file. Don't select nand erase

Edit: Now stucked in galaxy s6 edge screen before samsung logo.
Edit 2 : Tried to access recovery, phone got again in system update screen and then stuck on erasing
rebooted then tried to access recovery again and got the no command screen again.
Edit 3 : After several attempts to access recovery it got me to the black screen before the wipe options of recovery appeared and phone hang up.
It has the following
No Support SINGLE-SKU
Supported API: 3
#MANUAL MODE v1.0.0#
Appling Multi-CSC
Applied The CSC Code :XEO
Succesfully applied multi-csc
Hum, just noticed in download mode that the device has on the reactivation lock.
Could that be one problem that i face?
