Charging port doesn't fit correctly - Nexus 9 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I have just received my Nexus 9 from Amazon.co.uk, the first thing I have done is connect the original charging cable to the micro usb port (After I have tried with other one). Then, I have noticed that the charging port doesn't fit correctly with any cable, I have tried with other ones with the same result. I think this looseness is not normal , so I need your opinion
I have recorded a little video to show you the problem
EDIT: Ops, XDA Forum doesn't let me to post links :crying:
Thanks a lot
P.D: Sorry for my english

The microUSB connector on my N9 fits snuggly, no looseness. Sounds like your connector is bad, return it. FYI - you can't post links, but you can post urls, just leave off the "http://www." or put spaces in parts of the URL so it gets posted as regular text.

Car Y charger for Tytn and Holux GPSlim240

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=320179
I asked this question a couple days back in a different section as have yet to get a response so I figured i'd be more specific here.
I require a car charger with 2 mini USB connectors to charge both my GPS and Hermes. Can anyone suggest a supplier please?
Do a ebay search for "car splitter" when i do i get about 31 results as im in australia.
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/12V-Car-Ciga...97QQihZ010QQcategoryZ6775QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I got one of these and have my 838 in one hole and my gpslim in the other. Works a treat.
Just watch out not to play bendies with the cord as mine is now playing up cause i bent it too far but otherwise it works great.
I've not seen a Y-Cable as such..
You can get a cigarette lighter adapter with 2 USB sockets coming out of it, that would do what you want as well.. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Dual-Port-USB...ryZ14968QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Is it what you are after?

Thanks
Thanks to Nick for ur reply but i'm trying to keep the amount of accessories I carry with me down to a minimum so that isn't what I am after.
Thanks sam for ur suggestion, i had spotted one of those before making the post but it wasn't exactly what i was looking for.
Finally thanks very much butpatbut for that link. It meant i actually took the time to read the listing rather than just eliminating it but looking at the picture like I had been doing while trawling ebay before posting the question. It turns out that is exactly what i am after, problem solved.
Thanks again ppl.

You can find a mini-USB power Y cable here:
http://pc-mobile.net/dcadapter.htm
While it will work with Holux, it will not work with Tytn unless you add the mini-USB intelligent power adapter.
Does anybody know if this solution is going to work:
http://www.buygpsnow.com/universal-...dell-x51v-etc-charging-tip-available-856.aspx
They have an optional mini USB tip (p/n DC-S100) that can be attached to the non-usb lead of power supply. Thus we are going to have a dual power adapter with 2 mini usb leads. The only question: is this going to work with TyTn?

Auto Dock Mode Mod For Generic Cradle HTC Amaze

Adding a 47k ohms resistor between pin 4 and 5 on the micro usb connector on the cradle will make the dock mode activate automatically. If you have some soldering skills this is for you. The picture attached is for a fosmon brand. I also posted a video on youtube with the same title as this post.
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-B3ioX7oG3k&context=C358b7a4ADOEgsToPDskJh0S59K5qkSxEFpIO2RL_E

Try searching for waldypl on youtube. For some reason is not showing searching for the original title.
The youtube video is finally showing, just search the post title on youtube.
Enjoy!
Followed the tip and did a similar mod for the GSI dock (on Amazon) and it works like a champ.
The GSI dock is considerably less well engineered than the dock wperez2 posted and relies on hot glue to hold the connector in place.
So if you have one, its a doable mod, but be prepared to scrape a boat load of hot glue out to get the connector free in order to connect the resistor.
Additionally, this dock has a rat-tail USB cable and a micro usb plug for a power cable. You cannot use the the plug to connect with USB since it only has the power and ground wires connected. While you're in there routing around, its pretty straight forward to connect up the connector to the plug if you want.
Alright, might be a noob-ish question, but how did you figure out the hack? What is the underlying principle?
Thanks!

Micro USB Extender for Thick Cases in Docks

Has anyone come across some sort of micro USB extender/adapter that will allow those of us with thick cases to attach our phones to the stand up type phone docks??? I know they make them, for IPhones as that's what I used to charge mine nightly when I had the otterbox case on it...........

You would also think with being micro usb cables are so popular nowadays, they would make a simular micro-usb extension that can be used with phones like ours. I ve done a little searching and havent come up with anything as of yet but maybe all of us as a team can come up with a solution to where our notes will fit in a dock if they have a thick case on them also. I thought this this might work, but judging from the one review I kinda doubt it!

I too have been on the hunt too for what you describe. I'll post back with any results.

I dont rock a thick case but i assume the charging port in he case is too narrow for a micro usb, correct?
Why not dremel the plastic off the usc cable? Not completely off but Enough so it can fit easier.
Sent from a big ass phone
There is a little micro usb cable head (just the metal) sticking out of the dock just long enough for you to sit your phone on so you cant really dremel it. I don't reckon its that big a deal anyway I just pull the power cord (its also micro usb) from my dock and attach it directly to the phone when I want to charge it and that works, just kinda defeats the purpose of a dock though. You cant dremal around the bottom of the case either for the usb part of the dock to fit the phone because the phone sits flush in the dock so you'd have to dremel the entire bottom off the case.
So far I'd contact Lindy and Startech. Seems they do a lot of cables and adapters. What we are looking for is Micro B female to Micro B male. I find Mini female to Micro B and USB A female to Micro B..... Plenty of Micro B male ends but NONE with Micro B female. There is Micro B female to Apple 30-pin adapters but then you'd need an Apple 30-pin female back to Micro B male. So the adapter would be like 3" or more long.... :-(

We have what we need but in cable form. Maybe they can just make a plug instead of a cable?

I'm looking for something like this as well... Any of you have luck finding one yet?
edit:
after seeing this:
shop.htcpedia.com/htc-rezound-docking-station
add http :// to front and .html to end to view...Daggum post count limitation!
I found it on fleaBay under this listing:
"USB Battery Charger Cradle Dock Station AC Power Adapter For HTC Rezound 6425"
ebay.com/itm/USB-Battery-Charger-Cradle-Dock-Station-AC-Power-Adapter-For-HTC-Rezound-6425-/400280284281?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item5d32906c79
add http :// www dot to the front
so does anyone else wanna bite the bullet on this and see if it works? I likely would have ordered one had I saw it first but I just ordered an oem mt4gs one from another seller (about 5 min earlier) and will likely just trim/modify it w/a dremel instead, but the on above would prolly be easier starting point if it doesnt work outright...
The issue isn't always an extender. A case may also make the device not seat properly into the dock... too wide to fit, or too think to line up to the micro connector.
The BEST solution as well as one that isn't available, is the case needs to be able to charge wirelessly... ie, it becomes the wireless charger receiver and it plugs into either the micro connector or the wireless charger contacts.

Check the SGS3 forums. They are doing it using a Palm Touchstone and a PRE backplate. But Samsung should be releasing the actual kit for the SGS3 and the Note 2 has the contacts for the wireless back.
Sent from one bad ass, highly modified, Samsung Galaxy Note using the BEST in mobile apps, XDA-Developers!
I would check KVMSwitchTech. They offer quest a few USB Extender products for USB 1.1 ans 2.0 extensions.
Wow! Is there really still no solution for this problem?
I just got the standard dock last night, and it sucks that I have to remove the case every time, just because it's just barely not plugging in.
The droid Bionic with case fits perfectly in the dock, but the micr usb plug just doesn't make it all the way into connect.
I got this dock because I'm too lazy and didn't want to have to plug the micro usb cable in every time (well, AND because I like the idea of being able to have it sitting up all nice), and now, if I have to take the case off in order for it to work, I'm not gaining anything, and it's actually MORE work for me than if I just simply go back to plugging in the [email protected] cable.
PLEASE tell me that someone has found a little extender that we can put on there...
Has anyone tried using a Samsung Note II dock instead of the galaxy s3 dock for use with a thick case?
The width of the phone should no longer be a problem, just not sure if the depth will be OK so that the micro USB port aligns correctly with a case.
I have an Multimedia Dock EDD-S20EWEGSTD (for Galaxy Node II) and it NOT fits!
I hate this stupid product developers. They have no idea what "normal" people want/need. And out of touch with reality.
Its so easy to construct a Dockingstation with a flexible connector...
I´m angry....
I can´t use my S3LTE with my OTTER-CASE on my Dock.

In case you haven't noticed...
This thread is in the AT&T Galaxy Note i717, i.e. the first generation Galaxy Note.
So what that #3 isn't 11pin, our Notes only have a standard Micro USB, so that is of no concern to those of us who are watching the appropriate forums for our devices.
What about a GoDock?
I wouldn't mind one either, but I would also be curious to know if anyone has tried out the GoDock smart dock system with those thicker cases? I'm thinking of picking one up to try. (it's made so the phone sits landscape rather than vertical and has a cable to plug into the micro-usb rather than a fixed plug)

What people want is an adapter that can slip over the existing micro usb tip and extend it way out so you could use it basically like a syringe for mega huge cases and so on.

Well, sure, but micro usb cables seem to be fairly substitutable. And until someone actually comes up with such an adapter that is easily available, one could use what I suggested...
Micro-USB-Male-to-Micro-USB-Female-Dock-Extender-Extension on Ebay. I just purchased one. The adapter fits my thick case just fine.
I found micro USB cable with long connector at https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=me=A142DL1QTQEVX9&field-keywords=micro+usb+long+tip that fits for my thick case (chinese edition aha ha ha) perfectly instead of original one.
Hope my experience will help someone.

You've answered your question, the cable not original maybe is the problem.
Check the app Ampere on play store, and verify if charge current is greater than 1500+, if not search an cable provide this.
(sorry bad english )
Thank you for the reply.
Here is ampére screenshot
I dont know what is the original cable. I have like 10 cables. Can anyone post here a picture of cable connectors to try to identify it?
