Hey,
I followed (kinda) the guide for the 5.2.2u2 and keep root. Got excited and now forgot to flash a recovery, no recovery, Bootloader not unlocked. Not rooted
Did I just **** up my fire?
Thanks You!

I am very new to this and did something as my friend said, really stupid. I rooted my Evo LTE with the one click root method. This installed TWRP Recovery. After a few days I found a ROM I wanted to install. I installed ROM manager and along with this it installed Clockworkmod. I tried to install the rom from the zip I put on the root but clockwork opens up as my recovery instead of TWRP and does not run any commands. So after trying to get clockwordmod to work and couldn't... I decided to unroot phone and just re-root (yes very stupid). So after unrooting via SuperUser, I tried to install the RUU and it would'nt install as bootloader/recovery not work. I have no clue what to do
Are you running the ruu on your pc? It's not something you flash on your phone.

cwm recovery dont work on the evo LTE.. u have to flash the twrp 2.2.0 recovery.. yea the ruu is like a tool.. plug ya phone in and run it.. very easy

I am trying to install the RUU through my PC. But keeps getting error message that it failed right after trying to send to bootloader

I've been trying that and it keeps failing...
You have to relock your bootloader to run an ruu.

Try to flash TWRP again. If your able to do this then running a ruu is not nessary. As stated before clockworkmod recovery has problems on the Evo LTE.

Thank you thank you, I was able to relock the bootloader last night. Tonight I will try and reflash TWRP. This has been a good learning experience so far. At least i didn't brick the phone As the phone is no longer rooted do i need to root it as part of my flashing TWRP? The one click root method installs TWRP as part of the whole process.

You do not need to be rooted to flash a recovery but your bootloader needs to be unlocked. If your unlocking your bootloader using htcdev method then you don't need to be rooted. If your unlocking your bootloader using lazypanda method then you need root or temp root before you can run lazypanda.

Ok, I am having a little brain freeze. I am working on my wife's phone. I have gotten it unlocked, rooted and s-off. I believe it is still on the old firmware.
hboot-2.25.2525
radio-1.22.10.0421r
I want to get her on the latest firmware and on running Vigor360 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1852119
My mind has seemed to go blank on how to get there.
Thanks,
Brad
I was able to figure it out. After reading and reading and reading I decided that I would follow these instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1830859&highlight=ruu
I don't know if I did it right or if it was the long way but I still ended up where I wanted to be

Thanks. Weird thing was I lost recovery and it showed Tampered and Locked. So I went through the unlock process and fastboot AmonRa recovery again. But I now have my ROM of choice installed. SUCCESS

The RUU replaces your recovery with stock.
+1 to the guy above.
Running a ruu turns everything to stock including hboot and recovery.
How do I get the phone booting correctly?
what rom works every time?
Thanks
Stock. S-on, locked bootloader, unrooted, factory settings....
Edit: you've been a member of the site for 2.5yrs.... Judging by your posts you're not exactly a noob.
S-on, unlocked bootloader, with TWRP installed, root yes/no, Just need to get a rom installed and booted.
Is there some crazy way to get a rom to install and boot up correctly like all other phones?
I flashed the rom and it hangs on the boot screen of the rom.
I'm looking over some guides on what's the deal with S-ON.
If you can give some insight, that would be great.
Thanks
Take a look at the guide in my signature. It has info on flashing the ROM kernel separately when you're S-on.

hey guys.. i tried to install this rom, but realized the s-on feature was on. i went through the aroma installer and it just hung there. i forgot to preform the steps for s-on. i tried rumrunner but it didn't work. i need reference to get s-off and get back to stock. i can get into recovery with twrp. also my phone is unlocked. again it just stays in the htc logo screen. the rom was skydragon 6.0 now someone told me to side load it using adb but it doesn't do anything.. i have the rom downloaded to my PC,, can i flash the Boot.img? what do i need to do.. thanks a lot !
I believe it says in the OP that if you're s-on, you need to flash the boot.img.

You can still get into the bootloader menu but not recovery? Are you able to use fastboot commands? If so reflash recovery through fastboot and see if you can get into it. If so try to reflash the rom.
