Issues with Rom Flashing... "Install update.zip signature verification failed"
Hello
I am new in the World of Xiaomi and MIUI
I bought a Redmi Note 2 and it had the Oppomart MIUI-Version ist 66.77.33.00 (LHMCNCH)I Stable on it. I am a german user.
I found out that the Rom was not official and it contained useless apps and I couldnt use root either. So I wanted to flash different Roms. After some tries and researches I could flash an inofficial german Rom. But with that I couldnt use Xposed Installer so I wanted an original Rom. I flashed miui_HMNote2_5.10.15_8097474ec2_5.0. But that seems to be completely for chinese users. You can choose english language but there is no google account and no google apps. No play store, nothing. just chinese browsers, chinese apps and the MI Store completely in, guess what, chinese.
And now I cannot flash any Rom. I tried to go back to other Roms, like the german miuidecuro_REDMINOTE2_5.9.24_5.0 that i used before but nothing worked. I keep getting an error telling me "Install update.zip signature verification failed" I wiped all data, made a factory reset but nothing worked. I would even be happy to have the oppomart version back. It was annoying but had at least the playstore
Please help me
If you have any rom > 5.10.15 you can't flash previously roms.
Install TWRP or an old fastboot rom

Thanks. I never used TWRP. Do I have to download and install it on the phone as an apk file or on the Computer? Sorry I am new and when I google these things I only get more confused. What is the difference between the flashtools MiPhone2015731 and TWRP?
Is it possible to use Stock Android on the note 2 instead of MIUI?

Xioami has started to use licence or something for their roms. So multilanguage rom cant acceptable anymore on orginal system. Twrp is recovery mod for Android devices. Its very simple to install and use. And no you cant. Because nobody doesnt make any stable aosp or something rom. We are waiting.
mee to.
put rom file into internal sotrage, then update ok.
Visit TWRP by going to install and then there must be a hack because you have to do away
Ok. Is there a TWRP App for all phones or does it have to be for Redmi Note 2?
I download the apk, put it on the SD Card and install it from there, is that right? Can I flash the hermes rom from there for Europe?
I never did that so I really have no clue how to do that. The phone is nearly useless right now. I gotta fix this somehow. Thanks for everyone who helps

Hi.
Cant you install a rooted stock rom with stock recovery? Then you need the right TWRP for our phone.
Heres one place where you can find it. http://www.mediafire.com/download/6sf0fsm8vx2o948/twrp287.zip
First try flash it with Mi recovery.
If not you need to download an app from playstore "flashify" with it you flash TWRP. You need a img file so you may have to unzip the recovery.zip
I have flashed Xiaomi.EU 5.10.8 Weekly which is rock stable. You should flash Chainfires last Supersu and install Google Now Launcher if you like something more "stock" and have a appdrawer..
Thanks
Knievel
...
Ok thanks I will try that. A few hours ago I managed to flash the xiaomi.eu european version of the 5.10.15. Can I stll flash Roms with that?
Another problem is that I cannot use Xposed Installer and google now launcher. Is that normal?

ok good.
Then i would go to play store an download Flashify . Unzip the TWRP zip, and flash the recovery.img with flashify.
You can also backup kernel and recovery with this app. Its very easy and straight forward.
When you got flashed TWRP , use a file explorer with root privileges and delete the file "recovery-from-boot.bak" placed in System folder. If not you may loose TWRP after reboot.
TWRP is vital so you can make an nandroid backup of everything if/when something goes wrong. And of course flash everything else.
About Google Now Launcher, flash last Supersu zip from Chainfire in TWRP. Then you get permission to change default launcher.
I dont use Xposed for now so you have to Google it.
Only thing i miss is "Reboot to recovery" option, but a lot of apps can do this.
Thanks
Knievel
,,,
Ok thanks, I downloaded it. What exactly is the difference between Boot Image and Recovery Image?
Is there an AOSP Rom you can recommend? I really want to get rid of MIUI.

Hi.
Boot image here is kernel.
Im no big fan of Miui myself , but with the right launcher its quite ok.
I have tried a couple of the aosp roms here on Xda . Find them a little buggy, and battery life isnt very good either compared to Miui.
If/when Xiaomi release all needed sources, i think we will get good and stable Aosp and CM roms to flash too.
Thanks

Yes I don't like it either. But there are too many bugs in the Custom Roms. I just want a bug free Rom where I can use xposed

Just unzip the twrp zip. You can do it with a Root Explorer. Then you get a img file.
This img file you can flash with an app called Flazhify ( Google play Store, its free ).
Have you tried this?

Hi,
Can you please share a link for old fastboot rom for redmi note 2?
Thanks.
I finally flashed MIUI 6 via FASTBOOT.
After that I copy the international version from here: http://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/5-12-3-4.29098/
The "Update.zip Signature Verification Failed" problem was fixed - it did not check the signature.
Thank you all
Hi,
My phone came with 7.00.66 and it's not rooted. I tried to flash xiaomi eu roms via updater app, but it failed several times.
Also i tried to install twrp via updater app, but it also failed. Can you help me please. :crying:
I was thinking to do this:
1) flash official developer rom via updater app, and hopefully it won't show error, because it is official rom , and it is rooted (?)
2) flash twrp using this method
HOW TO FLASH TWRP RECOVERY VIA FLASHIFY
Warning: Redmi note 2 only (other phone need specific image)
Me and this forum are not responsable for any damage. Do at your own risk
1. download flashify app from playstore and give root acces
2. download img of twrp for redmi 2 note and put in your sd card (I prefer sdext root folder)
3. Open flashify, select "recovery image", find the img file you've downloaded
4. confirm flash, wait until it's done
5. you're now ready to reboot in twrp pressing "reboot now" from flashify.
you can also turn off your phone, press power and volume up and you'll be in twrp.
3) install xiaomi eu rom with twrp
Is this correct way?
I made this tutorial because i see no ZCX TWRP here..
In this TUTORIAL, we will update MIUI 7.2.24 to MIUI 7.3.2 using our beloved TWRP
Why this happened ?
You will fail to update OTA if :
1. You modified boot.img
2. You modified system's folder
3. You are using UNPATCHED TWRP
Getprop-Fingerprint's command in TWRP, will give you string :
Xiaomi/cm_land/land:6.0.1/MOB30M/e9c4629b61:eng/test-keys
Not your real Fingerprint.
If you unpack TWRP, you can see that string on default.prop
LETS BEGIN THIS TRICK
Requirements:
1. TWRP (Of Course)
2. OTA FLASHER by SILFOX
3. miui_HM3SGlobal_7.2.24_b21bbbf2e4_6.0.zip
4. miui-blockota-land_global-7.2.24-7.3.2-4b1c573f58-6.0.zip
Instructions :
1. Download all required Files
2. Install OTA FLASHER and open it.
3. Choose Flash OTA
4. Choose miui_HM3SGlobal_7.2.24_b21bbbf2e4_6.0.zip for Current MIUI ROM
5. Choose miui-blockota-land_global-7.2.24-7.3.2-4b1c573f58-6.0.zip for OTA
6. Choose START FLASH
7. Your device will goto TWRP, and do its magic
8. After finish, you can flash SuperSu or anything
9. After that, "Disable DM-Verify", and then Reboot...
Awesome love this Totally.
ok that got past the preliminary round, but now my recovery falsely reports that my system partition has unexpected contents, but i have a systemless root and was carefull not to mount that system partition.
by chance can we further edit the update-script to remove checks altogether?
also whats this patched twrp you speak of? does it skip this part by it self?
Great work. By the way can you create the patched twrp recovery like zcx recovery? It would be very helpful.
Thanks

If you patch twrp, you can skip editing updater-script

There's a separate modded MIUI updater app available for download incremental updates.
Kindly download that app and download the OTAs through it.

I have unlocked, disabled encryption and rooted Pocophone using Magisk , then flashed a custom kernel.
If a new update comes in for Pocophone, I know that I cannot directly go flash the OTA update because it will cause bootloop or brick my device. What to do before updating from previous to latest with custom kernel and root? (e.g. MIUI 9 > MIUI 10)

Omg yes! It was Error 7.. If stable rom shows same results. Time to plan B.
Plan B is to try another custom recovery that supports ota updates, ota survival, and disables the force encryption to the data partition.

If you've flashed a non-stock recovery like TWRP*, you can not use the OTA update feature. You need to flash the full ROM via TWRP.
* TWRP is now officially supported, make sure you flash that version if you're using an older, unofficial TWRP.
1. Obtain the ROM you want to install. Make sure the download is from miui.com if you want stock
Official site -> My phone is the EEA version, so I use the 'Mi 9T EEA' tab. The website does not update links immediately after a ROM update is released, so you may have to do a bit of digging if you want a very recent update.
You can also check ROM links on third party sites like ezbox.idv.tw, again, make sure the actual download links are from miui.com and not somewhere else.
Latest EEA ROM(Android 10) as of 2020-10-24 -
V12.0.3.0.QFJEUXM
Nightly official LineageOS builds
2. Get into TWRP
Either run 'adb reboot recovery'
Or power phone off and boot into TWRP by holding PWR+VOL_UP during boot
3. Upload the ROM to the phone
Code:
adb push ~/Downloads/[B]miui_DAVINCIEEAGlobal_V12.0.3.0.QFJEUXM_12b99693bc_10.0.zip[/B] /sdcard/
4. Flash the ROM via TWRP
5. Flash Magisk if you use it, because flashing the ROM deletes it.
6. Remove the update file:
Code:
adb shell rm /sdcard/[B]miui_DAVINCIEEAGlobal_V12.0.3.0.QFJEUXM_12b99693bc_10.0.zip[/B]
That's it! Reboot your phone into your new ROM!
Also check out my debloat list and my detailed phone settings.
Additional note - formatting /system will brick your phone and you'll have to recover using a fastboot ROM.

If you've flashed a non-stock recovery like TWRP, you can not use the OTA update feature. You need to flash the full ROM via TWRP.
So how to get around this when the updater is telling you there is an incremental update?
Simple, we tell the updater to download the full image instead, move the update from the original folder so MIUI won't attempt to upgrade from it on next reboot, boot into TWRP and flash the image there.
1. Settings -> About Phone -> System update -> three dots -> Download latest package
2. Get filename of the update:
3. You now have the filename of the update. I got miui_DAVINCIEEAGlobal_V10.3.15.0.PFJEUXM_b6738621e2_9.0.zip and will be using this name throughout the rest of this how-to, replace the examples accordingly based on what name you got.
4. (optional) Backup the latest ROM file to your PC:
5. Prevent MIUI from seeing the update file and trying to update from it on accident by moving the file a folder higher:
6. Power phone off
7. Boot into TWRP by holding PWR+VOL_UP during boot
8. Flash the ROM via TWRP
9. Flash Magisk if you use it, flashing the ROM deletes it.
10. Boot back into Android and remove the update file:
That's it!
You can also download the full ROM directly through miui.com, but keep in mind the website does not instantly update the link there after a ROM update is released.
https://en.miui.com/download-361.html#619 -> My phone is the EEA version, so I use the 'Mi 9T EEA' tab.
Page best viewed in Firefox, clicking on the lock icon -> Arrow icon in the security tab -> Disable protection, since Xiaomi can't even set their website up properly.
In my case the ROM download through phone was corrupted and I had to edit the site URL from the filename I got to get a proper update file:

10.3.15 ota is back online, just received it
Hey @C0rn3j
I am on stock 10.3.12.0 PFJEUXM and TWRP 4PDA 3.3.1.-2 fix and Magisk.
My questions:
1. Is it worth the upgrade to MIUI 11 as it is still Android 9
2. If I flash it through TWRP, did you loose any dual app settings? (as I lost dual apps while backing up the phone with TWRP and Titanium backup)
3. as you said I have to flash the Magisk again, did you choose the latest or the same as was installed on the phone before the upgrade?
Thanks in advance for reply

1. Security updates.
2. I don't use dual apps so I wouldn't know. AFAIK people had issues with using the backup/restore functionality of TWRP on that version. You should probably update it as I believe latest is -4
3. Latest.

I have Nova Launcher, do you use default or as well external one?
Do you think Nova will stay untouched with this upgrade?

Nothing will happen to it
If the Magisk have to be flashed again, does it mean all the hide settings which were there before has to be set again or stay there from the old version? I have few apps in Magisk hide root, so just wondering how this will be affected with rom update
A second question:
I am on 10.3.12.0 not upgraded yet to 10.3.15.0.
Can I upgrade straight to V11.0.2.0 or first to 10.3.15.0 and then to V11?

While flashing did you untick Recovery in the TWRP as I believe the whole 2,2GB ZIP has recovery image and could be flashed and overwrite the TWRP?
Your guide not working, twrp failed to install the update "file corrupted".
I've downloaded the OTA package from "http://c.mi.com//miuidownload/detail?device=1700361" and twrp very happy to install this file, my Mi_9T at the latest update 11.
Unfortunately the archive downloaded through the Updater cannot be flashed as is through TWRP (message: file corrupted)

Hi,
I search Xiaomi MIUI EU Custom ROM to flash with twrp.
Is this the right file for doing it:
xiaomi.eu_multi_HMNote10_V13.0.11.0.SKGMIXM_v13-12.zip2022-12-133.4 GB
or this file: xiaomi.eu_multi_HMNote10_V13.0.10.0.SKGMIXM_v13-12.zip
Thanks

Check the version of your phone:M2101K7AG, M2101K7AI
It seems that the code name of your device is MOJITO, Xiaomi EU rom does not provide a rom for this version.
The roms you post are stock roms.

Is there already a TWRp for this model?
And the TWRP uses recovery roms which contain only enough to start the phone or update, unlike the Fastboot rom which contains all the IMGs.
Use this tool to change rom version (the data will be erased).

In meantime I found this thread
So I asked my question there

Exact, I looked for the MOJITO and apparently the SUNNY does the trick so yes you can use this rom and flash it with the TWRP.
If this is a first installation, format the data.

Maybe the same to check https://sourceforge.net/projects/recovery-for-xiaomi-devices/files/sunny/
try to flash a stock rom with the TWRP, let the phone restart and arrive on Xiaomi account, switch to Fastboot mode and flash the TWRP and try again the Xiaomi Eu rom, if it does not work, use Miflash.
TWRP/wipe format data type yes reboot TWRP/flash rom.
Ok. I'll try it.
Doesn't work with this twrp. Same error.
So I download this recovery rom and flash it with twrp.
All good.
Then I flash twrp again and format date.
Try to flash the EU custom rom... same error. ...File exist...
How can I do this with Miflash?
I extract the EU custom Rom. Load it to MiFlash and get error:
---------------------------
couldn't find flash script.
---------------------------

Miflash is only for stock roms.
Try this Xiaomi Eu rom fastboot.zip.xiaomi.eu_multi_HMNote10_V13.0.8.0.SKGMIXM_v13-12-fastboot.zip
https://sourceforge.net/projects/xi...13.0.7.0.SLMCNXM_v13-12-fastboot.zip/download
Extract the folder from the zip, then run the file first install.bat, phone in Fastboot mode.
You can update afterwards via OTA.
In meantime I tried once again #13
This time it works. Now I use Eu custom Rom.
Thanks for all your help
