My phone is bent, i've never bent a phone and this has been living in a slack leather case, and it's only bent on the volume button side, if I place my phone on a flat surface on the sim side it's flat on the button side when I turn the phone around you can see the top of the phone is bent maybe 1mm, it doesn't photo very well though I may try again later.
My guess is that the processor is around the area its bent I would say from the heat, I never put my phone in my pocket or anywhere that could bend it, bit gutted going to go to carphone warehouse this morning see what they say.
As it is it doesn't bother me what I'm worried about is if it gets worse and cracks the screen or something later on they'll say I've done it in my pocket

You're saying that your phone was so hot it bent?
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
I'm not saying it got so hot it's bent it's never felt like its got that hot but what I think is its bent from the heat of the processors it obviously gets warmer than other parts of the phone, i'm only guessing, my phone is bent and 100% I've not caused it
I'm only saying that because it's bent where the phone gets warm which I presume is where the processors are, just above the power button only on the right hand side of the phone the left is perfectly flat

Not very encouraging spoke to carphone warehouse who said its a common issue not sure how happy they are to replace the phone as the chances are the same thing will happen to the next, spoke to Huawei, they are pretty much saying that any bending will be down to consumer abuse, i can send it back but chances are i'll be charged inspection fee, and a repair fee, they would contact before repair but I would still have to pay the inspection fee they very much doubt it would be covered under warranty because they say this is the first time they've heard of this... back to carphone warehouse then...
There is already an open, active thread discussing this very topic in the Nexus 6P general forum. No need for another one.

Charging my phone earlier, nothing unusual or different, basically just using the usb wall charger like i always do. Finished charging so i unplugged it from the phone only i noticed a little piece of plastic had fallen out of the charging slot.
On inspection it looks like the plastic covers the pins, id have to assume its to protect them from being bent. The top pins still have the plastic piece there as i cant see the pins but the bottom pins are now visible, i've never seen those pins before so its definately where the plastic has come from.
I can actually put the plastic back in there but its very loose and could fall out with ease. It also pops out again if i insert the charger and unplug it ...
Question is, should i worry about this and is it fixable, i have thought about super glueing it. At the moment im extremely worried if i try to charge the phone that those pins will bend as theres nothing to really protect them now.
Also i do own the phone, bought it earlier this year from Tesco's around January time so its not even over 12 months. With that in mind i could probably walk into tesco's and get a refund or replacement. This might be my best option but i dont think tesco stock the phones anymore.
What should i do, try and fix it, ignore it, or send it back to tesco's ?
a replacement is an option, but tesco thats smooth its like someone in america getting the phone from walmart lol, If you don't wanna take it back superglue the end but DO NOT PUT IT IN YOUR PHONE TILL THE GLUE HAS DRIED, sorry thought that was needed, superglue is not conductive so wont cause any issues. good luck though.
You forgot one option, and probably the best one in your situation: contact the manufacturer. If the place you bought it from doesn't have it anymore, then you still have the manufacturer warranty and should be using that.

After some thought im thinking returning to tesco is my best option, if i went down the superglue method and it didnt work id be stuck as i couldnt return it then. Even if they dont have any replacements which is likely as it was only on offer for a short period i can get my refund and go off and buy another streak elsewhere.
Thanks for the superglue tip, i'll have to remember that for any future glueing projects . Super advice that.

This is always an option but from past experience dell are terrible, you usually end up with a replacement thats scratched and dirty. Either that or they refuse to honour the warranty and blame you forcing you to pay for the repair, i had a really tough time with them over a laptop a few years ago. Never again if i can help it.
I have had a pretty good experience with Dell exchanging my phone, but the first replacement unit was also defective. Very clean, however ;-)

Same thing happened to me and many others. It is not covered by Dell warranty, so hopefully your store will replace.
I was told by the Dell rep at their support outlet that it is a common issue, which is why Dell has moved to mini-usb. However Screen and Charge Port issues are not covered under warranty so they would not replace.
I said to the guy, so am I to throw away a 3 month old phone???
I lodged a complaint with Dell Asia and US but was shot down both times.
In the end I had to pay for an electronics guy to solder a new PDMI port (hence voiding the remaining 9 months warranty).
Had phone since the Sunday it was released...screen has developed a crack at the bottom, just above the capac. buttons going completely across the screen.
Everything still works fine, but is obnoxious to look at.
Heres the thing... (and I know people will doubt this) but I haven't dropped the phone at all. Not even set it down roughly. This morning, everything was normal...went to go to work and put it in my bag by itself (correction - only other thing in there was a book and a wool hat). Got to work, took my phone out and BLAM, crack stretching from one side to the other. No marks around the bumpers or anything. I'm completely nonplussed at what could have happened. My thinking is flex *could* have done this, but that seems like it'd need a hell of a lot of pressure to do.
Well, ATT won't cover it, samsung won't cover it and the quoted repair cost is $200. Deductible for ATT phone insurance is...you guessed it...$200 (or $250 can't remember).
Anyone have any luck with these flybynight screen repair shops? I don't think they'd have the parts in stock for the phone since it is new and kind of a fringe product.
I'm seriously pissed...hung around with my iphone 3g for 3 years waiting for a good phone to upgrade to..finally blow my upgrade and a week later blam.

just take it back under warranty and get it replaced.

I called Samsung on the phone and they told me it wouldn't be covered under warranty... I did explain to them that it hadn't been dropped or anything. Should I call and pester them again?

I would take it to a different AT&T location and see if they'll replace it. Sounds like you got a rubbish device. I can't imagine they would replace it, as long as it's obvious it hasn't been dropped.

Some photos of the damage/device, I have more of just about every angle. I cannot find *any* indication of external damage which makes sense, but still the screen is jacked.
I bet the book fid that. That happened to our recrptionist to her iphone. A book in the back pack. She is a college studemt.

A paperback book could do that? Thats actually very concerning to me as a consumer. I'm extremely cautious with my electronics (ask my wife, she will eyeroll ) and to have something like this occur without any strenuous contact being made with the phone is appalling.
First Samsung phone, and unfortunately will most likely be my last. It looks and operates flawlessly and was exactly what I wanted... but I can't for the life of me see spending that kind of money on something that can essentially break through such light use.

buy a replacement from ebay and fix it yourself. shouldnt be too difficult, I have replaced my iphones and my sensations screen and they pretty much were the same
I tried looking on ebay for a replacement, but perhaps I'm searching for the wrong thing...
can you share a link?
After calling just about every ATT store in town and explaining the problem, I found one willing to exchange it for a new one no questions asked.
I'm still worried about the durability of the phone since nothing major occurred that should cause this amount of damage. Hopefully I just had a defective screen or something and this one will last me a long, long time.
i carry my note in my pocket (I'm a big guy) it rides in the front pocket all day was case-less for the first week i mean i worked played and goofed off with it there can't even tell. i think u just got a bad glass display it is mass produced product and defects do happen.
I myself was very impressed with the build quality of the phone how sturdy it felt despite its lack of depth. So i'd just be aware and keep ur books away from it
should probably just start storing my books on the damn thing

Im guessing you just had a faulty screen. Gorilla glass can take some serious pressure, and is even pretty damn good at shock resistance. I've dropped my old captivate and infuse countless times without a case and never cracked a screen. Hell, last summer my captivate took a kick from a full grown horse when it was in my pocket, and the screen survived. The hoof hit the back of my captivate, bent the backplate and battery, but the screen was fine. It saved me from a huge bruise, that's for sure.
I think you will be fine with a new device, because it sounds like a faulty screen. Don't let one faulty Samsung ruin Samsung for you forever. They make great devices, and their screens are matched by none. Other manufacturers are just as likely do have a defective device, you just got really unlucky with your first note.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
I have already dropped my note face down on a corner (it was in a speck case and had a clear screen protector on) and knock on wood it was fine. It is very possible that its just a faulty screen. I would pesster the heck out of at&t and samsung til i got a new phone. They will budge you just have to be persistant.

No offense, but if you stuffed your Note in a bag with a book or anything else, you're not really that cautious with your electronics. There's a reason I have never damaged any of my phones or tablets. It's because I don't do things like that.

I'm not sure where you got the idea that I "stuffed" it in a bag. The bag in question was a messenger style bag with separate internal pockets, phone was in one, book in the other. Book was a paperback (you can actually see it in my photos) about 200 pages thick.
UPDATE:
Second phone screen cracked. Top of screen near the front camera. Had it less than 24 hours - took it back and they exchanged it again with no issues.
Got it at around 4pm, took it home, put it in case (SGP) and put it to charge, went to the gym and then came home and did some programming for a few hours before bed. Phone stayed on charger the whole time. Next morning I put (note: did not "stuff") the phone into my right front pocket of my jeans (normal jeans, not skinny or anything). It was the only thing in the pocket, had a wallet in my back right pocket and some disposable eye contacts in my left front pocket. Walked about 3 blocks to a lecture checked email on the phone - no crack. sat with it in the pocket (front right) for about an hour and a half, then got up and walked home. Got home took the phone out...crack! About an inch long from the very edge of the glass towards the middle of the phone.
I can't make this stuff up. Took it to the store and they replaced it for me again. Manager said something about maybe they got tussled around during shipment or packing.
Both cracked were white devices. The phone I have now is a black one.
I'm trying to think of reasons why this could have occurred twice. First time could possibly have been from being in the bag, but I wasn't throwing the bag around or anything like that. Second time? Who knows... if walking with a phone in your pocket causes it to break...
I am super thankful that I found a store willing to do the exchanges, and I do love this phone...but what the heck!
My girl and I got our Notes direct from AT&T by reupping for 2 years. We both immediately put them in Speck cases, and I covered mine with Armor Suit screen shield. She didn't, cause she didn't like the feel... neither do I really, but I like the feeling of security. She babies her phone, cleaning the screen several times a day, keeping it out of dirt, and just basically keeps it in much better shape day-to-day than I keep mine.
Anyway, she pulled her phone out of her purse late on Friday (too late to go to AT&T) and this is what we found. There is nothing in this particular purse that is even a bit hard that could have hit the screen and she says when she grabbed it (near the ATT logo) she felt cracking, and felt broken glass stabbing her finger. I thought it looked like it got hit, but there is nothing else on the screen, and where she had it in her purse, she'd have been knocked on her butt from the force required to get through the hats and scarf that the phone was inside and break it like this. If it got hit, someone was taking shots at us or something... but then, no puncture in the purse... and yeah, she's got nails and all, but she isn't some Amazonian... could a fingernail have done this?
The phone works fine, the digitizer is fine. I've looked on ebay for replacement glass... she wants it stock, not with an N7000 glass, so that's out for the time being. It looks worse now than it first did, but we are currently in a town with no AT&T store and won't be back to civilization till like Wed or Thurs... but in the meantime I'd like to know what we might be able to do.
1)- So, is it possible this is the "bad screen" crack problem?
2)- What can we do at 45 days (we don't have the ATT insurance)
Looks like it took a shot on that second picture...doesn't look like a defect. Im afraid you might be SOL...manufactures warrenty only covers mechanical problems, not damage in which case youd use your insurance if you had it but you'd still have a 200 detectable or whatever they charge. Id certainly call and *****...maybe they'll work with you. Just a tid bit for ya, each of the 5 times i had my infuse replaced (warrenty) they told me that the phone ill be sending back needs to be in basic perfect condition or they'll charge me the retail value of the phone to my bill.

i just cracked my screen too. can't see anything but it still turns on. I looked on Ebay to get an idea of what it might go for. Any ideas?
I accidentally spilled a small bottle of water near the right pocket, which is where my phone was resting. The water got inside the TPU case, towards the top where power button and headphone jack is, along with the back of the phone around camera and kickstand. I took the case out as quickly as I could and dried the phone. It seems to be working ok, though I am at work and can't really try it out to see if all functions are working. Anyone have any advice? Should I try to go to sprint?
Put your phone into a bowl of uncooked rice. It will help draw out any water that might be in it....if done quickly enough that is.

i wouldnt take it to sprint yet.. if everythings working your all set.. if somethings wrong with the phone because of the water your screwed because insurance is no good if u messed your phone up from water they have lil stickers inside the phone and if they get wet they change color.. thats how they kno if the phone has water damage.. i would see if everything works before u bring it in...
I thought sprints coverage includes water damage. Have to pay the deductible tho. I once dropped my 3D in the toilet. I recovered it quickly and removed the case, and the indicator by the battery did not show up. I thought I was in the clear until about 3wks later and my phone started acting goofy beginning with losing mobile service. Since the indicator still wasn't showing up I took it in and got a replacement phone and didn't have to pay the deductible. I had read that water damage can take up to a couple months to show up.

I would just wait and see if it recovers before getting a new one
For first few minutes, it worked ok, than the screen started to fliker, than it progressively got worse from there. Camera stopped working, than the phone started to vibrate on its own. After rebooting, it died. Now the screen is completely non-responsive, though I can feel the haptic feedback every now and than. I am getting phone calls as the phone rings, but I can't answer it since, well, the screen is not working. I can silence the ring with the power button, but the power button isn't doing anything else.
I can't believe that a freak accident like that with a few drops of water can do this much damage. My phone is in Diztronic TPU case with a screen protector. It was in my pocket when the water spilled, with few drops spilling in my pocket, on top of the phone, went under the phone case and now I have a dead phone
Open your phone open, clean the board with a tooth brush soaked in alcohol. It would be best to bake to the board, I use a hako with a paint can with a whole in the bottom. I have actually heard of people putting their phones a toaster oven, sounds crazy but its more so to get rid of any moisture and reflow any damaged chips.

There is a indicator inside the phone also. But it sounds like they took it in as other problems without thinking water damage, as your visible indicator was fine.
I thought the alcohol tip only worked with lab grade isopropyl alcohol? Basically it bonds with the water then evaporates, but the kind you get at the drug store isn't concentrated enough. I fully admit i could be wrong though.

Find all the silica gel packs you can get, go to a shoe store and take all the packs out of the shoe boxes or go to Home Depot. Then put them all in a bow and put your phone in the middle of it, it's the best way to draw out moisture.
Dude turn your phone off and let it dry for a day. If you keep it on it will most likely short something out.

i would do the rice thing and see what happens after a day.. otherwise if you take it to a sprint store DO NOT say anything about the water damage unless they ask.. You may have gotten lucky and the sticker may have no trace of water..
Damp Rid
Go to the hardware and get a tub of damp rid. Put thr DR in a large tupperware.put the phone in a smaller tupperware and put the open small tupperware into the big tupperware (sealed) for 2 to 3 days. I saved 2 phones this way. . . . Kids.
My wife dropped her OG evo in the bathtub and it was totally done. We pay for the Sprint coverage and they took care of us with no issues whatsoever.
I can verify their warranty definitely covers water damage. That is if the rice trick doesn't work first.

Repair # 1-20162112859
My phone was left on the table while it was raining last week (flaps fully closed of course) and when I picked it up to check something after a while I saw it was turning itself off. After that it never came back alive no matter what I tried. I noticed the camera lenses had fully frosted up so it was apparent that water had seeped in somehow.
I dried the phone for over a day but it simply didn't work! I sent it to Sony for warranty repair as I expected it to be covered since I used it under their advertised conditions and you expect it to take a bit of rain at the minimum.
To my utter horror they have come back as saying that because the phone has some other physical damage on the other side (it has a very slight bend in the left side middle which i don't recall it having) it means that the warranty is automatically void and they don't even need to investigate the water damage or the reason why the waterproofing failed via faulty flaps! But the failed flap is the one on the opposite/right side where the SIM and memory card go! It doesn't even make sense!
I have attached the repair centre (SBE Ltd. UK) sent pictures as evidence.
I assure you that the 2 are completely unrelated and on the opposite sides of the phone. They are simply using cause and effect and not scientific tests to rub their hands off my claim. There are plenty threads online showing that Sony Z3 phones have been failing at waterproofing. Given Sony's dropping sales they should at least help out their customers and stick by their principles and marketing claims.
To top up the experience the rude customer service even charge me £20 to ship phone back! Extortion?
I was a staunch Sony fan who owned the Xperia S, Z, Z2 and Z3 but my Sony story is well and truly over! I will go to a small consumer court as I will not give up because I am right! can anyone in UK advise what are my rights and course of action?
More shocked than disappointed.
That doesn't look like a Z3v which this is the sub-forum for.
I also had and issue with the upper right/lower left corners developed a crack in the body of the phone, contacted Sony and they said "sorry warranty is voided, physical damage", phone has never been dropped, but I do carry it in my back pocket. Hasn't gotten water in it, but have not gotten it wet yet to see if water resistance integrity has been compromised.
Phones are too thin now-a-days and bend and flex way to easily. $.02
Lesson learned -- never buy thin phone again.

I have insurance with Verizon, so I just know Verizon will take care of any problems with my phone. I know Sony is hard to deal with, and I was trying to get help with a Bluetooth headset I have. The screen went out for no reason, but they require a reboot for proof of purchase. I purchased through eBay and I have PayPal as my proof, but they won't accept. Idk what else to do.

I'm usually careful with my phones and keep them for 2+ years with just normal wear and scuffs but this just makes me think about getting square trade every time I read stuff like this. It would be nice if pay pal had at least 1 year protection for electronics at $250 and up.

Odd isn't it? I mean, I have ordered products through eBay before and had a problem with that product and the manufacture had no problem accepting eBay receipt as proof of purchase and warrantied the product no questions asked, difference between a good company and Sony.
