Hi, first question:
Step 6 of what? I guess a tutorial, but linking it would be good.
Second:
Do you have an unlocked bootloader?

Hi..
I was trying to unlock bootloader, there i was stucked at point 6 in the guide but never min,i followed another guide and bootloader is now unlocked.
I was updating from B130 to B140 yesterday. I did it 4-5 times cause under info it said that i was still at B130 after sucessfully update.
Still it was showing B130 after flashing to 140.
I tried so to update to MM,then stuck.
Since my bootloader now is unlocked,i can try to flash B130 im guessing?

I also did the update to b140, but it still says b130. So I stayed on the b130.
You can try to flash the full b130 again but if it doesn't work, just start from the b100 and update with the incremental update again up to b130.
For now I will not try to flash the MM beta update because it fails all the time on my device. The full MM should be coming out soon anyway.
Good luck

Well,i tried to update to 130 but failed at 5%.
Just to be safe,i extract the UPDATE file from the zip and put in dload in sd card, right? And then try the 3 button update...
My phone is now saying unlocked under fastboot..

I had to do everything over bootloader since the Huawei update button combination was not working for me.
Also, my phone said unlocked even though it wasn't. I still had to unlock it and was only able after to flash over fastboot / bootloader.
To flash over fastboot, you have to use the Huawei firmware extractor to extract firmware parts and then flash the .img files one by one over fastboot.
I already gave my flash sequence here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64570443&postcount=4
That worked for me

As i understand, bootloader and fastboot is two different Things.
Bootloader is volum button up + Power button?
There i can get this Wipe cache and so on?
In that case i cant get in there..When i try that, the phone reboots even before i get time to press one of the options...
Fastboot however,is volum button Down + powerbutton and that Works fine. i can be there without reboot at all.
So what i wondering of then is,can i flash these files over fastboot also or only bootloader?
So right now i try the 3 button update With B100.
So far its on 90% and have been that for 10 minutes...

Well, the bootloader and fastboot are basically the vol- power combo, the aka "rescue boot" in the Honor 7.
You can follow THIS guide to unlock your bootloader to be able to "fastboot flash" firmware pieces.
Here is a little guide on how to fastboot flash firmware parts (Go to part V): http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-7/general/guide-beginners-how-to-root-update-fix-t3255452
And here is the flash sequence I used to make it work (already linked it in my previous post): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64570443&postcount=4

Ok..
The phone is already unlocked.
I was now able to flash the image files in step 5 in the guide u mention (Fix bootloop). I used the image files from B100.
After reboot the phone automaticly goes to Huawei software installing and get stuck on 90%...
I have no chance to get it in bootload either, only fastboot.
The guide tells to be in bootload to flash, but i cant get there since its rebooting instantly when i get there.
From cmd i was flashing and there it says "finished" after every step, even in fastboot.
Still,i now get this software update screen automaticly and get stuck there.
I Guess im out of options.

Try to force shutdown it by holding the power button and then leaving it to turn on alone. Delete your dload folder in the SD card if it goes to the update screen again and then repeat the procedure to force power off.
Let me know

Ok if that didn't work, try to go into fastboot, reflash using my sequence and when you are done, while still in fastboot, do "fastboot reboot".
If that doesn't work, I'm out of ideas right now too.

What is right? I almost dont dare to update it to anything anymore now..
Another thing thats strange...Now my phone says its only total 5 GB memory on it.. It should be 16 total.

Well that happened to me too. You should definitely make a factory reset to get your space back.
Then, if you feel like it, I would reflash the B100 (or try over the vol+ vol- power combo again)
Happy that you are back with us :highfive:

ADB detects the phone, installed the drivers on OMAP 4430.
I tried it on Ubuntu, if you type the command "adb reboot oem-unlock" it was the same as on Windows 7
Already did it,
I have uploaded the new ROM V20B and restored the factory settings, the bootloader unlocked.
Thank you for your help

Which variant you have? P765 / P760 / P768 / P778? Which country rom you tried, etc.
Always provide all the information in first request so people will start thinking what might have happened? This phone is really bit difficult due to various variants and rom+hardware non-compatibilities.
Kevev just PM'ed me that myju figured out the problem. And I told him this in PM...May be this is not the case here, but this generally happens. He he he
@kevev, Do you know, when there is a silly question from noobs, leave it for some time without answering. And they get impatient and frustrated and they start reading the whole OP carefully and do things in right way. lolz experienced many a times and always worked. ha ha ha
hello, i hope i am posting in the right thread. You need to do the online recovery option with LG PC suite, put the phone in S/W upgrade mode. Turn off then plug in USB with 'Vol Up' held. Then use PC suite, and click on Recovery Phone Mode or something and it should flash full stock on your phone, you may have to format data if the phone doesn't boot after the update (Vol Down + Home + Power)

Hey thanks for your reply. I appreciate your help. I am unable to boot into S/W upgrade mode because the phone has no software on it, powers on to a black screen without a bootloader. I was hoping that someone might be able to tell me what I'd need to copy to the various partitions on the phone to get it back in working condition - at least enough to get it back to stock. I can get the phone to power on and boot into fastboot and I've played around trying to copy bootloaders and stuff to the phone but I must not be either doing it right or getting the right software for the correct phone. I accidently flashed the phone with the wrong software and through many mistakes ended up wiping all of the partitions on the phone...perhaps some kind person here might be able to provide the images i'd need and how to use fastboot to copy them to the phone, I'd truly appreciate the help as this is my only phone and been without it for a couple days (won't be trying to flash firmwares again if i can get the phone back up and working) much thanks

I noticed a thread on how to restore a Nexus 7 through fastboot, and was hoping a similar method would work for the LG but can't find an image of the phone that will work with fastboot
If you're talking about what I think you are, you need to fastboot flash u-boot, x-loader, and recovery via fastboot. You can't do system via fastboot because the file size it too big. I ran into that problem once by accidentally flashing wrong u-boot and then erasing all partitions out of frustration. I don't think recovery Idk 100% necessary as long as you can boot into s/w update mode, which I believe is intertwined somewhere in the u-boot or x-loader.
Once you get the phone to load inti s/w mode, you're set to flash kdz.

Hard Brick ?

Ok, I just want to know if my phone is hard bricked, or if I still have a chance...
I tried to install an update (121 to 170 for plk-l01) on my rooted phone, with local update. It didn't worked, twrp show errors everywhere, and after turning off know i can't access the recovery. when I press on vol+/- and power for 10-15 second, it vibrate but nothing else.
Is there anything I can do ? my phone isn't recognized by my computer, by the way...
Why you did that? You can't update rooted phone

Try to boot into fastboot (phone turned off - connect with data usb to the computer - vol down + power on). Extract rom which is currently installed or higher (for your respective model) and flash from it:
fastboot.exe flash boot BOOT.img
fastboot.exe flash recovery RECOVERY.img
fastboot.exe flash cust CUST.img
fastboot.exe flash system SYSTEM.img
Reboot.

Thanks, but unfortunately, it just 'boot' as others reboots. it vibrates, doesn't get recognize and doesn't turn on...
If anyone have any clue on how to force recognizing the phone storage, it might really help ^^
That is what my phone is doing, I tried to upgrade to marshmallow though with no root!! I put the zip in the dload folder and went through the upgrade process everything went through the phone rebooted and now its dead. Blank screen and if you hold power after a few seconds it will vibrate but that is it. I presume its hard bricked? no matter what combo of buttons I press I cannot get it in to fastboot.

ok I'm looking for a solution for hours now... so I just lokked how works our phone and I think the trouble must be in the preloader, because I can't even make my phone being recognized by any computer and I can't access to recovery.
I found this :
http://www.droidgyan.com/soft-brick-vs-hard-bricked-vs-broken/
Which could help. I'll leave that topic on for some days (if it could help someone) and I'll open a new one to know if there is any easier solution ! thanks and good luck.
I sorted mine, it was only 2 days old so I got it replaced by the shop I bought it on. I would say it was something like a pre loader from what I saw. I have never bricked an Android phone and I must have had 15-20 of them since my first HTC Magic and before that Windows Mobile which again I messed with tons reloading with all sorts of ROM's!! These phones are wayyyy too sensitive to being messed with, I always remember though that you never mess with the boot loaders, but it looks like these updates do to get it bricked to that point.

I just hard bricked my Honor 7 the same way. Is there really no solution? Other China-Phones are pretty much unbrickable, since you can always fix it via the preloader. No such luck here? Back to the shop and hope they actually replace it? While I admit it was stupid to just hastily start the OTA while having twrp and not stock recovery (no root, though), this is a terrible design flaw on Huaweis side.
Anyway... any hope or no chance?
i just hard bricked my honor 7 PLK-L01
it the same thing it is doing . not recognized by the computer
tried all the combination of buttons. but no hope
and it only vibrates when tried to turn on

@Idiocrate try to boot into bootloader mode just by pressing Vol DOWN button and simultaneously connecting it to a PC, don't press Power button, if it boots into it, then follow the method given by @piskr in third post.

honor 5X update freeze/loop - no TWRP recovery possible

Hello everybody,
since saturday I have a really big problem. Until now I tried to find a similar problem from an other person in the internet in order to fix mine but that was not possible.
So in my last hope I am now writing it down here. Hopefully someone can help me:
The phone was/is rooted and has TWRP as recovery installed (v3.21). The software is still the original EMUI.
On saturday my Huawei Honor 5x (Model KIW-L21) gave me the notification that there is an software update avaible. So I backuped everything with TWRP to my sd-card and copied it to the computer. After this I ran th eupdate. The update downloaded the new software, then rebootet to the recovery, installed the update.zip automaticly and rebootet again. Then there was written on the screen "Huawei software installing ... DO NOT unplug usb or press any key!". Also there was "0%" all the time. It did nothing. also the phone was not connected with usb.
After an hour I long pressed the power button. after two seconds there was the text "Warning: The powerkey is long pressed, please release powerkey to avoid system crash" displayed. I pressed it longer and the phone turned off.
Now I have the following problem. When the phone is turned off, I can:
press the power button: the phone starts, the "honor ... android" logo is shown but nothing more happens. ("fastboot devices" -> no devices found, "adb devices" -> device found but no permission to enter commands)
press the power button and the volume up button and the volume down button at the same time: normally this should take me in the recovery mode, mut it doesn't anymore. Instead the "EMUI" update screen is shown (see above "huawei software installing ..." with "0%") ("fastboot devices" -> no devices found, "adb devices" -> no devices found)
press the power button and the volume up button at the same time: I get a huawei menu with three buttons: "reboot", "wipe user cache" and "factory reset". I tried both (wipe and reset) wich both finished without an error. But nothing changes ("fastboot devices" -> no devices found, "adb devices" -> no devices found)
press the power button and the volume down button at the same time: I get an "eRecovery" menu from huawei with three buttons: "Reboot", "power off" and "Recover with latest software". The last button lets me connect to my wifi and then "searching for packages", with failes all the time. ("fastboot devices" -> no devices found, "adb devices" -> no devices found)
This problem occures with and also without the sd-card. Also there is no "update.zip" or "update.app" on the sd-card.
I really hope somebody can help me. I only need to get into the recovery. If I am there I can recover the backup or install a new ROM. That would be no problem for me. But at the moment I get nothing :crying:
Or maybe a tool to reset the phone completly? to start over from the beginning?
greetings,
Christopher

to enter fastboot mode
1. Place the device in fastboot mode:
Turn off the device. (then wait for at least 2 seconds) For a mobile phone, press and hold the volume down and power keys simultaneously for at least 10 seconds (for a tablet, press and hold the volume up and power keys).
2. If the above operations do not switch the device to fastboot mode, please try the following steps:
Turn off the device. (then wait for at least 2 seconds) Then insert the USB cable and press and hold the volume down and power keys simultaneously for at least 10 seconds.
Step 2 worked for me every time

AGAIN AND AGAIN, when you receive an update notification you MUST first flash back to stock recovery or it won't update with TWRP !!!
- To recover a stock recovery you need to boot onto download mode/your bootloader mode (Power+Volume Down) : plug your phone to your computer and type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img".
From there you will loose your connexion with your computer. So unplug your phone and reboot manually holding down the Power button for some seconds.
If the system ever update your phone, BE VERY PATIENT !
The above note should probably part of a sticky !!!
If you don't get back to your Home screen and if you need TWRP back, reboot again onto download mode/your bootloader mode (Power+Volume Down) : plug your phone to your computer and type "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" (or whatever the custom recovery name).

The problem a lot of people were having is TWRP flashed enough of the update that they lost custom recovery and had no way to get to the bootloader / fastboot ... that's why I posted the instructions above and in about 4 other threads.
Did you ever get your phone updated ?

"fastboot & rescue mode" with a working usb connection.
What is the next step? If I now flash the stock recovery, does the phone manages to finish the system update?
Or should I flash the twrp recovery and not the stock revocery?
greetings,
Christopher
EDIT:
I flashed the stock recovery and also the twrp recovery. both times i startet the phone and hoped the installation of the new software will go on. But it didn't.
So my problem is still resistant. so what can I do? How do I stop the update from blocking my recovery? I do not need the update. maybe I can reset my device with the fastboot access somehow?

Thanks to @clsA I found the stock recovery here and I will try it:

Working great thanks a lot!
"fastboot & rescue mode" with a working usb connection.

All the full updates are in the file depot
Use stock recovery plus the full update for your version.
You have to hold volup + voldown + power to start the update
Refresh TWRP / Root and your good to go

I found the stock recovery at https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=51004 but I have no idea what update I must use and how to use it.
Could you please give me a concrete link with a little introduction? Do I have to copy the update file to my sd-card? or do I have to use the "fastboot update *" command?
(Most of the files are for "KIW-L24" but I have a "KIW-L21" ... is there a significant difference? Od do I can use also the other files?)
Also, don't I have to stop the wrong update first?
greetings,
Christopher
EDIT:
I tried these "UPDATE.APP":
http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5x/development/stock-kiw-l24-l21-t3312684
http://www.androidvillaz.com/2016/0...honor-5x-to-stock-lollipop-firmware-b130.html
both did not work. I copied them into the "dload" folder in the root of the sd-card and started the phone with volup+coldown+power.
The only thing the phone said was "Software install failed! ... Press powerkey to conrifm ... Shutdown system now".

if the update.app doesn't work you'll have to flash TWRP and the Stock Rom and wait like everyone else that's stuck trying to update the L21

The only way I know to flash a ROM, is to go over TWRP.
So I now did the following:
Phone power off
connect to pc
voldown+power
in the fastboot flash the recovery from twrp
shutdown
copy the "customromtemplate-5x-plk21-b130-r3.zip" to the sd-card
volup+coldown+power what normally starts twrp, but only the huawei update manager is shown
I only need twrp, no update and nothing else.
What options do I have left, because "flash a ROM" is not working ...
How can I stop this terrible update that is blocking my twrp?

are you flashing TWRP ?
you enter recovery with Volume up and Power
in TWRP you choose Install then choose customromtemplate-5x-plk21-b130-r3.zip
swipe to flash when it's done reboot
and your rom should load

I flashed TWRP using "kiwi_twrp_3-21_recovery.img". I also used this one last time (one month ago) and it worked then and also now.
Flashing was successful, but when I press volup+power I get a huawei menu.
At the top there is the "EMUI" circle and below there are three buttons:
Reboot system now
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache partition
I can move around in this little menu by using the volume keys.
But this is not TWRP.
And normally I enter the recovery by using volup+voldown+power. But this is currently blocked by the update progress from huawei.

This is the polish version of manual, I will write you how to do it:
1. Download ADB and Fastboot
2. Extract to c:/adb
3. Download from this thread firmware for you (extracted version!) http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5x/development/stock-kiw-l24-l21-t3312684 If you have problem what firmware you have to install, take look at the back side of phone, at the down you will se KIW-L21 or 24 (or another). Copy all files to adb folder
4. Rund adb program
5. Write in the command line: cd c:/adb
6. Connect phone to usb to download mode (power and vol- combination)
7. Write in fastboot command: fastboot flash recovery recover.img (or recovrey .img, see the file and type it name) - wait for install
8. And now: If the flash is succesfull, reboot the phone to recovery (power and volume+) and wipe all data. Phone have to work.
But if flash is not succesfull, plug again usb with download mode
9. Write this commands: fastboot flash cust cust.img -wait for install
and: fastboot flash system system.img -also wait, system.img can took a while
10. Now you will enter recovery and wipe all data
11. Again plug usb cable and install firmware with those commands:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash cust cust.img
fastboot flash cache cache.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
fastboot flash system system.img

With this I am not able to start my phone again. It will boot normally and I have a clean android. No userdata and no root.
So I now did the same like last month:
Unlock OEM -> not necessary, because it is already unlocked
install twrp with fastboot
reboot to twrp and there it is again
I did exactly what you said and also I did exactly the same thing I did last month but both times there is the same result: TWRP will not show up.
The "stock recovery" is blocking twrp in some sort of way. I can do whatever I whant ... volup+power out of the fastbook mode, or with "adb reboot recovery", or other ways ... twrp will not show up.
How is this possible? I also tried different twrp images. (The "kiwi_twrp_2-27_recovery.img" and "kiwi_twrp_3-21_recovery.img" out of your repository, and also the "twrp-3.0.0-0-kiwi.img" and "twrp-3.0.2-0-kiwi.img" from the twrp website itself ... always the same result: no twrp)
I am really at the end of my knollage

First off thanks for the very informative post.
Without actually having the phone in my hands I'm also stumped at what to try next.
After flashing TWRP and still in the boot loader unplug the USB before you reboot with power and volume up.
That's all I can think of right now

I must thank you for all your help
So I now read some more articles and tried some things. So there are old problems solved, but also new problems came up:
For me it is no longer possible to flash a recovery that is permanent. I have no idea why but I am ignoring it, because I can start the phone with voldown+power into bootloader and then use a usb-connection to enter the following command:
fastboot boot twrp-3.0.2-0-kiwi.img
Click to collapse
So i can enter twrp temporary and because I do not need TWRP this often, that is ok for me.
BUT:
with the extracted "UPDATE.APP" and flashing some "*.img" files manually (see my last post), I have a more or less working "L21C432B130" version of android.
So now there is everything original (recovery, system, ...).
The update to "L21C432B140" is still not working. But that is also something I can live with.
So now I whant to restore my old system in order to have my old data/apps/... .
So I enter my temporary TWRP, go to Restore and select my old backup. Then the restore starts. Restoring EFS, Restoring efs2, Restoring Recovery, Wiping System and Formatting System using make_ext4fs. All of this in this order are successful. But the last operation "Restoring Data" failes with the following error message:
extractTarFork() process ended with error 255
Click to collapse
So I searched on xda and found out, that this could be ANYTHING. I tried five or six different methods in order to fix it. In the end I am not sure what really fixxed it, but now I can restore my old update without any error. The phone now runs and I have all my old data.
There are four main differences on my phone to the time before I tried that damn update:
1. I have less internal storage
2. I have no TWRP permanently avaible
3. I can not Factory-Reset
4. I can not use a "UPDATE.APP" inside a "dload" folder on the sdcard
(the last two things always failes)
But as long as the android system now runs smooth again I can live with these things.
Is there maybe anything else I should be careful? maybe a known bug/problem that I have not seen yet?
The reason why I wanted to update in the first place was, that I have problems with my sd-card.
Some Apps do not allow to use the external storage. Easy Voice Recorder is the main problem. But also the Call Recorder has problems with it.
Is this a well known bug? Does a update helps? And if so, how do I update? (Now I know how to rescue my phone, so I could try it again xD )
Or does this problem gets solved with an custom ROM? If so, what good custom ROMs are out there for the honor 5x?
Or is this a problem that is not possible to fix on the honor 5x? Because these apps does not have this problem on my HTC One M9 ...
And thanks again so much for all your help

from your current state you can try flash recovery with TWRP by choosing install / image / your version of TWRP / choose recovery / swipe to flash
Now choose reboot / recovery
As for the sdcard try the sdcard fix for kit Kat in the play store. It works for some older apps.

So i have this issue too. im so stupid for doing this. I can go into fastboot mode and i flashed stock recovery and when i rebooted into recovery it still said that it was updating the firmware. I flashed twrp after that and it had the same message. am i doing something wrong or is it my phone? I tried rebooting into bootloader using adb but only fastboot will reconize my phone so adb also wont work. could you guys maybe help me?
Edit: Yessss. i got it using the temporary command. Thank you guys all for your help. it was so stupid of me to flash it with twrp still on it. Thank you all very much

fastboot doesnt work,cant flash twrp

Hi friends,
i already tried all the guides from xda and my blu vivo 5 doesnt work with this combination: marshmallow+twrp+root.
I did the flash to android 5.1 and ok;
i did the ota update to android 6 ok;
when i try flash to twrp, my fastboot doesnt work, i have this message:
"fastboot mode...
the function had been switched off for private information secure, forced open would be at risk". And i cant acess the recover mode using volu - plus power buttom, simply doesnt work. This happend only after the ota uptade to android 6.
I dont know how to fix it,any idea about what the hell is going on?
up!! same problem here i tried absolutely all methods and app's but no one helped as long as the boot loader is locked i can't get any chance to root this phone *Blu vivo5* *Android 6.0-Marshmallow*

Friend, i did it.Now im on marshmallow + twrp+ xposed everything alright, including battery.
What happend to me(its not so easy like these guides and steps):
Ive tried a lot of combinations of configurations...try this:
1- flash to stock rom, use flash tool like administrator, dont select user data and flash.
2- wait phone reboot, if stop in boot logo, just press power down and wait.I did some errors here, apps erros and the phone stay in loop on boot, so, if happends just press volume + and power, wipe cache and restore, it will work and you will acess normally. So, go to settings and give a new format factory. After this, do ota update, there are two, one with 97 mb and the android with more that 1gb.
3-Same way, after config marshmallow, wipe cache and do restore,so, go to flash tool again, here is the "key" that works to me :
take the recovery file from this post : [ROOT][HOW TO] Going from Stock Lollipop to marshmallow official and root it!!! (sorry but i cant post links) and do the same, dont select user data and flash. After flash, press vol + and power and see if your phone goes to twrp menu, if doesnt work, flash again until it works.I tried a lot of times and i have a strange issue, my phone lose acess to twrp sometimes and i have to repeat the flash process.
After you get the twrp the things will be easy, just take the super su file and install with twrp.
So, i did it even being with fastboot locked and i didnt set usb debbuging or any configuration, just flash and wipe until it works, but work...

LG G5 [Über Bricked] help!

Hello dear all,
I have managed to brick my LG G5 like an Old Mill Brick.
My LG G5 (lg g5 h850 titan) does not boot. It comes with an error message as follows: Your device is corrupt. It cannot be trusted and will not boot.
What I already did to Unbrick:
Tried to unlock the OEM. No way from USB Debugging as I cannot go into OS.
Tried unlock the OEM from fastboot (remote: oem unlock is not allowed).
Tried to flash some things like (boot.img, system.img) even adb sideload stuff. Nothing works. I cannot flash anything because (flashing not allowed) because OEM is not unlocked, but cannot unlock the OEM because it is not allowed. WHAT in the brick do I have to do now?
Cause of the brick of the bricks:
The LG G5 was on LineageOS, all stable and solid. When a prompt appeared telling me that I have to update the OS. So I was like yeah ok whatever. BUT, it did from OTA. I also had a specific LineageOS APP for updating the OS. After some minutes (updating) I immediately panic and started worrying. BECAUSE, I knew what time it was (my device is dead). I wanted to turn my phone off but it was already in Recovery (TWRP). So I just hit cancel. BUT after booting up the LG G5 that corrupt device error appeared and I cannot manage to get rid of it.
Please I need your help! I also watched and tried (2+ hours) to manage to solve this via Google and different links and Unbrick guides but nothing happens. I cannot unlock the OEM because it is not allowed. I cannot flash anystuff because the OEM is not unlocked.
Update: So, there is no Recovery System present. No stock Recovery, No TWRP. And I think no OS either. So only thing that is present is the bootloader screen smh.

No If I hold the volume down button and Power and when the LG Logo appears I release the power off and press again nothing happens. It goes again into that error. I can go in bootloader but can't do anything with adb or fastboot.
I think TWRP is gone too :/
You should be able to get into download mode. Hold the volume up button with phone fully powered down. While you hold the volume up button insert the usb cable. Then you can flash the full system kdz with LGUP
