White spot on screen/lcd - Honor 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi i bought my honor 7 over a month ago and it was working fine until today. It was in my pocket and had a very very light fall on my foot when i bent forward and then on to the floor. There was no damage to the body or the screen, i had a hard case and standard screen protector which came pre installed on my phone so there was no scratch nothing as the fall was pretty light. Everything seemed fine but now i saw a white spot on the lcd in the middle, its not on the screen i think its on the LCD although im not sure. How can i solve it

Bring it back where you bought it for repair and hope for warranty.
The white dot is a busted pixel.

[Q] Is this screen damage or digitizer damage?

I got my pebble blue GS3 a week ago. It was used, but in pristine condition, with a scratch-less back and front. Since day one, I've been using a rubber back protector for the phone, which covers the back as well as the sides completely.
Today, I dropped my phone from pocket height on the floor, and picking it up I didn't notice any scratches or cracks and the phone worked perfectly fine. The phone was in the back protector as always, so I didnt think any thing of it and put it back in my pocket.
A few hours later, sitting on my laptop, I picked up my phone to make a call and noticed the golden colored discoloration in the bottom right corner of the phone (see attached pictures). I assume this was the corner on which the phone was dropped.
The discoloration appear to be air bubbles, stuck inside the screen. When I press the corner of the bubble, it shifts slightly and changes shape as air bubbles under screen protectors do. When I press it really hard, the golden starts disappearing and becomes blue just like the rest of the phone. The screen and touch works completely perfectly, and there is absolutely no difference in the quality of the AMOLED. From this, I assumed that the digitizer is fine, but I cant for the life of me figure out how these bubbles formed and why they wont go away
I searched for hours, but couldn't find a single post with the same problem. I would love to hear some ideas to try and get rid of this discoloration. I've barely had this phone for a week, and seeing it ruined already makes me sad
If it cant be fixed, I guess the final solution would be to get the front glass replaced. But before that, I would like to try any and all suggestions that you guys might want to throw my way
The glass is glued to the digitizer whit some sort of gel.
Your glass has come off the digitizer and form air bubbles.
The only way to restore it is change the glass and digitizer.
Maybe a really tight case can solve it when it pushes the glass to the digitizer.

I was planning on getting a heat gun somehow, and heat the corner at 180F. It is said its the temperature at which the gel between the front glass and the digtizer melts or something, and becomes easy to seperate.
Do you think this would work? There is just a golden colored bubble, and it isnt affecting the working of the digitizer in any way. It is just next to the back button, and the button works absolutely perfectly.
Still waiting for any more suggestions on how to fix this Would also appreciate if someone could link me to someone with the same problem as this. I swear I've searched for hours and didnt find anything.. I can't be the only one in the world
The golden color is the top film from the digitizer.
So I don't think a heat gun is doing the job.
You can try but be very careful not to damage it more.
Wish you good luck.

You are not alone. My S4 have the same issue, and the screen bezel is thiner than the S3... Started a couple weeks ago just after a visit to the carrier tech support, was there for unknow poor signal issue, solved by a SIM replacement and reprogramming. I know they dropped on the floor or on a work table/desk it as is "naked" without the protective case... Came back after a couple of days when I noticed the "stain" on right bottom corner and they said they handle the devices careful also have rubber pads on floor and tables to protect in the event of an "accidental drop"... So they will not replace for free, only via insurance and I have to pay a difference $$$
Anyhow, after that I dropped it so bad on rough concret right on that corner, protective case do they work but I think that corner took a good shock... I do massage the spot and it gone away for a couple of days then come back. I don't k know if temperature changes affect as it could be moisture from condesation penetrating the thin edge between bezel and screen...
I will try different cases to see if it can mask the damage until I can afford the insurance diference $ then will replace or maybe upgrade my phone...

ZU Screen is easily broken, is that true?

I'm currently using a S4 but considering switch to ZU. My fr owned ZU but he told me that screen is just very easily to get a crack on it. He aslmost do nothing, just take it out from his pocket. I did some google and found that many people had the same problem.
Darn, I LOVE the big screen on ZU so much.

I've dropped mine twice on to concrete once from just over 1m and the second time from almost 2m from the cab of my 6 1/2 ton 4x4 truck.
The second time did have a flipcover on to save it - neither time ended in a broken screen
I too have drop my ultra twice ones from my bike while riding and another time I drop it. The Basel maybe scratch but the screen intact
I cracked my screen a few months back (a week after I got it) and I didn't even drop it! No idea how it happened, considering it was in my pocket when it happened, but 3 months and $360 later, I got it back and bought an Incipio case and tempered glass screen protector and it hasn't happened again.

Yeah, some people will get a bad one, and I assume Sony has fixed this "issue" on the newer ones.

I cracked my screen while in my pocket. I actually dis assembled my phone today and was surprised by the build. The phones frame is actually poly carbonite plastic with aluminum trim added to the sides. The top and bottom trim is also poly carbonite I'm guessing for the anttenna signal. I'm gonna make a post of my phone disassembly. But the main reason for screen cracking is cause the phone is so big and so thin. The screen glass looks to only be 1- 1.5mm thick so when it flex the glass cracks.

The official Z Ultra wear & tear thread

The ZU is nearing its 2 year birthday, I've had mine for about 8 months now. So far I have been more than happy with it, although I do have to say I'm quite disappointed with the build quality. To be more specific, the paint job of the aluminium/plastic parts. It literally starts to fall off/rub away, whereas I still baby my ZU. This puzzles me and tells me there is nothing brushed about the 'aluminum (is it plastic?), just an ordinary paint job. Also, I've noticed that the material is rather weak, getting dents easily.
What is your experience concerning the wear & tear of this device?
I must agree that the paint of the aluminium parts is rather weak, my 5 months old ZU already got some of it torn. In addition it gets easily bended, when I put my phone on a table or sth the right bottom corner is like 1mm over the surface. And it scratches a lot, especially the back, seriously I'm only putting it in or from the pocket with no keys or anything and it looks like some really angry cat wanted to play with it. However the front is untouched, despite using pencil a lot to navigate, but the oleophobic coating have gone just after a month and because of it random touches appears. Aparr from these, I have no complaints and sorry for my English, not my native lang
Regards
I bought my second Z Ultra today
The screen on my July 2013 ZU broke with my thighs pressure while I was driving. I thought it was safe but it cracked.
Service centre in India wanted Rs. 10400 to replace screen. Grey market Rs. 8000. And it would lose waterproofing after replacement. New Z Ultra is Rs. 18500. So I bought my second ZU today (Feb 15 make)
Last time a Leather cover was given free but this time its DK30 magnetic dock which is good. I will keep check on price for screen and when it drops I will replace my broken ZUs screen and gift it to my wife who is using my old Note 1
My new ZU is on 4.4.4 so I am thinking if I should upgrade to Lollipop or not. I dont like Lollipop. I used it on Moto E2 and it looks crap.
I have two Ultra and both are in mint condition. No scratches, nothing. Not a single noticeable defect. They move along in cases but still. Have not experienced any denting or anything else that would put them in a worse position so I am perfectly happy with the quality.
I think mine is just over a year old now
Tons of scratches on the back, and some on the front (i don't use a case or screen protector)
I've got it running the latest slimkat and I've got no complaints with regards to this OS
Might be moving onto the Samsung s6
I use a book style cover to protect mine, and it's still in quite good condition. I reckon on having to buy a new cover every 4 months as the plastic frame which holds the ZU cracks or breaks, particularly at the corner where the USB socket is present and there's not enough plastic to be strong.
There's a ding on the corner near the USB connector where I dropped it and the case's missing plastic wasn't able to protect it.
I haven't removed the anti-shatter plastic film on front or back. You can't see the fine pattern of scratches on the front when the phone is turned on. Sometimes I clean the screen with a slightly damp towel, and if I rub hard it polishes out the scratches a bit.
Battery life is still good, I don't think it's diminished too much. Sony have always had good battery technology (apart from when they had exploding laptop batteries!).
Overall then my XZU has been a good phone and I've had good value out of it as I use it all the time - I don't have a tablet, I go straight for a laptop if I need to do proper work.
The XZU is my phone, ebook reader, email reader, news reader, podcast & music player, GPS mapper, instant messaging console (G hangouts), shopping assistant (checking prices in shops with barcode scanner), movie viewer (netflix), chromecast controller (netflix) and occasionally acts as a game console.
My backplate cracked so I used the extended warranty I bought with the phone to fix it.
Sony said they couldn't replace it because its discontinued so they bought out my warranty and phone for the total amount I paid. So I got a free ultra basically.
I fixed the backplate myself. I'd really like to fix the faux aluminum edges. They sell them online but u don't want to go in blind and dissect my phone.
Almost mint here (everything is perfect except that the screen ASF is shinning just a little less than the back one) after eight months. I have two cases, the plastic one I use 95% of the time and the Krusell leather book one that I only use when I think I need an extra protection.
USB protective flap
The Z Ultra has one of the best build qualities IMHO:good: . I do not have a scratch, paint job issue etc. Only problem I had after a year of use was the USB protective flap:crying:. Until it was ok, I used to wash the phone whenever it got dirty. Although the usb protective flap is available on ebay, I'm skeptical about opening, fearing it might lose the original build. If anyone has any ideas - please share.
I put screen protector on my replacement XZU when the one I purchased was replaced under warranty. Only problem is stuff building up in the cracks; dirt, dust, etc. builds up in the cracks of the body, and I HATE that. I also have the ? lens attachment case that I leave on all the time, where the two upper corners have cracked off.

I don't think you have to dissect your phone for the USB flap only.
Just buy a new one on eBay and replace it by fitting the string attached into its hole. ?
Edit: to stay in topic, my Ultra is a D1 unit, exchanged like one month later for another brand new under warranty, and it's been y daily driver since.
Paint have come off of 3 out of 4 corners, but other than that, the phone is pristine.
You should see my old GS3 (which now has my mother in law): all plastic-aluminum-painted edges are broken in several points, there's no paint on the on/off button anymore, plastic back cracked... ?
Overall, I'm super happy and my phone is still as elegant as was when I first opened the box. ?
My screen got hairline cracks twice. Sony repaired it free under the warranty. I also purchased 3 off ebay with cracked screens for under $100 each. I got them repaired through sony for free. $$$$

the usb flap is one easy replacemnt. just pull out the existing one neatly just a little pressure, make sure to hold the extension plastic that connects to the flap rather than the flap itself. When you get the replacement just insert the new replacement the same way you pulled out the old one:good:

I ordered the flap of eBay and replaced it as per your instructions. Jiffy - my ZU is back to being new. Thanks!
Have been using Z Ultra for almost 1.5 years now but this is my 3rd Ultra. First one was silver color and I used it for about a year and since the paint in the side had peeled off, sold it and bought Lumia 1520 but screen was not upto my satisfaction (Size-wise), so again bought Z ultra Black color. Unfortunately, within a week, my kid threw moto360 and it fell on the ZU screen, it cracked and touch is not working (Thank God, nothing happened to Moto360). I Checked with Sony as it was hardly a week old but since it was physical damage, they said it will cost around $200 to replace the screen
Instead of that, I went and bought a new one for around ˜ $250 during Christmas offer. It has slight scratches on the back as I dont like to use back protection while the front is in pristine condition. Eagerly waiting for p8Max/LeTV Max now, provided it is in my budget!

I'm with you there, don't rule out the Mediapad X2 either There is a plastic film on the back, which you can easily peel off. Try it out You can stick on a tempered glass sheet on there easily afterwards.

I dropped my 6P on concrete & barely any damage

This phone is tough I don't know why people are claiming it is bending or breaking easily.
Last night I dropped my phone from face height onto concrete. A loud bang as it hit the ground and the Sim card came flying out. I assumed it was dead.
Picked up the phone and no broken glass anywhere. Not even a scratch.
Popped the sim back in and it is working fine.
Only two little chips in the paint job on one corner of the phone from that brutal drop. Posted pics of the little cosmetic damage on top right of phone.
Tested camera and no issues. Can't believe this huge screen and the camera glass survived a five+ foot drop onto concrete in the rain!
Sorry photo quality is lacking. I had to use my wife's iPhone to take the pics
mine folded in half then did a back spin and blew up into a million pieces, this was after a lighter was put to the screen accidentally just before i dropped it
On a serious note, good to see that it can withstand a bit of damage! I have mine in a case and a glass screen protector so hopefully im covered

For the same reason you just claimed it's tough. There's lucky, unlucky, and somewhere in between. One thing I've learned about the internet is no one likes the middle option. Either the phone is durable, or the phone is trash, but never the middle. Things are assumed based on one event on either side of the spectrum.
That's good to see actually but I'm still too worried to use it without a case. It looks like it was a corner drop too, those are the worst!

That's how you know it's real
I've dropped mine three times so far.
Twice onto carpet and once onto floorboards probably from about two feet each time.
Haven't got a mark..
Not saying its indestructible but its definitely not delicate
So you're telling me you dropped you phone and it didn't shatter the gorilla glass, or bent in half as a result.
This will surely drive those people freaking out about the quality of the build nuts. Lol

I've dropped mine 3-4 times from 1m. Back glass has a crack in the middle now not visible very good but the glass panel in the back definetely splitted in 2. No influence on function and it holds in olace for now...

All the cool kids keep the stickers on the phone. It's like the nerd equivalent of keeping the sticker on your baseball hat.
you are in good luck, i will put on a case as soon as i get mine
But interwebs sez fone desentigrates on contakt.
I think since the front glass is recessed a bit it would take a big drop directly on the glass to shatter. So basically you have to be unlucky
I dropped mine yesterday onto the kitchen floor from at least 4 feet, probably higher. No damage at all, not even a scratch. I have a case and screen protector on order, but they haven't arrived yet.
It seems like I drop every phone I get before I can get a case on it.

This happened to me once. I had a Nexus 5 and MotoX 2013. Was testing them to decide which I liked best. I was using the twist to launch feature showing off to some friends and the Moto slipped from my hands as I was saying something about how grippy it was. Little did I know, the case I ordered was delivered that day and was sitting in my mailbox. MotoX was fine just dinged on the corner.
Since then I've gotten all my cases before the phones arrived. My 6P. Hasn't been naked since I unboxed it. I just slide part of the case open when I sim swap lol

Is it diffficult to replace whole LCD screen?

My sister's Le Max 2 screen is broken and fingerprint scanner doesnt work :/. It started having touch screen problems and weird lines and is now dead. I ordered a replacement screen off aliexpress. Was wondering how difficult is it to remove broken screen and install screen? I saw some videos, but none are in english (mostly indian or chinese or spanish vids). Also, I ask local cell repair shops, but they only know major brands. It kinda of sucks she has bad experience with this phone with the screen and fingerprint scanner.
My Le Max 2 still works great and no problems.
Also, videos I saw seem easy, however putting it back together such as using glue or tape to hold the new screen in place? Which do you use? I don't have a heat gun I saw some vids heating the sides before removing screen. Any help or tips or videos would be appreciated.

As far as I know, you'll go nowhere without a heat gun, since the screen is heavily glued. You should look for more videos, since (as far as I remember from reading here) it's very easy to break the original screen or the replacement if you don't do things properly.

Nope A hair dryer is to weak for this job, in the same way a heat gun would be too much to dry your hair (you'd most probably get severely burnt).
i pulled mine off and it broke!
i used a heatgun and it does help but you have to be carefull to not overheat it. you can destroy parts of the body (upper and lower side are not metal) and the screen easy by overheating. next time i use an infrared thermometer. i think a hairdryer can do it, depends on how hot it gets. if your screen is already broken, there's nothing else to worry about. i just used heat and a 6€ suction pump (very strong). next time i know better, i wont ruin another one.

edit: look at the black stuff at the picture below. its not a hardened glue, more like window putty but more sticky (if heated up at least). if you put the old screen back it will stick together strong. a new screen may need some adhesive or tape. my screen will arrive in a few days, i plan to use double sided foam tape. i think 2-3 millimeters thickness will match. i will put 4 pieces into the corners and one in the middle (if neccessary at all).
when opening it, i inserted a razorblade (just 2-3 millimeters) and carefully cut around the screen while lifting a bit with the pump. if you pull with too much force it will break! you will not see it untill the backlight of the screen is on.
If your screen is already broken you have one less concern.
It's not that hard to replace screen, I have removed mine when I was repairing FP scanner, you can definitely do it with hair dryer, you will need a suction cup (usually they send one with replacement screen) and a razor to help lift screen also you will need double sided sticky tape.
When i was changing my FP sensor i damaged screen and had some dead pixels about 2x1 mm it was probably from heat or dent on some screws because I wasn't really careful.
Ps: replace FP sensor if you open your phone it costs about 6-7$ on aliexpress.

how is the quality of your screen compared to the factory one?
is it original or third party?
i spent slightly more because it looks absolutely like the original (sticker and labeled O-film on the backside), at least on the pictures i've seen.

For now I haven't noticed any difference in screen, it is quality one but I doubt that is original.
Also replacement FP is good working for 3-4 months now, it only has some problems when it's greasy.
i must correct myself. the one i ordered is even cheaper. well, maybe they are all from the same factory.

I would rate it as a quite difficult - very difficult repair as they go. Not impossible but no doddle either.
it depends on what tools/technique you use.
i would rate it pretty easy although i ruined the first screen.
to my defence i must say that i did it late in the evening after a few beers ;o)
i just couldn't wait and then regretted it...
now i have 2 x820. that's ok, will be back in job in a week, working as it-servicedesk employee/field technician. one for spare, just in case...

Yea, original screen is dead/with few cracks already. Yea I bought one LCD say it comes with tools with the tape I think. Also, is it hard replacing the FP reader, would I have to dissemble more stuff to get to it? Otherwise I'll just replace screen.
Actually it's easier than replacing the screen, you will need to remove battery and motherboard to get to it, but it's nothing very hard. Screen replacement and opening phone takes most time. So as I said before, if you're opening phone already, replace both things screen and FP.
got my screen today. there is no difference in quality as far as i can tell.

How did you put screen together, did you use tape or glue? My LCD screen came in today came with tools and some tape, but debating if I should wait and order fingerprint sensor.
Heyyo, I just replaced mine with this one I ordered and haven't noticed any quality differences and still says 1440x2560 resolution

It also came with the capacitive keys which is awesome since mine stopped working when I broke my screen.
I used a heatgun and a super cheap suction cup and some rubber gloves because damn the phone was hot.
It didn't come with the double sided adhesive tape so I ordered this one

It was really easy to cut and put it back together. The only part that was hard was that initial heating the screen enough and separating it from the body of the device.

mine also came with tools, tape and aven a screen protector. i used the tape in one piece. it sticks together strong. if you are going to replace the fp sensor, then don't use the tape now. you will most likely break your new screen when you pull it off a second time.

I replaced both LCD and FP sensor. Broke my LCD while attempting to fix FP sensor the first time. Use a cheap small suction cup not the puller. I broke mine using the big puller. Also no need to heat it up. Few drops of 99% Isopropyl alcohol along the seams loosen up the adhesive. This is safer way to do it than heat gun method. FP sensor works great now but I lost my compass feature. Anybody can confirm their compass is still working after changing the LCD and FP sensor?
works after replacing screen, dont know about fp sensor.

The fingerprint scannor that I got, and replaced does not work. Is there certain way to install the fingerprint sensor??
