Xposed on remix os - Remix OS for PC

Is it possible to install xposed on Remix OS?

Nope. Goes into bootloop.

I've copied all x86 xposed files to system, its booted, but show notif "xposed installed, but not active".
It's also prevent me from installing any app.

Does not matter. Even if you do copy it, it wont work.
You wanna try the better method? Here.
1) Press Alt+F1. You will activate the terminal. Main terminal, not terminal emulator or something like that.
2) type "cp -avR /sdcard/xposed_data /system"
3) This copies all the xposed data to the system, where it is supposed to be.
4) Reboot.
5) Praise Altman, as you get to witness the bootloop, as xposed is not supported.
On the other hand, if you use android 4.4 rc3 from the android x86 project website, you can install xposed using the echo and chmod commands.

Read my post above yours. Google or search this XDA forum. I am being lazy and not finding it for you.

Thanks I think
I do not mind doing some work to get exposed going so far I have tried modifying the system files using Ubuntu and And mounting the system image to no avail. The previous posts in this thread would suggest that it is not possible at the moment I do not believe it. Orion what I am asking is for you to point me to the correct information for accomplishing the task of installing xposed on remix os.

And I am saying search this forum.

its all about "Symbolic link" if we know witch files we should create for then that will be easy

More info
Along those lines how can I take a xposed zip made for x86 5.1 and arrange it in the system files of remix os keeping all file permissions and symbolic links the way they need to be and updating the binary if anyone knows of a script I could run in terminal from Ubuntu with the remix is file system mounted that would be great.

Do you think scripts come from the linux god? lol. If a method existed, and a manual method would have to exist in order for a script of the process to exist, someone would have posted it by now. Scripts are nothing more than automation of multiple manual steps. So please, unless a method has already been posted or you're willing to work out all of the proper steps, don't ask for a script that will do it for you. I too want xposed on remix, but am I willing to put in the time to attempt to get it working? No. Not right now at least. So I don't bother asking someone else to do it for me. This is XDA. Asking for OTAs and asking for something you could search for are both frowned upon here. Sorry if that seems harsh, but until you've at least attempted to develop something, don't just assume it's a walk in the park for others to do so. Especially with something as complex as xposed.
Thanks. Hope I didn't startle you.

systemless xposed might be the best route: patch ramdisk.img and create and mount /data/xposed.img

it fully works on 32-bit android-x86 MM builds. haven't tried 32-bit remix yet.

Hi,
This is one of the ways you can try to Dual Boot Remix OS if the others failed for you. Using this method, you can choose to boot either to Windows or to Android each time you restart your computer. This method is safe and won't harm your windows files in any ways. No media inside your computer will get deleted.
Note: No EasyBCD or EasyEFI Softwares used.
Requirements:
The Remix OS Updated Version 2.0 (Released on 25th January)
The Android x86.
Android Installer:
Click this XDA thread for EFI Devices.
You also need a 7zip software for extracting files etc.
Now, get the full tutorial from here: Dual Boot Remix OS with Windows.
This tutorial also has screenshots to help you in every step.
Note: In the tutorial I have given download link to Remix OS which is the older version, please ignore that and download the newer version of the Remix OS I gave here above.
Thanks.

Remix OS for PC & Phoenix OS

I am writing from Phoenix OS installed in a separate parition in my Linux laptop. (I usually call it Linux Box.) Only a few days ago I found out about Remix OS. Since then, I had installed it in a USB stick, in separate partitions in a Windows Box and in 2 Linux boxes. In the mean time, I found Phoenix OS too. It has only an .exe file for installing to a PC, meaning you have to use a Windows box for that. I used that to install Phonix OS to a USB stick. Today, I was thinking I should try to install it to a separate partition in my Linux box. I installed it the same way as I wrote here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65943247&postcount=6 I haven't tried to install the Play Store yet. Only reporting that it is installed in an ext4 partition.
Have anyone else got Phoenix OS installed this way? I am thanking you guys for all the help I got from your posts here!
nice
I copied the Phoenix folder from the USB stick to the hard disk partition (sda6) and then unsquashed the system.sfs.
sudo unsquashfs system.sfs

and then copied the system.img from the squashfs-root to the Phoenix folder and deleted the squashfs-root folder and the system.sfs file. Then, created a menu entry in /etc/grub.d/40_custom.
menuentry 'Phoenix OS' --class android-x86 {
insmod part_msdos
set root='hd0,msdos6'
search --file --no-floppy --set=root /Phoenix/system.img
linux /Phoenix/kernel root=/dev/ram0 androidboot.hardware=Android_x86 androidboot.selinux=permissive CMDLINE
initrd /Phoenix/initrd.img
}
And, then did
sudo update-grub

,
rebooted and booted into Phoenix OS.
I didn't succeed in installing Google Play. Maybe, one of you would be able to.

Today, I reinstalled Phoenix OS in another partition afresh. And, once it initialized itself, I found Play Store, Play Store Fix, SuperSu, Terminal, Voice recorder already installed. There could be an OTA update is happening some way. The Terminal accepts su. I wish I knew the terminal comands. It would be nice, if you guys would try to install Phoenix OS, so we could discuss/help each other.

Phoenix OS as only OS
I use Phoenix OS as my only OS on my Thinkpad T61p. I uninstalled Windows 10 and only have Phoenix now. I also tried Remix OS but I find that Phoenix is the better solution, it´s better organized and has a better compatibility with GApps and a 100% working Play Store.

[POOL][REQUEST] Official Remix OS installer/installation guide for Linux

Request - official Remix OS installer/installation guide for LinuxCurrently there is no official guide or installer from Jide that would help Linux users install Remix OS next to their system.
We "install" it manually by copying the specific files and modifying Grub accordingly, but we risk having problems with OTA updates, because many of us don't know if our "installation" method will fit the OTA system.
Other method we use is applying INSTALL=1 parameter to the grub menuentry after booting Remix OS USB. This method is also not documented or officially supported by Jide.
I'd like the Linux community to decide wheter it wants an offical Remix OS installer or a official guide on how to install it by-hand.
Please vote in the pool and share your thoughts.
@HypoTurtle already pointed out few useful information regarding the subject, but we'd like som official guidelines from Jide:
HypoTurtle said:
It is that simple, from initrd.img - before handoff to ramdisk / chroot to android - the OTA patches /mnt/$SRC/system.img [extracting it from system.sfs], /mnt/$SRC/kernel, /mnt/$SRC/initrd.img and /mnt/$SRC/ramdisk.img then it remakes the grub.cfg in $REMIX0S_EFI.
If you have the SRC= set correctly the OTA will apply correctly - if you have REMIXOS_EFI= set correctly the grub.cfg should update correctly as well
I don't know how different [if any] legacy/bios handles updates to grub configs

Personally I think doing it manually is more foolproof and less destructive. All you'd be getting from an 'installer' is a dump of the imgs to $SRC a 40_custom file made and grub update run. And thats if every linux user uses grub and if they don't that update grub doesn't break anything

The only way an OTA would fail [other than modifying .img or not using a system.sfs] is if something needs to be added to grub.cfg/menu.lst that's the only thing that the OTA can't/shouldn't get access to if not installed with the 'official' installer
I guess Linux doesn't need OS installer cuz you can install via grub and ready go to.
Sent from my HM NOTE 1LTEW using Tapatalk
I also think Linux installer should be available. Many Remix users come from Linux distros and an easy installer would be very useful.
@itsAril and others - it's not that simple. Linux needs an official installer in order to make the OTA updates fully functional. System needs to be installed in a specific way that allows OTA system to detect and update it's files accordingly. That's why often OTA fails when "installed" from Linux.

@HypoTurtle but why would Linux users need to do that when Windows users don't? It sure isn't hard, but official tools prevent problems and misunderstandings. One of important rules of making software is "make it foolproof".
Of course thanks for the info on the OTA system.

I like clover for themes(and other reason)but for simplicity systemd-boot is the way to go for uefi.
For ota's all you would need is to copy kernel and initrd.img from the src directory to the esp rename starting with remixos_

Had anyone tried AudioFX on Remix OS for PC?

I don't know how to install it correctly. Doesn't work for some reason. I probably missing some files. Been trying to fix some games sounds. For example Galaga Wars.
Let me know there are others to try out. Just make sure tell me what all files I need in order those to work.
There are threads about Viper4Android on RemixOS in which people discuss AudioFX.
@Dunard please stop multiposting. You keep doing it everywhere. Edit your previous post instead.
Sorry I didn't know there a rule on posting again. Seem silly though. Anyway I will look into Viper4Android.
Edit: It doesn't work. It did crash Remix OS. I had to reboot Remix OS.

it works flawless i can confirm, you need to install cm eleven music version 2.0 and AudioFX 1.8 but before that give root permission via es file explorer or any other file explorer but i recommend es file explorer and unfortunately 4.1/5.1/7.1 speakers doesn't works it maybe beacuse of the driver as 4.1 and above speakers relies on driver for example - realtek

[How-To] Install Windows on Android version [YB1-X90L/F]

Hello guys!
I'm starting this thread as I managed to install win10 on my X90L (Android) YogaBook
It was not easy to find a way to fix the ACPI error but it is possible!
Will update this post in a few hours with a guide on how to do it yourself.
UPDATE: link to the guide -> poz1.com/windows-on-android-lenovo-yogabook/
PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU CONTINUE YOU WILL END UP WITH A YOGABOOK WITHOUT INPUT DEVICES!!!
(EXTERNAL KEYBOARD WILL BE NEEDED) AND NO ANDROID INSTALL!!!
So far i got almost everything working except:
- Touchscreen
- Keyboard
- Webcam in the keyboard panel (the other one works fine)
- NFC
- Backlight Control (added 25/5/2018)
I'm getting very near to have the touch and the keyboard working though
P.s. In attach you find the outputs from 3DMark - IceStorm Extreme (default settings), would be much appreciated if someone with the real Win version shared its score
Any chance of posting you work to date. Got an X90F just crying out for Windows.

OK,
So far so good. I get to the amending of the of aml. But keep getting.
Intel ACPI Component Architecture
ASL+ Optimizing Compiler/Disassembler version 20180508
Copyright (c) 2000 - 2018 Intel Corporation
iASL: Segmentation Fault
iASL: Terminating
To clarify the process. Decompile the DSTDroid.aml, then insert the OperationRegion (GNVS, SystemMemory, 0x7B3CF000, 0x0369)
Field (GNVS, AnyAcc, Lock, Preserve)
{ etc.. } section from the DSTDroid.dsl and use it to replace the equivalent section in the DSTWin.dsl in your files.
Then compile the DSTWin.dsl with the
iasli -ta DSDTWin.dsl
command.
This is how I am reading it, but have not managed to get it to work yet.
It decompiles with the two errors you mention, but wont recompile no matter how I try it.
I am using Notepadd++ so its not hidden characters.
Any thoughts, and thanks again for your efforts on this.

Hello Broomfundel,
I never got that error, but it seems to be a problem of the ASL Compiler build not of your file.
I am using Mac so I have another build, if you want to post the file I can compile it for you .
Otherwise you can try an older release or to build the tool from source maybe?

BTW. I am enjoying this. So thanks again.

With the -ta option I get both the .hex and the .aml file but you can try -tc if it doesn't work. Maybe due to the different build
P.s. (for other people that may incur in this) If you don't get the output files check that you have as last line of the terminal

OK, I am getting 7 errors. My current theory is that the DSTDWin.dsl will only compile with the same version number of the compiler it was decompiled with. I have attached my DSDTDroid.dsl so you can have a go. At least it will prove I got things right up to that point. Might be worth posting the original DSTDWin.aml for me to try this end.
If we are lucky it might turn out that the patched DSTDWin.aml files are consistent across the same model devices.
So... It seems both pen mode and keyboard mode of holo keyboard won't work... Am I right?
It's sad that if they won't work even we install the drivers from the lenovo website

Hi,
KernelFlinger is opensource and come with an installer, it should be pretty simple to install it.
Right now I don't have my YogaBook as I am travelling but I can try in the next few days

Have you tried with the ISO from this forum with the Windows injected drivers? Here https://forum.xda-developers.com/yoga-book/how-to/windows-guide-creating-windows-10-t3718823
As Poz1 is obviously busy at the moment. Can anyone else get the DSTDWin.aml file for me to try and decode?
Thanks
Sorry guys I've been busy with university

There you go I'm also updating the files DSTDWin of my blog with one with some fixes Well they depend on the settings you use in your Bios (that's why Windows may not boot after install, it changes some parameters (the wait time of the bios and the default boot partition)). When you use the builtin one is the bios that "updates" it for you but for now we need to do it by hand If we are going to end with everything working we can release a patched "Win" bios and everything will be simpler

I know There something in the DSDT (the file that tells the os which and where your pc components are) that has to be fixed to make Windows see these parts correctly

Thanks for all your doing on this. You have already got further than anyone else who tried.
let me know if you have more problems
I have added a 3DMark test in the first post for those that are interested in how it performs

Just another Question, you as a Advance user, do you believe that we (yoga book Windows owners) can boot Android yb STOCK ROM ( i mean not the Android x86 based distros)?
Yes, but I think you would have to do the "reverse" DSDT injection (from win to android) as the official ROM has drivers for that components.
This means that, if you're lucky you would end up with our same problems (keyboard, pen and touch). If we don't fix that before
The problem with Android is that it is meant to be flashed on rom instead of being installed and this makes things more difficult.
It should be possible to flash the rom on an USB key, add grub and use it for DSDT injection like we do and see what happens.
Another problem is that the provided kernelflinger seems to have most of the security options enabled so 99% it will refuse to boot anyway.
Since it is opensource it should be possible to fix this anyway.
So yes, but it a loooong journey
