I have salt water damage to my and LG won't repair, that I am very frustrated with. I cannot seem to locate a motherboard part anywhere, anyone know where to get motherboard.
I have scoured the web and find every part but motherboard.
I could go with a cracked screen phone and swap motherboard but no go so far finding that either.
I tried to get a motherboard for my old M8... After months I Never found one... They don't sell motherboards...

So... I fumbled my phone today.... and I have a hairline crack down my screen.
Has anyone tried replacing the screens of these things so far? Know if it can be done/how easily? Where to get a new screen? Thanks guys... This is so sad!
I'm not sure where to get a repair but be wary of cell repair shops. There was a post not too long ago where someone went to a cell repair shop and the damaged SAMOLED screen was replaced with a regular LCD screen. I think warranty, insurance or Samsung might be the first places to check.
Well I bought the phone over craigslist... I think I may just try and buy another. :/
I'm working a couple shifts at a local restaurant this week. Worst case, 2-3 night's tips gets me a new phone. A local vibrant dev/modder hangs out there a lot, I'll let him look at it for me.

I think I'll give replacing the display a go. Anyone know a good website to buy one from?
Hey, I'm trying to help out my sister's boyfriend. He recently bought the Radar and the screen got cracked when it was dropped. They bought a replacement screen off ebay but they can't find instructions to replace it. I've tried to help them. I found nothing on google or on here. I've found videos and such for other HTC phones but not this one. I'm thinking either it may be too hard to replace on your own or maybe its just such a new phone that nobody has posted anything yet. If anyone can help her out i would really appreciate it.
I'm not sure if you would be able to replace it to be honest. Since it has a unibody design. If he just bought it from t-mobile he should be able to get it replaced.
If not he will need a set of torx screw drivers, a prying tool, tweezers, and a lot of time. I suggest recording the entire session so you know what screws go back where.
So my EVO 3D has the touchscreen dead on one side, accounting for a vertical band 1/5 the width of the screen.
It is still possible to do some things with the phone, but functionality of the device has really gone way down because of this.
Any idea if this is probably just a problem that can be resolved by reseating the touchscreen ribbon cable? There does not appear to be any physical damage.
I don't have warranty left on the device, so I don't have any other options?
I would try to reseat it first. You can usually find a digitizer on Amazon cheap, and if you have any hardware repair experience, its a snap. Just YouTube "digitizer replacement evo 3d". Probably costs under $20 for the part, plus tools. Get the combo with tools and adhesive included, and thank yourself later ;j
Oh, and save any packaging its sent with, in case they send a dud.

Mine had the exact same issue and it was the digitizer. Sprint said replacing just the digitizer is hard on the 3d, so they replaced the entire screen. I have insurance so it was free. You may want to take it to them (or your carrier) to see what the repair will entail and cost. I think the cost if you don't have insurance is $35, so it might be worth having them fix it.
Has anyone had any luck getting this phone repaired out of warranty? Im having a hell of a time finding a place that can/will do repairs on this device, most of them cant even get parts.... The last HTC i had also had a blown speaker.. I was able to order a new speaker on ebay for a few bucks and replace it my self in about 15mins. Obviously not the case with this one
The cost really outweighs the option of the repair. I had my first one 3 days before the screen cracked. Now im not sure about now but the glass alone for the repair was going to cost the retailer 200.00. You could probably buy a newer or new One S off Craigslist or Ebay for less than that. Turn around and sell the broken one to.an.electronics shop for parts. That's what I did. I work for T-Mobile so getting a new one wasn't a problem. There's a guy on here that asked for a donor One S. He is experienced with glues and thinks he can find a way to open it. If he can then a repair may be an option. Most electronics.stores will just say the it was not built to be dismantled and refuse to work on it. Good luck man
Well guys it was a windy day in Chicago and a paper bag hit me in the face and I dropped my phone. My s4 has the MDK bootloader, and after research and it seems that if I send my phone in to samasung I'm sure I'm I'm sure to get a locked bootloader back- m_k 2 version or other. The glass facture is minimal and is not interfere with the digitizer and has not discolored anything on lcd/ amolded screen. The phone functions perfectly.
I don't want to send it to Samsung for glass replacement because they'll give me a locked bootloader. Ive heard at least.
Ive researched and the front glass is extremely difficult to replace without damaging the digitizer apparently n hard not to pull up the LCD which would cause me to have to buy the whole screen replacement digitizer and LCD included. 200 bucks.
Option a: send the phone to samsung for a screen replacement 200 bucks risk getting a locked bootloader.
Option b: replace the phone to my phone insurance possibly get a locked bootloader.
Replace the front glass myself and if I mess up about $200 and have to get a whole new LCD and then hope I can connect it.
Anyone ever replaced front glass before and the s4? The Loca glue way
Advise anyone?
This is a longshot but is it possible for me to create a boot image of my bootloader an odin it back via some workaround... if I get a new phone?
Or I could just live with the cracks in the screen but I'm afraid it's going to get worse. Front glass is $7 on amazon.

Okay I have had this before. If you want to make it so it doesn't seem like it has been rooted at least, I recommend you either do a no wipe or a full wipe with odin, and that should remove the root and everything to stock firmware. The only reason samsung does that is that you have your phone rooted, but with this, you may have a chance in becoming undetectable. This fix is extremely easy if you follow the instructions.
You can find this fix on the link below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2578209
Also, if they reject that, the only possible workaround is going to a shop and replacing the glass or to go to the Verizon store and probably get a new phone or have to pay 300 dollars for another one.
Let me know if this helps!

Option 4:
There are companies that replace the screen for not much more than the deductible from Verizon.
Google "smartphone repair" for your area.
I would not send it in to Verizon or Samsung for repair.
There is no guarantee you will get the same device back.
Also your long shot won't work.
If it would work, there would not be the people lamenting over how to unlock a bootloader.
At what angle did the paper bag hit your face?

Josh I was thinking the same thing... More details on the paper bag incident itself could yield better results.

Yes, yes, that's just plain science.

I will just say it took me few moments to realize it was a paper bag not a throwing star wielded by a ninja. We have some ninja problems in Chicago here.
I do appreciate the help guys , one more question I know my warranty is void by rooting my phone however in the past I have just odin back to stock firmware before sending it to insurance to replace . If I tried to replace the screen myself, would that also void any physical damage warranty cuz I opened the phone up myself? basically what I'm asking is if I took my phone apart would it be easy for them to tell if I mess up the screen replacement right?
This is my only worry because I know they don't really check flash counters but I'm thinking they would able to see if its been tampered with...

Warranty will be void if you try removing the screen yourself and if you mess it up, obviously depending on how exactly you mess it up, they'll definitely be able to tell. That's the risk of the time/money saved by doing it yourself.
