Hi guys I'm looking for some opinion to point me in the right direction.
Bought a Z2 from Ebay as "parts non working" when I got the phone, tried to charge it but didn't charge, after some reading saw a comment from a guy sayin' "cut a usb cable and make some kind of wireless charger", did it and the device started to charge, well once charged turned on device, made the set up and started to download update after update.
Once ended unplugged from the homemade charger and plugged to my laptop (W7) and just made nothing, not even on my cellphone (No charging led, no notification). After some read tryied the pc companion method and guess what DIDNT WORK, tryied the flashtool method and same thing, but the thing I noticed is when try to connect the device into flashmode the green led turn on for a second and turns off almost instantly.
Also the battery is draining to fast, like 1% every 6 min even if Im not using it tought was the home made charger but 3 days ago picked a magnetic cable to charge the phone and battery drain persists, Im using a 2 A Samsung wall adapter.
You think it may be a damaged USB port, battery or both? I'm bootloader allowed yes, thanks in advance.
AWESOME
Admin, please delete.
Thank you.

help with baterry not charging
you have to use the wall charger, charging with your computer is not enought power when the batterry is dead. the same thing happened to me.

Most computers should be able to charge the phone, unlike the iPad or those new Android Tablets. I actually have the same problem, for a while ago I can't charge my phone using the USB outlet of my PC or Mac (notebook or desktop). I recently upgraded to GB using one Kenneth's beta 4.5 ROM. Dunno if that has actually anything to do. I could charge before using a regular USB cable.
If you have a USB 3.0 port it will charge, but not on USB 2.0.
Best to just use the wall charger.
Today I had a bicycle accident and well, apart from my body damage I got my X10 probably killed. It suddenly hanged and after removing the battery and restarting it didn't even start up once. It doesn't let me enter flashmode, it doesn't show the green charging led.
Is the service repair the only way to go for me?
Just try to charge the battery seperately after doing that connect it to pc if it does then good and if not you might have a broken phn usb port

I cannot charge the battery separately since I don't have a battery charger, only USB one
buy a universal charger or go to sony care they will charge it for you as they did mine
I have a stock ATT HTC One that seems to have a ghost in it. I received this unit with a completely dead battery and after charging several days it finally started. The battery only showed about 30% charge but it was enough for me to install and test a sim card. Everything worked fine so I shut it down and forgot about it. Recently I picked it up again and charged it. I have it showing 83% on the battery but it will shut down within a minute of reaching the lock screen after start up. It does this no matter what I am doing with the phone. I tried plugging it in to my computer USB and it immediately shuts down and won't restart until I unplug it. Before this when it was working it would show a discharge status once it was plugged in to USB but my computer would recognize it and the phone recognized my computer. If I turned off the phone while plugged in it would flash the red LED and then it would glow steadily until it was unplugged. A battery check indicated that the battery was taking a charge at this time I would really appreciate any direction or suggestions as to what to try yo fix this
Thanks in advance and I really want to thank everyone who does all the great work here.

Hi, I saw your problem with your HTC One and it's the same problem that I'm having. Can you tell me the cable and charger you used to charge your phone? I've had it plugged in for 12 hours now and all it does is flash the red led. what does the led look like when it's actually charging? I'm suspecting that i'm using the wrong usb cable and charger.
Thanks,
It's supposed to be solid red when charging. Solid green when fully charged

I have this weird problem with my HTC touch pro 2...
A couple of years ago i bought 2 of these phones and i actually never used them until 2 weeks ago. (so brand new)
This, because i decided to flash them with android NAND ROM's which seemd to be working fine up until one point where i got this issue.
Some background info about the phone:
Both of them are HardSPL unlocked, have WinMo removed and instead have Anrdoid 2.3.7. installed. (which is working fine btw)
At first both of the phones seem to run fine and both of them where able to charge.
After a week of using the phones one of the phones stopped charging. (i tested some VOIP app from Aastra)
When the phone was powered on and the charger was plugged in, the Amber LED was lid but the battery was still draining... altho in the Android menu it stated "AC - adapter, Charging".
Because the charger i use is the original HTC charger which is brand new and so is the USB cable my first thought was.. well the battery could be defective since it has been in the box for some years..
At this point i changed the battery from one phone to the other to see if it would charge, but no luck still the same issue.
Then i replaced the AC adapter and USB cable with the ones from the other TP2, since that phone was charging fine...
Also no luck, the TP2 was still showing a Amber LED but did not charge at all.
After this i tried plugging in de USB cable in my PC to see if the PC would charge it, but as i expected, again no luck.
Then is switched off the phone and plugged in the AC adapter, the LED goes to Amber which indicates charging.
But now the weird thing, when i unplug the cable the LED remains amber !
And then the even MORE weird thing.... when i at this point remove the battery, wait 30 seconds and re-insert the battery the LED becomes amber right away !!
And when i trie to turn on the phone it does nothing, there is no respons at all to pressing the power button...
Just that amber LED....
Then i tried removing the SD-card and SIM, left the battery out for over an hour and tried to re insert the battery, but still the amber light goes on The AC-Adapter is not plugged in at this point !
At this point i was not sure anymore what to do, so i disassembled the phone to look if there was some bad / loose soldering on the USB plug.
But sadly enough i could not find any bad or loose soldering points, i also was not able to find any burnt or other bad looking circutes.
Then i reassembled the phone and made one last attempt to re-insert the battery, then the LED did not start to illuminate !
So for a verry short period of time i had good hopes that it was oke now... but then i plugged in the AC-adapter, the LED was amber again..
But the phone again will not turn on, and when i remove the battery and re-insert it it still shows the amber LED without the AC-adapter plugged in...
Right now i am at the point where i am not sure what to do anymore.
I was wondering if any of my fellow XDA visitors have experience with such an issue, or maybe even know a fix for this..
Some ideas to test or how to fix this are verry welcome ! :good:

I had a tp2 do something similar to this after it was hit with a power surge. Data would work, but no charging. Sadly the best suggestion at this point is to get a battery charger off ebay for like $5 and/or look for a replacement phone on Ebay/Craigslist. If the chip controlling the usb port is damaged it may work partially, and there is no way to repair it.

The chargers i got seem to be fine since i can charge my other TP2 with both of the chargers and cables.
I guess my only option is to leave it be.. cry... and move on with life...
Maybe, someone else has an other idea...

If you have a known good fully charged battery, and you can't make the phone work with it, then you sadly are probably out of luck.
That is a hardware failure, or a software failure requiring something along the lines of a jtag repair.
I was reading the text as though the phone would turn on with a charged battery, but wouldn't recharge the battery. I guess I misunderstood.
Hello,
I have Galaxy S2 and having some charging issue. Yesterday, when I plugged it in the wall charger, it didn't get charged (i.e. even the flash on battery was not coming up) and when I tried to restart the phone, it powered off but didn't switch on. I tried holding the power button to turn it on but it didn't. So, I pulled out the battery and left the cell for some time like 20 mins or so. After re-inserting the battery, it turned on but still was not getting charged. I tried to change the USB cable as well but nothing helped. I then tried to charge it via my Laptop it actually started the charging process but with error on Laptop saying "USB Device not recognized".
Today, I tried the wall charger again and here's I found something: when my phone is ON and I plug it in the wall charger it doesn't charge but as soon as I turn the phone OFF, my phone starts getting charged (Battery image comes on screen which usually comes when the phone is off). So, that's how I am charging my phone.
I went to the repair shop today, he said it's a charging port issue on which I have some doubts that why it is even charging in this way if it's a port issue. I just want to make sure if whatever he's saying can be somewhat true.
Can you please help me out? I would be really thankful to you.
I look forward to hearing from you soon!
Thank you!
PS: I tried to search about the port issues but I couldn't find anyone having this kind of issue so please!
The issues you have mentioned really do all point to a faulty USB board......it is common (with a faulty board) for some functionality to work while other functionality is lost. The part itself costs pocket change and is reasonably easy to DIY replace......
If you want to go down that path, check my profile for threads I've started.....you'll find a guide explaining exactly how to do it.
Just make sure to read and note the section on 'rev versions' it is VERY important to get the correct one......
