When I check in service menu there is ,,bootloader unlockable: NO''
I need to have root. If I use this guide (http://unlock-bootloader.net/how-to/unlock-bootloader-sony-xperia-z5-compact/ ) it will unlock bootloader? Also, there is NO in service menu but I have code from sony to unlock from their website/email. Help?

If it is Unlockable:No, then the bootloader cannot be unlocked. You are unlucky mate. However if you still try to unlock bootloader, I dunno what will happen. You will most likely end up with a bricked device
Can it be cause by Vodafone simlock/phone lock?

Vodafone might have their phones' bootloaders locked yes. But I doubt that unlocking the simlock would help. Those are two different things. But yes, some carriers lock the bootloaders of the phones
Thx

i have looked round for the answer myself, there seems to be alot of threads on this, all of them say no you can not unlock it unless using a payed method such as wotanserver also you most probably will need to sim unlock first, i think that then changes the status, well thats what i have read has happened to some, and a little something else the fw is the number such as 2.3.4 or 4.0.4, and the build number is the 4.1.b.431.
If you unlock it for any network using wotanserver it will unlock the bootloader aswell, I used them and it was fairly easy.

Hey everyone
I need a quick phone to last me a few months till my upgrade and the Neo V seems like a good deal, brand new for £70.
Now I never buy an android phone unless the bootloader can be unlocked. I understand that phones made after 12w14 cannot be unlocked or something? If the phone is made after 12w14 is there really no way to unlock it? It will be sim locked and I know it's necessary to unlock it to allow fastboot.
Basically can phones made after 12w14 be sim and bootloader unlocked?
Thanks

If you buy your phone brand new from an 'open' store than your phone should be sim unlocked.

If you want to know whether you can unlock your phone or not, here is an excerpt from Sony's forum.
1.First, you should confirm that it is possible to unlock the boot loader of your phone by checking the service menu. In your phone, open the dialler and enter *#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu.
2.In your phone, tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked.
The whole page is here: http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions
Thanks but the phone will almost certainly be locked to T-Mobile.
What I need to know is, if the manufacturing date is past 12w14 is there a way for me to sim unlock and then unlock the boot loader ?

If I'm not mistaken, there is but you've to pay for it as your status says :No
You may use SeTool2
Or Wotanclient for doing so

Its not about warranty, its about development. You wont be able to unlock bootloader and flash custom roms, if you dont care, then go ahead, there are no other differences, since you can flash generic firmware and get rid of vodafone stuff if you want to.

Christ.. Please pay attention, i wont repeat again. You CANT unlock bootloader, and you CANT flash custom made roms, as in the ones you can find in development section. What you can do, is flash generic sony firmware, basically same vodafone rom just without all vodafone apps and branding.

with past experience with the device Z1 from vodafone ,the bootloader remains locked forever?
Does the Xperia Z2 from GSM-nation has locked or unlocked Bootloader? If yes, I can go ahead and root it directly?
Sent from my D6503 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
First things first, no Xperia phone comes with an UNLOCKED bootloader, they come with UNLOCKABLE/NOT UNLOCKABLE bootloaders. If it IS unlockable then head to Sony's bootloader unlocking site, and follow the provided instructions. You can find out whether it's unlockable or not by going into dialer and typing *#*#7378423#*#* (*#*#SERVICE#*#* in T9) > service info > configuration

Thank you so much for clear instructions and prompt response.
