how to find the region of my galaxy S3 gt i9300

Guys i"ve been having an issue with my wifi cutting in and out or functioning when it wants too. So i decided to call amazon where i bought the phone and see about returning it for a refund so i could get another s3. They agreed as long as i called samsung to see if they could help me with my issue first. Long story short after being transferred between 2 different samsung service centers, the guy that i talked to last said i needed to find out what region it was from. How can i find this out? He even googled it while on the phone with me and said he couldn't find anything. i've been searching somewhat and can't come up with anything. Little help would be appreciated.:good:
Try this
I recommend CSC Select v 1.1.

CSC nothing to do with WiFi .
You want to know where the phone came from and what firmware region . If you wiped the phone then only the seller may know the source unless a clue is on the box .

Preping my phone for rom

heya, so i was checking around, and it seems I have to root my phone, then use EZunlock to unlock it, then just install CWM and install the roms correct? EZ is just a app on the app store right? is there any 1 click things for rooting my s3 phone, or a really easy way? Gonna download a few roms now, I did see a few good JB ones, but did not see bamf, so will try out a few others. Let me know if you recommend a certain rom
Thanks
also guys, i noticed there is a verizon s3 section, and just the regular I9300 section, can i download roms from which place for my vzw s3? does it matter? I see the verizon android developement then just the regular development, so wasnt sure.
i recomennd using CF-ROOT and odin,
yes, be sure to check which version u have
GT9300 is the one for this forums
recomended roms = android revolution HD, checkrom, villianrom for first time flashers.
Umm I see there is like a section for each carrier. Then a section for Samsung galaxy III. Can I use those ROMs or ONLY the ones under Verizon section? Can u link the URL to the place(s) I can get ROMs here? Sorry lol just don't want go brick

See one place listed Samsung galaxy III I9300 then one Verizon Samsung galaxy III section. The generic is there I boosted this thread.

You are in the wrong forum. This is for the International version of S III.
Flashing anything from this section might brick your phone.

[Q] does the SHV-E210k version of the i9300 require specific roms/kernels

[Q] I just bought on Amazon an unlocked international version i9300. They sent me a Korean model SHV-E210k. Does the SHV-E210K require specific roms/kernels/recovery or will any i9300 rom/kernel work? Also after getting it & realizing the whole thing was setup in korean I went to reset it & found cwm on it already & tb claims i'm rooted already?
Any suggested roms/kernels I should try appreciated!

yes please see the SHVF-E210k posts its not I9300/ 05
SHV-E210K is a model. Gt-i9300 is a model. They are both models of the Samsung Galaxy S3. The i9300 is NOT a generic name for all S3's

You did not receive an International I9300 .
What you actually bought you should check with Amazon as it may be the wrong phone the wrong description .

Yea I let them know it wasn't the i9300 & that it was a used phone. Didn't mention that it was already pre-rooted when i got it. :what:

Well, then you should report the seller and ask for a refund.
And next time, stay away from eBay etc. and only buy from authorized resellers. That way getting a i9300 would be guaranteed and you wouldn't run into warranty problems.
i have patch i9300 for e210k

Creating backup of current firmware

Guys, I'm still new to android so excuse my ignorance.
My s6 is rooted and I don't have a custom ROM. What I do have is a highly tweaked phone (sqlite and other CSC tweaks) What I would like to know is that is it possible to create a Firmware backup of my current phone and state as it sits so if i get into trouble i can use Odin and flash the backup i created. The caveat here is that I don't believe i can install CWM b/c it will trip the Knox counter.
Thanks
Please post in the right direction.

Anyone flash to unlocked firmware?

Was wondering if anyone has flashed their T Mobile snapdragon firmware to the USA unlocked firmware?
Any pros or cons?

I cant be bothered going through 778 pages of ****e concering all other region versions when there is already a T Mobile specific forum created here. Hence why I asked this question in this forum. But thanks for the link, appreciate it.:good:
I'm running a Verizon firmware of all things as it still is on the exploitable bootloader. It has the December patch if you're wondering. It's one of the modded files that's on the SamFail page.
