well, i hope this will pass cause I am a noob here..
As an owner of this pretty much cheap and quite alright device I had hard time finding proper root method but in the end it was found..
Mine was already on 4.2.1 and the rest is as usual 1,5ghz dual core, mali 400 graphics, and apparently cortex a7 not a9 as on the box.. but who cares, right!?
so i got to the file (its actually based on crystal_root method from xda but some smart guy somewhere just made it work for 4.2 generic tablet ) I apologize if this si mentioned somewhere else, and I couldn't reply to crystal root board cause i am a noob, but I am sure some people will find this useful, that's all.

Hello to all.
I have a Prestigio 5588c and I had recently updated it to the latest firmware. I wanted to root this device, but it seems that the new update is not allowing the utoo-root-signed.zip to root it. It keeps failing. I was wondering if there is someone out there that is in the process of renewing the file so that it works on the most recent update from Prestigio.

Hello all,
I have the same PMP5588c_Duo device (4.2.1 stock Build PMP5588C.20131231.1.0.42) and managed to easily root it using Kingo root (kingoapp.com). It's a straighforward process:
download the app and install it on your PC
enable USB Debugging from the Developer options on the tablet
start the app on the PC
connect the table and PC with a microUSB cable
do not enable anything else on the tablet (like SD card access)
wait for Kingo to detect it
it will automatically download and install USB drivers to your PC and show a ROOT button
click the ROOT button, wait for 2-3 minutes, it could take up to 10min so be patient
the device will automatically reboot after the root has been applied
at which point disconnect the device
after the restart check for the SuperUser app, it will automatically install it

ok, this is an update.. seems the program did not want to root my tablet. when I started it again, it classed it as a google device, but said connection failed due to cable instability.. guess I will have to try another way

Welcome. I have a problem with this tablet.
Tablet died after a crash. There is no option to enter a Power + vol +
also does not move with the micro SD card from the system manufacturer Charges start-up screen and that's it. When connected to a PC saw it as m3-chip.
In total, I found drivers in Device Manager I did update the driver for the M3-chip and now the tablet is listed in my device manager as libusb- win 32 device. I found a program that detects such a connected tablet. The program is Amlogic Image Burning Tool v.1.6.2.2. For the time being this my progress stopped. I was trying to upload with this software firmware downloaded from the manufacturer's website dedicated for this device, but I get the message "find no upgrade" and do not know what to do. Can someone help me ??? I'm not an expert, and the above step I got reading the various forums. To my eye it looks as if they fell bootloader, but thanks to the above program to see the tablet (or rather its processor) and now combines where to download a bootloader to throw it out there and then be able to upload the system such as the sd card. Or is there some other program or a way to restore the dead to life my tablet ??? Can you help ???
1. Turn off the tablet (hold the power button and count to 12
2. Insert prepared SD card https://yadi.sk/d/_6VITNSbhKPyi
3. Press and hold the "Vol +", press "Power ON" for 2 sec.
4. Release all buttons and wait for boot TWRP (about 10 seconds)
5. In TWRP select Install -> update.zip
6. Reboot tablet

Sorry Dude but it doesnt work ..... while updating abort... i tryed with all known firmware from the company ... kingoRoot KingRoot and also OneKlickRoot doesn´t work too. I´m Sad about that...

Hey Guys,
So I just bought a brand new ZTE V5 Max and upon receiving found out that it didn't have GAPPS installed which I heaily use those apps so I went down the route of figuring out what was needed to install GAPPS. Please keep in mind I'm writing this to help fellow users of this phone so they don't have to go through the teadious research and chinese translations, I will not be held accountable for anything that goes wrong with your device when doing the below process, I just know it worked perfectly fine for me:
Step 1: Enable Debugging Mode
Head to Settings > About Phone > tap Build Number 8 times or something > Now go Back to settings and tap More > Developer Options > Enable USB Debugging.
Step 2: Install Drivers
Plug in your phone and install the AutoRun.exe that appears in the virtual CD drive (shows up when youplug the phone in)
Once you have installed the drivers verify in Device manager that all devices relating to the phone are installed and there's no unknow devices.
Step 3: Root the Phone and install CWM (Chinese Version sorry but the bits that are needed have english written )
Download the Rooting and Custom Recovery tool here -- drive.google.com/file/d/0B8qJPucQA8GkQy1uTk93dUNuMkE/view?usp=sharing
Unzip and double click on the ZTE-V5-MAX-TOOL.exe
It should come up and ask for a password enter the following (no spaces in the password had too due to XDA posting rules) - www . ydss . cn
Now select Option 2 which is the Root option
Now the tool will detect the phone and press any key and it'll reboot (my computer installed more drivers at this point and I had to close the rooting tool window, reboot the phone and start again, once again selecting option 2)
Now it should proceed through the rooting process.
At the end it'll try and install a chinese verison of the Root Checker tool mine failed which is ok.
It then display Sucess.
Now at this point I rebooted the phone and installed a Root Checker to validate that I did have Root acess and I did, you can proberly skip this step.
I then fired up the Rooting tool again but this time selected option 3 which will install the Custom Recover CWM
Once again press any key and it will begin installing the custom recovery
Once complete you should see sucess.
Reboot the Phone and go to Settings > About Phone > System Updates > Recovery and it should boot to Recovery CWM if it does yay.
Step 4: Installing Gapps
Reboot the phone
Install ES File Explore and give it Superuser Access
Now go to the uper directoy and tap and hold on the System folder then view the details.
You'll need around 150mb free space in there to be able to install GAPPS, I had to install an app called "Uninstall" (red coloured trash can). I then uninstalled the following : Easy Mode, Handbook (as it's chinese), neoshare, nubia Niudun, Nubia PlatLogo, Nubia Poster and Video Sample.
I then had enough room.
Now download Micro Gapps (Go to drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B1T7tp6tJ_3kQkZSWjNsazJZbGc&usp=sharing
Then click on "1.10 update_gapps" then "pa_gapps-modular-m" and download it. Then put it in the root directory of you Phone Storage.
Now reboot into recovery (Settings > About Phone > System Updates > Recovery)
Go to the second Option in Recovery called "***** Zip**) and browse to the phones storae and install the Zip.
If sucessfull go back to the main menu of Recovery and go down to the (****Cache**) option and select, then select it again to confirm.
Once complete go back to the Main menu again and choose the top option to reboot.
Walla your done.

Hi, I have just received my new ZTE Max 5 and I've spent all evening trying to set up my google account. The phone has google play store installed but I cannot install any apps because I cannot establish my google account. Every time I try to set up the account it says "there was a problem communicating with google servers". Any ideas? (I have disabled 2 google 2 step verification).

I tried rebooting it several times and restoring its fabric data but it doesnt pass the first screen. It can't open /dev/tty0 because there is no such file or directory. Can anyone please help me?

You said you have the "ZTE V5 Pro". Maybe that is just a typo, but this thread is about the "ZTE V5 Max", so be careful about what you do.

Firmware: The s7-701u firmware can be downloaded from huawei website here (617mb) but the s7-702u firmware is privative, and can't be obtained for free... Some pages offer it for money ( for example AssanFile )
A friend from Panama with a s7-702u paid for his operator firmware and share it to me here (617mb) but it comming with some panama operator bloatware and logos.
Note: inside the zip file is a pdf with install instructions, both firmwares are Simcard Unlocked

Are you still on the way things are still things as either still to come I can not install any ROM for this device (MEDIAPAD 7 YOUTH S7-701U)

My device is an Alps Q-Wave71M2 phablet and i would like to root it. I found a tool called unlockroot but it needs a pc to work and i dont have one. Is there any other root app for unbranded tablets that will root directly from my tablet? I am new to all this so please help me!

eemmm ... try King root and rootgenius apps and see how it is . if you couldn't do it , ask a friend for a PC ! you have 40% chance to successfuly root your phablet with them but remember to remove SIM cards before rooting !

How do i use kingroot and how do i use rootgenius.
I also wanted to check if unlockroot would surely work for my phablet. And if i use the apps no harm will be done to my tablet if it doesnt work right? Please and thank you.

please read the instruction compltely before doing !!
ON king root , at first lunch , connect to the internet and app check if your device's rom (android , kernal and it's services) is simillar to other phones listed in kingroot.txt .
if it is , don't worry about it . if it is not , tap on 'try to root' to test if your device can be root with hacks and tricks for phones listed on that file . if your phone's rom is not same as them , your chance to root with that app is very very low
and about rootgenius , it's a bit hard to say how to work with it because it's chineise . but the good point is this ; it can root a huge list of devices . very huge . at first run , go through the info by sliding to right . then press on the green button . app checks if your phone is root or not , afterward a dialog box comes and then press on the green button at the right . it starts to root your device . please wait and have a coffee during this . then press on the green button apeared . an app starts to install , which is your exact root-er !

Ok. So i used both of the rooting apps and they did not work. Kingroot started fine but it kept on rebooting my phablet 6times and it was only 30 or 20% and after it rebooted some time it stopped and showed the main screen for try to root. Rootgenius worked pretty well but it came up to 85% and then showed pictures that i needed to connect to a PC. Any other suggestions or any reason its not working?

Perhaps your phone's rom is not compatible with these programs . I'll try to find another program but HAVE you tried rootgenius ?
I've attached the FramRoot.apk which I think it is the fastest root program . if this program didn't work , I afraid you must ask senior members for help
install this program and at it's menu tap on 'install superuser' and select 'install superuser' or 'install superSu' ,which these names are name of two popular root managers (I recommand superuser ) then after a while , when rooting finished , restart your phablet , and now it's root !!
you can easily unroot your phone with the same app
if your menu is not as same as the image here (THE OPTIONS AT THE BOTTOM IMPORTANT) , try the IROOT.APK (OLD NAME : VROOT)
IROOT is an app for computer but the name of program for android is rootmaster .
at first lunch , remove the tick of 'join ...' and tap at the button , then tap on 'ROOT NOW' to start rooting .
after a while (very long time , 12 times slower than king root and framroot ) it roots your device .
THIRD WAY : THE LAST PROGRAM THAT I RECOMMAND AND HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH IT !

Ok thanks... But sadly none of them worked... When I tried framaroot it showed only install supersu and it only had two exploits and when i clicked on each of them it said that the exploit failed..then i tried iroot. I got to the main screen and i clicked root.. It said rooting hard now. Then it said root failed please try pc version. Then i tried kingoroot. At first it went up to about 80% and failed. Then i clicked try again and this time it came up to 95% but it kept on rebooting my phablet and started from the beginning after the reboot. Yes i think there is a website on the box: it is -quantum-q.c.o.m. Not with the dots on 'com'. here is a picture of the specs on the box.

Step 1: First of all unlock bootloader and enable developer option and USB Debugging mode on your Android device by This guide.
Step 2: Download and install this root App on your phone.
