Lg g5 resets when plugged in to charge (sometimes) - LG G5 Questions & Answers

Lg g5 sprint. Everything works fine. But sometimes when plugging in to charge at the end of the night the phone will reset. Sometimes Also it resets multiple times without loading fully. Haven't tried a factory reset, but that is my next step. Any ideas of other thing to check? Is there an error log that would show why the thing reset? Thanks

What do you mean by reset?
Do you mean it boots up? If you mean the phone sometimes turns on when it is plugged in (having previously been turned off), then this is typical of the G5 and previous LG models. It is nothing to worry about.

Turned on when plugged in and it reboots the phone. Splash screens a few times then will load the home screens.

If the phone was one and then rebooted when it was plugged in, that is not normal.
Try another USB cable - preferably the original cable that came with the device.
If that doesn't fix the issue, it sounds like a defect.

yeah tried to do a factory reset and got the error Device is corrupt. Once it boots it does work ok. Already have an RMA with LG. Also when booting sometimes the loading screens have weird lines across them.

Did you solve this?. I seem to be having similar issues. Randomly reboots while on charge. Specially while using and charging at the same time. I’m thinking it’s heat related. Any other ideas?

[Q] Atrix 4g Will not turn on, Please help!

I have had this Atrix 4g for about a year now and it has worked fine. I did a factory reset on the phone because I was giving it to my girlfriend. After the reset the phone would start up in fastboot (without me turning it on). While it was on i installed all the apps set up her motoblur account but once i needed to reboot the phone it would be another factory reset. Everything would be erased and it would fastboot again. I tried to turn fastboot off but I wasn't able to. I rebooted it a couple of times trying to fix it. Even tried another factory reset but using the bootloader (holding the vol - + PWR) and resetting from there. I looked for many solutions online but to no avail. Now the phone won't even turn on. When i plug it in to a charger the LED turns on (green) but it is completely unresponsive. I was running the latest software that was available for the phone (gingerbread 2.3.4 i think). I left it on charge for a day, and it wont work either. Right now I have it plugged into my USB and the green LED is on but it is completely un responsive. Any help or advice to what is going on?
Any help is much appreciated
Thanks

I read in some forum that the problem is the sleep of death. Sometimes i have that problem and the only solution is to make a combo of pulling out the battery and connect/disconnect the charge, suddenly it boots.
Some people said that the problem is that the atrix doesn't read well the level of the battery, but it's still surely unknown

I have heard about that, and I have tried that MANY times, at least 50+. Would it be worth it to buy a new battery perhaps or is it a problem with the phone itself?

I can't say that maybe the battery is the problem because i don't k ow the conditions of it, but you can try to charge it with an external wall charger and see what happens.
In my case i was sure that my battery was full because i charged it before the combo.
Anoter thing i noticed while the process was that sometimes my phone doesnt boot if it has the back cover on, i had to remove sometimes to turn it on, maybe there is a piece of hardware failing in ny device

Zperia Z5: LEDs Flash, Then Phone Reboots

Random Crashing
I am experiencing random crashes where the phone stops and the LED flashes a few times before rebooting. At first I thought it was overheating, as the phone was quite warm the first few times, but it has just done it when cold. It has happened mostly whilst in the play store. It's crashed about 15 times in 4 hours.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Is there anyway to access the logs without root?
*** Edit ***
This must just be a dud device. I did a factory reset last night and it crashed rebooting. Will take back to shop and hopefully exchange for a new one.
Did u tried to repair it via PC Companion?
It comes from a bad battery voltage. I had One m7 and after 1 year this problem begin. They change the battery and battery conector and it comes to work good.
This happened after 5 minutes, it's been sent back to the shop now for repair / replacement. Shame, as it was a nice phone when it wasn't crashing!
I had kind of the same experience with my device I bought yesterday. Turned it on, worked for about half an hour before flashing the red LED a few times and shutting down. After that it turned on once again, booted halfway up, the red LED flashed again and it shut down again. Then it did not react to anything anymore.
Plugging it into the charger did not yield any reaction at all. Pressing On and the Vol+ button made it vibrate three times as its supposed to do, but afterwards even that did not work anymore. As a last resort I pressed the hard reset button in the SIM slot, which also made it vibrate three times without any other reaction.
So I concluded it was dead and returned it to the store this morning to get my money back. I think I will hold of of buying a replacement until all the errors that currently pop up are sorted out.
Also noteworthy is, that while booting up and in the time it was usable the screen had a red tint sometimes and touch was working rather flakily.
They sent me a brand new phone, so was def a dud. No crashes so far, finger crossed

G5 continously detects USB when not plugged in

It detects it over and over and goes beep beep beep all the while vibrating. It is extremely annoying. I've read into this and most of the time the solution was to clean the bottom usb plug but I'm pretty sure mine is software related.
The phone was on, the screen was off, I go to plug it into the computer to charge, the screen comes on immediately and I see this

Automatic updates are turned off. In fact there are no updates for this phone. So I caught the sob sneakily trying to update something? I let it set for a solid 10m+ and it never went beyond 0%. So I removed the battery (power button did nothing) and restarted it. Nothing has changed afaict EXCEPT the usb port detecting over and over.
I have cleared the cache, tried to change the usb settings (they won't take). Any other ideas? I will NOT be doing a factory reset. I don't think I have read one single time where that worked.

Why does my usb option automatically turn on and prevent me from charging phone

Recently, the USB option icon has started to randomly appear on the notification panel. Additionally, the phone will not charge unless I restart it or turn it off. Plugging the phone in removes the icon from the notification panel but forces me to restart phone in order for it to charge properly. This is not a charger issue. Phone is up to date and has no other issues that I have found. Is anyone familiar with this issue? Any fixes?
Thank you
I've a similar experience with mine. At times, plugging in the phone results in negative charge - the battery drains instead of charging. A reboot will fix it. Same thing with usb connection to pc, it won't get recognized no matter how many times it's dis and re connected. Only a reboot will fix. A factory reset does fix the problem but not completely. It still occurs on occasion but not as often before the reset. I know it's a sw driven issue but couldn't be bothered to narrow down the cause.
That said, the new oreo upgrade seems to fix a lot of these issues. Even the quick charge problem on nougat is fixed. Phone now properly detects a QC3 charger and doesn't drop the quick charge halfway like on nougat.
Thank you
as far as I can tell, Oreo is not available. How do I reboot without factory reset?
Reboot is same as restart. Although, personally for me, they differ slightly. Difference being, a reboot needs you to turn off the phone.
In any case, it's almost certain a sw problem since a restart / reboot fixes it. I still suggest a factory reset.

Dual screen suddenly stopped working and battery drain

It just stopped turning on and everytime I tried, I got a toast that said to try again after reattaching the dual screen. This only temporarily fixed it and after a few times of reattaching it the phone doesn't even recognize the case anymore.
The magnetic charging still works.
Anybody encounter this or know how to fix?
Something else. I've had massive battery drain since my dual screen stopped working. At a rate of 6-7% an hour without usage. I have to recharge it twice a day once in the morning and once at night to keep it from dying on me (again without even using the phone). The battery usage only shows system as using battery.
Things I've tried.
1. Rebooting
2. Factory reset (retore with drive)
3. Factory reset (setting up from scratch)
4. Deleting LG message and installing textra. Deleting LG contacts and installing google contacts. Installing and using Google phone as default over LG.
None of these has worked. I'm wondering if it was due to the latest T-mobile update which i took a couple of weeks ago and only noticed it later.
Anybody on T-mobile having battery problem? Any suggestions?
I've had this too. Only thing I haven't tried is a hard reset (vol down + power button) but not sure if will work or not. It's annoying.
Have tried a a hard reset and it‘s still happening. I think mine is a loose connection somewhere. It will stay on and play a movie all the way through if it’s left on the table but if I’m holding the phone while using it it will turn off. No idea if it’s fixable though?

So your problem didn't start after taking the latest T-mobile update then? Turning off while holding sounds bad i hope you can get it figured out.
Now I'm convinced mine had something to do with the dual screen case. It started right after my dual screen case stopped working. I'm guessing it loosened the usb connector or maybe something from the magnet charging adapter itself.

I'm in the UK. My problems started after I upgraded to android 10. It worked flawlessly up until then. I then updated to android 11 hoping that might solve the problem but it didn't. I'm now thinking it's a fault with the screen after it played the whole of the eternals film without turning off as it was sat on the table and not touched. As soon as I try and do something with it while holding it, it turns off, but there's no specific time limit. Sometimes it's on for 20 minutes before it turns off, sometimes it's 20 seconds.
