Hi, just to share results of my research on dual-SIM, simultaneous 4G/3G capable phones.
Do note that there are confusing and ofttimes purposely misleading terms; there are differences between:
the use of FDD-LTE vs. TD-LTE (sometimes misleadingly referred to as "dual LTE")
the ability to switch the "primary SIM/slot" (which has LTE/4G+/4G/3.5G/3G capabilities) with the second/secondary slot without physically swapping the SIM cards (refer to misleading/misinformed information within the OneNote notebook as linked, from no less than one of Singapore's leading telcos)
the ability to simultaneously maintain a 4G/3G connection on both SIMs
Before we start seeing responses in this thread from people asking:
why would you need 2nd SIM to be on 3G at the same time?
simply because there are countries that:
will be shutting down their 2G networks (e.g. US, AU, SG)
have service providers that do not run 2G (i.e. GSM) networks at all (e.g. CA, JP, KR)
why would you need two data connections?
There is a difference between: data connections and voice connections over 3G; if your phone is currently on LTE/4G+/4G and both your handset or your service provider/current service cell tower is not VOLTE-capable, make a phone call and you will note the connection "drops" to 3G (voice).
(caveat: there may be some people that want dual/separate data paths for different apps, but I believe those to be in the minority and not the target/purpose of my research)
The "crop" of "current" generation dual-SIM capable phones in wide-spread markets from the "big guns" (e.g. LG G5, Samsung Galaxy S7 and A 2016-series) cover points #1 and #2, but fail on point #3.
Legend:
highlighted in green background: arguably best in class
highlighted in red background with white text: arguably worst in class (or does not meet the needs of this article; i.e. "4G + 2G only")
red text: warning/of detrimental note
"question marked": unsure/unchecked
For the bands and the countries, that is for my internal reference only, covering most of the countries of my concern; please use that as a guide; I will not entertain requests to add more countries (as it will be a herculean/endless task).
Do note the table is incomplete (those with question marks); particularly I stopped bothering about other aspects if I confirmed it was not simultaneous 4G/3G capable. If you know of any other simultaneous 4G/3G-capable phones, please let me know to add them, but please stick to "current" phones (i.e. announced/released from 2015 or preferably mid-2015 onwards) and please also provide at least two other "official" references confirming said capability (and please do not use two "sources" that circularly-reference each other or the same "source").
NOTE: I have not stated nor verified VOLTE, either on SIM #1 or switchable primary, which is another point of interest for me; if you have any information, please let me know as well.
Thanks!
P.S.: Whereas I have seen quite a few direct edits, corrections and contributions, someone (eventually) deleted the entire page. It has been restored but made read-only for now; please PM me and I will provide an editable link.
Meanwhile, until someone else finds a better way, or I find the 2+ hours needed to properly tabulate it (i.e. put it into an easier-to-read table), consider this version "stale" from herein.

Yes, as of current, my research shows exactly that. For the record, I have personally tested the S7/Edge, Z5 Premium Dual and G5, and now own two Mi 5 Pros... The Mi 5 Pros work beautifully, except for:
irritating CN bloatware (and Mi App Store stubbornly sticking to showing CN instead of EN despite language settings)
Xiaomi's framework overriding and interfering with standard Google framework (in the name of their "optimisation", which I have turned off with little detrimental effect overall)
stupid, self-serving "official" forum (en.miui.com; but that is a rant for another thread in another sub-forum)
I will leave my "user's review" for a separate post in a separate thread in the correct sub-forum another time...

I will try to clean it up and also update it... I will try to keep it updated as long as it remains relevant (i.e. when most leading phones are still claiming dual-SIM capabilities but remain 4G+2G only)...
To be added: the Xiaomi Mi Max and the "new" Sony X and XA series (which appears to be near launch here in SG)...

I suppose phones being released after the mi5 in China could all copy this 4g/3g capable tech.
We might see a number of choices later this year, Q3 or Q4.
There is no news with further release of a true dual 4G or 3G phone, probably too costly and a power drain.

Not sure if the Mi 5 counts as a "true" dual 4G/3G phone - that depends on your definition of "true". However, as mentioned above, I may confirm that the Chinese Mi 5 supports both SIMs to be on a LTE + 3G network.
I can confirm that the Sony Xperia Z3 Dual D6633 only supports 4G + 2G as I own this phone.
Sony Xperia X Performance supports 4G+3G, I can confirm this.
The OnePlus 3 has been confirmed by user reports to support 3G on the secondary SIM slot as well.

majority of the dual sim supports 4g and 3g in sim 1and 2, but does it support 4G in sim 1 and 3G in sim 2 simultaneous.
Yes, that is what I'm talking about. You can have the OnePlus 3's primary SIM card registered on a 4G or 3G network while the secondary SIM will still register on 3G simultaneously. Let's call this dual-3G capability.
Any Confirmation that the Mi Max supports 4G/3G like the mi5 does? Or is it like the Redmi note 3 pro 4G / 2G combo?
There's a discussion in another forum at hardwarezone, but I'm not yet allowed to post links.
What I can read out, the capability is requires both hardware, i.e. Qualcomm Snapdragon 820/823 Qualcomm Snapdragon 617/625/650/652, as well as software.
The following should according to the link above, support one sim card on 3g/4g (voice/data) and the other sim card (2g?)/3g (voice only) simultaneously.
Of course only counting the dual sim versions.
LeTV LeEco Le Max 2 (Qualcomm Snapdragon 820)
Oneplus Three (Qualcomm Snapdragon 820) - confirmed
Sony Xperia X Performance (Qualcomm Snapdragon 820)
Xiaomi Mi5 (Qualcomm Snapdragon 820) - confirmed
Xiaomi Mi Max (Qualcomm Snapdragon 650)
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro (Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 Snapdragon) (un-officially - Need to un-lock and flash modifed rom)
Zenfone 3 (Qualcomm Snapdragon 625) link in hardwarezone thread
Zenfone 3 Ultra (Qualcom Snapdragon 652) link in hardwarezone thread
ZUK Z2 pro (Qualcomm Snapdragon 820)
In another link I can read confirmation at a conference of:
Moto G4 (Qualcomm Snapdragon 617)
Moto G4 Plus (Qualcomm Snapdragon 617)

Hi @kms108, thanks for the tip... I am in the midst of re-vamping the entire table and will add this in when done. I know XDA "kinda sucks" since we cannot add images without them being available somewhere else online, but I would appreciate it if you could send a screenshot or something, or another non-circular-referencing post for me to "back up" this claim before I add this...
Xperia X Performance is not 3G/Dual capable
This page on Sony's website http://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/xperiaxperformancedual/userguide/Selecting-mobile-networks/ list these valid configurations:
One LTE network and one GSM network
One WCDMA network and one GSM network
Two GSM networks
Obviously no good for those of us seeking to use in 3G only locations...

Thanks, but this is in conflict with what @kms108 a few posts before (and considering that is from an owner, I am inclined to believe that person, although I am still waiting for hard(er) proof). However, it may be true in your neck of the woods if the secondary radio does not support the LTE or 3G bands there. (is NZ any different from AU for radio bands?)

No worries... the link is from the global Sony support site so I don't think it's NZ specific - and as most of our phones are AU market devices anyway it shouldn't be related to band support... The fact that Sony has taken the trouble to publish this info suggests that it's likely to be accurate, however it wouldn't be the first time an OEM's support site has published misleading information.

It's not possible to post screen shots, there is no way to show any indication for the dual 3G or 4G+3G simultaneously on the same screen shot, you just have to take my word for it.
dual 4G(LTE) is not possible, if this is selected a pop put will state LTE is only selectable for one sim card socket only.

That being said.
As I don't have a 4G sim, I have set both sim in settings for WCDMA only and I can make or receiver calls from either sim, from a friend it has also been confirmed working in japan where 2G (GSM) doesn't exist, that sim 1 is used for calls and sim 2 used for data, at the same time the V10 was also used in Japan, where sim 1 is usable, and sim 2 does not receive any signal, as the V10 is only 4G or 3G+2G.
The phone is the Hong Kong Version XP (F8132), do note the Xperia X and Xperia XA (Ultra) does not support this feature.
Update, I also think the Samsung Note 7 also supports the same feature, but can't confirm exactly if this is correct.

I have been searching and searching about this since long before I even got my Touch Pro(well actually AT&T Fuze) and I have stumbled across some information on the subject but not any real definitive answers.
Here in this thread, you can see that the Xperia X1 was enabled for the 1700Mhz network:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427316
In post #377 of this thread here, there is even a screenshot:
http://www.bengalboy.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=1107&viewmode=flat&order=ASC&start=370
I know there is a thread in the Blackstone section here and maybe even more.
My question is does anyone think this is possible and do you think it will happen anytime in the near future?
I'm a T-Mobile US customer and I'm dealing with the slow EDGE speeds but would prefer T-Mobile's 3G and I know I'm not alone here.
I think it's definitely something worth doing since it will drastically increase the market for these phones. Increasing the market will increase the user base and the more users, the better the community could be.
Just my 2 cents.
EDIT::
Here is that screenshot of the Sony Xperia X1 with the 1700Mhz UMTS Band enabled:

From what I have been led to believe that a security unlocked Touch Pro is capable of using the Xperia's Radio. If it's capable of using the Xperia's Radio then it should be capable of using the 1700 Band.
This is a project I hope will become a popular topic.
And forgive me for starting a new thread. I know there are many others out there like this but I just figured creating a dedicated thread that was fresh and right at the top was a good idea.
unless I am mistaken and this is the case with other HTC devices it is not the software that controlls which radio frequency it can handle its hardware has to be capable of supporting that frequency which I dont think the Fuze is capable.

The Fuze, hardware wise, is nearly identical to the Touch Pro. Also I read in one of the older threads that the antenna is capable of supporting the 1700Mhz Band because it is so close to the 1800Mhz Band. It's just an antenna.
What needs to be changed are drivers. Our devices have the same chipset as the T-Mobile HTC G1. Why can't we port that radio to the Raphael?
I always thought u could retune the antenna sort of like a radio to make it work on another frequency but I think it would have to be a hardware modification like opening up the device and using jtag to change it

I think what you said is definitely true. The only different, as I understand, its that Pro blocks the 850/1700/1800 when shipped to different countries. Like the one I am using is the HTC Pro that claims to be quad band with all the necessary freq. on board.
Please let me know if there is anything I could help since I want to use mine with ATT 3g if possible
I am a TE major, so maybe I would still some of my knowledge
Thanks
I think my question is:
In the band tab in phone, I could choose the similar settings as AT&T is using, 850+1900, but why is it not going to the 3G icon?
I am researching on this and hopefully could come back with answer.
huh....maybe I need to security unlock this and flash with AT&T radio?
Hey guys sorry to jump into the mix, but i just wanted to say something. My friend at work has a G1 with the G1 data package and i wanted to show him the skyfire browser because he didnt beleave that it played embeded flash videos. at the time i did not have any data package on my Touch Pro so i askekd to use his sim card. When i used his sim card to browse skyfire and Opera the speeds were crazy fast, it could not have been GPRS or EDGE...it was way to fast. So does this play any part in trying to access the 1700Mhz Band.

By default, you should be able to see what connection you have on the rapheal. is it showing an E/H/3G?
Well that was few weeks ago so i cant really remember which it was accessing...but i know the speeds of Edge and Gprs and that was not it. maybe it was hsdpa or 3g. with edge or gprs playing video in skyfire gives you that lag or constant buffer, whatever i was on that day was fast, very fast..even my friend said it moved faster than his G1 using 3G.

This would be awesome, I am tired of EDGE speeds when there is Tmobile 3G signal in the places I am at. I have a G1 as well but don't use it because they detect IMEI and won't let me use data if I don't specifically have their G1 DATA package. Weird how in the picture it is 3G only and no GSM to fall back on. Too bad my device is not security unlocked.

Yeah there were other photos that displayed the GSM options but I only copied this one.
Yeah I'm not security unlocked yet either but I plan to get unlocked as soon as either Oilpro PMs me back or I get the money to purchase the security unlock...
I just don't understand why he's charging for all of this. Back in the day when I had a Wizard(T-Mobile MDA) this was all free. I guess different time different people different way of working...

yep, I am waiting for his kindness now.
the issue we are facing is not hardware. I think it bares in the radio stack that the hardware receives. As the specs they are, the HTC Pro is identical to ATT Fuze, and it should be able to discover all freqs 850+1800+1900+2100. So there must be something in protocol that prevents us to use the 3g network.
I am gather evidence that this is doable and once Olipro would be kind enough to help my security unlock this, I will start digging in.
Thanks
EDIT: OK, just got pm from Olipro, no luck on free unlock. Guess I need to find some money to pay on this now
UMTS 850MHz
There are people already working on this here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=420865&page=40
I think this would also answer whether or not the 1700MHz would be usable also.
Cheers
Sorry to disappoint, but 1700mhz won't be possible unless HTC releases a UMTS-IV version of the Touch Pro. The UMTS radio is not like the GSM radio (which was unlocked on the Diamond to give it quad-GSM).
This was covered at great length in the X1 forum, but the 1700mhz option you see on the prototype X1 is a software oversight. If you read the BengalBoy thread, you will see that he was unable to connect to Tmobile's 3G network regardless of the setting. That's because the X1 radio simply does not have UMTS-IV (1700/2100mhz) support, and it cannot be "unlocked".
The reason a "UMTS (1700)" option exists in the first place is because Japanese carrier e-Mobile uses UMTS 1700 (band IX, which does not use 2100mhz and is therefore incompatible with Tmo US 3G). Moreover, if it was really meant to support Tmo 3G, the option should read "UMTS (1700/2100) + GSM (850/1900)".
If you search Kaiser forums, you can find a CAB that adds the "UMTS (1700)" option into WM, but it is intended exclusively for e-mobile subscribers and does nothing for anyone else who does not have a UMTS-IX (e-Mobile) phone.

Yes i am very sure i was not using wifi, only my friends G1 Sim card with the $35.00 G1 data package. wifi was not on as i only powered the phone after putting in his Sim card. i will do another comparison tomorrow when i see him at work. but i do think using the better data package does something. if any of you guys have friends with G1's and the G1 data package ask to so a test using your Touch Pro and reports the speeds you browse at or the data rate.
Hi folks,
There's lots of ads starting to appear on various 'china phone' websites for phones based on the new mtk6589 quadcore cpu. I took the plunge and ordered a ThL W8 which is on its way. I'll post performance and spec when it arrives if anyone is interested - post and let me know.
Does anyone else have one or similar phone based on mtk6589?
A thread for phones based on mediatek CPU's would be useful, I recon there are a lot about in Europe - those of us who don't want to be locked into expensive 'airtime' contracts and like to be in control of our phone!

When you get it could you post a picture of contents of the engineer mode bandmode page? Getting conflicting reports on the actual bands supported by the MTK6589 chipset this uses.
To get into engineer mode dial *#*#3646633#*#* (Hopefully this is the same as the MT657x series code!) Bandmode should be second from the bottom, there are a lot of options so you have to scroll.

i wish there was some way to enable wcdma 1900. 850 is good enough for att USA but i want MORE! :good:
3G data is not connecting... So far I am stumped on how to enable it.
Operator SIM card automatically sets up the APN, but it still does not work.
Setting another APN by hand with the operator settings does not help either.
The 'H' symbol, or '3G', or whatever does not show up on the radio icon.
Is there some hidden setting or debug which I can enable?
Any advice on how can I start debugging the connectivity issue on the phone?
Thanks
I also ordered the ThL W8 from www.thlmobilestore.com on March 2nd because it is listed as in stock since then. I was a bit curious after a few days of not having received a shipment confirmation and logged in to the webstore to check my order status. It was found that the shop has no order on record for me.
I sent them a mail to explain what was going on and received a mail that they would ship the phone in one to twoo weeks. For listed as in stock phones? Yes right. Sounds like a scam to me.
I have asked to cancel my order and to refund my money because I do not want to wait another two week for a sipping confirmation. unfortunatel, they did not refund and did not even bother to reply to my request. Therefore, I have opened a dispute for the transaction using paypal buyer protection. I know there is still a high risk of losing my money, because scammers usually accuse the buyer of being a thief and then immediately close the dispute, yet I do not see another alternative at the moment to get my money back.
A warning to all of you, do not order anything from www.thlmobilestore.com. These people cannot be trusted.
There is another store selling these phones, it is called ThL Mobile Store, I should have ordered from them, by assuming I ordered from the factory store, I fell for www.themobilestore.com instead.

Hi,
I'm hoping you're wrong. My order appears to be progressing on Singapore Post tracking. Orders from the far east can often take a few weeks so patience is a virtue.
Not clear who you ordered from was it thlmobilestore.com or themobilestore.com - you name them both?
Maybe we need a 'sticky' topic on the forum to review or rate suppliers?

Hi Again,
My phone arrived today, thank you to thlmobilestore.com the ThL W8 is superb.
Very well packed, strong box, good quality charger, batteries, earphones and screen protectors. The phone is good quality, bright screen, Atutu is showing well over 12500 score, rear camera is 12Mpx. A massive improvement on my old Lt18i mtk6573!
One satisfied customer.
Now to try some rooting.

Thanks

Well, I haven 't heard of countries having a WCDMA of 2000, so I am assuming it's the same band of 2100, which is how the phone is advertised and sold.
My operator supports 2100 and 850Mhz frequencies. If it didn't support the WCDMA bands it should still connect on EDGE (kinds of sucks, but better than nothing) right?

Yes, I also have the same problem.
Solution:
download GoogleContactsSyncAdapter.apk:
http://ge.tt/9M1zsuD/v/56
or here:
http://www.filecrop.com/google-conta...apter-apk.html)
Install it.
And it works
Yeah, that's my thread on PandaWill. I gathered the contacts .apk and root instructions from other sources. The root instructions were originally for a MTK6577 device I think, but they work fine on the THL W8. At least my device was rooted and ClockWorkModded fine with the instructions posted on that thread.

Hi all,
Phone successfully rooted with information provided earlier in this thread, many thanks to those who posted. I did a factory reset (on advice from thlmobilestore) so started from a clean setup, rooted then fixed the contacts sync.
Now everything works pretty much like a dream - it performs as well as my Acer A110 tegra 3 tab!
It would be nice to fix the gallery sync with picassa, but thats just a nice-to-have not a must-do.
In summary, the ThL W8 is a really good phone which gets my vote. :good:
[Work in Progress] Trying to Unlock Bands (Including B20)
Conclusion
Changing the NVRAM values, may be the first step in the right direction, but it's not the end. It needs more than this to enable B20 and more.
Introduction
This topic is work in Progress; I edited some NVRAM values in hopes to unlock more bands for the Xiaomi Mi5. Have a look at the following topics.
I've tested it and by the result is that the NVRAM values alone are not enough to enable more bands. In the next paragraph I will shortly explain the test setup and test results.
About the test
Test-Setup: Xiaomi Mi5, In Norway where carriers use Band: 3, 7, 20; Band 20 is for rural areas; Band 3 and 7 are for crowded places
How did I test the NVRAM values: All but Band 20 were disabled, and I drove out to the countryside (rural area)
Result: No Band 20!
Conclusion: The NVRAM values are a good start, but not enough to enable more LTE operating frequencies.
Short Documentation: A short documentation of the performed test.
Original Bands
4G FDD-LTE bands 1 / 3 / 7
4G TDD-LTE bands 38 / 39 / 40 / 41

The Important Line
Code:
ID Desc Original Value Modified Value
06828 lte_bc_config 2061584302149 2061719111903
What will happen next?
4G works on Band: 3, 7 and 20 in Norway. Usually, Band 20 is used in rural areas, and Band 3,7 are in use for more populated areas. As I live in Tromsø, I had 4G out of the box.
So I will have to go out of the city, to test if Band 20 is active, after changing the NVRAM values, on my Xiaomi Mi 5.
Why post this now and not wait a bit?
Maybe there's a mistake in here, and someone has the time to find it.
Why have this value?
If you look at it in binary, each 1 represents an active 4G band. So by changing values from 0 to 1, in theory, additional frequencies are enabled. (Only if the hardware allows it.)
Code:
lte_bc_config (64-bit, of which 44 bits relevant): Bands Active:
2061584302149 00011110000000000000000000000000000001000101 1.3...7. 38-41
2061584892127 00011110000000000000000010010000000011011111 12345.78 17 20 38-41
How can you help?
Double check the numbers and share your knowledge, pretty please. If something looks fishy to you, ask a question.
MTK has an engineering mode where it's easy to see what bands are enabled. Is there something similar to the MTK engineering mode for Qualcomm SoC's? Is there an easy way to test enabled bands?
What hardware is inside of the phone?
(Just another wild guess, be careful)
I googled a bit, instead of learning Norwegian and found the following. Link: Intrinsyc Introduces Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 Cortex-A72-Class Development Board, SoM and MDPs
How did I stumble upon this, I read on en.miui.com that the SD 820 has Qualcomm WCD9335 audio codec, and so found that link.
In the link a as connectivity the following hardware is stated: Qualcomm IZat Gen 8C GPS (WGR7640); and googling for this brought up that the same chip (WGR7640) is used in the SD 410.
One phone that has the SD 410 is the MOTO G (2015); so that allows us the very wild guess that the SD 820 will support at least all the bands of the SD 410.
Please share your opinion on this matter.
Awesome Information by @fredda88:angel:
Inside the Mi5 you will also find the skyworks 77646 power amplifier module and listed under it's 4G features is: LTE supports output power bandwidth bands 1, 25, 3, 4, 39, 26, 8, 20, 12, 17 (and sub-bands 9, 10, 18, 19)

Try with "lte discovery" app.
On Samsung phones you can use *#0011# code to check it, but I'm not sure wheter it does work or not for other phones.
I have the MI5 and I'm in your same Situation, ist not really needet to unlock B20..... but I can try.
I'm not expert, but I have a Problem to see on what Band I am.
I tryed a lot of apps..... discovery lte say me "lte band unknow".....
so if I make changes I can't see if they works..........

It depends on your carrier, so no way with this app
anybody know an app that give the used Band ?
@ TheUltrametricSpace : your mi5 is unlocked? rooted?...... I was thinking that because my is locked unrooted that I can't see the lte band.

My phone is unlocked but not rooted.
I would assume that the app states somewhere "I want root", so don't think it's needed. But I don't know.
I tryed to send an email at the "lte discovery" so know what's the Problem....
I guess that root privileges are necessary. We would have to analyze what scripts this software uses to state it with certainty but it would be better to have it rooted before trying.
Btw, guys you are amazing! Thank you!

If I have to root the phone, I have to wait to unlock it first (I've read).......

Would it not be simple to disable, first, all LTE bands. Then ensure you don't get a signal. Then enable just the LTE band you want to test (20 in this case) and see?

That's more work than just rooting the phone and using LTE Discovery.
At least, I don't have the time disable all bands but B20... drive to (and find) an area where B20 is active, test it out .... go back home and start all over again.
I think could be a good idea to enable only the B20, I don't know exactly how my carrier send the 3 bands in my Zone. If they send all 3 bands 3-7-20 in the City.
The Problem is to know where can I find a covery area for the B20, than your idea will be good.
First I have to be sure that if something happen at the phone, I can reinstall it. I read that with Mi PC Suite is possible but now is not supportet the mi5 on this tool

Could always take a laptop with you :silly:
Seriously though as long as LTE Discovery is doing its' job though you wouldn't need to disable the other bands.

Right, yes I have a notebook, and will bring it to the cabin next weekend. (Where there should be B20) ... if I didn't root the phone by then, I will go for your suggestion
But I was hoping to root it, and try it when I'm out skiing somewhere on a hill. (That will happen before the easter weekend)
So Google released the much awaited December update with more than 100 fixes and I have tested some of the newest fixes in and out. Some users now report signal loss and connectivity issues with the December Update, specifically users from Europe and in none supported countries where Pixel 6 is not offered officially, but not only - also official countries users are complaining.
The is a reddit thread where vachezoub suggested a very easy fix for connectivity issues and signal loss and it seems it`s working already for several users! So let`s check this FIX and let`s apply it in this video!

If not a secret, where are you from?
Asking cause I am from Bulgaria, Europe, where the Pixel 6 is not sold officially hence no profiles from the carriers, and it`s a mess - like I said in my video - no 5G (which I can live w/o) but no VoLTE and VoWifi - for the VoLTE I am very much dependent on it as I do a lot of voice calls from mobile while browsing using data and with VoLTE it`s a pleasure and now w/o and the Pixel 6 I am using H+ and it`s... slow
It`s definitely better for myself as well!

Yep, I am following the other topic - I would probably root just to get the VoLTE, dont care so much for 5G... but it`s very disappointing - and it was not like that with Pixel 4 and etc.

But in another thread I read that it was possible to install the android 12L and android 13 beta modem.img in the public android 12, after that I proceed to install it and it fixed my issue at all, finally I have my P6P just the way it should be without signal dropping when calling and everything working just fine, network speed increased too.
I have these config:
-Android 12 June update.
-Unlocked bootloader.
-Rooted with magisk 25.1
-Installed android 13 beta modem.img vía fastboot.
I leave the modem files, hope it helps you.

Looks like they are the same file with 2 different versions/dates. I was going to flash the modem file from Android 13 Beta 3.2

Does anyone else still has signal issues and call fails even on newest update and beta carrier services. Every call I have to recall atleast twice for stable signal.

I have the same issue on daily basis. I have at least 30 calls per day and every 2nd or 3rd call has to be repeated. I tried to compare my P6 pro with midranger phones with the same network carrier (I used network cell info lite app) and their signal is so much better (per example - 75 dBm, while p6 pro has -90 or above -100 score). I use it in dual sim mode, and there's no difference between eSim and classic physical SIM in signal strength. I DON'T KNOW HOW TO SOLVE THIS. I SEE THAT MANY OTHERS HAVE THIS PROBLEM SINCE DECEMBER 2021, AND I'M NOT AN OPTIMIST THAT GOOGLE WILL RESOLVE THIS (I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT THEY DIDN'T DO THAT FOR ALMOST A YEAR). I live in Serbia, where pixels are not in the official carrier sale.

Did you try to use only 2G to one of your two SIMs? Enter to *#*#4636#*#* and lock the one sim to 2G.
If you have unsupported carriers in your phone, is very common. Try the trick above it might help.

I would definitely root simply to gain the VoLTE; I don't care as much about 5G. However, it is quite upsetting because it wasn't like that with the Pixel 4 and other devices. One of my friends lives in the Netherlands, where Google does have a store, but the Pixel is not available there.

As I know pixel 4 doesn't have 5G and there wasn't 5G antennas so as to abolish the 3G ones, as happeining right now.
The users of supported countries have less related issues. Here is the map till now.

I did that. Thank you! It increased the signal strength on the other SIM by 30%. That solved one problem, now I have one more left, because my main SIM (eSIM) is still bad with signal and I can't set it to 2G because I have constant need to be online via LTE network. The phone store don't accept the return of the device through the warranty because when I took the phone to the city center where the shop is located, it catches an excellent network signal, and they say everything's fine, but as soon as you go outside the center (even just two blocks) everything is much worse. At one web page, I saw a comment where a man says that this is a problem of 30% of total users of P6 pro, but I didn't find any other posts about specific product series which has that problem.

I did that. This sounds your carrier's problem. In general, pixels have strong signal comparing to other expensive phones. Apart from the fact that they have interruptions etc.
So, the strength might come from the bad covering from your carrier.
The last suggestion that I can give to you is to swap the eSIM to SIM.

Thank you. I will try to put SIM from another carrier to check if that works. But before I switched my physical SIM to 2G, the signal from that SIM and eSIM were the same (bad). And both of them are from the same carrier at this moment.

Try the sim in another dual phone.
Try another carrier in your phone.
Try a factory reset after the tonight's update.
I live in Canada and bought a US variant s23 Ultra. Two things I have noticed,
1. Wifi calling can be configured in my provider end (Virgin), and when it ask to complete the setup by turning on wifi calling it does not work.
2. Samsung pay is not working.
Has anyone faced any sort of issues after flashing SM-S918W firmware in SM918U1?
Any cons??
Also, my apps will be wiped or no? I have already seen that I can keep data intact while flashing with Oidin.

Wi-Fi calling won’t work on the U1 (neither with VoLTE) in Canada except on Rogers. Bell and Telus whitelist W model IMEI numbers. Even if you flash the W firmware it won’t work.

If this is the case. Was this a recent change? VoLTE used to work fine as well as 5G using my old OnePlus 8T+ 5G. It honestly wouldn't surprise me but if this is actually happening. I hope everyone files a complaint with the CRTC over their anti-competitive behavior. I won't be able to try mine out until i get back to Toronto after Easter but I will be reaching out to their Executive Team directly if this is the case and consider returning my 6 lines to Rogers.

It was a change sometime last year. CRTC wouldn't do anything because they said it's their network and they can choose what devices they allow to use. CRTC is a joke

It used to be that way about SIM locking devices too. Sometimes things can change for the better. Especially if enough people complain about the same issue.

I tried submitting a CCTS claim but they sent me back the requirements and there is a specific section about devices on their network and how that's exempt. The only way might be writing your MP to voice your complaint. I agree if enough people complain maybe they will do something but I won't hold my breath. In my case I switched carriers to Rogers since I didn't want to give up my U1 device but I know not everyone is in that position.

I need a device compatible with mt T-Mobile SIM and Telus. US devices are much more compatible globally in my opinion and T-Mobile's roaming rates make Canadian carrier rates look like a joke in comparison.

100%.
telus/kodoo wifi calling did not work for me and the phone was from Telus!
Had to switch to Rogers.
I do remember that my previous phone (online bought) was not supported by my carrier for Vowifi, and I found on the carrier forum how to push it with ADB. It worked, can't remember exactly the steps it's been a while
You cannot use a US S23 Ultra with a Canadian SIM card, but you can use International Data Roaming with a supported US carrier.
(This is a MAJOR change for 2023 and beyond. Samsung is putting the final nail in the coffin to end foreign SIM card support on US Galaxy devices, even after a network unlock.)

I did similar with the OnePlus 8T+ 5G. Using QPST, you change the carrier profile for the SIM. This also worked on my Xiaomi Mi MIX 3.

Samsung doesn't care. As long as you buy their phone, they get your money. I am going to have a conversation with the Telus Executive Team this week about this. I want to know what exactly is done. If it's white listing as mentioned. Then they can lock my device ID to a previously sold Telus device to keep these features active on my s23 Ultra. I had this done with my old Rogers s9+ on AT&T that was flashed to keep WiFi Calling and VoLTE working for that device while she used it.
good luck with Telus, I spoke with many people to get the freaking Vowifi option enable, and nothing can be done. Ive pposted on all possible forums to let people know.
Even the engineer team was aware of that and they didnt care.
Sad I personally know the ex VP of telus, but now retired...
I spoke to one of the senior network engineers at Telus after confusing my contact in the Telus Executive Office. What I was told...
Devices are not provisioned by IMEI but are by device model. So even a W flashed U or U1 will still show up as what it is because of the one unchangeable CSC. The crock about having to test devices before the model gets approved is a typical line but that is their excuse to limit what devices fully function on their network to help encourage customers to buy from Telus. However, devices and devices models will be added as time passes. I sent the engineer the IMEI's for my TMB U s23 Ultra and this is what I was told.
Not vetted yet but as explained to me over the phone. Devices and device model variants will be added to the vetted list over time. This practice was implemented less than a year ago now. There is no ETA for this and I am not aware of any way to bypass the IMS vetting list. Device refreshes take place every few days.
