I have a rooted Fire 6 HD with 5.12 on it. In the absence of a LP or MM ROM, I'd like to clean up (disable) as many services as possible to remove some unnecessary Amazon bloat.
Aside from otaverifier and lock screen ads, what other services can be pm disabled?

When I had my previous phone, there was a list floating around that had all the bloatware from the stock ROM that were safe to freeze/remove. I did not see a list for our phones so I thought I would put together one. Below is what I have frozen safely with Titanium Backup. Please feel free to add to the list as I am sure there are more apps that are safe to freeze/remove and I will include it below. These are just what I have frozen on mine and have not had any problems or force closes.
Please note: you would need to be rooted in order to freeze some of these system apps.

Can anyone confirm that this list is safe? I already had to restore from a brick.

Yes it is safe. I'm on stock with my bootloader unlocked and I uninstalled the apps I didn't want. Some att and kindle apps were in a separate folder but I managed to uninstall them as well.

Does unlocking the boot loader stop the security error?

I bricked mine ("security error") by freezing Google Play Movies. There's another forum where others are saying that Google Play Books might also be dangerous to freeze.

I think there's some variance depending on which version of Jelly Bean you're using. Supposedly 4.1.2 v20j may allow for more freezing. I think I was using v10x when I ran into the "security error." As I've mentioned, others have reported running into this same security error problem by removing Play Movies and Books. I still wouldn't label this list as "safe." At least some people are running into problems.

I think people that are having issues might just have a rooted phone only. To avoid the security issue they still need to unlock the bootloader.
I could be wrong tho, but it seems likely.

my Motorola Atrix 4G is rooted and I was trying to install Greenify through Google Store, but it doesn't seem to work. it says "your device isn't compatible with this version."
I have also tried downloading APK from internet to install it, but it failed.
is it just my device? or none of you with rooted Motorola Atrix 4G have Greenify??
this is probably because the atrix is officially a gingerbread device. im not sure but I think greenify is only for ice cream sandwich and up. even if you are running a custom rom the playstore wont know, one possible solution is to use the xposed framework. you can install the xposed installer . its not on play store . google it. than find a module that will prevent the play store from not letting you install it. all of these mods are risky so make sure you have a good backup if things get screwed up
@ykim27,
If you are incapable of searching and/or reading, you should at least be able to mention the ROM version and variant you have installed.
Just FYI, Greenify does not support GB or older. There is a detailed thread about it here on XDA, which you would also know if you bothered to search some.
@ashraf sharif, as far as I know, Xposed requires Android 4.0+ as well.
sure but xposed installer is not on the playstore and if using a custom rom an atrix can easily run jellybean so it would be compatible with xposed
@ravilov
Greenify works with roms from ics and above,I have it in every rom I try as the replacer of the blur-gb task manager.
Playstore gets his info about compatibility from the build.prop so there is no issue with the fact that officially we have GB

@op
Unless you get an ICS ROM, just use TiBu and freeze.
Just be careful what you freeze...

I have both installed...
On ICS and JB.
Both doesn't support gb, as stated in each app's thread

Greenify is the stupidest app i've ever seen (apart from so called AntiVirus apps and task killers)! Why would you buy an expensive smartphone, just to turn off any smart features?! Isn't that paradox?

Because the not-so smart apps behavior.

Excactly, when your phone has 80apps or more, its important that you can control their behavior so that you can have the optimum battery duration. Of course you dont hibernate your Facebook or your email client or whatsapp or viber, but there are much more apps that dont need to run in background

Hi. Few times a day a have huge screen lag. I Installed ram manager from Juergen app then uninstalled few apps which I don't use and still no changes.
Why memory is in high usage and how can I fix it?

Nothing wrong with your memory, thats how android works: http://www.androidcentral.com/ram-what-it-how-its-used-and-why-you-shouldnt-care
If you are using TouchWiz launcher, you can fix the lag by moving to other launcher (i suggest 'Nova Launcher'), using 'Greenify' to hibernate unused apps , or changing to another rom:
TouchWiz seems to work very smoothly on this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2060403

get an app called disable service and another one called greenify..with greenify you can just hibernate a particular app if its running in background[user app in free version and system app in donation version]
with disable service you can stop google framework and services that are always working in background...but be very specific about disabling those processes coz some are important for play store functionality..
Maybe try a factory reset.. If it's so bad

I have a Chinese (purchased in the UK) Jiake jk760 (I think its a clone of a Samsung Galaxy A5) running kit Kat 4.4.2.
I'm unable to install the Google + app.
It works fine on my Huawei Ascend Y330 running 4.2.2 jelly bean and my Samsung Galaxy S i9000 running lollipop 5.1.1
Any ideas?
Sent from my JK-760 using XDA Free mobile app
Yeah. Most Google Apps are banned in China so most devices don't have the proper files to run it. Also clones tend to run fake software so to speak. The hardware is almost never right as are other things.
I'm running all the latest Google apps.
YouTube, play, I download the latest apks from apk mirror, so I know theres nothing amiss there, plus is the only app u can't install, I just get an error after the installation has finished ....... App not installed.
I thought someone may have a pop about the phone......seems strange all the other Google apps work fine just not plus!

Latest play store, youtube and Google now???
Sent from my JK-760 using XDA Free mobile app
Just a comparison of the A5 and the jk760.
Anyone that's says or thinks the software is a naff on the Chinese phone, think again, if there was a Google apps issue then nothing would work.
Every Google app I can think of works on this phone..but plus doesn't
The phone runs stock 4.4.2, no bloat, it has launcher3 or a touchwiz look a like launcher, and the only Google app installed is play store and I've updated that to the latest 5.5.8 version available here on xda.
And it's a mediatek 6572 1.3ghz dual core with 1gb ram.
Quite fast to be honest.
So I just wandered why this one app don't work..........

It's a constant struggle Keeping Google Play Service happy under FireOS. If you want a permanent solution you should really consider a different rom. Assuming you are running 13.3.2.5 rooted you could install Safestrap v3 and Nexus with minimal effort/risk. You would retain the ability to use either FireOS or Nexus. You can follow this guide if interested. Although the disclaimer states 3.2.6 it will work just fine with 3.2.5.
If you have more questions please start a new thread in the Q&A section.
Honestly, I would use a Rom but I got the 8 gb version of the fire and that small amount of drive space gets filled up really quickly on its own.

Given the space constraints on a 8 GB device booting dual roms (via multiple Safestrap slots) is not realistic and you probably would not see a meaningful increase in user space with Nexus without twiddling partition sizes (risky). Really boils down to which experience you prefer. Nexus can replace FireOS as most (not all) Kindle/Prime functions can be fully duplicated with Amazon apps.
Alright. Thanks for your help. Anyway, for now I've managed to downgrade the play store services to 7.0.99 which doesn't seem to have the crashing issue.
