Ok, so if there's anyone out in the XDA community that can give me a hand, it would be greatly appreciated, so:
> I have a Verizon LG V10 990, brand new out of the box was on 10b(LP) and successfully updated to 11b(LP) and rooted. It is not carrier locked from service either.
> The phone is being used on Bell Mobility(Canada), and although I have created the proper mobile network to read Bell Mobility, it annoys me with "Not a Verizon Sim Card" notifications, and I'd like to fix this so it doesn't pop up(ever).
> I am also getting messages about the Mobile Hotspot being used without VzW Sim Card as well, annoying.
> If anyone has any information as to how to stop these notifications, and I don't care if I have to rewrite a permission or delete an apk to do it, please let me know. I love the phone and it works great, and just want the VZW notifications to stop... and if someone know how to remove the VZW boot animation(not that important though) please let me know.
>I'm not quite a weekend warrior when it comes to android, but I assure you I am not a developer, although I have rewritten permissions within the text editor options of files before, so I'm ok with that option if I need to do it.
* If this thread is in the wrong location on XDA, I apologize.*
If you have Xposed installed, you might try NotifyClean. I've used it successfully on several phones incl this one. It works great and can really clean up your status bar/notification drawer.

I'm loving my Vibrant on AT&T. My only problem is that voicemail doesn't work. It hasn't worked since early September when I got the phone. I've been too busy with school to deal with the issue. Also, most people just leave a text or wait until I call them back later. But I definitely need voicemail for work.
I followed step 3 here and got the confirmation, but it still doesn't work. Step 2 doesn't apply because I don't see that option, even in the stock web browser on GV's mobile site. I downloaded the official app and opened it too (read somewhere that it needs to be opened at least once).
I think the problem originates in VM under Settings (system settings). I can change the preferred voicemail to GV, but I can't change the number underneath it; it's grayed out and I can't select the phonebook icon next to it either. Does anyone know how to fix this? Anyone on AT&T and got it working on their Vibrant?
I'm using Nero v1 with the stock kernel if it matters.
Most importantly, this is NOT a thread for you to berate me and the other AT&T users about why we should have gotten a Captivate instead. Make your own thread for that, because I really need some advice on this matter. There are a LOT of reasons why I got the Vibrant instead, not the least of which are: still has 1900 HSDPA, better accessories since it's basically the I9000, can use $10 data plan and AT&T can't do anything about it, and it's cheaper unlocked. Oh, and the better community
Yes, I did when I had my Aria, and it worked as it was supposed to back then.
Dunno if they changed anything, but Google Voice didn't have any issues back then...
When setting up GV on my Vibrant on T-Mobile, the voicemail number is greyed out and it doesn't allow to change. I just backed into GV app, it wouldn't go past that part of the setup, but my voicemail is GV now. hope this helps.

Well, could you check your settings and verify that you're situation differs from mine?
Might have something to do with the SIM card too. I think AT&T sets a VM number on the SIM card and I need to get a phone that can change that number on the SIM card.
EDIT: lol, everyone in this thread has so much Vibrant hate in their sigs. I like my Vibrant (more functionality than my old BlackBerry, although not nearly as stable/streamlined). Wish GPS worked like it should and the default file system format were more efficient. And that Samsung weren't so damned neglectful of the customer. That's pretty much it.
Did you activate GV voicemail under setting in the browser...if yes then it should say.."DEACTIVATE GOOGLE VOICEMAIL ON THIS PHONE"...does it say that in ur google voice setting...Under "PHONES TAB"??? if yes then ur google voice is setup for that phone...

...and now I feel dumb.
It actually was activated, but I think the problem was that I hadn't included the country code and gave a 10-digit number rather than 11-digits.
I deactivated it and followed the on-screen instructions (call '##004#' on the phone to erase the settings) and instead of just '*004*xxx-xxx-xxxx#', used the exact number they provided, which included the country code (i.e. '1-xxx-xxx-xxxx').
Thanks! Hope this helps anyone how searches for this problem.

Hey guys,
Longtime lurker and firsttime poster. Let me just start by complimenting the community and management for making this website my #1 go-to every time I have an issue I can't solve. Now that I've finally registered, I'm likely going to be a regular member. What better way to learn all things android than to talk to people who have the same interests as I do.
Anyways, down to my current issue. I'm at the end of my rope with a Dell Streak 5.
Description of phone:
*Model: Dell Streak 5 MO1M
*ROM: Started with stock (didn't take note of version), right now Cyanogenmod Longhorn 2.9.3 Final
*Service: Factory unlocked to T-Mobile USA.
Issue:
*Sends MMS but doesn't receive them.
Troubleshooting steps I've taken before bugging you guys:
*Made sure the SIM/service wasn't the issue, by putting the sim card associated with the DS5 into a T989 and successfully sending and receiving MMS's.
*Put my own sim card into the DS5; was able to send MMSes but not receive them.
*Reset phone to factory
*Rooted and switched to Cyanogenmod.
*Verified APN settings every step of the way; tried 3 different combinations of APN settings from various T-Mobile support forums.
*Phone has a working and empty microSD card, in case it doesn't want to save to internal memory (It should still receive, but not download the MMS in that case, I would assume).
It's like nothing I do works. I've concluded that the problem with the service, but with the phone. The reason I installed custom is because I thought there might just be a fault with the factory ROM in the phone, and resetting to factory would just reinstall faulty apks/system files. So a brand spanking new ROM SHOULD have fixed it. Since it's an unlocked phone, APN settings must be checked, and inserting the sim auto-populates an APN, which I also verified, but no go. Even Spock would have concluded that all this behavior is highly illogical.
Thanks for any input you guys might have. On a scale of 1-10 with 5 being the intermediate XDA/Android user, I might be 3-4, so go easy on me please
We are looking for someone to either:
(a) Modify the stock messaging apk so when a MMS is sent it doesn't look to the SIM card for the MDN (invalid destination address error with non active LTE SIM card or another carrier's SIM card in phone).
OR
(b) Remove the "Insert SIM" red icon on the taskbar and the annoying popup telling you to insert the SIM card every time you power on or unlock the screen when there is no SIM card in the phone.
This is needed for people who want the stock messaging app to send MMS on Page Plus or another carrier and the phone to have the stock feel and look. We are not satisfied with apps like GO SMS PRO so please don't suggest that.
We want this for stock, rooted ME7 and are offering $150 to the first person who is capable of achieving this. If anyone else is interested in donating please post in the thread below.
If you need more details let us know.

I can remove the "insert sim" red icon for sure. I can get rid of the start-up pop-up as well but it creates other issues that I haven't had a chance to figure out or fix yet. hopefully that amounts for half the bounty
PM me and we can work it out.
Ok the MMS apk is easy.... Use 8sms from the play store, stock feel with a few other improvements.
Now as far as the actual stock apk, for the ones that do not like this one and I have no clue why they would not. I am working on that also.
No Bounty needed or expected when I get it working, save your money for your hobbies

Thank you for this thread! I have been searching for a working solution to help a friend get the stock messaging app to work on his Verizon S4 flashed to Boost (no SIM card). He can send/receive SMS and can receive MMS. But can't send MMS. Yesterday, I decompiled the stock messaging app to see if I can find anything that sticks out...nada...but I have to admit, I only spent an hour looking.
Have this same problem as well on a Verizon Note 3 and Note 2.
I agree that Go SMS Pro is not an ideal workaround. It's too damn bloated.
I experimented with the following mmsc in /system/etc/apns-config.xml to see if the phone's MDN can be sort of hard coded in, but unfortunately, it didn't work. I've read that this workaround worked fine on other phones (older phones that is) so it was worth a try.
mmsc="http://mm.myboostmobile.com/servlets/mms?X-SPRINT-MDN=3105551234", where 3105551234 is your 10 digit MDN/phone number.
To get rid of the "No SIM" on the notification bar, I editted the build.prop and appended these lines at the bottom of the file:
# Remove No SIM message
keyguard.no_require_sim=true
ro.config.donot_nosim= true
No Sim Card Error Fixed?

Hey good morning,
I read your post on the thread in regards to the pesky "No Sim Card Error" and I wanted to know if that worked out with no other issues? And you also mentioned you edited the "build.prop" now my question is did you edit with an android app or did you exported to your pc and then edit from there? When you get time if you could respond I would really appreciate it . Also one more thing did you try this with a Samsung Galaxy S4 from Sprint yet?
Yes, it worked with no issues. I've used Root Explorer and EFS File Explorer to directly edit the build.prop. I've done it on Sprint and Verizon Galaxy S4 and Note 3 phones.

I can confirm, this also works on rooted Verizon Galaxy S5 with custom ROM (MOAR) Thanks!
Nice

I confirm this trick work on a S3 SGH-I747M.
Edit:
I have no Sim Card in my Ex Cell. I use it just for Media Player for Music, Straming and etc..
And for texting and Calling, Just Install TextPlus on Google Play
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2351840
I have a new (used) Samsung Galaxy S4 for Verizon running NC5 (which I bought for my gf for Christmas). I rooted it with towelroot, put in permissive mode with SE Linux mode changer, loaded SafeStrap (either 3.72 or 3.71), and then I installed Eclipse S4 TW v4.0.2 ROM (into the system slot, since the ROM slots are not working yet. Then I loaded a bunch of apps, copied stuff over from the older phone, and then got to the last step. This phone is to be used with PagePlus, which is an MVNO that runs on the Verizon network, and to get it to run with the least expensive plan I needed it flashed from 4G/3G to 3G-only.
I paid someone experienced at this flashing to do this and it worked, but it seems that something didn't work and now the messaging app cannot send pictures. At first the phone generated an error saying APN is not defined over and over and over. We tried other messaging apps, and eventually the error message went away, but nothing we tried would allow sending or receiving picture by text. Then we went into Settings -> Network Connections -> More Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names, and found only a setting for VZWINTERNET , which has MMSC "not set" and grayed out, Port "not set" and grayed out, and at the APNs screen there is a plus sign on the top right and it is grayed out, so no new APNs can be added or configured.
So it seems this functionality is something that got snipped out as bloat from the Eclipse ROM. So in this case, unless there is some other fix or some other ROM that will provide the desired functionality (the ability to support picture messaging while flashed to 3G, with nothing else being broken), I would just like to return to the original Galaxy S4 for Verizon code (but still rooted, of course). But unfortunately, I don't have a good backup of the stock ROM image from before I installed SafeStrap.
Please have pity on this poor hapless noob and provide a clear uninstall/restore path, including links to any ROM images or other code needed. I'm totally lost here, and I'd rather not have to just junk this phone and buy a replacement.
Will this work, even if SafeStrap is installed the way that I have it?:
Settings > Accounts > Back Up and Reset > Factory Data Reset > Reset Device > Delete All/Erase Everything.
Or will that only return me to SafeStrap with Eclipse MOD? Or worse, bricked? Any thoughts?

Honestly, all this for picture messaging? Use hangouts to send pictures or something.
Thank you so much for the suggestion, but my gf is even more technology-impaired in regards to cell phones than me, she uses picture messaging, has a VERY low data plan, and I didn't realize that loading Eclipse MOD would break the phone (although obviously I knowingly took that chance). Anyhow, probably later this year she will be moving back to 4G (waiting for a new MVNO to take 4G) and I don't want any bug coming back to bite me on the a** later on. So I am trying to fix this now, hopefully without me having to buy a new one.
Or maybe there will be an "Uninstall Recovery" option from within the SafeStrap recovery mode, and if so that will that work? Leaving me with the original Verizon code and not a brick?

By the way, I did just try Google Hangouts because none of the messaging apps I have seen seem to be as good as the default one, which is not included in the Eclipse ROM.
But outgoing MMS messages can still not be sent, they timeout while sending, and incoming MMS messages can still not be received, although when APN/MMSC settings are defined within the app they are detected as "available for download"--except they can't then be downloaded. Hangouts says "mobile data is disabled," but it is not and I can get data on the phone--and I disabled the firewall just to be sure.
Anybody have the T-Mobile (USA) Visual Voicemail working on the Mate 10? Mine just tries to set itself up for a few minutes, then says "We are experiencing some issues with activation. We will retry in a few minutes."
Sorry, I can't help you but I have a problem with MetroPCS visual voicemail and Mate 10 as well. Mine does activate but I loose my data connectivity. I unistall the app and connectivity is restored.

I also called T-Mobile tech support and posted on the T-Mobile forums. I got feedback but never solved the problem. Very happy with Google Voice as a substitute though. Caller ID lookup and vmail-to-text transcription is included free.

WHAT!!!!! NICE....thanks alot:good::good::good:
I discovered how to activate T-Mobile visual voicemail on a Mate 10 (non-pro). I read it on a T-mobile forum so I cannot take credit. I will say this first - even though I can get it to install, and activate, it appears to be causing my phone to not have data/internet access, unless I toggle mobile-data. Then it will continue to work until I reboot the phone at which time my data access/internet access stops. I have all 4G/LTE/ APN's setup correctly so I am not sure why this happens. I have since uninstalled the T-Mobile version of visual voicemail and the problem is resolved. GO figure!
Now here is what you need to do to get it activated in the first place. If you have the app already installed I recommend that you uninstall it before we start. After you have it uninstalled go to settings > wireless & networks > call settings > (under SIM 1 which is the only one I use) tap on additional settings > voicemail > toggle OFF visual voicemail. Now you can install T-Mobile visual voicemail and follow the prompts to allow access to contacts, etc., etc, and it should activate without issue.
Now if anyone can get it to continue working after a reboot without having to toggle mobile data then please let me know.
Also...does anyone know what the default, built in visual voicemail even does on EMUI 8.0, or how to access some app for it to work? Seems useless to me other than to block the T-Mobile app from activating.

Sounds like you are having the same issue as the guy in post #2.
I am very happy with using Google Voice instead of visual voicemail. Wouldn't go back even if I could get it working. In addition to everything VVM does, you also get free voice-to-text on voicemail messages, as well as automatic caller ID lookup.
