Should I use SM Kitkat or Marshmallow - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I updated to CM 13 quite a long time ago, but I noticed that the phone is quite slow. I don´t play any games but apps like google play music lags and this is quite annoying. Would downgrading to CM 11 help with increasing the performance of the phone? Also I noticed that my GPS isnt working in CM13.1 are there any fixes for that?

Cm11 performance is excelent. Was using the M9 snapshot and Oneplus One conversion kit by HighOnAndroid. Now i use Resurrection Remix v5.6.9 + Harfix kernel at 1.7ghz and fells great to use

Audio playback cripples on lockscreen

Hi guys, so i bought an s3 last week and after 2 days of use i decided to upgrade to 4.3.
I installed Paranoid Android 4.0 beta 3 (latest) but now when i try to listen to music with the phone on my pocket (both with Shuttle+ and Google Play music) the audio isnt smooth, it cripples sometimes. Anyone has a fix?

Unfortunately, there is no fix yet. I sold my S3 yesterday due to audio stuttering. Try using n7player (for me caused less stuttering that winamp, stock samsung player, google music).
You can try using custom kernel or use an app like setcpu and increase your min frequency level to 400 rather than default 200 MHz....
For custom kernel I would suggest boeffla 2.2 stable for aosp based roms..
Install boeffla config v2 app from play store and you can change between governors and change the frequency as per your choice from this app itself...

The Walking Dead: Seasone One - Sound issues on SIII

Hey!
For some days The Walking Dead from Telltale is finally on Android and I wanted to play, but... I had sound issues.
Do you experienced any sound problems in this game on our device? Currently I'm on CM11 with Boeffla 2.2. Maybe this game isn't supporting Android 4.4 at all?

Bluetooth audio lag in games

Hello there,
I'm encountering some problems with my bluetooth headphones when I start games. As long as I'm using Spotify, Youtube etc. everything works fine, but in games I have like 0.7 to 1 second audio lag. It always occurs, no matter if I've also connected my BT gamepad or not.
What I'm using:
Device: bq Aquaris X Pro 4gb/64gb
Android: 7.1.1
Baseband-Version: 1-00333-8953_GEN_PACK-1.110987.1
Kernel-Version:
3.18.31-perf-g23e2fe9
[email protected] #1
Fri Nov 10 09:54:40 CET 2017
Build-Number: 1.5.1_20171110-0910
Additional info: Unlocked Bootloader, rooted (Magisk 15.3 (5.5.5))
Bluetooth headphones: Teufel Move BT (Bluetooth 4.0 + apt-x)
Bluetooth gamepad: Stoga STM01 (Bluetooth 3.0, also known as iPega BTC-938)
What I already tried:
- Reconnecting all devices
- Resetting all devices
- Reinstalling Games / Software
- Testing audio-altering software, just in case it'd change anything
- Deactivating any other connections beside bluetooth
- Uninstalling any app that could cause those problems, like antivirus
- Checking CPU Load (~25% in games) and RAM usage (never completely full)
- Fiddling around with audio options - doesn't change anything
- Looking up if it's a buffering problem (didn't find any information)
A kinda interesting observation I made is that the lag seems to only occure when he got (game-)footage to render. There isn't even any audio lag in the Rockstar logo video when I start GTA 3, but it starts when I load my savegame. Doesn't have to be 3D though, it happens with GTA 3 as well as Angry Birds or PPSSPP, ePSXe or any other emulator I got.
The bug probably was always there, I just happen to notice it now because it's the first time I got a smartphone strong enough for something I'd call a "fully fledged game".
A friend told me it's maybe a known problem with the Android 7 stock ROM, but since the internet is full of bluetooth problems on android I'm not sure about that. I would've tried a custom rom, but there isn't any rom for the Aquaris X Pro yet (even though there's a team working on a Linelage OS 15 port). Just buying cheap headphones to play with isn't a real option, since I'd also need a new gamepad (my current one blocks the audio port), and I'd be forced to always change to crappy sound when I want to play a game (The Teufel Move BT are really high quality).
There's actually an open beta programm for Android 8 Oreo for my device, but I don't really want to unroot (Some apps I regularly use need it) and accept all the telemetry....
Created a logcat file (search term "bluetooth"). Just connected the devices, moved around a bit in two apps with BT lag, and disconnected them again.

Anyone got an idea how to fix this?
Greetings,
Serry
I have the same issue on my Galaxy S9+. Same lag value in games only. It seems like Android bug and can't be fixed by users unless they deploy a fix.

Same problem on Note8 (Exynos), while on games only with powerbeats 2.
same happen in note9 (exynos) while on games only with oneplusBullet wireless
It's an AOSP issue and it makes me frustrated that no body report the issue to Google itself. It's been years man!
OEM roms like oxygen os and one UI have fixed this issue but the problem is that they have closed sources for their oos and one UI... It's an issue deep within the aosp code... And will continue to occur in all aosp roms ?
We should ask Google to fix their aosp for this!

Recommended stable custom ROM for SGP511?

I've gotten Google out of my life and want to flash a new custom ROM to my Sony Xperia Z2 tablet. I'm currently running Lineage but would be curious to try something different. I basically want a clean experience and won't be flashing Gapps. I really just use this tablet for watching videos and rarely some document reading and email.
Can someone recommend me a stable ROM to try out? There's so much development here that i'm a little overwhelmed and would be safest to take some advice on something stable I won't f**k up being a relatively inexperienced person in this area. (i've flashed a bunch of ROMs on different devices, but i've messed it up plenty of times too)
Hi,
I can just recommend Resurrection Remix Oreo. Its stable, pretty smooth and really fast with the latest android experience. Im using it daily to watch videos or scrolling through the web or facebook. I also installed google photos so i receive the photos directly taken from my smartphone, pretty awesome.
So I think it will be also a great rom for you. Just flash the twrp 3.0 and install it. Really simple.

Thanks - i've flashed it and the first thing I tried was playing a video (after installing VLC). Audio FX error happened and the tablet crashed. Replicated this a few times. The forum thread says I can uninstall Audio FX using the system uninstaller, but I can't find that option and this isn't a great indicator of stability anyway. That ROM does feel and look great - but that was discouraging.

You can find the "System app remover" under Settings > Configurations > Misc

Sorry to hear that. I got no problem with the Audio FX. I am also using VLC even when I stream Movies from Plex.

Most stable curtana custom ROM for photography / videography?

I've tried Revenge, Resurrection Remix, PixelPlus and Crdroid. Tried installing others but the ROM didn't stick so didn't bother. Am currently on Resurrection Remix which is based on Android 10. I have a few camera and video apps on my phone. They work fine although there's a problem with the inbuilt gallery not updating photos taken from third party camera apps so it's a pain in the arse when they can't be accessed for posting on social media. I'm also using Simple Gallery pro which works fine but it's pretty slow for camera apps to send the photos to the SD card. Didn't have that problem with the other ROMs I'd mentioned but those have problems with Filmic Pro. RevengeOS was fine but it shutdown on its own twice which rendered it a no no because I had no alarm to wake me up one day. Luckily it wasn't a working day.
Try ported miui roms sir. Best for photography.
