I was using my phone yesterday and all of a sudden it just got stuck. It wouldn't respond at all so I had to force a restart by pressing the power and volume down button. It started and I left it without unlocking it. I pick it up a few seconds later and it is switched off. It won't start no matter what I try. I don't think it charges because the phone remains cold and the red LED dosen't show up. I'm not sure what to do.

Well, yeah but I got a crack on the left side of my screen which voids the warranty unless I fix it for $350 which I don't really want to. Guess I have no other choice, huh?

Maybe you can take it to your local phone repair shop? You can definitely get it fixed for cheaper.

Then yes, it works, it's just the screen. The OS starts up properly and you are able to interact with it without the screen.
I don't think warranty would cover the screen, probably a cost to get it fixed is required.
If you're lucky, they may replace your phone, but in most cases, they're not likely to do so.

The screen and the glass are fused together, thats why its that expensive online. You can't replace them individually.
that sucks its about 1/5 the price of the phone
well thanks for the help

shop around buddy. you might find someone who will do that half the price... try with Samsung Service..Pretty sure they would give you a quotation or something..Good luck and next time be careful.
Dropped my Titan. The BACK, HOME and SEARCH button no longer work. When you press them it registers a touch action from whatever is on the screen about 1/2 inch about the buttons. The rest of the phone works fine, but without the BACK button, navigating around is impossible (I have to power-cycle to go back to the home screen).
I've power cycled and hard rest the phone, no change. Any other ideas before I pull this thing apart?
If its under warranty may be worth sending for repair, Ok they may charge you but gotta be better than totally messing it up?

The drop voided the warranty, unfortunately.
hello.
I've got serious problems. Today I get in the car and watched the latest messages on my phone. then suddenly the screen began flickering and everything was getting over bright. So I thougt that a reboot would help. totally wrong, Tried to reboot but the samsung boot screen turn purple with blueish tinted letters. Then my heart goes crazy because I tought I bought a phone with a decent quality. And now the screen is just past away!! Why Samsung, Why?? Tried to boot several times. Phone starts up so I made a backup from the SD card but there's no working screen. I feel horrible now. because now i have to wait untill it's monday so i can call Samsung for an RMA and then just wait a couple of weeks. 2 weeks without my S3. This is just like rehab in a nightmare...
Does somebody here have experience with a faulty screen?
p.s.
Phone never dropped on ground, never. Always have TPU case with touchscreen-protector
Lightning is not covered under warranty .

Did you take an insurance when you bought your phone?

that lightning strike was just for fun. It wasn't hit by lightning. No i don't have insurance on my phone. This is a fault of Samsung?? not mine? How can i destroy my display driver myselve? that's impossible.
Funny joke... very descriptive. The only reason I read it was to see how u managed to get ur phone struck by lightning and still managed to post about it...

will it be covered under warranty? On a dutch forum I read several cases with broken screen. most of them in a couple of weeks after the release.
If this will be every 5 months I want my freaking money back because I don't gonna sent my phone 4 times in 2 years. and after that I have to gonna pay myselve for the repair. That's rediculous. Even the S2 would last longer. This is such a shame for samsung. Monday I will call customer service and then I will explain the whole story and then they have to repair it as soon as it gets.
I have the flickering screen problem as well. It happens when the screen turn off (time-outed and manually) and turn on again. Anyone has the same problem? I wonder if it is a hardware or software problem?

that's not the flickering i mean. But I know your problem. It's software related. It get's dimmed when you push the home button right after time-out.

If you screen or display is not working its warranty . If your screen is broken or cracked its not warranty .
If you have custom rom or root or rom counter above zero warranty is void .

Not dimmed actually, The screen is like the magnetic field noise when we put our dialing cellphone near to CRT monitor last time. Sorry for my bad english.
they can't even see the binary counter because of the screen that's broken .
But I think I did reset my binary counter already 2 months ago. after that I only did flashes with CWM. Not Odin.
p.s. Does it count flashes with CWM? I think it only counts when you load via odin.

You're kidding right? I hope you are LMAO!!
No I'm serious.. How can they watch binary counts when display is not working anymore?? Simple right?? Here in the Netherlands there are several cases with people that have rooted S3's with broken screen. They all get a new phone. If they could see the binary counter. They wouldn't send out new phones right??
A defective unit , after reading countless posts about defective units i am doubting about samsung's quality ....

Hello, same problem here but only when auto brightness and power saving mode (any combination of options checked) are on, which I just recently noticed since on dark background you wouldn't see it. Software bug?
Dropped my S2 today at gym. It wasnt very high drop and the floor was quite soft. But my phone´s screen turned black and cant see anything. The screen is still responsive because i can get the screen lock off and then i can hear the volume up/down sound. Is the lcd broken or could there be something else?
Well the problem is pretty obvious. The drop caused something to come loose, hence the display problem.
Send it in for repair.

The phone is rooted, but stil got warranty left. Is there a way to unroot it without the screen?
Of course just power up into download mode by holding volume up+power+home key.
I would give it 10seconds then release buttons.
Then press volume up to start Odin mode.
Hopefully Odin will recognise it and you can flash original firmware
I woukd do it in the morning after a night on charge to make sure you have enough charge.
Of course it"s risky with no screen but worth a shot

Hey could someone help me diagnose whats going on with my Galaxy Tab 10.1?
I haven't used it in a few days. I knew it was dead. So I went to charge it. It turned on
and the screen is showing crazy ****ed up lines and flickering. I cannot get to recovery or download mode.
My wife says its this "Carbon Rom" that I installed. I say bull****. If it was, I would be able to at least see recovery mode.
To me it seems the video card or screen, whatever produced the picture got screwed up. Please take a look at the pic and let me know what you think. Can this be fixed? Whats the cost? Is this something I can fix or do I need to go to a repair shop?
Is there a warranty on these things? Its a year old. If I send it to Samsung, will they be able to tell a custom rom was flashed which will void the warranty? Im guessing so... Someone please help im sad
The picture is attached.
Thanks for any help. Appreciated

Its been sitting for 5 minutes now and I went to turn on and it shows a White screen now.
This seems like definite damage. The only things I could think it would be is last Saturday I was sitting by the pool reading
and I cover it back up with my flip case, had it sitting on the chair while I was swimming. It was fine after that though.
Last time I used it, it was Tuesday and it was fine. The only other thing is if my daughter got a hold of it... But there's no way to tell
either way if these were the cause. Any thoughts?
I remember someone posting a topic with the same issue like a yezr zgo or so, i can't find this topic anymore, the problem was with the screen or the cable of your screen, i think he had to replace his LCD screen

Seems in my opinion that you have a screen fault. Maybe it was caused by you without your knowledge or it is a manufacturing defect. It us really hard to say but a screen replacement should fix the problem.

Thank you for your reply.
So you think its the screen, same here. But im doing some you tubing and see that the screen is pretty much just a piece of clear cover that
goes over the lcd screen. I will need a new lcd screen, correct? Is it worth taking apart and checking the cables?
Theres no cracks or damage to the physical screen so it has to be internal.
If anyone can find a link, please let me know. Thanks for your help!
What do you think it would cost to fix at a repair shop? and / or samsung vs. joe blows repair shop?

Screen replacement or LCD replacement? The screen has no physical or visible cracks/damage.
