it wont stay in fastboot mode and i cant install driver because of this problem !
any help and sorry for my bad English .
This is already being discussed here:

You're not the only one.
By the way, I found a fix:
I ran the fastboot, etc, on a XP PC (or just a VM in my case). It worked like a charm. I installed the drivers, rebooted the VM and now I'm on a rooted and unlocked Xperia S.
it's work ...... thanks

Hi,
I just got my Sony Xperia S (on T-Mobile in the UK) and am having problems getting into fastboot mode. Unlike any of the reported issues I can find, I am not getting five seconds of fastboot before the system resets. In fact, I am not getting any fastboot at all. When I press volume up and plug the phone in via the USB cable, it does... nothing interesting. It simply goes straight to the Sony splash and then the charging screen.
I am on Windows 7, and can probably get access to a Vista machine for diagnostics, if it would help. XP may be a bit more tricky.
Anyone got any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help.

To elaborate, I get no blue LED under any circumstances.
Try a different USB port maybe?
Did you turn on USB debugging on your S?

I've tried a few, but the USB port is definitely working - the phone is charging from it, just not entering fastboot mode.

Did you check if can be unlocked in the service menu. If your phone is branded they normally can't be unlocked and they will not enter fastboot at all.

That may be it. I can't get to the service menu thanks to an MMI error but if that's how it exhibits then it's plausible.
Is there any way around this? This phone is stuffed with bloat and I really want to get rid of it.

Hello I have an Xperia S, with bootloader locked and recently installed a ROOM in order to get the 6.A.1.2.55 with root.
Installed from a ZIP from recovery mode following this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2009672
Now when I try to do step 7 (flash kernel and Baseband) Using Flashtool, Im unable to enter to the mode; when the windows prompts me, I turn off the phone, press and hold Vol up connect the USB but nothing happens, only the Sony Logo and then the icon of charging battery, I also tried to turn off the phone while holding Power button + Vol up (at the same time) and get the 3 vibrations, but the same result when I connect, the logo and the charging animations/icon..( no LED of any color or anything)
Im using the latest Flashtool version (0.9.9.0) with the drivers intalled (even though Windows security constantly pestered me about not being able to identify the source and signture) on Windows 7 64 bits..
Thank you..
U can't use fastboot with locked bootloader
U need to unlock your bootloader first then u can flash kernels
Sent from my LT26i using xda premium
Yes, that I did know but the author of the ROOM doesn't have it unlocked either. Besides even if that, I'm still Unable to enter the mode, or is it because I uncheck "exclude kernel" that it doesn't enter the mode?

Enter flashmode for flashtool
Hey....i don't think you need to switch it to MSC mode for flashing.... did you try to enter flashmode by holding "Volume down" button while inserting the USB cable into the phone ? Are you trying to flash it via Flashtool ( it is the easiest way ) ?

Yes, I tried to flash it with flashtool, but it won't recognize the phone, holding volume down while inserting usb, and the mini led light up orange, so... what else can I do? .. thanks
Did You switch the phone off before that?
Procedure is:
1) Switch off the phone (remove battery if needed)
2) Press "volume down" and hold
3) Put he USB cable in.
Do You see driver installation dialog running in windows? wait until it finishes.
4) Start the flashtool
5) Flash the ROM.
Yes, I did exactly the same, but it doesn't install the drivers

Then You need to install either Sony PC companion or form the Sony develeoper site the proper drivers.
Sony PC Companion You find here
Pc companion will install all the SE xperia drivers You need.

You have drivers in Flashtool folder under : \flashtool\drivers install them , and accept all of the installation requests by Windows . Or install official drivers from Sony or from Google's SDK source .
:Flash a new kernel via FASTBOOT and install a rom or reflash the firmware with wotan client that worked for me

when you plug in your usb while holding volume down key the led should be green not orange.
green led means the phone is in flashmode.

hi this not help ,any idea?
This may help you 90%... just try it
I also have bricked up my Xperia Neo V
I tried many tools but no one helped.....
Finally I got back my bricked phone back by doing following things....
download all the needed things you need to update phone with wotan X tool unlock, you will need
1. X_Unlock_Tool_Setup_Wotan
2. WotanClient
3. USBFlashDriver
you can get all these from wotan website.
also create an account on wotan website. NO NEED TO BUY ANY CREDITS
install all above mentioned tools.
then run X UNLOCK TOOL
then follow on screen instructions untill you get an error that you don't have sufficient credits.
NOTE THAT NOW YOUR PHONE HAS GOT A SIM LOCK CERTIFICATE FROM THIS TOOL. BUT THE POSITIVE ASPECT IS THAT YOU CAN NOW FLASH ANY ftf FILE USING FLASH TOOL. SIM LOCK WILL BE REMOVED AFTER THE WHOLE PROCESS.
now flash the desired firmware on your phone.
power up your phone
if it power ups successfully, then your phone will not detect your SIM card.
finally use S1 tool to remove SIM LOCK CERTIFICATE.
CLICK THANKS IF IT WORKS
BEST OF LUCK

I am also trying to figure how to flash a kernel but every kernel that I download comes in an *.img format but FLASH TOOLs require FTF file to flash the kernel.. how can I do it?

Okay, I'm trying for some time now to root my phone. First time I did it did not work at all, but something changed on my phone, the PC does not recognize it anymore, I mean, if I plug it in, it says "ST27i device connected" but when I try to update to the new firmware 6.2.A.1.100 that I have to follow some steps (unplug USB from PC -> charge the phone battery to 50% -> turn off phone and wait 5s -> hold volume down and power key while plugging the usb cable) at that point (bold text) the phone is not recognized by the PC and therefore does not update. I'm still running with 6.1.1.B.1.10...
Can anyone help me?
Thank's a lot.
PS: I'm not usually here therefore I don't really know where my thread fits, so if it's not in the right place sorry, I'm just looking for some help.

Did you unlock your bootloader at unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com? If you did, pc companion WONT recognise your device. Try looking around on how to relock your bootloader. I am not too sure. If you did not unlock, i am not really sure on what to do I have never unlocked my bootloader as i know the dangers of it.
Try asking the more senior members.

I don't really understand what went wrong in the rooting process. Apparently it all went fine, the rooting tool said the device was rooted, but when I install apps that need rooting and should ask for root permission, none permissions are asked. Also another proof the my phone is not rooted is that when I use my phone's screen on my PC I can not press any buttons or write any text messages (as I read, I could only do that if my phone was rooted). And like I said, after that, my phone is not recognized by the PC in flash mode, so I cannot flash kernels, firmwares, nor can I update my firmwares using PC Companion.

Yeah I know, what I said about the PC Companion is that it can no longer update my firmwares because my PC can no longer recognize my device in flash mode. And I used the flashtool to flash an older firmware, so I could root my phone, following the guide, which I refer on my question.

First the phone must be turned off and disconnected from the USB cable, then you press volume up and connect the USB cable while you holding it dwn.
Another way is to enabled USB debugging in developer options, connect the phone to the pc, then in flashtool click the flash icon, select fastboot, and in the window the comes up click reboot into fastboot (via adb).
Try both methids.

I asked for the reason, and if its "to unlock my bootloader" you can forget about it alltogether. Unlocked boot loader by itself has no advantage over lokecked bootloader.

Connect to pc with usb cable and wait until battery fully discharged. And recharge it for 3 hours. and press power buton for 20-25 second it will open.
What does the windows device manager say when your phone is connected to the pc? If it has something like "900E" mode you need this http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/unbrick-rn3-hs-usb-900e-edl-cable-100-t3447928 . This helped me out as my phone was dead. It only works when your battery is not completely discharged.
If you have "9008" mode in device manager, you are really in the EDL mode. So it is no problem to flash an appropriate fastboot rom with mi flash tool. Maybe you need the latest beta from mi flash tool though.
