What's new in this update? - Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

I received a 500MB update. Anyone know what's new in this build number? - 23.5.A.1.291

Stamina mode makes it's return.

Is that it? That's a big update just for stamina mode. No bug fixes or performance improvements?
Sent from my SGP611 using XDA-Developers mobile app

under info it mentions more:
-extended app data security
-newest security updates
-new camera gui
-xperia messaging
-direct share
i will update and see if there is any real improvement over 23.5.A.0.575 - after i figured out how to remain rooted..

It's really annoying that Sony has said that this device will not receive the Android 7.0 update.

It's rootable with otarootkeeper and in standard way.
Failed to install for me
Still have root after upgrade on mine, but other than root and taking a cwm, I hadn't made any other changes yet

Operator name has been removed from the notification bar entirely?
Managed to update successfully, everything is intact, root, smart settings etc. flawless
Operator is still displayed for me...weird

Operator name still there and the background in settings is still white!

No.
Why did you think this?
he's probably talking about the 651.150.1 update which had those changes listed in changelog

That makes sense thanks. I would love to see the operator name disappear from the status bar - "Vodafone UK" takes up almost half of it!
Yes. I'm talking about the 651.150.1
Now My Razr is 651.150.1 but I want Official updete.
but I'll stay 651.150.1 If operator name does not disappear from the status bar.
i'm gonna stick with 651.150.1 too. the official update seems like a step back. at least from what i read in the changelog. yes, they added some apps but i'm not gonna loose those cool changes in 651.150.1 just over some apps.
on version numbers alone, the leaked update appears 'newer' for want of a better word.. Aside from Evernote, the official ota has less stuff in it. Wonder why the network provider name in the notification bar and black background features were pulled? Can anyone confirm whether the camera, wifi improvements etc in the official ota are also in 651.150.1 too?
Difficult to confirm without a changelog but I appear to have noticed with 651.150.1 wifi is working much better than it was as I had a few issues with the stock with wifi. Although I never used the camera much before updating so Couldn't comment on that
I also use the 651.150.1 and have better performance than before (651.73.23). I've just flashed the newer Radio "U_03.1C.85P" from 651.73.30 (the radio included in 651.150.1 is U_03.1C.83P). I believe this is where improvements in WiFi, calling and messaging mentioned in 651.73.30 changelog are related to.

[Q] First ever Sony phone

Hope I put this in the right forum, this is my first ever Sony phone and I really want to get used to the Sony way of doing things on Android.
I'm just wondering how to hide apps on the app drawer?
How to uninstall some of the bloat?
What is the likely hood of getting updates (Like 4.4.2 to 5.0.0)?
When on the phone the sound is really low, anyway of turning it up?
Questions do go in QnA so this is in the right place
Hiding apps i think there isnt a way yet exept GEM xposed module but you need root
Removing bloatware, some can be uninstalled or disabled via settings > apps and some you actually need root if the previous options arent avaliable
Xperia flagships usualy have 6 to 36 month update plans so very likely to get Android "L"
And volume can be controlled via the rockers on the side (changes depending on what your doing aka playing music they control media vol)
Or you can review and change all via settings>sound>volumes
This may be useful to you

(Installation Guide provided in zip)
But basically extract and move the update.zip to root directory of SDcard and run the update tool from the phone and it should find an update
Those who have installed help keep this page updated with the differences noticed
Whats been noticed:
> Lockscreen Image Bug Fixed (Needs reboot when image set)
> Video/Audio Sync Bug Sort of Fixed - Video/Audio seems in sync when using headset and WiFi, without still a delay. Also without wifi so using data there is delay no matter what. --- Scratch that, i was watching a dodgy video i think! Looks fixed!!!
> New "Headset Hi-Fi" setting in "Sounds and Vibration." You may switch between "Standard" and "Super" and play a demo to see the difference.
> The mobile signal bar no longer says 3G/4G when it is not being used. Just a signal bar now.
> When charging the phone the Notification LED doesnt blink red anymore. Stays on continuous even when using the phone while charging. Always red light.
> Social Media videos skipping when music on in background and viewing the video. Then when going back to the music app the music stops playing while the song is continuing. >>>> This still occurs.
> Android Pay still unavailable.
> July Android Security Patch
> When switching between apps, the clear all button no longer says how much RAM is being used.
Root without unlocked bootloader
http://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/wip-axon-7-root-bootloader-unlokced-t3441204
Contacted my ZTE source about the bugs still being there. It seems quite clear that it is software bugs and really does seem like they are working on it so i suggest dont return your phones, just be patient for more software updates
Update - 30/08/16 News from ZTE
> The next update will fix the Video Audio issue.
> Social Media issue.
> Camera will have added 60fps recording option after chats with the USA team.
> Android Pay
Coming soon. End of this week/Next week should be by OTA.
If anyone notices anything still not working please post here and i will send the ZTE team an email and keep this topic updated.
Feel free to post any differences if you install before me!

2GB? That's a big update.
If it's not too late, can you capture / save that update and share it with us?
Added a link
Installed and testing. First thing i noticed is that the Lockscreen wallpaper bug is fixed.
"Back up the data and APPs in your phone by using the built-in Backup function. To enable the built-in Backup function of your phone (an SD card must be inserted), select Backup and Restore from the main menu"
I think they're imagining this
Keep updating the new topic with updates what figure out with the new update.
Did the sound issue being fixed or not several people mention in different threads.

At 2GB, this seems like a full image. I'm not at a computer; can anyone check it out to see if that's the case?

Seems to be fixed. At least YT sound is synched (tested with "Audio Video Sync Test" on YT)

The OP mentioned "B02", not "B20". Typo?
Anyway, the B20 for the US version was only ~80MB. The OP reports 2GB for this one. Sounds like the difference between a standard OTA update and full image. Not sure why they'd do a full image update, but some companies have/do.

It's specifically for the European version. A2017G is the model sold in Europe.
Any information about the bootloader for the European model with this update?
Is the launcher still without an app drawer?
Does the double tap to open option included from the beginning to European version or not??

No Info about bootloader yet. Stock launcher still without app drawer, but honestly, try Nova or Action launcher. I´d even use these with stock android.

Compatibility patch

Surprised there hasn't been much mention of this, but I'm currently rooted on V20j and today I see this pop up in my notifications. Compatibility patch 20160809 - this patch helps to avoid compatibility problems that may occur with apps. has anyone applied this while rooted and maintained root? any ideas what this does?

Official Google Phone app can now be installed without root

Just a heads up: I read on the ZenTalk forum that the latest OS update WW_17.1810.2003.144 allows us to install the official Google Phone app/dialer directly from the Play store without needing root.
More info here:

All the good things come to an end...
It looks like the next OS update - WW_17.1810.2003.145 - doesn't have the necessary libs to make the Google Phone app work out of the box.
More details:
https://zentalk.asus.com/en/discussion/26900/new-update-145#latest
I'll guess we'll have to install the Google Dialer Framework module in Magisk. Not a big deal if you're rooted but it may be disappointing for non-rooted users.

And it's back...
The Google Phone dialer can again be installed with today's OS update ZS630KL_WW_17.1810.2005.153
I think the call recorder do not work in it
