hi all, i have a problem when i try to unlock the bootloader.
i connect my tab in fastboot mode, but when i enter 'fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version', the terminal display <waiting for device> and it apparently stops.
What can i do?
i have an unrooted 16GB wifi (SGP311) xperia tablet z with the last 4.2.2 update
Probably the fastboot drivers weren't properly installed. Try to install them properly (and reboot your PC afterwards) and try again.

from the unlocking guide by sony..
"On your computer, you will be asked for drivers. Point to the usb_driver folder where you placed the android_winusb.inf-file, and select the Android Boot loader Interface-file."
i connect the tablet in fastboot (blue led), but windows doesn't ask me for drivers. i also delete drivers and reinstall them on sdk

Try installing the drivers by the Flashtool tool. If you're on Windows 8, deactivate Driver Signature Check, install the drivers by their tool, then reboot...

Anyway, I have never installed a custom ROM with a device that has both internal and external SD cards, so I always recommend having two copies of the ROM you want, one on the internal, other in the external. Do the same with the latest Gapps.
Move them to the root of both memories. Then, boot into recovery (I think CWM is more stable), go to Install update.zip. Select "Choose from SD card, and then look for the ROM zip. Confirm you want to install. Wait until the process is complete. Do the same with the Gapps package.
Then, go back to the root menu of the recovery, and choose Factory Reset. Confirm and then reboot. Now you should have your ROM installed...

Well, this is the 'normal' method. But i saw in the cyanogenmod wiki page of xperia tablet z that they use 2 strings by terminal with the device in fastboot. I have tried to flash the omnirom by recovery but the installer said "this is not sgp311/pollux windy" but i'm pretty sure that my tab hasn't got data connecting. When i 've reboot, it displayed only the Sony logo (so i fixed it with flashtool)

You don't need a driver for the z4 itself, only for the computer.

I got the scatter file from CM thread. But I cannot use it in SP cuz "initializing scatter file failed please check the name of scatter p9000 is legal".
Name is MT6755_Android_scatter.txt
SP latest version 5.1520
Dont know whats wrong and what to do. I got this device for $10 on GearBest in a competition. Didnt know flashing MTK devices is so difficult. Will stick to snapdragon from now on.

Did you flash CM too? I followed the instruction but when I hit the download button, SP does not load at all. Its frustrating cuz I dont see why cant we use adb instead of this MTK-specific SP flash tool

adb is used for pushing files, adb shell and other stuff, not to flash roms..(except adb sideload) ive flashed Aerom, i havent tried cm13, make sure your not using wrong scatter file, i think p9000 and p9000 lite have different scatters
I have got past the scatter file problem by shortening its name but then when I hit the download button, nothing happened.
I have installed SP driver pack, disable digital signing but when I try to install the VCOM driver, the installer could not install because the program wasn't signed.

Which version of Windows do you use??
The VCOM-drivers cant be installed in the Windows 10 Anniversary Update...
Easy!
Use some other directory (folder), e.g. C: or C:\Flash\. this will work.
I have just received an OTA update. No Android 7 unfortunately, but February security update and bugupdates. Was about 325Mb download and a few restarts

Everything good over here. Applied update couple of days back. It's released some memory and seems a bit snappier in intensive games.
Any issues with rooted devices? Any problems with rooting this again? I am guessing that it will break the root.
Is there a release log?
I hope you don't mind me hijacking your post slightly, but has anyone had any luck updating after unlocking the bootloader? I just tried updating, it got about half way through the install and then aborted. I'd already re-locked the bootloader, but upon booting the tablet it says something like "verification failed". Am I doomed to forever rely on flashing new stock roms, rather than ota updates?

sad....I am in the same situation with you, hope there will be some workarounds....
With an unlocked bootloader.
Steps I took:
1. downloaded and captured the update. The update is saved at: /data/data/com.lenovo.ota/app_otapackages.
2. copied the update.zip to my external sd-card.
3. boot in the stock recovery menu.
4. choose apply update from external storage.
5. wait untill finished, system restarts.
System booted just fine. After booting my Playstore app crashed constantly. I flashed the latest gapps from open gapps and everything is just fine.
Rooted again with Magisk. Choose for 10.1 because 11.1 keeps giving me problems with Titanium. No problems rooting after update.
My first attempt failed because I was still rooted, so I reflashed my stock boot image with twrp. No problems flashing the update after this. Maybe by flashing the boot image first and using the update function from within works but after the messages of failing updates I decided to try this approach.
Note: my model is YB1-X90L

How did you capture the update? Does not it restart automatically?
Also when you say "stock boot image" , what do you mean exactly? Do you mean boot partition or just the original backup?

Just downloaded it. It doesn't restart automatically. You have to confirm to install the update. I booted directly into the bootloader after copying the update to my external SD-card.
After rooting with Magisk there is a backup of your original boot.img. This can be found in /data. There you see magisk.img and stock_boot.img. Copy the stock_boot.img to your external SD-card.
I didn't rename the ota-file after downloading it. Just flashed the file from stock recovery. Maybe you have a corrupt download?

Cool, I thought that TWRP was only able to flash zips.
Can you please tell me which .imgs you flashed back exactly? I do not want to mess this up. Did you just flash "stock_boot.img"?
Also did you need to lock the bootloader as well? I hope you did not need to because I so do not want to erase all my data again to unlock it back.

Strange. What version of Magisk are you running?
Did you make a recent nandroid backup in TWRP before flashing Magisk? It also containes the boot image.
I found an older firmware for your model. YB1-X90F_USR_S000196_1611040312. Don't know if this works because of the older firmware. I extracted the boot.img.http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/58bbb8483b6a0/boot.img.zip. Flash at your own risk.

Anyone else notice it seems to have included an update the Note Saver app? it can now go into portrait mode, and existing notes don't open in edit mode anymore by default.
This update broke ability to switch languages by click ctrl + space on Halo keyboard. It's very sad for me.

scatter file is the one included in every stock rom that is flashable to sp flash tools, when you load the scatter file, it loads a list of partitions and it allows you to flash files onto those partition, in thus case you needed the partition table to flash the recovery, so you need to load the scatter file that is found on any stock rom made for flash tools
